- FDNY 4 Truck responding first due to a car fire in Midtown, Manhattan. While preparing to respond, the tones go off for Engine 54 to respond to the same box. Engine 54 redirected from the Class III alarm to the car fire box. 12/30/18.

So for anybody saying it's too slow of a response, the FDNY is the biggest fire department in the U.S, if they are not first or 2nd or even 3rd due, no need to hurry. Espacially if the situation or box they are going to is under control. The reason they got em' out to the box is as backup probably. For me tho, this was a good response time if they weren't the first unit on scene. Basically in a town all units hurry because there are probably 2 or 3 engines avaliable to get a situation under control. Here a dispatcher dispatches about 3 or 4 engines, 2 ladders, 1 rescue, 1 squad and 1 battalion chief to a 1st alarm or 2nd alarm fire. So when you are the 4th engine responding, you know it musst be under control. And if they just have been called for assist, and dispatcher wrote in: under control, boy no need to hurry.
Right plus its important to not rush too much and know what your doing because no matter how good you are at a job rushing always equals mistakes
1st in US, 2nd in the world
Amazing video, 4 truck is my favorite ladder company :)
The only station company both Engine and Ladder that start winding up before putting it in drive LMAO

Nice great work
I was there today, great guys
Awesome Video Bro!!
Excellent timing 🚒🚒🚒🚒🚒🚒🚒🚒🚒
I honestly couldn’t stay in New York
Bossboy Collins too slow
Boy they do show urgency in getting to those trucks.
its likely that another company was dispatched before the seeing as its a bigger city
Nice!
Nice catch must be cool.
They look slow to watch them but you can't argue with the time. Truck rolling at 0:59 or so.
Where are they exactly in Manhattan? My son and I want to go back to New York to see more of it. We were there in November of 2019 with the marching band him and my daughter were for the veterans day parade, but we didn't get to see alot of new york.
W 48th St and 8th Ave, right near Times Square. Hope that helps
@@emergencyresponsechannel3017 it does. When covid is controlled better my son and I are going to come back and now I know where to find at least one station to see.
There is also ladder 10 and engine 10 at 124th liberty Street in Manhattan close to the trade center memorial they were the first ones on scene on 9/11
@@spookyscaryskeletons639 i remember that because the new well new at that time 10 truck came through my home town in ohio
Oh boy
Hope when I work in the FDNY I get assigned there
Are you applying?
Why do they keep sending ladder trucks to auto fire scene
trucks have the saws and other tools to assist the engine
Because they have 143 ladder trucks as opposed to 8 squads
Loudest loudest loudest loudest loudest loudest loudest loudest loudest loudest loudest loudest loudest loudest loudest loudest loudest eq2b siren Manuel ever air horn ever the all round the world can here you
Why is an aerial going to a car fire?
To block traffic to provide a safe area for the engine to work.
whenever we get a car accident in my department the tanker goes to block traffic.
Blocking traffic isn't an issue in Midtown Manhattan. You pull the engine up and you've blocked traffic, plain and simple. It's because the truck has extrication tools that can cut the car apart if needed. All forcible entry tools: halligans, axes, hooks...they're all carried on the truck. The engine doesn't have any of them at all as far as I've ever seen.
DeltaFoxtrotWhiskey3 why not carry those tools on the engines?
@@DeltaFoxtrotWhiskey3 in the early 80's, a firefighter was killed when a drunk driver drove into a scene and hit a firefighter.
That's why the truck goes. It's easier to repair a vehicle than deal with the aftermath of a dead firefighter.
My city is faster than that
I also bet your city doesn't have a truck company responding to almost 4,500 runs year.
It’s also possible that they are not the first due truck for this run. Additionally, once they hit the road, they can make up time by running the lights.
@@DBR00 They were first due but whats the Truck gonna do? Put a water can to it at most? It has no water on the truck anyway haha.
Trucks in NYC have extrication and cutting tools to open hood or trunk. And sawzalls, rabbit tool etc. Engine hasn't.
And I assume you’re from San Jose?
