I still have the utmost respect for the NYPD! Thank the DA for the fact that criminals aren’t prosecuted here.

Great video! I'm especially fond of the Plymouth Gran Furys followed by the boxy Chevy Caprice starting at 1:33.

1:12 I love that Plymouth Reliant. Note the silver-painted bumpers and black rub strips, all those were normally body-colored on retail K-Cars but this is a special fleet color. The many, many Air Force dark blue and Army pale green ones were the same way. I wonder how the normally-body-color grille bits on a Dodge Aries would've been treated.
I think the blue wheels aren't how Ma Mopar delivered it though!

@@FCV0511 Monaco, Coronet and Fury aren't the same car? What's the difference between them besides the brand and finishing details?

@@patrickschio3913 The Monaco and Fury looked different and were on the C-platform when the Coronet was on the B-platform in '75-'76. When the Fury and Monaco moved to the B-platform in '77-'78 the Coronet was discontinued. The Coronet of '75'-'76 also has round headlights in square housings whereas the B-body Monaco and Fury of '77-'78 have stacked square headlights.

@@FCV0511 wow, it looks like MOPAR turned the Monaco and Fury into something similar to the Crown Vic in the 2000s, a specific car for the police, since this body looks a bit anachronistic for the 80s

I am not American and nor do I know the models of the cars but one thing I do know, the American shows I loved as a kid that were shown in the UK and Even Germany had these, I think all old American cars are so awesome but especially the police ones! I guess though I love all old British cars and German too but nah, nothing beats one of these old American police cars. I would love to own one!

1:12 I'm sorry, but can't accept THAT car to be a vintage NYPD unit. Looks like it was just dragged out of the scrapyard and painted the colors. Just seems to be out of place.

It's accurate - the NYPD did use Chrysler K-cars in the early eighties. They were shortlived since they didn't hold up well at all, but the city was experimenting with various emissions and cost-cutting approaches at the time.

The NYPD did use marked Chrysler K-cars for a short period in the 1980s - the city was trying to save money and use less gasoline. They unsurprisingly didn't hold up well at all and weren't particularly well liked by officers assigned to them.

I mentioned it in its' own comment but it does have the correct silver bumper covers and black rub strips for a car delivered new in a special-order fleet color.
