what about smoke damage and structural damage to the bldg on the left? The ladder truck that was on scene and not in operation should have been set up so that when the tower ladder set up, all the ladder truck had to do was charge the supple and get water on the fire. There wouldn't have been a collapse or the collapse would have been interior.
I think they did a great job of getting the best handle on this that they could. This is not an easy situation. So much respect for these firefighters.
all 3 houses were a total loss because of the smoke damage to the house on the left and the complete loss of the 2nd and 3rd houses. In just about ever video I see in Jersey they let the house or building get completely out of control and lose the structure because everyone is standing around or there's one guy on the nozzle spraying water on a fire that's quickly getting out of control.
Outstanding video, Skyler! And hats off to all the members who responded to this call. Things could've been much worse with that exposure B house. They really did do a hell of a job!
Great video. Seriously bad fire. Fire service did a great job of preventing the spread. Fire in those closely spaced houses is a real nightmare, seems to me.
And fully-attached housing is obviously much worse, as what is very COMMON in San Francisco. So, we cannot be sure if S.F. has really learned the lessons of 1906. I would have to say that the house on our left, with Xmas lights on its porch railings, had to have been used as a buffer, and it's probably a goner anyway, to with the great amounts of water poured on it, to make it a cooler zone, to protect the structure to the left of that. And the air inside of that, looked PLENTY smoky.
It’s all about water. Multiple fires and water supply problems cause headaches for the fireman. When I was a fireman/EMT I had several impossible problems presented that you just had to figure out as fast as you could. Glad I just the watch this video and didn’t have to fight it. Great job by the firefighters and the videographer.
I agree with you, Skyler. A collapse zone was needed in front. Luckily the house on the left peeled off in sections. It's too bad a tiller was positioned right in front of the incident structures. Several engines with deck guns would have been more useful with all the overhead wires & trees in the way of aerial setup. Covering all exposures is all you can do once structures are fully involved given the volume of fire.
It's not just Jersey, I've seen it in quite a few states, mainly Florida. But as being I'm *originally* from Neptune NJ, I get you. Especially when it comes to Ocean Grove or Bradley Beach. Pretty much the entire shore, but especially Monmouth County. Greetings from Seattle!! We have one of the best departments in the country,up there with FDNY, Chicago, Boston,LA and SF. Tacoma and Portland Oregon are straight garbage IMHO. BTW new subscriber!!
Great video, and well covered. Would have been nice to have some other viewing angles, but I understand the restrictions faced at the scene. Deepest sympathies to those who lost property in this fire. Excellent job by the fire team, especially given the circumstances.

You cover a lot of fires and extremely well I might add. Since you are exposed to a lot hazardous situations I was wondering (and hoping) about any personal protection that you may use. Keep up the excellent work.
Excellent video really good job capturing the intensity of the fireground. Those firefighters did an excellent job containing the blaze to the fully involved dwelling. Could easily had gotten out of control if they didn't take care of the exposures on either side.
And overhead web of power lines are such a problem for firefighting in a neighborhoods like this. The trees don't help either. After the tiller stick was deployed if you listen closely to the coms you could hear an officer saying that they needed to move it because they were touching the power lines.
excellent job Skyler Thank you for finding the radio channel I was hoping the white exposure house would not catch on fire Very thorough & professional reporting Thank you Skyler --- Debbie
Perhaps because of the lack of man power, one hydrant at the end (dead end as that) of the street, trying to protect the "b" side from going up and many more disadvantages all the "right steps" could not be taken right away. The original fire building was gone before arrival of FD. But they did save the B building.
I understand your thoughts but they had heavy fire on arrival before the line was charged they already backed out was just to much fire... they didn't have all there companies do to another fire at the same time. they had to wait a long time for mutual aid
Oh yeah well if they hadn’t shown up this fire would’ve gotten way out control so good job bad job they extinguished that fire and put it out and their heroes no matter what
Great job by all. Frustrating things is that when it's time to re-build the new house will be placed within 2 feet of the next house like it's been done for the last 100 years. They never learn.
I pray that there was no loss of life of any individual or animal. Sad, in a blink of an eye you can lose everything. I hate fires, it's so devastating.
That was a pretty dang good job saving the exposure on the bravo side consider all that heavy fire. How does a 3-story structure become completely involved like that. It must have been burning for quite some time before fire was dispatched. Or maybe it was an exposure. Great video, but sad.
My God! This was a serious fire. So sad for those families who loosed everything. 😢. What I don’t understand is that the main building material for these homes is wood. In my country, the Netherlands, all the inside and outside walls are made from bricks and concrete. The floors are made with pored concrete. Windows are triple layered and fireproof. These wooden buildings are fully involved within seconds. Can somebody explain to me what the regulations are regarding the building rules? Good luck for those involved.
Wow it had to be hot where you were standing. Great job covering this inferno. I'd say they did a good job knocking this down and protecting the exposures wouldn't you ?
How uninhabitable would that white house (directly next to the collapse) with the Xmas lights on its porch have become? All of that water pouring on it, to prevent its involvement looked like Yosemite Falls. I do hope that I properly understand what you were trying to present in this vid.
The deck gun guy is cool. One question I have is I thought firemen needed to be clean shaven to have a tight fit on the masks? I guess if he just does the deck gun, it's okay? I live on Jane Street. The guys did a good job under difficult circumstances. The people who lost their homes want to come back. Waiting on the rebuild.
Eh IMO the "can you do better" tshtick has its place, sometimes however it feels like a cop out to actually responding to those who make meritless complaints (and in other cases, easily dismiss potentially valid complaints) that gets things nowhere.
Wow great job fighting a Fire that size and for saving the other houses. Im not a fire fighter nor do i live in the States but i was just wondering why do they build the buildings so close together?...Where there is a potential risk of fires. i hope no one or fur babies was hurt during this fire.
Odd image with the house on the left it's lights still on, only light smoke condition and directly next door, only a couple feet away an absolute inferno!

Great video Skyler. Lots of good action shots and I’m sure the companies appreciated the shout outs you gave them.

I've seen this so many times in Jersey - they set up the ladder but it takes forever to get the water flowing.
Not sure why Jersey even has any aerial support. Every fire video I have seen, they do not implement this equipment until it's to late.
Nor do they position the ladder truck properly on arrival.
