Fun fact, John Simm has said he can never watch this episode since it feels like a nightmare where everyone is himself
Oh poor thing. That's so sad and hilarious at the same time, I feel so bad for him but I can't help laughing.
I think John Malkovich said much the same thing about Being John Malkovich.
And probably also because he’s mugging so hard he’d die of embarrassment 😂
LOL!
He wanted The Doctor to notice him so badly he turned The Doctor's favourite species into himself. Goals.
If there was a hashtag for this it would #craziestthingsididtomakemycrushnoticeme
What a simp
“notice me senpi”
What do you expect from someone calls himself the Master
Ultimate notice me Senpai moment
"Now there is only...the Master Race."
inb4 he set up this whole plan just for that one pun
Inb4 shut the fuck up
It's the sort of thing both RTD and the Master would do 😛
2:43 is one of the most genius things ever, yet it goes so unnoticed. the master in the front throws his hat backwards, only for the master in the tracksuit at the back to pick it up and start dancing with it. I love it
Slippy omg that’s cutee hahahaa
2:56 just noticed the master on the top row on the right dancing
@@therottenlemon5048 Ah was just about to comment that exact same thing. That ones "Having a good time at the 18-20's club master" haha xD
I never noticed that. lol
I noticed it too. It was funny.
Best out of context Who scene ever.
Even with context.
@@EmmaSaints My thoughts exactly, it's frikin bizzare with context
To be fair, even with context, this entire episode is confusing
it’s even creepier when you see his face everywhere now 🤦🏻♀️
I’m amazed the Master got along with himself so well
Kylie Wolfe He hadn't become Missy yet. LOL
That's what struck me, how do you build a society out of the same narcissist? How do you get masters to follow instructions?
Missy is brilliant. A lot of people like her.
Porsche Foster including the master himself ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
@@jesseberg3271 they all know the plan and are just carrying it out. The ones who can't do anything are just laughing at the doctor in their own time.
You're probably right though - the instant the doctor was defeated there'd have been a massive grab for power among all the masters.
John Simm didn't get nearly enough credit for these episodes. Clearly had a blast playing all those different Masters, and I can't help but smile at this cliffhanger...even though, you know, he's kinda wiped out the entire human race XD
EDIT: Also, that Master who picks up the hat and dances at 2:43 is honestly the best.
LMAO I NEVER NOTICED THAT MASTER BEFORE
@@gdragneel653 Legendary XD
I am the Stoned Master hahahahaahahahahahahhaahahhaah (cough) hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaja (cough) hahahaahahahahahahaahah hahaha hahahahahahaha
I just saw that one which watching this video. That one is the best master.
John Simm was the best Master, imo.
I really need a behind the scenes of this.
Like he went to work that they and they told him "Today you're playing... everyone in the world!"
If you get it on DVD you can see how it was made in doctor who confidential
I can't believe John Simm literally played everyone on Earth! Phenomenal acting! Truly amazing!
“There is only the master race”
The Daleks: are we a joke to you?
Me:YES
@@cosmichobo4216 we know who you are
Given the Masters track record, probably. I mean, they've tried and failed to permanently kill him as much as anyone else. And he has tried to play them at their own manipulative game more than once.
2:44 a Master in the background is dancing, sees a thrown hat, puts it on, and continues dancing
This is why this is the funniest Doctor Who episode!
Hey that adds a whole new level of cool to the scene - the thrown hat was by one of the other Masters, so it's a dynamically well-composited scene!
So, how many outfits did John Simm wear in this finale and how long did it take him to film every different appearance he had in this episode? Also, just to be clear, The Master (whose current regeneration is that of a Caucasian male with blonde hair and blue eyes) wanted to turn everyone on Earth into versions of himself and he called them The Master Race. Alright then.
Jesse Torres it was the space of over 3 days non stop
Jesse Torres And how long did it take the editors to splice and mix it all together?
Christopher U.S. Smith a week
New TimeLord Wow!
A lot of people just wore John Simm masks.
1:52 Master in an oversized suit clapping is. it is.
THATS THE CUTEST THING EVER OMGGGGGG
I'm not the biggest fan of The End of Time but I just love the sheer ridiculousness of this cliffhanger.
It is one of my favorites for the very same reason.
Right. Great ridiculous FUN. Seems the new series forgot the meaning of fun.
@@markpoole6210 The thing is if this episode had aired more recently with Jodie instead it would have been absolutely ripped to shreds because it's so ridiculous
@@Angeldemon9 Just like how people reacted with the frog conscient universe. They seem to forget the number of times when DW was completely ridiculous
@Corczar _ Nobody said it had to do with Jodie being a woman, not here anyway. I just don't think the new series for the most part IS written badly, more that people have decided they hate the current showrunner and no matter what happens as long as he's showrunner people won't like it. There were people doing that in the Russel and Moffat era, too.
I get it, some people don't like Chibnall's Who or the direction it's been taken in. But it honestly feels like people aren't actually judging the episodes on their own merits but on who the showrunner is.
Two moments are absolutely hilarious.
1) The news broadcaster and the little picture of the laughing Master in the corner at 2:25 meaning a Master in the background news production staff off camera went to all the effort of actually posting a little picture and presenting as this as real news, all just to taunt the Doctor.
2) A Master picking up the hat and dancing at 2:49.
Picking the hat up after it was thrown by another Master - excellent compositing makes the scene all the more authentic!
I love how the Master kept waving at and applauding himself basically becoming his own hype man 😂😂
Bet John Simm had fun doing this.
Surely he didnt put on all those different clothes....
@@bssj3223 Well, there's behind the scenes footage of him sitting against green screen wearing all those different clothes. So obviously he did.
The effort that must have went into this is amazing!
Oh yeah, for sure!
To the Editors: "We want you to do this." The Editors: "You WHAT?!!"
Where did the Master come up with this, also the doctor probably had to sit through this twice while guarding the vault as Capaldi's doctor with Nardole
Wait...that means he might have battled the cyber men in 2005 and Daleks in 2008 aswell. And the Atraxi because they would've been scanning the planet for alien tech.
@@chriszone50 I think Capaldi's Doctor would be more like "Bloody Hell, it's like being in that bloody confession dial again. Missy hurry up and kill me already, watching captain sand shoes rushing about is giving me a headache."😂
@@josephkelly3044 technically the modern Earth events of Tennant's era take place a year later than they air due to the 9th Doctor getting Rose back a year late
@@Warrior_Jedi I don't think so. In the Sound of Drums the Jack brings the Doctor & Martha to 2007 does he not. So if everything happened a year later than we thought there would be several conflicting events occurring.
@@josephkelly3044 really, according to other sources the ending of Series 4 is in 2009 so I think it's the same
It's really crazy you gotta remember this effectived Everyone. Former companions, Martha Jones, Mickey Smith, future companions, a like 7 year old Amy Pond, everyone.
I knowww its crazy to think!!!
Oof
Don't forget the people in the bedroom doing... y'know what I mean-
At least Donna and Rose are safe from it
Bill and clara too, strange considering the master manipulated both of them.
Bloody hell I love John Simm as the master. His balance between humour, psychopath and tragedy is MASTSERful.
I love that he returned to play alongside Missy vs 12.
“Are you talking to me?”
“Or to me?”
“Or to me?”
“Or to us?”
Still the funniest cliffhanger ever. The group I watched this with were roaring with laughter.
I love this scene. It's just so over the top and the acting puts the cherry on top of the madness.
(I especially love how the Master is clapping to himself, just for fun.)
(Also love the misfitting outfits)
This scene is both brilliant, crazily impressive to film, hilarious and utterly pointless in the scheme of the episode.
It's not pointless. The time lords use the signal they implanted in the Masters' head, which has now been amplified six billion times to pull themselves back into existence.
@@Mrazmatmahmood I see, I don't think that was made too clear. I rewatched it not long ago and didn't get it. It was meant to be the Master's... master plan but then the time lords just kinda went "no".
@@shearnotspear yeah when I re watched it after a few years I noticed that plot point and I was like "ah, I dont remember that bit, that really should've been given more focus"
@@shearnotspear I thought it was quite clear. They made it quite obvious the Master was focusing on using his combined 7 billion minds for *something,* at least.
It's really funny if you take the time to look at every master in the end, especially the dancing ones.
John Simm Attack!
Artem OptiMaker "Attack of The Clones", Master-style. :)
John Simm is an amazing actor! He made this scene hilarious!
Ordinally I don't immediately click on these notifications, but I am literally watching the title sequence to End of Time! The exact episode I'm watching right now!
What a coincidence
The Official Fool lol
Woah that's cool
That’s some Timey Wimey stuff going on!
What episode is it?
Remember that during this Martha and Sarah also turned into the Master
i don't think they would have been considering they've been in the tardis which while in the time vortex they would have absorbed the background radiation which would've altered their DNA a tiny bit
@@mrpackwood5569 also Sarah has Mr Smith so theres that too
This is the funniest and yet scariest doctor who moment ever. On one hand the entire human race has been transformed to look like a madman
On the other hand John Simm is being, well, John Simm about it XD
Don't forget Donna about to remember everything which in turn would kill her, and her father helpless in the box listening to his little girl about to die. That scared me more than the human race becoming the Master race.
A whole bunch of blonde-haired white people called "The Master Race" - I mean, I know the Master is meant to be evil, but damn that's a dark reference
Conor Osborne yet somehow it still didn’t shove a political ideology into our face as badly as Jodie has.
For today's read-too-deeply thought..
Are you trying to saying it's racist
Ryan Simmoms it’s not Jodie’s fault, it’s the new writer.
@@zazendom977 While I'm not a big fan of Jodie's doctor, I really don't think you can blame the writing on her.
I love how much of a physcopathic dork the master is
1:50 President Master still gets more approval from his constituents than Donald Trump.
that's because they're all him..
Alfie Packwood ...does that count as nepotism?
I’d trust the Master more than him
0:11 And here we thought only 10th Doctor had vanity issues... LOL
The Master was so jealous of The Doctor loving the human race he became the human race. You can't tell me that isn't the cutest gayest thing ever.
I was thinking the same thing. The Master has always been so unbelievably needy for the Doctor's attention and if he can't be the centre of attention he was going to make the centre become him.
The return of The Timelords is arguably one of the most chilling, exciting moments in doctor who history.
I’ve currently been re-watching the series, starting from Christopher E and Rose ❤️. Christ, I’m up to the end of time and I just forgot how amazing they all were honestly! Donna, Rose and Martha, each time they left I cried. Ahhh I LOVE DW!! 🥰❤️
The ninth and tenth doctors companions were truly amazing and heartbreaking to watch leave
Walf I agree
These episodes are so underrated I don’t even know why, I think The Complete Specials are some of the best episodes
I love how in a bit more of a minute, someone made a logo out of Master's head just to be used on the TV news at 2:23.
So we all become the master... I ain't seeing a problem sounds like fun
Except for the drums you are now always hearing.
1:50 Oh god that suit is huge.
At 2:43 when he throws his hat back and another Master picks it up, that's really well done and such a brilliant little detail! I wonder how that was done?
This is still such a brilliant cliffhanger ending. You could tell John had an absolute blast doing this episode.
Easily one of my favourite scenes, shame the music never got posted
I remember watching this episode again yesterday, nice to see again lol
There is something so fun about the modern masters. Derek Jacobi closely followed by Geoffrey beavers have become my favorite masters due to Big Finish, but John Simm man. I will always have a soft spot for my first Master.
Those were the days.
his reaction to himself still makes me laugh i can't even- 😂
I'll never stop watching this.
The best Christmas special imo!
When you thought his ego wouldn't get any bigger he gose and does this
1:33 the Master on the left is significantly taller than the Master on the right.
Just the Master laughing with no background music always gets me
I feel like the entirety of every show of every season of doctor who is just one big acid trip going on in the doctor’s mind.
Love the flashbacks when Donna remembers it's amazing
I remember watching this episode of Doctor who on TV and I thought it was the best Doctor who episode
I miss this kind of Doctor's episodes. These were the master kind.
Loved these episodes
I love how they did the most unsettling transformation it could of just been like they fainted then transformed no of course not they have to get above and beyond pure genius.

Woah, that's effort. Then again, the master's laugh is good.
HAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHSHAHSHSHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHSHSHHAAHHAAH
ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha shut up
This scene had so much suspense watching it!
I love both these episodes and no one can convince me otherwise
Just realising that the John Simm Master won twice, first in Last of the time lord and then in End of time
Jango Fett: Finally, a worthy opponent.
Always gonna have a soft spot for my first Master.
I don’t know why seeing John Simm in a dress is hilarious
Lmao 2:45 always stared at that one dude picking up the hat then dancing
I love the scene in the white house with the master laughing and cheering with all the other masters, makes me crack up.
Reminds me of some sequences in the film, Jacob's Ladder.
The End of Time is my favourite NuWho story. The perfect emotion of drama, emotion, and absolute hilarity.
Does anyone happen to know what song plays at 0:13 onwards? I've been looking for it for a while now but cant seem to find it.
2:55 Top right corner *dab dab dab dab dab dab dab dab dab dab dab w h i p*
Donna is starting to remember the adventures and that stuff she had with the doctor
I didn't remembered how bizarre that was...
Thanks Doctor Who channel :)
Buzz Lightyear of Star Command Pilot: Emperor Zerg uses the Little Green Men's orb to project his thoughts and possess everyone in the galaxy. "Wherever you go, Buzz Lightyear, Wherever you go in the galaxy will be my voice, mocking you!"
I love whenever humans get transformed in Doctor Who they just shake so rapidly
I feel sorry for the actors because they’ve basically got to just stand there shaking their heads for five solid minutes so it can then be sped up in post production.
He probably got paid in the food he got to eat
Still to this day I cannot believe they went through with this idea. I mean it’s bad but it’s also so i nsane and brave that you kind of want to shake RTD’s hand at his willingness to thrust Doctor Who into next level ridiculous tosh. I remember watching this like it was yesterday gazing at the screen with a mix of confusion, embarrassment and proud admiration.
Love the dancing master at 2:43 (top)
10 years later and only now noticed 0:53 and 2:19 are the same shot
I miss this hardcore epicness
When I saw the master’s head on everyone, I started laughing. Then I started to shake my head if I would change into one of him. What a childhood that was.
Watched this episode for the first time the other day, and this scene is one of the funniest I’ve seen on all of television 😂
I remember this episode.
Congratulations
Thats good to know.
I swear you uploaded this last year
What's the piece of music called that starts at 0:15?
Crazy when you think that most of the Doctor's past and future companions would have turned into John Simm
Jeez the budget on this episode
They really went all out
1:50 Thats what i call Self Esteem lol
Financial solution?
*deLEted*
Does anyone know the soundtrack that starts playing at 22 seconds
You know, it would have been funny if the episode ended here (I don't actually remember if it did oof), and the credits credited every single character (except the Doctor, Donna and Wilf of course) as John Simm since the Master became everyone XD
It did, but I'm not sure about the credits. It would've been funny though!
Edit: I found a video of the credits, they didn't credit everyone as John Simm, probably to prevent legal troubles.
God the music in the Tennant era is still top notch.
Diabolical!! He was a hell of a Master.
Me in a house of mirrors like 1:26
Does anyone know the name of the score/music that plays from 0:13
This must’ve been so much fun to film
"You fool...I have SEVENTY ALTERNATIVE ACCOUNTS!"
Wouldn't the Master get bored talking to himself? Plus wouldn't the other versions of the Master know what he is going to say?
