      The dealer needs to make money and people need to get paid.. there's not much margin on a new car. If a dealer has no markups, no add-ons, and a $500 dealer fee, selling a brand new car.. there's only $600-$1500 worth of gross margin available. Most salespeople get 25% of the gross margin.. do the math. Nobody wants to blab with these retards for a couple hundred bucks.

    Destination chargers on the Mulroney sticker is the charge to ship the car from the port or factory to the dealer, all other fees are pure profit for doing nothing.

      destination charges are built into the MSRP. Dealers have allotments they have to take. The only time you should pay a destination fee is if you ask the dealer to bring in a specific vehicle from another dealer. Otherwise it is a bogus fee. The manufacturer pays dealers to take these vehicles.

    I have never negotiated fees or add ons.....OTD price only, this salesman is new to the game, the broker was good....straight to the point, no small talk.....can you do this or not....the way they structure it makes no difference if the price you pay is where you want it to be...
    destination is already factored into the MSRP

    I don’t understand why “plus doc fee, tax title and license” is mentioned. You should tell him that you are looking for 10% off MSRP, tax,Title, License PERIOD. LET HIM JUSTIFY HIS FEES. YOU SHOULD NOT TELL HIM OUT OF THE GATE THAT YOU ACCEPT FEES.

      If he's buying from a different state he doesn't pay those fees at the dealer. He pays them when he registers it.

    When your crew says MSRP, do they actually mean the MSRP or the Total Suggested Retail Price? Subaru price listing tags always has an option package below the MSRP that beefs up the TSRP.

      MSRP should include all of the options as provided by the manufacturer. Anything above that is just dealer added nonsense

      toyota sticker has msrp , then the sticker lists the delivery processing and handling fee added on and says the (total) tsrp is ....

    Dealer told me in order to get the advertised Smart price I had to get the dealer installed aftermarket items totaling over 1.5k. that brought the price back to MSRP. That is false advertising and the dealer was like call it what you will.

    Does msrp include toyota packages and add ons they put at port before getting to the dealership? For example, msrp for the car is $36k but they put on like 3k options and port addona before it gets to the dealer. In this case, is msrp $36k or is it $39k

    I want to do this job so bad lol. I’m picking up my Mazda tomorrow after 3 weeks of negotiating (took long cause we were test driving Hondas and VW and Chevy as well to see which compact suv we went with but decided on a hatchback lmao)

    Was part of the issue being in Florida? In the south, Toyotas have what are essentially dealer add-ons bundled into the MSRP ($699 service plan, $399 floor mats, etc.)

      Who cares, just tell them that you want to shave 900 off somewhere else to make up the difference. They can give you the car for free and charge a $30,000 doc fee if they want

    Frieght fee aka destination fee is a 1 time charge for whoever buys it new. Anyone trying to pull that on a used car is just BS'ing

    Was this financed or cash buy? There are dealerships that penalize cash buyers. Yes, this is a real thing. Financing gets a discount vs cash and its due to kickbacks. They are illegal yet nobody is pushing back on it.

      Sold a ton of cars all over US and purchased setup logistics on all my own deals, appraised cars in Vauto and bought cars from auction which had to setup logistics in those purchases.

    Why would he say I want 10% but it's OK if you can do 8%, Guess what the seller is going to choose 100% of the time. THE LOWER PERCENTAGE. Just stay silent. You are a horrible negotiator giving the seller an option for a lower percentage. If you want 10% ask for 12%.
