Hey, most of these comments are so mean. I would rather have someone like Bryan Johnson on the world stage, being vulnerable, getting us to think about our health than all the corporations that are selling us junk that ages us twice as fast ,
Well said.
How do you know he is not aging worse? Looks can be deceiving.
People are awful
@@trappedcat3615 He uses verified medical testing. Check out his youtubes on this.
@@trappedcat3615 "..Johnson constantly monitors his vital signs. Each month, he also endures dozens of medical procedures, some quite extreme and painful, then measures their results with additional blood tests, MRIs, ultrasounds and colonoscopies." from Reddit
So many people misunderstand what Bryan is trying to do. They want to fight his findings and conclusions about aging without any evidence of their own. I respect how methodical he is with his thinking and speaking and also with research. We need more Bryan's to push forward various fields of science and research.
Mad respect to Bryan for being so honest, generous with sharing what he’s learned, and for pivoting from generating fake wealth to true wealth.
Agreed. Bryan doesn't tell people what they should or shouldn't do. He merely shares his data and protocol.
Interestingly in long form vblogs, Bryan actually shows is intelligent humour and honest compassion towards others. It doesn't often come across in Q&A videos, articles etc
Even in the face of online nasty comments, Bryan stays composed. It's refreshing actually.
I really love this. This man is basically using himself as a guinea pig on what works and doesn’t work for anti-aging based on scientific measures. And then he is giving the information to us. Thank you.
My husband's aunt lived to be 101 and she had an amazing sense of humor, led a very active social life, spent a lot of time in nature, walked uphill 2 miles everyday, then back down (PA hills), ate a lot of her family farm meat, raw milk, chicken, eggs, homemade soups, and plenty of butter. She had great cognitive function and walked to the end of her beautiful life.
I just love LOVE hearing amazing and beautiful life stories such as your dear Aunt💗 . My dear Grandma Mary (my husband's Grandma) just turned 100 years old on April 7, 2024. She did not and still does not do anything mentioned in our "bio-hacking circles." She lives on whole foods (being of 100% Italian decent), enjoys the sunshine, loves her family, socializes regularly with lots of laughs and is full of quick wit. She walks and moves throughout her day living independently in her home of over 80 years...100% cognitively intact---still doing her own laundry up and down the stairs and cooking. No health issues (other than macular degeneration). She is just AMAZING! 🌟
@@rachaelalbanese1851 I truly beleive that stairs play a big factor here. Betty white said that she always lived in houses/apartments with stairs. And she did not follow a healthy diet at all. And an article I read many years ago stated that she got a lot less sleep that most might think too that leads to a long healthy life.
Likely had very fortunate genes on top of all that. Especially the gene that allows the dumping of excess cholesterol either from food or created by the liver... Some people are just that lucky.... I'd love to have her diet
She probably would have lived to 110+ eating healthier. Movement and social life are very important. Very nice age.
...and she didn't need to take the supplements! Much cheaper life...Health has not to be so expensive!
I love how Bryan listed the most important rules to follow that almost anyone can follow. You don't even *have* to do all of these things. Do what you can:
1.) Don't smoke
2.) Exercise (6 hours a week is ideal)
3.) Follow a Mediterranean or Blueprint Diet
4.) Don't be overweight (BMI 18.5-22.5)
5.) Moderate to zero alcohol consumption
6.) Get good sleep
Thank you, Bryan and Thomas.

It's nothing new these rules, except people don't want to follow
Ah, but that #6 is the hard one. It seems that Bryan's whole life revolves around that. We civilians can't even tell if we're getting a good night sleep - deep and REM. Those Oura rings or Whoop bands - and especially the annual subscriptions - ain't cheap.

It’s awesome when a hobby, turns into a passion, turns into a quest for the greater good. As a psychologist I see too many people who pursue a life of wrecking themselves and numbing out. I have to say I was biased against Bryan going into this video, because of what I'd heard and read on the internet when he went viral a while ago, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I don't necessarily agree with everything he said of course, but he does seem like a nice and intellectually honest person. He actually thinks about what he is going to say before saying it, and not just spews word vomit and science jargon. And even if n=1 and some stuff is questionable, the fact he is trying all these different things on himself to try and push knowledge and technology further is pretty amazing, when he could just hoard his wealth or spend it on dumb stuff like a lot of other ultra wealthy people. An interesting conversation, thanks for bringing it to us Thomas.

‘Separate Bryans’ is a self-soothing technique. Parents soothe their children, by calming them so as adults we are supposed to be able to do it ourselves because we’ve learnt this. I also tell myself this is my time to sleep, these thoughts are for tomorrow, it calms my mind and I fall asleep.
Yes. But you don’t tell yourself. You are just the awareness of what is. :)

My mum’s aunt lived to her 100yrs still active , while I was growing I remember her as a very creative petite woman with her red lipstick and she smoked those tiny cigarettes occasionally always smelled good and preferred walking long distances she didn’t like to drive in cars also she was a person who enjoyed learning new languages by self taught very clever and always woke up by dawn very religious and she cooked all her meals.
Therefore don’t over eat, walk more, be active, be kind, and make yourself happy and occupied by nice things in life.

Well, you gotta figure, he said his skin was badly aged when they tested it and he is basically heavily limiting UV exposure to help reverse the aging markers in his skin. Interesting at around 26:00 Bryan mentioned calcification of the pineal gland. I recently theorized that calcification of our body, especially the pineal gland, gives older people their slower movements, as if their bodies are becoming brittle. I've been looking at supplements to decalcify my body, such as vitamin K2, magnesium and an herb called chanca piedra (stone breaker). I also read an article about a recent breakthrough in Parkinson's where they used gold to decalcify the pineal gland. I found a colloidal gold that claims to decalcify the pineal gland and I plan to try these supplements for a while as a cleansing routine.
That herb is called " patthar Chanta " ( stone breaker) in India.
Good interview and knowing how Thomas likes his scientific studies he's an ideal person to interview Bryan. You could sense his genuine interest and curiosity. I'd be interested to know what Bryan's 'clean rating' would be for Thomas' supplements though. Bryan's not wrong when he says a lot of supplements are dirty.
I love the idea of separating your different selves to not overwhelm oneself with problems or issues

Bryan is a great ambassador to longevity studies, and you asked the right questions.
I would like to see some follow up with his team on those key measurements you mentioned.
Personally, I think he needs to induce more stressors and then measure adaptations.
Start with full sun exposure.
Everything clicks better for me when I get 45 min full sun.
Bryan's endorsement of EVO has me remembering how good an extra tablespoon here and there makes me feel.
Great interview! Short and to the point ❤
needs a steak and some sun
Sun is bad for him because his ultra low cholesterol in his diet. The body needs cholesterol to convert sunlight into D3.
He does need some steak and eggs though.
“Someone can do what I do for only $1500 a month which includes groceries so it’s very, very cheap.” 😳 That’s definitely my not my definition of cheap, let alone very very cheap.
Remove every vice, remove all going out, eating out, every coffee, or snack, and factor in this covers your entire grocery budget and it gets slightly more feasible.
I get your point, but average groceries for 1 person in America in a big city is easily $400 a month unless you're on a bar bones budget. Add up every single vice, drink, snack, consumption, that's another few hundred depending on your choices. If you make the average income for America then the difference between 1500 and whatever you would spend anyway isn't that enormous.
@@LetsEatSomethingNewbottom line being vegan is not healthy. If you have to take 120+ supplements to make up for your vegan diet. This is NOT healthy. I take a lot of supplements just because I love certain herbs but I don't need them to be healthy
@@LetsEatSomethingNew True. It’s the “very, very” cheap comment I’m disagreeing with, especially in today’s economy.
Not where I live. A steak at the grocery store is like 60$. Unless you’re eating junk food.
I probably spend about $600pcm on groceries. Then supplements is probably about $150. If you cut out all the vices it's not necessarily super easy but it's definitely viable.
I mean if you look at his daily food it's far from expensive. Mostly veg, nuts, berries & EVO.

Come to the South and have a three=piece catfish plate with vinegar cole slaw, a buttered baked sweet potato, and three hush puppies (with internal green pepper relish), and home-made tartar sauce. Add two slices of Vidalia onions. Oh yes, huge glass of unsweet tea with lemon juice (made with Voss water). You'll live to 120.

Bryan Johnson is the man! Listening to him routinely has improved my lifestyle and vitality!
Love the channel, but i gotta truly ask how could any human make claims about longevity when they even have lived 1/2 of their life’s and have no point of comparison.
He's working with the data he has. From this data, he compares himself with different age groups, an approach that is evidence-based and a key part of the scientific method.
How about actually LIVING AND ENJOYING the LIFE you CURRENTLY have to the FULLEST, and stop trying to POSSIBLY extend your life to beyond NORMAL HUMAN LIFESPAN where you'd be TOP OLD ANYWAY to ENJOY the things you SHOULD BE ENJOYING NOW!
Why on EARTH would ANYONE want to live to be 120 years old? aka A Walking (highly doubtful) CORPSE.
@@voaneves no, his thing is a grift.. he's a grifter.. its sad to see people for this obvious grift.... he's selling supplements from this "experiment"

Lol then you have a small mind. The whole point is to live .... who wants to be alive and falling apart, dying slowly and feeling sick.
Drinking, eating partying and smoking is not living.
Great interview with lots of good tips
I once did a study on centenarians. These are people that routinely lived well into their 100's. I was trying to find common denominators between these groups of people. It was pretty simple. They all had very active social lives and stayed active in their communities. They laughed and danced as much as possible and had zero stress.. They ate very little calories but what they did eat was nutrient dense. They didn't have automobiles and they walked a fair bit every day to get fresh food. I think Bryan is going to deter people from longevity practices because he makes them look daunting. Following even half of his routine would stress people out to the point that the stress would disrupt the longevity. I think the key that I found in my studies is to just live your life as stress free as possible and love hard. Most people would choose a shorter life versus a longer life that requires you to check all these boxes every day.
My man looks like Data from Star Trek. 🤨🧐
I knew he looked familiar
Yea, I've been saying that for 2 years in all the comments
Yes. This gives me an idea. Maybe he can take part in the next star trek series, or movie.
He generally looks good enough to take on Jadzia Dax from Deep Space Nine... Like he would better her the entire time
As far as Thomas asking why a retired person would have a harder time falling asleep, or what they would be stressed about he's going off of a retired person who kives in a nice home that is paid off, and doesn't have to worry about money, but someone as my parents whom are kiving off of one income, don't have great health, and taking care if ny elderly grandmother on top of many things is very stressful. My mother if she's lucky gets 3 ir 4 hours if sleep, I can naturally get 3 or 4 hrs of sleep. I sleep more when I take melatonin and muscle relaxers. I always wake up to use the restroom, so everything Bryan is saying is very interesting and something I'd like to try. Thomas needs to take into consideration that sometimes too much time to think can be very stressful on the body. So I hope he comes actoss this comment and realize being retired at a certain age doesn't mean less stress, it could do the opposite, too much time on your hands to think could be a recipe for over thinking, over analyzing which causes stress, and can affect sleep. My 91 year old grandmother has both Alzheimer's and dementia. I don't know why people from her Era make it to or past 100, and it isn't definitely from eating all the things Bryan eats, though growing up Hispanic/Mexican we always ate a lot of fruit and vegetables. Snacked on nuts, seeds, beans, and tortillas. Everyone is different, and mental illness doesn't help either.
This was a very cool talk, thanks so much Thomas! I’d So love to get 2 hours of Deep each night! Thats impressive in itself, let alone all the other things he’s doing and has achieved with his body! Loved listening to this one

He’s sacrificing his life for science. Wonderful things happen after 8pm and boy so much wonderful food he is not experiencing. Not to mention the relationships he is missing out on. I want quality over longevity.
And how do you know he is not experiencing quality of life while doing all this ?
He seems happy and loving life.
Quality is subjective. Your quality is the pretty much the same definition most humans have. Ever thought about ppl having different understanding from quality?

What good is reversing aging if you waste all the extra time just doing the weird shit to stop aging.
Its like juggling balls so you dont have to hold them while you try to do other things.
True, there has to be a healthy balance. I think this dude has lost that balance.
He's a living experiment and it's his choice. Not everyone is neurotypical.
I agree and disagree. I think what he is doing is crazy but I think humanity has always had explorers that sacrifice for science. I think that, if anything, he will discover things about health that will help people in the future. I have health issues and I have found that doctors and the medical system basically don't care about anything but symptoms or they just are on 20-30 year old science. If you recommend a test as an individual, the doctors get offended, etc.
There are lots of things people do with their precious time that I find incomprehensible when we have limited time! Luckily, we are all different. Bryan has said that he really enjoys this living experiment and that he feels fantastic and enjoys his life much more than he did when he was less healthy. He finds the tinkering with his body and appearance "fun". Also, he does more than I do, happy to admit that! - works out, runs, manages business enterprises, raises kids, does loads of interviews etc. I don't think he's 'wasting' his life time.

An interesting topic came up at the end, which is supplements can have unhealthy toxins in them. I'm thinking of mercury in Omega-3 supplements as an example.
I would like to know more about why "Bryan Johnson" dropped from 100+ supplements down to 40 and which ones he dropped. It would be a service to the community if he spent some of the money cleaning out the supplement industry, and rating which ones are clean vs dirty.
Does anyone reading this comment know of websites that list which supplements have the least toxins in them?
he was taking 100+ individual supplements. now that he makes his own, he combines many into one, like a multi vitamin. he also adds many into a drink mix to cut out a lot of the pill swallowing.
@@LaciRae I'm not sure I will buy his stuff, since I feel part of this is a promotion for his products, but I'm definitely interested in the data he makes open source and public.
@@alansnyder8448 he’s an extremely ethical & intelligent humanitarian. he is just providing his toxin free & tested for optimum quality olive oil, cocoa powder, & supplement supply. all of which are extremely difficult to find otherwise.
He has a sickly look to him. I had friends with the same look and none of them made it beyond 55.
Lets compare your friends blood work with his?
@@bluekarma4its because low fat percentage get informed
he looks VERY sickly ... most vegans who been vegan for many years their skin starts to look like this, this sickly tone, not the color, not the white, its the tone of his skin, the consistency of his skin looks unnatural, like he came from a morgue... and was the patient, not the undertaker.
@@stx7389 i'll take my blood work over his any day of the week... his cholesterol is very low, which is a huuuge risk factor for early mortality... Nobody wants to talk about the data that Ancel Keyes left out of his studies... that yes, unsaturated fat lowers cholesterol, but he left the part of the study that showed people who artificially lowered their cholesterol to the floor had a higher risk of mortality from a cardiac event... every cell in our body is made from saturated fat and amino acids, the idea that whole animal meat would ever be bad for you is laughable on its face , its a farce.. doesn't pass the common sense smell test... the food our ancestors ate 98% of the time for millions and millions of years without getting cancers, diabetes, heart disease.... its only when we added seed oils into the food supply did these disease start to manifest themselves
😂
It is great to see this man proyect. Could be a big inspiration for a lot of people, thank you both😊
Here are the key points I gathered from the conversation between Brian Johnson and the interviewer about Brian's health optimization protocol:
1. Brian's daily diet consists of a super veggie breakfast (broccoli, cauliflower, lentils, hemp seeds, garlic, ginger), a nutty pudding lunch (macadamia nuts, walnuts, flax seed, sunflower, pomegranate juice, berries, pea protein), and a dinner of berries, nuts and seeds. He also consumes 45ml of extra virgin olive oil per day.
2. He eats all his meals within a compressed eating window, finishing by 11am. This helps optimize his sleep by lowering his resting heart rate before bed.
3. He aims to consume 60-100 ounces of water per day, all before 4pm and mineralized with tea or electrolytes to aid absorption.
4. The most impactful things for longevity according to Brian are: not smoking, exercise (6hrs/week), a Mediterranean-style diet, BMI of 18.5-22.5, moderate to zero alcohol, and good sleep.
5. For light exposure, he gets 10,000 lux when he wakes up before sunrise. He blocks blue light on devices and does red/infrared light therapy 3x/week for 12 mins.
6. He eagerly acknowledges what he doesn't know regarding health markers. Some settled science is around blood glucose, inflammation, WBCs, RBCs. Cholesterol is still debated.
7. Sleep optimization has been a big focus. Sleep onset under 4 mins and wake after sleep onset under 30 mins are considered good age markers. Pineal gland calcification may impair sleep with age.
8. His supplement stack has decreased from 111 to around 42 as he started manufacturing his own for quality control. Extra virgin olive oil stands out as most beneficial in his view.
9. He aims to provide a clear example of his health protocol, not claiming it's the best, but a stable starting point that puts many of his biomarkers in the top percentiles for 18-year-olds.
In summary, the conversation provides an inside look at the comprehensive yet accessible health optimization approach Brian has taken, combining nutrition, supplementation, exercise, sleep, and precise measurement to improve his healthspan and lifespan.
He upped his calories from 1850 to 2250 now. That's a good development
I thought he had put on weight. He also did not sit right up. I'm not sure this regime change has made him healthier. I'm curious to see the next test results. I'm not sure so much muscles is good for health. We will see.
Definitely looks better now!
@@HvdHaghenhe does not have that much muscle, he is just very lean AND wearing tight clothes so his muscles are very visible. If you saw Bryan with a sweater or baggy shirt on you would never think he's a "muscular" guy
Did I hear right. Last meal at 11am? I’m out.
I thort he was meaning pm lol
It sounds extreme but he is doing an alternate 18-6 intermediate fast window. As he rises 4/5am and assume he eats straight away.
I regularly do 6pm-midday when IR. Exactly the same. But vastly prefer to eat during the day!
@@HAL9000_ICantDoThat Yes, he's living on East coast time on the West coast. No idea what the benefits are.
Then you're heart rate will never be 45 before you go to sleep, and thus Bryan's deep sleep will be bigger and longer than yours.

While my lifestyle somewhat mirrors Bryan's when it comes to eTRF, optimizing sleep, minimizing blue light and prioritizing exposure to natural sunlight, that is where the similarities end. In a video that Thomas posted just a few days ago, he highlighted that one of the biggest benefits of fasting is that it gives us the ability to enjoy the vast array of delicious whole foods available to us when we are within our eating window. To be frank, I would feel miserable if I were to follow Bryan's severely regimented (in my mind) dietary protocol. There's something to be said for enjoying the present moment, and not fixating on achieving a target age. With that said -- thank you for posting this video.
I'd like to know how important live enzymes are, or can all of this food be cooked/frozen/freeze dried?
