Well presented.
WOW Very nice finds
Thank you for checking out the video and for your comment!
Excellent content! Really enjoy.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a comment!!
Beautiful country. That dinner plate was sweet.
One of the coolest things I have ever found for sure. Always wanted to find one, gonna have fun restoring it. Thank you for the view and comment!! 🤠
@@BrassMedic post it once you get it done. I’m curious how it turns out.
@@vetdetect I will for sure! Good reason to buy some more quality, hardwood dapping tools! 🤠
Going watch later, good to see a hunting video, keep them coming!! H.H.
I am going to try and keep a good serving of adventures coming on this channel, a little bit of everything in the hobby. I know I really enjoy watching the adventures but "have to" watch tutorials when I need to, just can't always say I enjoy a tutorial 🤪 Thank you for the view and comment!
Good video Mark. You made some good finds.
Thank you Wes, yes that plate really made the whole hunt for me, just something you never see dug. Was a nice location. Went out to one if your old stomping grounds from way back in the day and got a few pieces with the 6000. The area just North of the old lumber mill on W-O Rd.

That plate was an awesome find. It’s amazing how much gold has come out of there. I was out there with Scott a couple of weeks ago and found 4 little pieces. That 6000 is pretty amazing in the size of gold it will find and the depth it finds it at. Put a small coil on it and it will give a VLF a run for its money on small shallow gold.
Plate might have lead in it
Hmmm, never thought about that... but many of the cans including most food cans were lead sealed in the early years of the California Gold Rush. Thank you for your view and comment!
Awesome video!! I have cabin fever so bad. We will probably have snow here in Northern Nevada until April or May lol. About 3 feet in my yard haha. Might need to travel somewhere just to swing the detector. Keep the videos rolling in!! Thank you.
I couldn't even imagine being snowed in from detecting 😬 I know you guys got a lot of it this year too! Thank you for the view and comment!!
Was my pleasure, glad to see there's still some juice in that spot 🧐😃
Like I said, the site was so epic to look at, could have cared less about finding anything, just an awesome place to see and experience! Well thanks again dude!!!
Really nice video production!
I grew up on an old farm with a ditch on one side of the property and on the other side a ram pump. Neighbors property has a driveway that was the old wagon road, with a bridge over a creek and a natural cold water spring water flowing out of the swamp for the travelers. My friend found the location of the spring and rebuilt it. We would drink out of it on hot summer days.
I've always been impressed with the amount of dirt they moved by hand. I had a chance to talk with the grandpa of the previous owner of my parents land. He said "When a man didn't have anything to do he would grab a shovel and start digging." He was in his 90's when he said that, probably the mid 1970's. His house sits behind where there was a log cabin.
Lot's of dumps for each farm house in the woods or in the middle of the field where they tossed the rocks, that go way back in time.
That's really neat, what state was this in? I have always lived in areas with lots of early history so I guess it's natural that I am an avid treasure hunter. I found my first quality detector find in 1976 and when I saw it cone out of the ground I was hooked right then and there! Got real serious about detecting in 1985 when I bought a Whites 5900 DI Pro and been an avid detectorist ever since. 😁
Love your videos! Nice fancy buckle and a neat location. Lamp part was cool too. Very ornate design on those things. Thanks for including digs of the not so exciting stuff as well.
Thank you for the kind words. I know I enjoy watching detecting videos where they dig the junk too, rather than just quality dig to quality dig. Always looking for feedback from the viewers to figure out how I can make better videos! Thank you for the view and comment!
Great video. Beautiful landscape. You would enjoy hunting here on the west coast of Norway. 😄. How do you think the Manticore would have handled that site? Too my iron? Keep up the great work. Really enjoy watch your videos 😄
I definitely would enjoy that!! Yes Manticore would have had trouble mostly because of the coil size with so many targets so close together. Since it was an invite, I kind of stayed out of their really good area and worked on the perimeter a bit. Thank you for the view from Norway and for the awesome comment!!
Awesome Mark! Always fun hunting with Bill!
No doubt, great sense of humor and fun to hang with! 🤠
Great video! great area! I'm up north in Paradise/Chico and really enjoy the foothills... I have the CTX and still really like it. I'm really wanting a D2 or Manticore for hunting trashy parks or iron infested areas. It's coming down to updates and coils...Probably D2 for instant gratification, not sure if I have the patience for the Manticore waiting list. GL&HH
These are all the same issues I face and many others... tough decision. The CTX-3030 has been VERY good to me over the years but I agree, it lacks some in heavy iron due to slower processing speed. Hoping we can get the smaller coil soon for the Manticore. But for now the D2 with the 9" coil is the go to machine for the heavy iron. Your pretty close to me but I don't get up your way much. Thanks for the view and comment!
@@BrassMedic I'm down that way quite a bit, Grass Valley, Nevada City, Colfax, Alta, El Dorado Hills doing home inspections. Places like Dutch flat are amazing with the old houses and history. Sierras are awesome! GL&HH
@@paulandresen8671 We should def try to get out on an adventure, my email is in all of my video descriptions!
@@BrassMedic absolutely! I have a D2 coming Wednesday and also still have the CTX. My other detectors were lost in Paradise. Slowly getting back into the swing so to speak.
Awesome video I noticed you use a d2 & the new minelab mc. I hunt park's - sports field's & yard's 95% of the time. for old silver coins & gold jewelry. I have a minelab nox 800 love it found a 187 silver coins in the last 2 year's I can't make up my mind between the d2 & the new minelab mc if you could only have one for what I do which one would you want. Like the videos & value your opinion thanks
Well right now the XP Deus 2 is still king in the heavy iron. Once the smaller 8"x5.5" coil comes out for the Manticore that could change a bit. Since I almost exclusively detect heavy iron it would be the D2 right now. But if I were primarily a beach or park hunter I would choose the Manticore. If I were detecting goldfields I would need more testing on the Manticore in gold to make up my mind but the D2 hits gold really good so either would probably be fine. We're waiting patiently for those coils to get here, just like many are for the machine to ship to them. Thank you for the view, comment and question!
Love your channel, being from NC, it ain't Civil War, but you tell a forgotten part of US history that I find fascinating, and those gold nuggets aren't bad either...tks for sharing.
Thank you Gary for the kind words, yes it's a major part of US History but for the first few years we were not even a state yet and the diversity of the finds we get here come from literally all around the world as the miners came in by the boatload. Just never know what your going to see. Yes, those surprise nuggets are incredible and a good reminder of where I live every time one surfaces. Glad you enjoy the videos, Thanks Again for the view and comment!
I bought my first real metal detector a few months ago (Garrett Apex) and have had a blast digging in a Sacramento County park near the American River near my home. I’m sold on all I’m hearing from you and others about the Minelab Manticore and will likely buy it. I’d like to take it somewhere that would yield some actual gold rush era relics or vintage coins. Any suggestions on places to check out? Im growing weary of where I’ve been swinging.
Sorry, just now seeing this old comment! Trying to catch up on all comments so it takes a long while. Hopefully by now you have a Manticore? If not check out the deal down below in the comments where you can get a killer deal plus my 5% discount on top of that! The key to finding gold rush is to research the original road that went from Sacramento to Placerville during the gold rush create along the Route there would have been stops black are modern-day truck stops along the edge of a highway. If you're able to find some of these old way station stage stops, you will do very well. Other than that you can do some research anywhere near water and where there are tailing piles from the old miners digging they had to be living somewhere nearby the strategy has worked very good for me. And there is a lot of places like this on public land just outside of town in all directions. Thank you for the view and comment!
I just got back from San Diego did not bring my detector 😂
So much EARLY history down there too!! Spanish and explorers were all over that area. Maybe next time!! 🤠 Thanks for the view and comment!!
Hey Brother, remember that pile of gold and silver coins you found in California. Well I've got a spot for you, that I won't be able to get to anytime soon. This location is hundreds of Gold coins, but I get a 10% cut of the total amount (paid in coins). Let me know if you are interested.
I would give you more than 10%!!! That's a paltry commission for such an epic lead! Email me at the email in the description. Thanks for checking out the video and for the comment!
