    The cost alone for this one repair is more than just having parts fall off the truck. Thanks for sharing. I think you helped me make up my mind about how I will handle this long term once warranty is up. If the govt doesn't want people taking matters into their own hands they need to offer a lifetime warranty on all emissions parts and reimburse the manufacturers provided they aren't producing garbage to begin with so that they start milking the govt with a constant stream of repairs. It is either they back this stuff up with coverage or people will have no choice but to do the needful.

      @@stinson87 the milage lock down is exactly why I deleted. It stranded me once, never again! I had a week long industrial service I was heading to, 600 miles, 200 miles in I got an error. Reset once, went another 50 and got 150 miles till shutdown. Ended up towed to the closest dealer who had my truck for two weeks waiting for parts, they more or less just threw random parts at it until they could get the codes cleared. Long story short that hippy crap cost me a service contract, made me late to the following contract, a tow, a hotel, wasted fuel, and wasted time. Dealer gave me a loaner car at least. Had we not had the countdown I would have fixed it when I got home and I’d probably still have it on the truck, instead I deleted!

    My husband and I want to thank you for making this video. You explained it very well. I have a 2014 Ram 2500, and over a week ago, I was in town when the DEF message came on with the 150-mile warning. I got it home, looked it up on UA-cam, found your video, and had a hard time finding the pump, but I finally found one and ordered an injector. I ordered the pump tool from your Amazon link (thank you so much for that). My husband put it in no problems. When I started the truck, the DEF message went away. We drove it a short distance a few times. Then I took it to town, which is 45 miles. To get my check engine light to go off, we did not have a code reader. So found out if you turn the key two clicks before it starts 4 times, let all the dash lights finish before you go on to the next, then one more time but when all the dash lights go out, start the truck. So you do it five times, and on the 5th time, you start the vehicle. Check Engine Light went out right away. The first time I did it, I went too fast, and it did not work. Thank you again. It saved us half what they were going to charge to fix.

    Great video thanks for putting it out there.
    To keep from dealing with the mess of the DEF spilling out when you pull the pump I was able to siphon the DEF out of the tank by disconnecting the filler line where it goes into the top rear of the tank. I then inserted a rubber tube into the tank and put the other end into a drain pan. To start the siphon I used the air hose with a blower nozzle. Blew air into the tank (60 psi) while holding a rag around the hose to seal off the opening. The DEF fluid seeks low pressure so the siphon starts and drains the tank.
    There will still be some spillage but very minimal. Hope this helps someone.

    Good information here: watch expiration date on DEF and never purchase from pump def station (gets hot and this shortens life of Def). Never allow to get below 30% during winter months.

      Yes, transmission pans, front and rear diffs, fuel and def tanks all should have a way to drain them. Obviously designer/engineers aren't required to work on any of these things before they start pushing these out on an assembly line. It would only take one advertising about the ease of maint features and they would all change over night.

    Went in for 30k service on a 2021. Topped of the DEF, drove 100 miles got the 150 mile warning, went to different dealer as I was on a trip, dealer says their is a fault in the tank, they are ordering part. I don’t see why this would go bad like this on a newer truck. I took off the injector and cleaned a little, there is also crystallized def on the on under the pump. I heard another person had same issue after dealer fixed computer recall at 30k. Ram needs to come up with a fix for this as these trucks are too much money to have these types of issues that debilitate the vehicle with no quick fix available.

    • @4MRanch
      @4MRanch  2 роки тому

      Yeah it sucks because the parts are way overpriced. Try running peak blue def platinum. I been using that an it’s cut down on the crystalizing. If it was crystallized under the pump that makes me think the pump was leaking or the pump seal went bad. Hope they get it fixed fast parts seem to be in short supply I’ve heard.

      @@4MRanch yeah I filled it up at the pump about 100 miles before it did this with it running. Noticed it took a few minutes before the gauge moved. They say it is a fault in the tank. Part should be a couple days. I noticed on the inside of the gas flap it shows not to overfill DEF. I had no idea. Don’t think they should be so sensitive. I am a hotshot driver and was in the middle of trip. Saw others that had the same issue after overfilling…

  • @piperdoug428
    @piperdoug428 3 роки тому +1

    My fight is it seems the heater elements have crapped out, still pumps but my gauge is bouncing around plus it false reads half full then drops to empty then gives the (240km to empty) warning, up here in Manitoba we had -60f so the dealer said probably just got froze up.

    • @4MRanch
      @4MRanch  3 роки тому

      Wow that’s cold! It got -16 this year here coldest it’s been in like 12 years. My truck did good no problems. I don’t know if the heater could keep up in that cold you would think it should be able to. I think they need to put a block heater style plug in on the def tank that ties into the block heater so when you plug it in it keeps both heated.

    Is the pump and sensor for the gauge together in the pump?, Question my DEF gauge is struck and will not move.
    Getting P203E code with the tank full . Or do I have to replace the tank ?

    • @4MRanch
      @4MRanch  3 роки тому +1

      Yes the gauge is in the pump. I think it’s called a sonar board or something like tans and it does not read until it’s exposed to air. So you have to burn a few gallons before it reads since the pump is mounted from the bottom. So if the gauge isn’t working in the pump then you have to buy a new pump since it’s built in. I would pull the pump out and look inside the tank make sure it’s clean. Soak the white side of the pump in some hot water carful not to get any water of def in electrical connections. Put the pump back in and put about 2 gallons in and see if it fixed it pumps can cost almost 2,000$. Sometimes you can find them on eBay for around 950$

      Yeah your pump is bad if it’s not pumping you can fix it yourself it’s relatively easy if you can turn a wrench. Pumps from Mopar are about 2 thousand dollars which is in my opinion stupid for what it is. Dang thing would cost more than 300$ for what it is. You may be able to find one on eBay. That’s where I found mine. I paid 750$ for the pump 130$ for a new def line on Amazon and 69$ for an injector on eBay.
