Early Slipknot (first 2 albums) absolutely shit on ANYTHING they’ve done since. It’s not even a debate. They still have a decent song or 2 every album but their first two albums were perfection.
1 million %
I will say We are not your kind and The End so Far were fucking excellent!
But I do agree, self titled and Iowa are staggeringly good
Yeah I was really disappointed with whatever album Corey had said would contain Iowa levels of heavy. Come the fuck on now.
@@user-er8eb9cx2d That was We Are Not Your Kind, and that was a silly thing for Corey to say, because it didn't at all. It was, in my opinion, the best album since Iowa
Amen! 🤘🔥🙌
the line "You Cant See California Without Marlon Brandos Eyes" Was a line that Corey picked up from a homeless man he met in california.
marlon brando is a famous rapist.
Like I said, Joey was the best drummer Slipknot ever had rest in peace, Joey.
Joey was one of the greatest drummers of all time, tbh. An absolute legend, gone far too soon from both Slipknot and the world. And obviously Paul as well...rest easy, #1 & #2. The maggots miss you. ❤
Top 5 Metal drummer of all time
Coming from a drummer.
Jay is WAY more technically sound and precise.
Joey was just a whirlwind of chaos who can never be replaced.
@@metler7642yeah not even close to top 5….
Maybe top 20
Joey truely pops off on Eeyore
Old School Slipknot just hits different man
Hits like a gas truck explosion.
The line "You can't see California without Marlon Brando's eyes" was something Corey heard a homeless guy said and it stuck with him.
Molly, I keep telling you Slipknot was made for you. So many bangers like this yet to come. Heretic Anthem, Blister Exists. You’re welcome.
I can't wait for him to do "No Life"
Every time I hear Heretic Anthem I smell blood lol I got thrown over a wall at a Slipknot concert and had half my face caked in dried blood when they played it, and that memory always sticks with me 💕💕
Gehenna too
Been waiting for this! Eyeless is straight 🔥🔥🔥
Best song on the album hands down.
@@handsomerobnjare there even any bad songs on the album? I dont think so. Sic is my favorite but eyeless is definitely top 3 for me if not top 2
The beginning "UK garage drums" is actually Craig Jones the Sampler. The part where the bass kicks in is where Joey also comes in. That's why you hear the layered percussion. Joey's drums come in on top of Craig's sample in the mix. It's a brilliantly designed intro.
Also, Sid Wilson is a DNB/Jungle/EDM DJ so there is a LOT of that influence on this album
@@neilpatrickhairless yeah I think Sid was the last member they recruited in 97 like right when they did their demo. Dude was playin bars and clubs, then he's in slipknot 😂.
Yes. It is a sample of "Ease Yourself" by The Collective, which is a beautiful DNB/Jungle track from the UK edm scene in the 90s (iirc). Craig Jones and Sid Wilson are often overlooked, as they're not upfront, and easily accessible to even see what they're doing. But they very much are as important to the band's sound (especially the self titled album, where it seems to be the most visible imo) and overall creativity.
@@blood9903 I agree 100%
this whole album was pure chaos.
beautiful, glorious chaos. perfection.
The Joey Cam in Disasterpiece is insain
I was at a festival in the late 90s to see Primus, System of a Down, Tree and Machine Head. These guys opened their set with this song. Their 1st album had just dropped a week or two prior and no one had ever heard of them. This song, LIVE, was my introduction to Slipknot. Still my favorite.
LOCALBUZUKA! Sept. 99. I was there to.
@@NPK476 Nice! Buckethead was there, too. He played with Primus. I didn't know who he was, so I thought he was in Slipknot because of the mask. Great day, that was!
@@Duct_Tape. Totally forgot about that! WAAF used to put on the best shows. Did you catch Slipknot at the Palladium in 03? That was crazy seeing them in a small venue.
@@NPK476 No, I missed that one. Small venues are always the best, though. Little clubs, old theatres... seeing 2 or 3 great bands for like 20 bucks in the 90s was a glorious time. And no sea of people holding up cellphones, either!
never a bad day for Slipknot!!!!!!!
Am I the only one who hears "I felt the hate rise up in meeee..." as soon as this song ends?
"Got any jungle in guy?"
Slipknot: YEEEAAAAHHHHHHH
More like this one? Check out the song before it (sic) 🤘
That’s the first song I ever heard from them. I had never heard anything like it and my face almost melted. Hooked every since
yeah boi. song one on the album bb. starts it off right
Intro into sic into eyeless should be one song. Best thing I've ever heard.
Yeah, (sic) is a must!
Joey was an absolute god on drums and there are live shows you absolutely need to see where he's got the raised drum set that light goes sideways and spins around. It's fûcking insane.
I am still crushed by his loss. He was the only member of the band I ever got to know in any way.
Slipknot mixess samples and media and then there are three drum sets technically. There's one more traditional drum set in the back and then there are two guys who beat on kegs and metal drums with black drumsticks and sometimes metal pipes on either side of the stage in front.
With the kegs and metal pipes it technically falls under the umbrella of industrial/industrial metal and that's where my heart is.
I know Sean's/Clown's drum set used to be on a scissor jack so it would occasionally raise and fall throughout the set.
First time I saw Slipknot was at a small club in Winston Salem NC. On tour for this album. Definitely one of the best and craziest shows I’ve ever seen.
Early Slipknot in a small venue is fuckin nuts. I saw them in a tiny ass hole in the wall in Illinois somewhere right before the Ozzfest appearance and they were fuckin nuts
joeys drums man
One of the best songs from their first album, which is, in my opinion, their best album by a very huge margin. So good. Every album after isn’t anywhere near as strong.
YEEEEEEEEESSS MORE SLIPKNOT WOOOOOOOO YIPPEE !!! 🎉🎉🎉
So many bangers he hasn’t heard. What about Custer or Solway Firth
@@brandonsimmons1695 i love them both :)
@@brandonsimmons1695 yessss!!
@@brandonsimmons16952 of their worst songs imo
LESS GOO their self titled album, react to sic next!! it’s also on this album
Marlon Brando had a wild, tumultuous life that saw as much bad as it did good. He saw success and pain, love, fame, and ugliness as well. The meaning behind the title is you can’t really see or know California without having experienced the range of experiences it can provide. Corey was very raw with these lyrics, in particular regarding his father and how similar they were (addiction and struggles). This song is definitely a banger.
your full of crap lol it was from a homeless person
That was the 2nd song ive heard by them back in middle school
Wait n bleed got my attention, then Eyeless got me officially Hooked.
Early Slipknot is insane !
Slipknot - Disasterpiece 🤘or "Gently" very underrated song
Eyeless. What a track. Heard it 6 months before the album dropped. One of my favourites. Drum and bass influenced.
Left behind ❤slipknot
Dude! You need to do a full listen to the self titled slipknot, every song is just as good as the last.
Same as Iowa.
That intro convinced me these guys were legit.. best album
Molly, in the early 1990's there was a new genre of music called Digital Hardcore. In the UK/Germany, the two biggest names were Atari Teenage Riot and Alec Empire. In the USA, we had The Shizit. This genre is a mixture of Garage/Drum'n'Bass/Jungle/Gabber/breakcore mixed with hardcore/punk/metal.
Some notable songs to check out:
The Shizit - Herdcore
The Shizit - Spit AK
The Shizit - Point Click Kill
This is one of those albums I've listened through too many times. As soon as the song ended I started in on 'Wait And Bleed'.
One of their best. Seeing them play this live is insane
Awesome song. The beats at the beginning remind me so much of how jungle techno started back in the 90s, and the bass guitar is phat as fook on this. Such a good mix. Corey and co went all out on this one. Cheers. 🤘🏻
Hands down my all time FAVORITE SlipKnot song!!!
Shit...I'd forgotten just how good this was. (digs out debut album CD...)
i live for the breakdown
Corey said one day he passed a homeless guy that just keep repeating that phrase about Marlon Brandos eyes and it always stuck with him.
This album got me hooked to these guys!
I remember buying this album as a 7 year old and absolutely head banging to it , luckily got to see them as a 9 year old in 2002!!
Another great video mate 👍🏻
It’s soo good, I’m so happy you did this reaction I can’t stop grinning 😂
I can't believe you react to this song because it's my favorite Slipknot song and probably my favorite song ever. The old school stuff from their first two albums by them is their best material to date. I would definitely check out The Heretic Anthem, People = Shit or Surfacing. 🤘🔥🤘
Pleeeeaaaae do SIC next!!!!
More from Slipknot? You should check out everything from "Iowa", and also "Birth of the Cruel" - "Nero Forte" - "Solway Firth" - "Custer" - "Killpop" - "Sulfur", and a bunch more!
Random fact in sneezing. If bright lights make you sneeze that's actually hereditary. It works for me, too. So whoever that works for somewhere in their lineage there's some connection somewhere. 🤘
No way. I looked directly at my ring light when I felt the sneeze coming 🤣
Great reaction as always. I'm 54, love all kinds of metal but nothing hits like this band for me. They're my musical therapy!
So need to see a Vermilion 1 & 2 reaction! ❤ so good
"The blister exists". My next slipknot recommendation
Old school slipknot was so heavy and brutal it’s insane
Excellent vid. Well done
My dog!! This is where it's at homie.
This album was the soundtrack to my teenage rage.
Still hits just as hard as day one when i was fourteen
So many bangers you need to just do a day for Slipknot where you do a song on that day every week. Slipknot Mondays etc.
Seen them early 2000 in toronto at the Acc..i left the concert with half a band shirt 2 splits in my lip cuts bruizes all over..highlight was watching the younger kids in slipknot costumes make spit puddles waiting outside in line for the show to start but when the doors didnt open on time they were so mad they started running full tilt into the 3" thick glass windows and knocking themselves out falling into there own spit puddles lol epic
This was the first Slipknot song I ever heard back in 1999/2000 when I was 13/14 years old and was the song that really got me into metal.
THAT is the Slipknot I love.
One I jus heard Whitesnake. " Still of the night" . A blast from the past, old school heavy or at least for me an my old ass
That breakdown changed my life when I was a kid haha
Fuuuuuck yeeeeesssss. My favourite song. Haven't even watched it yet, just liked and commented instantly 🤣
How does C. Taylor not lose his voice singing, screaming, shouting & yelling through those lyrics??? Crazy!
Quite easily actually seeing as it's separate structures in the throat responsible for creating this kind of distortion that are evolutionarily designed to not ruin your voice
I love your Slipknot videos 🔥🔥🔥
No shit, I was listening to this yesterday thinking...I'll bet Mollyboy would trip on this! And then today, you react to it. Crazy..
"Get this" would be another banger from old-school unhinged Slipknot
One of their most brutal songs.
Another banger!!❤
BUDGIE ....napoleon bonaparte
Longtime "Maggot" here, love when new ppl find Slipknot because a MAJORITY of the time ppl end up becoming Maggots as well!
"Maggot" - a nickname the OG band gave their fans because when they looked at the crowds of ppl they would perform for they would be jumping around on each other like maggots.
For a perfect example of this, watch "Spit It Out" by them but the live version from 2009 DOWNLOAD concert. You'll see exactly what I mean by "MAGGOTS".
I am going to Rocklahoma in September to see Slipknot! Lots of other bands there too. A three day event!! 🤘🏼🎸🤘🏼🤡👺🥁
This is my favorite Slipknot song. Thanks for the reaction!
Always hypes me up. This and Heretic Anthem are my personal favs, with Psychosocial and Duality not being far behind.
Spit It Out! Gotta be next.
This album blew me away when it came out. Saw them live that tour and to this day it’s the most intense, amazing show I’ve ever seen!
They will never, and can't ever be, that brilliant again. That album(self titled) was lightning in a bottle. IOWA, their second, is their best and heaviest album .. then they lost it. Still make good music, but their intensity was spent on their first 2 albums. I get it but its sad they couldn't keep doing it
There's just something about this song that just rips your face off like nothing else.
When you get a shiver strong enough to make you run a track back less than 5 seconds in, you don't need to convince anybody that your soul is made of
M E T A L
🤘
Possibly my favourite Slipknot song together with Disasterpiece, love the Drum n Bass esque opening on this.🤘
This was the first Slipknot song i ever heard on cassette tape in my friends wood siding station wagon high as fuck.. I'll never forget it
This was the very first Slipknot song I heard. I think it was on a Metal Hammer cover CD. Yeah. Life changing. 25 years ago now. Man I feel old.
Slipknot - Gently Live in London (Disasterpieces DVD)
Bro, Molly Bou swayed his shoulders in the into.. u know it’s 🔥
This album got me through tons of shit.... Will always be one of my favorites.
BEFORE I FORGET!!!
I’ve done it
Greatness! 💯
This is the first song i ever heard of theirs back in like 2000 and i was hooked.
My favourite slipknot song
Hell yeah my 2nd favourite slipknot song after disasterpiece
a lot of rock/metal artists used drum&bass/jungle beats back then.
a couple of my favourites songs in that style:
Clawfinger - Two steps away
Pitchshifter - Genius
Nine Inch Nails - Perfect Drug ...
Eagles - Hotel California (Live 1977)
Amazing
Always have to return to metal!
Congrats on obtaining 40K goal! I believe your subscriptions will increase as you begin to open your mind and ears to other amazing genres! To quote a Who song
"Sickness will surely take the mind
Where minds can't usually go
Come on the amazing journey
And learn all you should know"
This whole album is a masterpiece definitely gotta check out Prosthetics by Slipknot🤘🔥
This song just hits different.
Yeah eyeless is one of my favorite metal songs of all time. The drum intro and Coreys intense vocals, there is barely anything like it.
I love Slipknot, but ive never got into this song. It sounds like they made the whole thing up in one take just jamming, and somebody recorded it 😅
You need to hear this album. It’s phenomenal and probably better than anything since 🤘🏻💥🔥🙏🏻💯
Absolutely a great album!
Seeing them this early live, straight badass
I imagine this track plays on repeat in the Jokers head in the Dark Knight movie...😂😂🤘🤘
Woah that was intense. Not sure how I feel rite now. It was an experience for sure.
The 1st 2 albums are the absolute best your so gonna love these 😂😂
This hole album is insane 🤘🤘🤘
Old Slipknot 🤘🤘
