This happened to me yesterday in the middle of nowhere Wyoming, on my way to Utah. It told me to service def system. Then about 5 min later came on and said I had 150 Mi to go. Then I pulled into a Loves started making phone calls looking on UA-cam and found out the (Diesel Exhaust Fluid injection pump) was the culprit. It was a pretty easy fix but you have to climb under the truck and it's connected to your exhaust. I had to order it to O'Reilly's and pick it up the next morning. Fixed it in the O'Reilly's parking lot and continued on my way, the code cleared all by itself about 50 miles down the road. My advice, once you see this pull over start youtubing the problem and then make your plan. Do not keep driving thinking it's going to go away cuz it won't. I tried to unplug my battery terminals that problem was still there no matter how long I unplugged them. In my eyes it was a blessing that I had 150 mile warning to figure out what I needed to get done, because I was pulling a 40-foot trailer and that would equal to a huge tow bill.
@@StingerJake a trick to get u a few miles .. when u unplug the batteries, unplug all four terminals on both batteries, then on one side hold the positive cable and the negative terminal together. This depletes the capacitors in the ECM to reset it. Do this with the other side battery cables unhooked
Suffering through this recently. Bad bottle of Maomart DEF dated 6-30-2022. Dealer in Columbia TN “fixed” for $607. Drained tank, replaced o-ring, filled tank. 370 miles later, halfway home, DEF, check engine, 150 miles to limp home mode. Dealership in Abingdon, VA showed where SVC tech in TN got DEF on pump contacts which corroded contacts. Cleaned up, plugged up, filled up and I was on my way, sweating bullets until I got within 150 miles of home. I normally use about 2.5 gallons DEF in maybe 5000 to 7500 miles depending on what I’m towing. TN to VA used a quarter tank, refilled, next 380 miles the DEF needle barely budged off full. what a messed up system. This happens again I’m buying a delete kit.

I just picked up A code reader and erased it but still have the message on the dash saying “Service def system see dealer.” How long before the message will go away after deleting the code ?

I had the P208a code come up on my 2017 ram with 197k on it. I tried to siphon some def to see what it looks like. All I got was a gel like crap that wouldn't even suck through the hose. Pulled the tank and it was full of this gell. I can't swear in court that I didn't have a brain fart and add either Lucas deep clean or Power service to the def tank instead of the diesel tank. To see what would happen I left some def in the jug and added both to see if it gelled. Nothing after a week. All seems well so far. Trucks running fine. Any ideas?
P207F , still pops up for me and I have replaced the def injector with a napa part, had a complete regen that took an hour to do. Tested the def also and it was good. Had everything tested with the fancy tech scanners and all was good. Why do I keep getting this code?
@92Inquieto came up 2 other times so had the batteries disconnected once and the other time I used a code reader from the orileys to clear it. So far so good.
Hi I have a problem with 2014 Ram 6.7 With only the P1C70 and I can’t erase the code..and still have a 5MPH Max speed service DEF SYSTEM ON THE DASH ..I replaced a def injector .. And the def pump I have only 14.6 psi
My 2014 2500 Ram is in countdown with 15 miles to limp mode and has zero codes thrown. I took it to a local Diesel Performance shop and they hooked the computer up to it as well and no codes and could not clear the countdown. The shop forced a regen and still nothing. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.
Hello Tony please help me out, have a 2016 2500 and its on limp mode 5mph limp codes are p2482 egt sensor circuit high bank 1sersor high/ p1c70 scr error detected/ u010e lost comunication with reluctant control module and p21c4 reluctant heater relay control circuit high had one of the wires on reluctant control module was torn fixed now also deff fluid not reading been at 0 and its full i know its full topped of before having problem please help me out thanks Alex
If the pump runs with key off is that it’s reverse “pumping” Meaning the system empties itself to ensure there is no DEF in the line to the doser when truck is shut off. Imagine DEF freezing on a cold night in the line. So this ensures no DEF left in line. There is a reverting valve that allows the pump to flow one direction but then reverts flow to the opposite direction.
On my 22' with the P207a code my service tech says you keep driving until you reach your destination and don't turn the motor off. Mine did it with 20k miles, I cleared the code with a scanner and got home. The dealership replaced the entire DEF tank pump and sensors. Under warranty.

Any lawsuits happening with this bullshit. No problems till I paid my truck off.
Definitely an intermittent concern. When you reset it by disconnecting the batteries you cleared the codes. Buy a cheap auto parts special code reader and next time it happens before you disconnect batteries check for codes first. If your truck has the recall don’t get it updated. Issues with the update
Just subscribed to you. Is there a way I could email you for some info on my 2014 3500 that I'm working on? I've recently removed the exhaust and replaced with a delete pipe along with removed the DEF system to do a total delete. But, after doing some work on it by cleaning up the def system lines and tank along with the exhaust filter that stated it was 100% full I'm wondering if the work I've done may have been enough to repair the problems. Even though I've installed the pipe, finding the tuner is like pulling teeth with the price of them in the thousands$$$. If possible to email to keep these comments to a minimum, I'd appreciate it if you could/would.

(And disconnect the EGR) I had a problem with the DEF faulting on me consistantly being the last one the final straw. My wife filled up the truck with some 87 octane, causing the filter to clog, possibly. Regardless it stated it was 100% full. That's when I purchased the pipe and removed/replaced it. Had a Duramax before and regret going Mopar.
My ford F250 6.7 started acting up once it got cold to much idle time it overloaded the exhaust filter the truck set all summer at the dealership I bought it at the in early November it gets cold in Michigan it warned me it was going to limit speed to 50 miles a hour in 10 miles it cleared its self and never did it again I've had a lot of diesel trucks over the years it's to bad they put all the emissions on them I still have a 2000 F350 4wd drw powerstroke I not getting rid of it now it's a plow truck

CORRECTION! I got trucks messed up! The reason why the check engine light is on is because the engine is off! Notice no RPM. Check engine light comes on as a bulb check with key on engine off! No why in the heck you trying to mess me up?!
Why no class action law suit? Stupid dangerous to force a 5 mph limp mode, maybe 50 mph. Imagine beeling stuck traveling in desert or snow country, 5 mph limp mode could be lethal.

The only redeeming quality of ram was the Cummins and they dekcuf that all up with $20k worth of emissions junk that give it the same mileage and acceleration as an old Buick. Having said that, I’ll be selling this piece of tihs soon.

Most likely, it is a common problem, clear the code if it immediately comes back, it can be.

If the pump runs with key off is that it’s reverse “pumping”

What kind of tool are you using to plug in the truck for the codes and ifo?
I have a few scan tools, but on RAM/Dodge I use my Snap On Zeus scan tool. I am trying out the JALTest scan tool now.

DEF doesn't "connect" to the DPF... it is injected into the SCR.

That is correct caught that after I shot the video. Nox sensor 2 to was the issue with that and truck was good.
