Much more than a review, it’s an homage to a beautiful work of craftsmanship and pays respect to all of the work that went into making such a fine automobile. @@anydaynow01 I mean Toyota spent over 10 years, and 1 billion dollars, this is an amalgamation of what seems like peak technology at the time, literally letting engineers create what others can only dream of being able to create.
The fact that there’s both Japanese and English subtitles demonstrates how much attention has been paid to detail here. Thank you for all the effort you’ve put in for us!
Not to shit on LFA, because it is one of my favorites, but it wasn't exactly the fastest car for it's price nor category. When you consider something like Murcielago SV, 599 GTO, 458, Gallardo SL LP570-4, 12C, SLS AMG, Viper, ZR1 Vette...
@@neilmurphy845 yes I know its like that highschool athlete that the coach knows has amazing ability but only shows flashes of it in a game but never shows enough consistency
Yes, thats why its such a shame they couldn’t be bothered to do it to revive and build the new version of their own iconic sports car... would’ve loved to see what they couldve done with the mk5 Supra as a true from the ground up toyota engineering product, and not a redressed BMW..
@@turbopickle9720 That's true to a point, but there are economies of scale when you produce more than 500 cars. Toyota absolutely could have brought this car to price parity if they'd looked at a longer term timeline with it.
@@turbopickle9720 this is true but most of the cost comes from the development, not the production which actually makes the car more expensive to make than to sell. Cars are expensive because of how much they cost to develop. To really make a profit you have to recoup the cost of developing the car in the first place, the production is quite inexpensive relative to the R&D that goes into it. It's why mass production, affordable cars, share platforms and platforms are generally speaking updated rather than fully redeveloped when a new generation is released. The price is based not just on the cost of production but also the expected sales of the car, as well as the amount produced relative to the goal that is making a profit over the development costs. It's why less manufacturers are developing manual sports cars, because they don't feel the millions, sometimes billions, of dollars spent developing the car is going to make a real profit. It's why the Mk5 supra was a joint project between BMW and Toyota, same with the BRZ/86 between Toyota and Subaru. Honestly Lexus probably could've lowered the cost by increasing production and making them for longer, but it's possible they weren't equipped to produce the car at a larger scale and that still doesn't mean people would have bought it. Your brands image plays a large role, and Lexus isn't particularly known as an expensive Supercar brand. Most people walking into a Lexus dealer aren't looking to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars.
One of the admirable things about this channel is that they will put so much effort into reviewing a car that isn't being made anymore, and that likely none of their viewers will ever buy. Such a deep presentation of the engineering of a car a decade old is remarkable.
When a LFA used to be $500k. The world finally appreciates this masterpiece of a vehicle. it's almost impossible to believe that there were 2 unsold examples in 2019 just sitting in dealerships.
A masterpiece of engineering indeed. However, it lacked pedigree, history and the design was/is too cautious. I’m not surprised there were unsold examples. It will take time and docs like this for people to truly understand what it is all about. And even after all that happens, the vehicle will never have a Ferrari or Lamborghini aura. In stead, it will remain an honorable mention.

If youve been anywhere near literally any video where the lfa appears beside some average supercar, all everyone talks about is the lfa. People completely ignore everything else. Some make jokes about people who bought a ferrari instead of this car back in 2011. You have the opinion of car journalists from that era...

As a Long time Lexus employee and a F owner, Thank you for this Documentary that finally defines the true "Pursuit Of Perfection" Lexus wanted the world to see!
Pretty sad, isn't it, especially when BMW has built some great sounding N/A cars. Think M1. Turbos are fast, but the engine note is lacking. Euro particulate filters are the final nail in the coffin.

@@briansukhu4392 Its was only overpriced because they delayed the whole project sadly. But still the perfomance is insane today. And they made loss with every unit sold
No it's not. It's all fakery. Performance was worse than older cars and even the awesome sound wasn't an honest engine note but a vibrating surge tank, and the interior sound is "faked" by using holes. The 6 years older Carrera GT sounds just as good, and Porsche just made an honest engine without resorting to trickery. It's a faster car too.
whilst it is undoubtedly an engineering master piece and right at the top of my list, I dont consider it an all time great because it didn't offer anything new or even remotely ground breaking, which from Japanese company with an unlimited price and budget was a big disappointment for me. They talked it up as being an incredibly lightweight, with an engine revving too fast for analogue equipment which was horseshit. I never compare cars on numbers but Toyota fell short of their claims. Porsche had a V10 4 year previous with more power and torque and same displacement. it had an automate manual, when double clutch was common place, it produced the same power as n/a rivals at half the price and it wasn't any lighter.
@@dagnut All cars are 4 wheels on platforms. They all don't offer anything new to society. The LFA does what it does especially well therefore it is one of the all-time great cars.

When people ask me why I like cars, I just send them a video of an LFA on attack. Mark & Jack, thank you. For letting me continue dreaming.
I’ve been looking at this video for a long time now, trying to find the time to watch it. Sad, but somewhat understandable. The SG videos are more detailed about engineering and history than most care about. Your average kid of 16 (or 40) wants color and excitement, not discussion of the oil change process. Beautiful as these videos are, they're still for a specific kind of viewer.

@Akiz Biri I heard the car was a financial flop for 400k a piece, perhaps they should have sold it for 600k.
@Akiz Biri you can’t sell a car for less than what it cost to make.
@Akiz Biri with the new GR Super Sport hyper car coming out I think they still do!
Cannot believe we have a chance to see a review of this car again

The pursuit of absolute perfection. I will own it one day with help from everyone around the world. Thank you all. Thank you Savage Geese for the amazing information, attention to detail, and cinematography!
I pray you have your moment the same way that Doug DeMuro just did with his Porsche Carrera GT!
Saw Lexus LFA... NEVER CLICKED SO FAST IN MY LIFE.
Thank you for this ❤️🙏🏽
Absolutely Bro 😂😂
Yup same here!
Great documentary. Nobody else incorporates the history, B video, and engineering nuance you do. Thanks for the quality you bring.
Fucking word! lol. I love me some doug demuro, straight pipes, and throttle house but savagegeese is by my favorite.
How this channel only has 400K subscribers is beyond me. With this level of production quality and in-depth information this should be on a TV network or Netflix or something, crazy how it's free to watch these videos.
The LFA is a gem. That power plant is ridiculous.
THE documentary, it deserves an IDA Documentary award for 2020. I have been watching your videos since the very beginnings, at that time you were among many youtubers that were on my weekly schedule. As for today you are THE car reviewer for the majority of car lover around the world, your competition is unexisting. Glad to be your patreon supporter, you really deserve it. Thank you, Mark!
This is the only channel that is capable of making a video worthy of the LFA. Bravo for this accomplishment. You're the best.
i know this is overrused, but still, its a Lexus Finest Art
for all those who dislike, you will never understand what does it mean to make relationship bond with the car, this is what LFA is all about the true bond between a machine and human its not about how fast you can go more about how can a human and machine can become one... a true living master piece
LFA. The most underestimated car I've ever seen.
Tf??? It's literally one of the most legendary V10 cars ever tf you smoking lmao
@@justsomepandawithinternet sadly it is underrated. Yes it is a legendary but if you look at a POV of successful machine, sadly it's not. I wanna get my hands in one someday, but there are such less than a Carrera GT. And I think that's why they are so much underrated, cuz yeah, it is comparable to a Porsche Carrera GT, but if you look how many was produced, you will see how successful that car was. I think it was cuz of the marketing, because if you compare a GT with a LFA, the GT is way too many levels of successful car, not talking about the car itself, but of the numbers of the produced. In my personally opinion, LFA was another level. The car is just orgasmic
Also watch a Donut Media video about the LFA, you'll understand what i'm talking
@@marcusbondev1990 this seems to be pretty common for japanese cars for some reason. They truly are like fine wine.
@@kenim mostly Toyota’s. Even Toyota says their cars are more appreciated after they’re gone.
I will personally make a trip to that dealership just to lay my eyes on their LFA...
"The brake plate has a rough and grippy texture towards the center of the pedal which tapers off to allow the driver's foot to smoothly shift between to throttle and brake". Wow, seeing the attention to detail makes me have so much respect for this car. A true bespoke sports car.
I never truly appreciated this car as much as I do right now. This is beyond F1 tech this is a timeless piece of art.
The patagucci on full display again, the boys didn’t have to flex on us that hard.
Besides this being a special car, this documentary is absolutely - phenomenal.
The reason that you respect and appreciate the effort of engineering for the LFA is so evident in the quality and detail you put into this and all of your videos. It's a powerful mirroring of ethos that makes this video feel, respectfully, as crafted and bespoke as the vehicle itself. Your production levels and ability to tell a story with nuance, intelligence, and just enough "rear end" humor really show a mastery of your craft. I get more smart and enjoyable entertainment out of your show than in nearly any other professional media that is currently out there. It's so refreshing to have a sprinkling of care and thought put into modern entertainment. Thank you for doing what you do Geese. I hope you and Jack on your way to making millions by following your passions. Mad respect.
This is the second or third time I’ve watched this video. Amazing stuff. Amazing car.
Jeremy Clarkson loved this car so much he called it the best car ever driven.
To be fair, he's said that thru the years about many cars tho... He said it about the ferrari F355 too
@@blackstaticband Clarkson is a knob however he has driven hyper cars since the LFA and he still thinks the LFA is the best car he's driven.
Did he buy one himself?
I wouldn’t listen to clarksons view on anything, Chris Harris is the man to go by...
“Toyota was in F1 at the time”
Proceeds to show crashes.
Sums it all up.
I'm willing to bet that certain brands deemed "endless money pits," that engaged in Formula One and IndyCar were able to cross the finish lines with far fewer accidents.
I want teams to join F1 because it needs more manufacturers but Toyota was a clear example of why big manufacturers are hesitant about entering. Toyota spent millions in F1 with little success and it didn’t improve their brand image much. And on the other hand they have had a lot of success in WEC and WRC yet not F1. Strange
@@philips6182 Formula 1 is a very complex sport even for big car manufacturers they will struggle. In F1 every single thing is needed to run a team no matter what. Success like Mercedes is a big risk when they start early on the 2014 regs with no guarantee of success.
They did get a couple podium finishes though
@@ciello___8307 Yea but their target was to challenge the other big teams and they also have a huge budget.Similar to Renault ,their target was to challenge the top 3 teams themselves already have a five year plan on doing it.With a disappointing 2019 finally they light in the end of the tunnel.
You've truly done this car justice with the level of detail and effort you put into this video.
Thanks very much for the tour!
YOU FILLED MY HEART WITH JOY WATCHING YOU DRIVE IT AND APPRECIATE THE LOVE OF LEXUS LFA AND ENDING THE VID IN A LEXUS YOU DRIVE. GREAT VIDEO. GOD BLESS YOU!
