This Toyota Salesman LIED to Justify An Extra $5000 | Live Car Negotiation (Car Purchased)

- One of the biggest tricks car salesmen like to use to justify adding thousands extra in price when selling you a car, is telling you they have limited stock available & that the cars are selling like crazy. This Toyota salesman told me they had only one car in stock - when their website listed over 100!

Want me to Negotiate Your next car?
www.delivrdto.me
Do you also negotiate with Canadian dealer?
@@jayd6098 No he does not at this time.
Do you just negotiate new cars or used too?
Dude got caught in a lie red handed 🤣
Yes he did
Trolling dealerships, the hero I didn’t know we needed 😂.
At your service🫡😂
My local Toyota dealership never has new vehicles in stock. They make you order what you want and wait for it to get built. They use this ploy to markup and say they are near impossible to get…
"To provide the very best service", we may lie like a rug and rob you blind.
Sometimes it really is like that lol
@@Delivrd I may have missed it but have you gotten anywhere with Sequoias? Limited or above? I think what's going on is they keep these trucks at port so as to keep what's on the lot really trim so they can play the whole scarcity game. A hundred available once you order one but until them do stock up on lube.
Salespeople are really caught in the middle with these markups. They’re told to lie to customers and try to sell them on bs products. I’ve worked for a couple dealerships and they’re all the same. As a customer now I shut them down with their pitch but I’m not mad at them. It’s the greedy owners I have a problem with that put the sales guys in a crappy position.
And...they provide shitty service in the service department trying to shake down customers by recommending unnecessary service work.
Looks like all dealers are in infinity shortage of supplies since Covid-19.....😂
The current administration is talking about price gauging at grocery stores on egg prices when they typically deal with a 2% margin on goods. Laughable!!! Look what car dealers across the Country are doing to consumers and you will really see gauging!!!! Unreal.
This happened to me with a RAV XLE recently. I got a Corolla Cross XLE in July for 8% below invoice, went back to the dealership in August and they basically told me to F off lol.
A dealer adjustment in this day would cause me to walk away no discussion. Dealerships see the amount of people that are upside down in there cars due to over paying during the pandemic and they are still doing this crap. I honestly don't feel sorry for them when they go out of business. I know several people who ended up buying a Mazda instead of a Toyota for that reason
People need to start leaving 1 star reviews for the dealerships….
Everyone is number one dealer in something, the bar is low so it makes sense.
"So you agree I shouldn't buy a car from you guys?"
City Toyota is known to markup their cars. All their salespeople justify they’re the only one that has that specific model and option. $9,500 markup on Land Cruisers, $5,000 markup on Tacomas, and $3,000 markup on Tundras.
Who is marking up Tacoma and Tundras?!?!
The same dealership you called in your video. City Toyota in Daly City
I attempted to buy a Ford Raptor Ranger. After clearly telling the vendor I wasn't paying a mark up - they then refused to move anywhere on their original quote on my trade. I had two trades, asked for 3k between two trades and MSRP - they said no. The total ask was about 5% either from trades or on Raptor. I walked as it was clear if they weren't getting their mark up - they weren't doing anything else.
Here in Calgary Canada Toyota dealers sell new Camrys but call then "trade ins" @ separate locations for $10000 over MSRP. No kidding.
Another Toyota Dealer is more reasonable & I can get one in 2 weeks if I buy $4000 worth of sketchy 3M film & extended service & warranty ad ons. Otherwise I was told
to wait until next spring when they might have some inventory in stock & then might sell for MSRP & a $999 Doc Fee which is even on Toyota Canada website = $4000 gross profit on a $41000 SE AWD. Now they just want $8000 to $14000 Gross profit. Dealer greed factor runs high here in Canada. Almost forgot to ad if you trade a car they want $10000 spread between what they will give you vs what they will sell it for.
Toyota salesman can thank smartpath for misleading customers on Toyota inventory.
My local Honda dealer in So Cal. they would have one Accord on their lot, one Civic, etc, they would double space them and put cones between the cars, the lot was full of used cars. Ask the salesman about the Accord and they will point to it and say we only have THIS ONE on the lot with 7K in dealer add ons.
Drive around the blind corner and there are over 250 brand new ready to go, on a back lot.
Even MSRP now is ridiculous with how much prices have increased.
Hard to imagine High Volume stores selling at the highest prices
Dude said there was a shortage two seconds after saying one was available with no reservation like cmon man
These dealers are high on glue!!!! 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Don't recall this one. He didn't actually call back did he? lol
How do you know a car salesman is lying?
The lips are moving.
😂😂

This was a crazy negotiation!
People that pay over msrp are not doing their homework.
Name names. It’s City Toyota.
The poor dealership guy has no cars. I think you should have gone to the lot and counted them up, lol.
Smart price isn't something that is actually legal nor illegal. There is no market adjustments that are justifiable.
I don't go to any dealer anymore. I insist on getting out the door price via email. Buy or lease. I don't tell them anything about me and what I have or own. This is car/truck I want, color, option, trim, THAT IS IT. If they say, you need to stop by, I move on to the next. Simple as that.
They won’t stop until we stop buying and I believe that day is here. Early 2024 should be open season with discounts.
This is exactly why Tomi gets hired. Because he can wade thru the swamp of dealership business. Thank you for finding the exact 4runner my daughter wanted! People, if you just dread the dealership experience do yourself a favor and hire him. Well worth it!
Thank you for the kind words! Glad I could help!
And this is why im buying a honda...
I just did the same thing. I bought a Civic EXL hatchback for $30660 after TT&L. I got a great deal. Stealerships who perpetuate this "market adjustment" bullshit long after the covid/chip shortage crunch is over are putting themselves out of business. I also cannot understand anyone willing to finance an extra $5000.00 for absolutely nothing. So average depreciation of a new car driving away from dealer is 9%. MSPR is 35K and you paid a 5K market adjustment. Your drive away depreciation just changed from $3150 at MSRP to $8150. Unreal.
Just look at the Mazda CX-50 they are discounting them 3K.
so...what happened? did they call back? offer something else? accept?
I wouldn't pay a cent over MSRP for a stinking Toyota and I expect a 5 to 10 discount.
I am surprised that this channel doesn't have more subscribers.
Thank you :) we are working on it.
Hopefully next week we are two video a week consistently and that will help.
I have ZERO Camry's in stock...dude that's one of the most COMMON cars on the market. So either your dealership SUCKS at carrying basic inventory, or you're lying.
$47k for Camry XSE 🤣 i have been driving Toyota for las 8 years but when they would not give me even $500 off of the Camry I just bought a Tesla Model 3 LR AWD for $39,900 after tax rebate. It was $2k cheaper than Camry!
Between you and car edge, I was able to get almost a 6k discount with free maint for 4 years on a 24 mustang. I picked a good time and a dealer willing to negotiate. Tomi still the goat of haggling
@sensei. Posting comment after my “live” superchat 9/4/24. Great show!
Nor Cal area sucks purchasing cars
Thanks for the advice Tomi!
Glad I could help!
The public would rather buy the cars from the manufacturers. The over msrp thievery has permanently stained our taste for dealerships . Can you imagine the folks that paid thousands over msrp for the Palisades which are going to drop like bombs the next year . I seen civic SI s 4K over . I noted every dealer in my area that pulled this crap and a couple that did not . I’m also counting the 5k add on for lug nuts and tint . Same dif . As a car guy I get asked 20-30 times a year at work on car buying advice . What do they think I’m going to advise folks of . I do think your buying help is great for folks financing a new car . Have told folks of you .
Tomi at work, only time for a quick comment! Love Tomi's shows.
Thank you!
These kind of unjustified markups should be illegal...
You guys are sooooo young, these crooks have lied on everything since the beginning of time!!!
This is why Tesla is the best experience I've ever had. Bought it on the app in minutes. No BS.
Lol I own a Model S Plaid and it was $148 new. Same car now is $100k. I was gouged. One price is worse than regular dealerships. People don't understand how sales work. At what point did buying cars that have 8% margins mKe customers want 15% off but you pay full price for food, furniture and everything else that has 300% margins.
A car dealer LIE?! 😱
Thank goodness you caught the super rare event. Imagine the odds.
So can the dealer give a discount off the prices due to the depreciation when the vehicle drives off the lot? 🤷🏻
Legend has it Tomi is still waiting for that call back
Definitely considering hiring Tomi for my next purchase
the edit at 3:53 in the video, showing the inventory, does not technically give away the name of the dealership but it does give away the city where the dealership is located. If folks want to put together the name of the dealership I suppose they could from that shot? Is that something that should be blurred out, or edited?
I agree sir. But maybe he can get away with not actually saying the name of the dealer?
Tbh they can kick rocks
"mmHMMMMMM" cheeky little salesman
Hey tommy, what would be a good % off MSRP that I can negotiate towards for a Mazda CX90?
I ordered a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid last week and it will not be in stock until November.
I hope Toyota one day starts selling directly to the public. Markups in 2024...PLEASE...
The only problem with this is I want to negotiate down from MSRP or invoice. If they sell directly, they’ll be selling for MSRP with no negotiations. I’m not down for that.
The whole reason we hired Tomi, is because we didn't want to be scammed, swindled, hoodwinked or rip-offed! The whole experience has changed, and requires a pro, and that's Delivrd!
Glad we could help!
They are all insane. I won’t buy anything without $2500 off sticker. Walk. Laugh. Live.
lol ill definitely give you a call back…. 😂😂😂
I was able to get a 2025 Lexus NX for $1000 under MSRP. Bad deal?
Toyota dealerships have been disgusting the way they want more money and act like they're doing a favor because its a "quality product " and its a "toyota ". Hopefully they get their asses in shape when they lose sales on their trucks the next few years
isn t the tundra pricing and blown engines a fiasco? camry owner here. I hear their quality is slipping no?
@@subaruamazon they're having trouble selling the trucks, due to the high prices. The engine issues are just the cherry on top. However, the "car" products (RAV-4, Prius, Camry, etc) are absolutely flying out the door and they know for an absolute fact that they can get people to pay at least MSRP if not more. You'd have to catch them in a real bind at the end of the month for them to want to give you a good deal on their popular products. Why give you 7k off when some rich boomer or clueless millenial will gladly pay over MSRP?
@jceess true , really i can only hope for economic recession in the next 3 months . I need a rav 4 hybrid and i think if i get a higher trim I'll be able to pay msrp with a good interest rate . Ill keep waiting though if i need to , my tacoma is 21 years old now but still very reliable
@@jceess sold cars in college. will never take advantage of me.
@@Snelliscool sold cars in college. do what this guy does. call around. not magic. keep expanding your radius if you need to. strike a deal do paperwork fedex. you can do it. toyotas are a little tricky because people want the cars. gm and stellantis dont get you have an affinity for your taco and i for my 01 camry 151k got love from a 77 celica in college.
Dealer wants to make a cool $500,000 extra on 100 cars. Amazing
Craziness...
This is why I'm glad I bought two new cars in 2020, right before all this crap started happening. Bought them for thousands under invoice. Between high prices, dealer markups, and crazy interest rates, its a wonder that anyone can afford to buy any car.
You need to view "The homework guy" Kevin and Elizabeth would provide you with excellent information on how to deal with dealership!!!
Lol he asked for that stock number sonthey can fix there mistake so now they can say they have a shortage 😅
Commenting for better reach.
you're a legend.
Now you know why they have 109 RAV4 hybrids in stock 😂.
they have 0 in stock goofy, and all rav4s at most toyota dealerships get reserved before coming.. they dont sit on the lot
people who have 109 of the same model on the lot are american dealers, if they dont discount then THATs a problem. not when all rav4s are getting reserved at original asking price EVERY TIME before coming on the lot

and if you cant give me a logical rebuttal, then you are the 🤡 and can take yo 🤡ass to a dodge dealership where they discount everything for 400 beacons like you
Dude on the phone has no social skills. How does he even sell anything.
Would you be able to tell me how my dealership sells cars thousands of dollars off of MSRP. Sullivan Mo Laura. New to the dealership.
Than why do they need him as a sales person?
Hey Northern Cali don't buy marked up Toyotas go buy a Mazda. They are cheaper and here in recent years are more reliable. Maybe when they get 300 Rav 4's on their lot because no one is willing to get screwed they will take the 5k mark ups off. Tomi is so much more polite than I am I would have asked if the 5k mark up came with a bottle of lube.
Hence why Ill never buy a new car again.
buying used is just as bad right now.
If a deposit is placed on a vehicle still on the way to the dealer is haggling still possible? Or should haggling be done prior to the deposit?
Based on my recent experience, you should haggle and agree on a price before making the $500 deposit.
And so what happened...did they make a sale ?
This sales person is making me mad ngl
Yrying to earn my business? Nah lol
Goddamn i hate bay area car dealerships i bet thats city toyota. I barely got a Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid for msrp no dealer add ons. Total bs
As you wish
Another stealership
this bullshit is why i no longer consider toyota as worthy of my money. just bought a subaru xt outback. 2 week wait. far better car
It's California, they FEEL that they don't have enough inventory. If they FEEL that, they're superior to you, so don't argue!! Lol!!!
Such a dumb comment.
I remember this 💀💀💀🤣🤣
Just a waste of breath.
The salesman is not a decision-maker. Why are you wasting your time?
My man youlook so old in that thumbnail. Dont use AI 😂
Look this is a pic fro the streamathon lol
@@Delivrd Oh that makes sense.
Whats the conclusion lol
For the algorithm
The salesperson doesnt make any decisions regarding the price. Most people would be happy to get the 5k off and get it for MSRP on a strong demand car like that so of course hes not going to care much about dealing with you.
leaving a comment for some free stuff Thanks @Sensei
Youre so aggressive but its hilarious and justified when theyre tryig to scam you
If the vehicles aren’t in stock and on the lot, it should be illegal to present them on the website or advertise them for sale. Scammy stealerships being scammy as usual
