As a former LFA owner I genuinely didnt realize it was so rare. The dealer I bought mine brand new from had several of them in stock. Wasn't even on the showroom, they had them on the lot.

The cheapest one here in Middle East is near 720,000 dollar, I would buy Lamborghini SV instead of this one 😂😂 it's beautiful car and I love it but there's no way a person would pay half a million for it except Collectors.
Which is why they should have used this platform for a new Supra. It would have lowered the costs enough to make the Supra affordable while also sustaining the LFA. But that probably made to much god damn sense.

The LFA is like the coolest jacket you see right on the first shelf of a thrift shop, but with a price tag of $3000. Everyone still likes it nowadays, but 375k in 10 years ago was not a joke. You can buy a whole multi-unit building with that money 10 years ago or even more.
The LFA is a timeless design in my eyes.
To me it looks like it was released a year ago.

@@stevenkelby2169 the gear box would have been selected even before they began production (aka 2000). Even though they swapped the chassis the amount of reworking to fit a daul clutch wouldn't be worth it.

One of the best sounding cars ever built. Sadly, the price was over the MOON. The design was good, not transcendent, but really good. I hear some of these cars are still extremely pricey. Lexus, build another one, better design, great motor, and not attached to a price that runs away potential buyers.

Went to my local lexus dealership a few years ago. The owner was selling his personal lfa. It was unbelievable in person, they wanted me to take it for a test drive. I thought about it but I really didn’t want to wreck it.

The one time you realize that such a beautiful engine sound exists in very few video games. I'd love to see Lexus make another Super/Hyper car with a motor that amazing. Mix that motor with 1-2 Forced Inductions and pair it with a dual clutch transmission and the end result would be absolutely insane. I hope you're listening Toyota.
Forced induction would take away the engines godly harmonic acoustics.
@@flyarmin24z While you have a good point I'm going to point out a few theories: 1. HP increases from 552 to 600+. 2. The redline should remain 8K+ which will result in a unique sound when you're in the higher level RPMs. My 2 points also apply to the SRT Viper.
LFA is an engineering masterpiece
If only it wasn't too expensive but on the other hand if they we're to cut costs I don't think we'll have the same masterpiece.

@@georgedillon1768 the reason it cost some much was because of delays, same goes for the new NSX.
They never intended to earn a profit on the car. If it had been mass produced as a model run for 10 - 15 years it would have sold they said for about $100,000 - $120,000. The near $500,000 price tag I recall seeing when the car was introduced was more for the privilege of owning such a rare car that was never going to be in production again, and also to recoup some of the cost of development.

GT-R is more of a sports car tbh, while the nsx and LFA got the true supercar treatment, but now it seems like the nsx got the upper hand out of the other two cause the LFA as we know had a huge price tag and it's going up as we speak, and the gtr barely got any updates, the nsx now got a refresh and it's now better.

This is the best car of any foreign car built. If you research all the work they put in the acoustics of the engine it’s truly incredible. Such a great sound and I’ve had the pleasure of seeing one roar off in the sunset in person lol. Truly an incredible sight / listen...

It was the stig's favourite car.
It's confirmed in the F12 review when, at the end, Jeremy says " The Stig said this (the F12) is the only car to hold a candle to the LFA" .
The Porsche Carrera GT and the Lexus LFA have the best sounding engines.
Carrera doesn't sound good from inside its hardcore f1 sound from inside

The Carrera GT is much better imo primarily for it coming in manual for the better driving experience.

I wouldn't consider myself a car person, or at least I wasn't when this car came out but it was so memorable to me when it came out. I remember seeing those commercials where they put a wine glass behind the exhaust and shattered it by revving (I have no idea if that is actually possible with this car). I also remember wondering why a super car was being advertised on regular tv.

It came out on the same year I was born and when I went to the Lexus factory in Japan as a kid I was given an LFA toy but I wasn't that into cars yet and I only became one recently so now that I can appreciate it I am regretting not being into cars in the past.

Agreed. It's an enigma that car people with a show or a magazine to write still over analyze.
In case people didnt know, the engine was actually designed & built by Yamaha. Yamaha have done afew engine builds for Toyota, from the Celica to the MR2 to the Camry... Yamaha's work is much more prevalent in the 80s and 90s moels and petering out post 2010ish...
The sound elements of the engine was actually tuned by Yamaha's audio division who took it out for testing and arranged the car's cavities, envelopes and casings etc.
Hard to explain, but the engine bay, through to the footwell through to the exhaust mounts, the materials, etc were all specifically calibrated to achieve that sound...
So there you go, many people used to ask what would ensue if Yamaha were to build a car, well, this is it...
