I had a dream Monday night that you were building an Avro Lancaster Bomber. You were giving it the full armor weathering treatment including mud around the engines.
I came back to this series as I'm about to undertake a Russian T-34... my goodness, you're such an artist! Your use of color and contrast is a study in painting, Tintoretto would be proud. So much to look at, what a spectacular canvas. This is where model-making and artistry cross-over, I think you're a unique and major influencer in the hobby today.
You amaze me. You have such a knowledge of paint and everything that goes with it. You are a true artist. To watch you and learn from you is such an honor. You truly are the best I have ever seen. I watch a lot of videos like yours I learn from them but not like yours. Please keep them coming. Thank you for your time and knowledge. Be happy and stay safe.
I've been building for 50 years, winning trophies and contests nation-wide and yet I still manage to learn something new watching your videos. Making tarps out of Green Stuff Putty worked out fantastic for me. Love your show, thanks for all the effort you put in them.
Very nice. You are an absolute weathering artist. I found that when I started including oils in my models, it upped the realism by a considerable amount. I usually use Windsor & Newton, but; I think I am going to have to get some Abteilung. Just to see what they are like. Looking forward to the next episode.
Thank you as always for your unbridled talent and enthusiasm. Your approach to finishes (and content and context and scale, etc, etc) are modeling at its finest- you are a fine art sculptor at heart emulating a perceived historical artifact through your vision of idealistic yet realistic representation at the same time; yet with your humility and world class precision the results of your sculpture is truly a work of authentic and genuine art, with or without the historical reference.
I’ve been using oil paints to do the color modulation because I’m still brush painting everything and I used to be an oil painter. I’m glad you pointed that out as an option. It really made my KV-1 pop with color and contrast.
You are a great teacher and a modeler! This is the only channel for which I am waiting all week for the new video, and I am 100% air-modeler :D. A good atmosphere here every time, TANK YOU :D
you are the best armour modeler on this planet not just youtube i have been in the game for a long time and nothing is like your work you could do movie props man just bravo man bravo
Wow! Astounding. I have a dream where you do the same paint-job on the Tamiya 1/16th RC full-option version of this monster. That would be beyond amazing.
This build is one of my favorites you've done; subtle mods, great textures, and the weathering is killer. Always look forward to Fridays when Uncle uploads! 👍
Awesome job as always 👏 The finished and weathered tank with all the steel textures is just incredible It will surely get even more epic with the diorama!
Great work - as ever, but why don`t you use thin feather steel wire for your antennas? It is great material and doesn`t immediately bend when accidentially touched!
I have created a summary of the steps, along with paints as I identified them in your video. I substituted Vallejo 4BO as that was what was available on Amazon. 1) Prime with Mr. Finishing Surfacer 1500 Black Bottle. 2) Overcoat with Vallejo Russian Green 4BO. 3) Post Shade with Vallejo Russian Green 4BO, Tamiya Acrylic X22 GlossClear, and TAMIYA Acrylic XF4 Flat Yellow Green (70/30). 4) Highlight with same as #3 but more XF4 Flat Yellow Green(50/50). 5) Final Highlight same as #3 but add XF-21 Sky (a few drops). 6) Apply chipping medium over identification stripes area. 7) Paint recognition stripes, thin out with tap water and brush. 8) Spray Ammo Grime to outline details. Feather with tap water. 9) Seal with satin acrylinc varnish. 10) Pin wash around details with oil paints: ABTEILUNG 502 Industrial Earth and Sepia. Let oil sit for 2-3 hours on cardboard. 11) Use Streaking Rust effects to make rust chips 12) Dark Earth to make mud on lower hull 13) Use ballast glue to secure dirt/grass on lower hull 14) Highlight with Tamiya XF57 Buff features on lower hull 15) Thin AMMO Turned Earth Enamel Heavy Mud Texture and Thick Soil Enamel Heavy Mud Texture with spirit and apply to bottom of tank around tracks 16) Use oils to add details to mud 17) Repeat the lower hull weathering to upper hull.
Wow looks amazing I would like to get my own. Btw have you heard of the Caspian sea monster I think you should do that model next as it was one of the biggest things to ever fly.
Nice work man! Always a pleasure to watch. I discovered Oil and Chalk Pastels for really unique texture effects help too, even in combination with paints and cements, worth a try if you can contain the mess lol
Tbh Soviet and Russian tank as well always had more rust than other tank (even modern one) I been around T-34,IS-3 as kid and even though they were fully restored and maintain in good condition somehow rust be everywhere on them. i think the steel used have something to do with it. I really can say the model is just stunning !
Congrats. Well done for your favourite tank. Small question: where did the Soviets keep their fire extinguishers? I don’t think I’ve seen any on their armour.
as far as I can tell - they usually didn't have any Soviet soldiers and equipment were VERY expendable and so they wouldn't bother spending money on a fire extinguisher if they could just get another tank OR they were inside the tank
Hey! Just wanted to give a recommendation, just because of all the rust you use. Have you seen the dirty down rust wash? It’s a water soluble wash that looks amazing. Might be a good thing to add to your weathering arsenal.
Nice done. I must check these VMS products, it appears these are from Poland, so, it must be easier than I thought to get them. ;) All the best for You! ;)

Now I really want to see that.

Just watched a review of this flying monster. Recommend you to watch it too 👍
Honestly, a plane that crashed and slid through the mud would be right up his alley. Diorama, weathering, all of it seems very fitting.
I second this!
@@huntermcgehee1668 though he doesn’t like aircraft due to not being able to paint all in one go
The thumbnail is gold
agree
This might be my favorite tank you've made so far. I like how much you've simplified your process - it's awesome to watch you grow in talent!

“I make tanks look metal AF” should be on Night Shift merch shirts
"General Weathering" sounds like the new brand of model paints and weathering effects

I hope that you'll make a Zaku II with this weathering effects that would look so cool!
Yeah, and he should paint it in soviet 4BO just like this one with all the rust and stuff too.
Great work - as ever, but why don`t you use thin feather steel wire for your antennas? It is great material and doesn`t immediately bend when accidentially touched!
Excellent work as always. Well done.
Really beautiful

I have a JS-2 waiting for me. I’ll be happy if it turns out half as good as yours

“Fly” like the Spruce Goose
You're suggesting that the foremost armour modeller on UA-cam builds an Ekranoplan?!
You, Sir, are a heathen!
@@TheRedruffian well it had rockets, looks cool and is military model ... Why not ... 😅
very nice tank, can you do a ho 229 model? That plane is very interesting.
Have you thought about building Tamiya's 1/16 scale JS-2? Or any 1/16 scale tank?
Work of art!
I'm not in a position to support you on Patreon anymore but im always here Saturday morning after getting your notification :)
Another wonderful video Uncle! Truly amazing work

Love it. Nice work
I prefer Russian tanks modelled with their turrets blown off, but apart from that, this may be my favorite model of yours. Looks amazing!
I think you should put the IS-2 in a diorama similar to the T29, beside a destroyed building, like it’s in Berlin
Amazing Work and i am curious on how and what airbrush you use.
JS-2? Just Superb - twice! 😀
Awesome as always
Yes
Excellent

Way to go Unc Dude cheers! TFS, GB :)
Wondering what grade of graphite stick works the best?
If tanks would be this beautiful in real life, no one would go to war, because no one would want to ruin the finish.
Nice done. I must check these VMS products, it appears these are from Poland, so, it must be easier than I thought to get them. ;) All the best for You! ;)
Excellent video ! Did you mix the AK mud paste with plaster ? Or used it directly out of jar?
The thumbnail is great! Dont talk to my son LOOOOOOL
