Not really they’re posting cars that are not in stock on there website a lot of these cars haven’t been built yet. Just the fact that they post a 5k adjustment online shows people are willing to pay for it. Not trying to justify a 5k adjustment but if you don’t like the mark up just shop elsewhere, vote with your dollars and these dealers will learn their lesson really quick. Also that’s 3 stores inventory not just one, so just the fact that that’s 3 stores not one and they have there incoming units coming in they may actually have less than 5. Share the store we’ll verify.

The current administration is talking about price gauging at grocery stores on egg prices when they typically deal with a 2% margin on goods. Laughable!!! Look what car dealers across the Country are doing to consumers and you will really see gauging!!!! Unreal.

LOL i just had a dealer lose out on selling a 60K car after tax license etc etc...all because he did not want to remove a $455 dealer option that he pre-installed. I found the car I wanted but the dealer added a door trim keypad. IN the day of remote entry and key fobs etc... why would anyone want that?? SO I asked can you remove the added option and knock the $455 off the price. He then tried to tell me that it was a factory installed and the price was included from the factory (basically saying no that's how it comes from the factory) I said no that not right I'm looking at the window sticker and it clearly says dealer installed option $455. I also told him if I go to the website and build one it is also an option and states that, again its a dealer installed option. (this was all by text by the way) I then told him I have seen a few others on another dealer website and I will check those out, and then thanked him for his time. I then found the exact car I wanted and got a quote from another dealer which was about 2K or so off the MSRP. A day later the first dealer texts me and says hey if I just take off the $455 will you buy the car? I replied "Nope, as I said I do not want that dealer added option on my car as there is no need for it when we have key fobs why would I ever need a keypad on my door pillar, and I also don't like the look of it on there". I never heard back after that. oh and I'm picking up my new 2025 car today 9/30/24. So he lost out on a basically 60K car deal all because he did not want to remove an option he installed just to make $455🤦‍♂

Salespeople are really caught in the middle with these markups. They’re told to lie to customers and try to sell them on bs products. I’ve worked for a couple dealerships and they’re all the same. As a customer now I shut them down with their pitch but I’m not mad at them. It’s the greedy owners I have a problem with that put the sales guys in a crappy position.

Seriously….these dealerships are crazy. I was called by a northern Cali Toyota dealership trying to get me to come in and “talk numbers” on a 2025 Camry SE. I told them I wasn’t interested in buying yet. They begged me to come in still because they got credit for having people come in to talk numbers. The sales manager got on the phone and also begged me to come in. I again told them I wasn’t interested yet. I’m a Florida resident living in cali (military). I told them my situation was complicated since I would need to register in Florida. They were adamant they could help me. Still told them I wasn’t ready. The next week they put a $1995 dealer markup. I don’t understand how they have these markups. Last year they had the same markup on their 2024 camry hybrids. The next closest Toyota dealer has a $4995 markup. I’m unwilling to even entertain a conversation with these dealerships when they put the markups on.

My local Honda dealer in So Cal. they would have one Accord on their lot, one Civic, etc, they would double space them and put cones between the cars, the lot was full of used cars. Ask the salesman about the Accord and they will point to it and say we only have THIS ONE on the lot with 7K in dealer add ons.
Drive around the blind corner and there are over 250 brand new ready to go, on a back lot.

I had two trades, asked for 3k between two trades and MSRP - they said no. The total ask was about 5% either from trades or on Raptor. I walked as it was clear if they weren't getting their mark up - they weren't doing anything else.

I'm in Eastern/Central PA. I tried to buy a new Rav4 Hybrid XLE Prem. I looked locally to within 50 miles and literally none in stock. All had some in transit or being built but the dates were weeks out. I kept increasing the search range to 100, even 250 miles. I found the exact car that I wanted in Maryland but the guy was telling me about their $2000 markup for out of state.🤦‍♂🤦‍♂ Some of the closer ones had $1000 markups in the form of some bs dealer add on. In NYC, there are almost none available because the taxi/uber fleets buy them all up. And if they have them, they add $1000 or some worthless dealer add on. I ended up finding one in Philly (an hour away) for $600 under MSRP.
So yes, many places have low inventory, some have literally 0 in stock, and maybe all in transit or built, but the ones who have a lot either in stock or coming with a week or two and are demanding markups are just greedy bastards.

Here in Calgary Canada Toyota dealers sell new Camrys but call then "trade ins" @ separate locations for $10000 over MSRP. No kidding.
Another Toyota Dealer is more reasonable & I can get one in 2 weeks if I buy $4000 worth of sketchy 3M film & extended service & warranty ad ons. Otherwise I was told
to wait until next spring when they might have some inventory in stock & then might sell for MSRP & a $999 Doc Fee which is even on Toyota Canada website = $4000 gross profit on a $41000 SE AWD. Now they just want $8000 to $14000 Gross profit. Dealer greed factor runs high here in Canada. Almost forgot to ad if you trade a car they want $10000 spread between what they will give you vs what they will sell it for.

Customers should pay what they feel to pay, congrats you purchased a brand new rav 4 for 6 grand, SOLD would this help out a lot of families that need reliable vehicles YES

Toyota dealerships have been disgusting the way they want more money and act like they're doing a favor because its a "quality product " and its a "toyota ". Hopefully they get their asses in shape when they lose sales on their trucks the next few years

@@subaruamazon they're having trouble selling the trucks, due to the high prices. The engine issues are just the cherry on top. However, the "car" products (RAV-4, Prius, Camry, etc) are absolutely flying out the door and they know for an absolute fact that they can get people to pay at least MSRP if not more. You'd have to catch them in a real bind at the end of the month for them to want to give you a good deal on their popular products. Why give you 7k off when some rich boomer or clueless millenial will gladly pay over MSRP?

Hey Northern Cali don't buy marked up Toyotas go buy a Mazda. They are cheaper and here in recent years are more reliable. Maybe when they get 300 Rav 4's on their lot because no one is willing to get screwed they will take the 5k mark ups off. Tomi is so much more polite than I am I would have asked if the 5k mark up came with a bottle of lube.
