    As to affordability it really depends on where you're coming from. For years we were SO broke that we could ONLY afford processed foods. We lived off of beans, pasta, rice, Hamburger Helper, and cereal. Back then we were buying the ABSOLUTE cheapest food available and couldn't even afford to buy an occasional pound of ground beef to put in spaghetti. We would either have it with just the spaghetti and sauce (cheapest sauce that I could find, always) or we would experiment with adding in beans (which wasn't very good). At that point in time carnivore would have absolutely been impossible for me.
    When I finally came to carnivore our finances had been a lot better for the last couple of years, and I was eating meat, fresh vegetables, and buying all of the odds and ends that people with a "normal" budget might buy. So then it was a good trade off, buying meat in place of everything else.
    When I try and explain to people that some people really can't afford carnivore they don't get it at all. I don't think they realize what kind of food poor people eat. I think they assume everyone is buying the snacks, ice cream, fancy sauces, fresh vegetables, meat, etc, and you can't get them to understand that that's just not true at all.

    • @lindaa2437
      @lindaa2437 3 місяці тому +2

      People also assume that every severely overweight person is stuffing their face with donuts. I was not. As a diabetic I ate as my drs told me to, but I was always hungry. When I 100% stopped eating fruit and all but lowest carb veggies did that constant hunger eventually stop. Someone who hasn't been there doesn't understand. Dr Berry always says just do the best you can on your budget. It is not easy. I know I felt judged when I was at my highest weight, even by doctors. I stopped going to a doctor because of his bias towards me because of my weight. One day I want to show him I lost over 85lbs with no diet meds AND zero help or compassion from him.
      I am so happy your finances now allow you to feed yourself healthier foods. May God Bless you and your loved ones and thank you for sharing your story. You may have opened up someone else to having less judgement or someone that there is still hope for them.

    I lost 65 pounds on keto in 2 years then got myself sugar addicted again. Gained 60 pounds back. I stalled for 2 years and can now say I’ve lost almost 15 pounds this year! Through it all I’ve learned so much but by falling and gaining the weight back and stalling, one thing I learned that I could have not learned if I hadn’t fallen is; I now know I have red light foods, I am an obstainer with certain foods, pasta dough inflames me and makes me feel like poop and lastly I can not handle sweet things anymore. Now I try and remind myself that I learned so much that I wouldn’t have if I hadn’t fallen.

      I always say take that word "try" out of your vocabulary and replace it with "do" or "I will". "TRY" sets you up for failure, "DO" says I will get this done, or incorporate this into my life. And we don't fall off the wagon, we are in charge and we are the one who drives it into the ditch. Only you can choose to stay on course. And when your wagon is in the ditch, don't fret, steer it back onto your path and do not look back. You haven't failed, it's a minor detour. It's truly a journey and YOU are totally in charge. Love to you.

    Hey Cassie. I didn't experience the digestive issues because I eased into carnivore-ish gradually. First did keto with very little success, then went ketovore, then went ketovore/carnivore, now I'm carnivore-ish.
    Pros: lost and maintaining 85lb weight loss, much lower BMI (out of the red zone), less dr visits, some ailments cured (asthma & eczema), other ailments greatly improved (diabetes, arthritis) or progressing much slower, no longer the largest person in the room, can still go up flights of stairs in spite of severe spinal issues, etc.

I did lose the weight, but losing the inflammation, the painful headaches, the sensitivity to the sun, the lack of energy and a general weakness is overwhelming. No more chapped lips and skin tags. What? No more brittle fingernails. Better sleep easier movement. I can keep up with my Grands. It's a lovely way to live.

    My husband's nephrologist was amazed and happy that his Stage 3 kidney disease backed up to Stage 2 in a year. His mother was on dialysis for years prior to her early death in her 60's. He's 71 with chronic pain because of far-advanced degenerative disc disease and a knee that needs replacing. If only eating this way would fix that condition, but it's not a magic wand for everything and this situation has been going on for over 40 years with high BP (well, it's all over the place from 130/80 to 175/110) and severe back pain. He has lost some weight, about 30 lbs, but is stalled out. He does keep having to punch more holes in his belt so he's reshaping, but has more internal healing to do. I've been ketovore into carnivore for over 5 years now, back to a normal BMI though 10 more lbs gone would be nice, and I take only one medication for my hypothyroidism at almost 68 years old. My readings have not changed in 20 years though I wish that I could dump that one med. I lift weights and try to do the things on the homestead that my husband can no longer manage. Just picked up another 1/2 grass fed cow a couple of days ago so we are meat-rich at the moment, eat a lot of eggs from our own chickens. I've never tracked my macros because it triggers me to have to think about food all the time, worse than looking at the scale every day. ~Cynthia

He eats emotionally a lot of the time to distract him from the excruciating pain in his back (many discs are simply no longer there) and bemoans how eating this way has taken his only pleasure in life, LOL *little violins are playing*. I think if it would help his back pain, maybe he'd become closer to Lion. As far as the beef, first we got 1/4 cow, then as that was dwindling, we bought a half and this is our second or third half cow. It's spectacular meat. It's really cost effective, saves running to the store and buying beef that has questionable stuff injected into it so also saves money. When you go into the grocery store, you always spend more than you planned, right?

    I absolutely HATE cooking. In fact, I have a spoon rest that says "I fucking hate cooking", no lie. But on carnivore I don't mind it. I do keep it simple, and rarely do "recipes" and instead just cook the meat as is. But it's so much easier than measuring, chopping, all of the extra dishes. I have a good routine and always have something thawed out, and so it's just a matter of throwing it in a skillet, slow cooker, or air fryer. I've also noticed that on carnivore I have a LOT more motivation to just do things in general, even things that I don't particularly like to do, like cooking. When I get off track I'll find myself just standing at the fridge because I'm hungry but I don't feel like cooking anything. When I've been back on track for a week or two I'm back to just getting in the kitchen and doing what needs to be done. Sometimes I even wash the dishes right away. ~gasps~ I used to be SUCH a procrastinator, so that's really a big deal.

    Down from 2 pots a day to 2 cups a week is amazing!!!
    I am pretty new to watching your channel so I'm sure I missed why you wanted to cut down so much on the coffee. I had to cut out caffeine last November when I started experiencing heart flutters. I still have about 3 or 4 cups of coffee per week (decaffeinated). I didn't notice a huge difference with the heart flutters with the lowered caffeine. The real difference came when I was about 3 weeks into carnivore.
    I do LOVE cream in my coffee! To help cut out too much cream I've started making what I like to call "breakfast coffee" by putting a tablespoon of butter and 1 to 2 eggs in my coffee and blending it with an immersion blender. I don't even miss the creamer!
    Love your channel! ❤❤❤

    I started having gout in my 20s. I did the no red meat thing and followed every study about what not to eat when having gout. Turns out the best is not to eat anything. Dead end stupid science... Started carnivore and am gout free for 2 years now. I have not been to a doctor since my last kidney stone about 10 years ago. No blood test, I don't even now my blood group. So there was no doctor scare tactics when I started with carnivore. I never wavered or cheated, I'm to scared to. How did I do it? I suppose, it depends how desperate you are. I was on my last snake oil and it worked. I am a farmer and mobility means making money to survive. I struggled on crutches for years, yes that's how bad the gout was. I am now 58 and feel 30. There are no solutions in life, only trade ofs. I traded pain for cake with a smile on my face.
    Don't let life pass you by with what ifs and coulda woulda shoulda doctor talk. Live for today, not a heart attack in 30 years when you are a 110. Give carnivore a go. Make your own scientific experiment and conclusion.

    Hello CQ tribe,
    I'm a 50-year young perimenipause woman who's in remission from chronic Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was on a weekly biologic injectible medication "Enbrel," with other prescriptions like Celebrex, Methotrexate, Tramadol & Prednisone at times that made my immune system sick and my body obese & weak starting at the age of 27. I started eating a ketogenic lifestyle in September 2019, and I'm mainly carnivore "Ketovore" now. This way of eating is the only thing that has helped my weight loss of 60 lbs, severe pain, inflammation, and other metobolic health conditions. Also, I love being in nature, grounding, circadian rhythm & I eat no seed oils, sugar, or processed foods. I started lifting heavy weights, strength training & balance exercises 4 times a week last April 2023. It has been a new life for me! You can seek your true health every day, starting with what you eat/drink & don't eat/drink. Following & implementing Dr. Ken Berry & RN Neisha's Proper Human Diet "PHD" has been a huge part of my success.
    Peace & Health, Christine Peters

    Day 70 on carnivore. Started sleeping better immediately, it used to take hours to fall asleep. IBS disappeared, I can finally just go out when I want to without worrying about where the toilets are. After a couple of weeks my stiff shoulder disappeared. That had bugged me for years and made everyday tasks really difficult. After 5 weeks I swallowed something yucky and could suddenly breathe properly again after 30 years battling with nasal polyps, 2 surgeries, drugs etc. I’ve lost weight, don’t know how much, I don’t own scales, but 3 belt holes down and back to a more youthful shape. I didn’t really expect that as I was just a regular straight up and down, slightly potato 62 year old shape. I didn’t think any of these things could be improved but to be completely healthy and not on any meds at my age I think is great. No plans to stop but I just started allowing myself one non carnivore meal a week. I cook a delicious organic recipe box meal ( serves 2) for my son that he really looks forward to and it was difficult to know what to do with the spare dinner. I give him the lions share, have a small portion myself with nothing really bad in it and it seems to be OK. I also have a very few blueberries after my evening steak and feel a bit brighter for it. We just have to do what allows us to continue long term.

    Carnivore can be ketogenic. Ketogenic is high fat, moderate protein. High protein, low to moderate fats for most people won’t get them in therapeutic ketosis. Too much protein turns into glucose in the bloodstream. It’s not healthy to have elevated glucose all the time. Track and measure and stay in ketosis.

    • @LMPM0909
      @LMPM0909 3 місяці тому

      Ketones are not important for someone doing keto for weight loss. They are another form of energy that your body utilizes, and the longer you are on keto the less detectable ketones you will have - because your body is using it. Exercise will elevate glucose which is not a bad thing. Protein does not turn into glucose, and low/moderate protein will be detrimental to one’s health and success long term.
