After showing you the new to me NBS GMC Sierra Stepside and talking about all the fixes it needed. It was time to do some of them. The Dash is cracked, The radio bezel is cracked and the radio was missing. I was tired of looking at an empty hole. In this video I show you how to install a radio in a nbs silverado or sierra. This radio install is for 2003 to 2006 and 2007 Classic gmc sierra and chevy silverado. The upside to these years are that they had a factory double din radio. It is so much better than the 99-02 models that came with a din and a half radio. I have used this Pioneer Double din in several trucks and cars and for a budget radio it is hard to beat. I did some normal OCD cleaning as I was installing the radio. The other upside is this has steering wheel radio controls. I wanted to keep or retain the swc so I used a Pac harness. The pac harness allows you to keep the factory steering wheel radio controls. While I was doing that, I also installed a new USB for charging phones or Apple carplay and android auto. The one I used fits great in the CLA spot. To finish it all out I had a new dash bezel and a short antenna. If you are looking for a new radio or the parts needed to install a radio or stereo in a NBS silverado or Sierra this is a must watch how to. I love the new screen and all the features it has over the stock radio.Hit the Comments and let me know what you think.......

Would love to see a video comparing the pros and cons or at least the differences of 99-02 vs 03-06 trucks one day!!
I can do that
@@TWAMotorsports I love a I can do attitude.
Be a cool video!
I will definitely be doing it.
Got to say, I love your videos. Super informative. And great narration. I'm doing a 2003 Silverado now. And you hit on almost everything I want to do. And thanks for listing the items you are installing. Also super helpful. Keep it up buddy!
Thank you
Nice job man, love how clean those radios look.
Thank you. Me too
Looks like your back in your element A lowered truck, I like it better than the last one. Looking forward to seeing you give it the Travis touch! Thanks
Thank you. Yeah I have a problem when I see them for sale. Lol
I find a double din radio in 2000-2007 model trucks just adds a great look to the dash!! Great video as usual. ✌🏻
Thank you. I agree. Looks way better
That’s a really nice single cab
Thank you
The RCAs are if you want to use the pre-outs on the new head unit with the factory amp (If equipped)
👍
Looking good 👍
Thank you
Nice video Travis.. pioneer radio fit's nice... nice job with the wiring.. nice n neat....👍
Thank you Keith. Getting better
@@TWAMotorsports have a great weekend...
Thank you. You too
Good Job my friend 🎉
Thank you
Great info
Thank you
You can put a 2014/18 jump seat top in it and install the usb inside or use the one already in it. Plus the 3 cup holders are really nice.
May look into that
So you can attach just the actual console portion from a 2014-18 to the pre existing seat? Like you don’t have to buy/ find the whole jump seat?
I believe so
Hey Travis, I think you could have plugged the RCA's into the radio like an amp. They should work like that.
Are you kidding me. Lol
Now I need to figure out how to add steering wheel controls to my LT lol
They are nice to have
I could only get one side of my controls to work. Used a different thing then the pack. Tryed for like 2hrs. Gave up. Can control the volume though. So works for me. My radio is not technically supported by the interface. Atoto s8.
Yeah pac has always worked great for me. At least you have volume though
Got dam that ocd hitting hard😅😂
Its bad
Where did you get your dash kit at? All the ones I keep getting are leaving gaps, and will not snap in all the way.
Link in video description
Travis. Do you have a video on putting a temp rear view mirror in a NBS that wasn't originally equipped with one?
I did it in my green truck not long ago
@@TWAMotorsports ok, I'll look for it. Thx
It's nice now im going to try to install a radio head unit for my boss's Chevy Avalanche.
Good luck on yours
Would it be a lot work if you repair the dash? It will be nice. Your videos are awesome 👏
Going to replace. Almost impossible to repair at this point
Hey man do you happen to have a rpo code from your truck for the steering wheel controls I want to add that feature to my z71 steering controls
Not sure what that code is. Not sure its a stand alone code
Hey I’ve got the pac 3. Do you know if they sell just the steering wheel control connector? That’s all I need
Aswc1 should work
Where would you buy new door actuators from mine are acting up too the light will not come on from time to time
Gm, Amazon or Rockauto
Would it be different if the truck had oem bose package?? With a amp ect
May require a different harness
I’ve been trying to change my radio on my 03 silverado and i went to turn the key for the new radio to turn on and it didn’t why does that happen my truck does have onstar and steering wheel controls with the bose system do i need to just buy a interface module ?
You need a quality harness. That will fix your issue
Hey, man! I got a 05 gmc sierra and I got a pioneer double din and plugged everything in but there’s an extra cord but it’s not on my double din
No idea
Does the truck have the bose system trying to find one for mine?
No it isn't bose
Hey Travis question I got a 2002 Silverado 1500 I’m thinking on putting a double din in.. been doing my research on UA-cam and it’s a little confusing to me hope you can help me out.. seen videos of people getting bracket from 2003 and up.. and I also seen videos I think with people not needing bracket so I’m super confused thanks
I think the kit from metra is the easiest and best option
@@TWAMotorsports thank you for the quick responds.. so I need that bracket from metra and a dash correct? Or just the bracket sorry for all the questions… thanks again!
You need the cluster surround and it comes with everything I believe
i do still buy and use cd's here and there bc the sound quality is better in the car especially vs bluetooth, imho.
I agree. They are better. Bluetooth has came a long way though
I have a 2007 GMC classic with steering wheel controls and Bose. Did this with the same radio the other night but it doesn’t turn on unless I match the red and yellow together but then it doesn’t turn off. Different harness I don’t have one with a dial any ideas ? Gotta be something simple I matched all colors together and ran all the grounds into 1
So you didn't buy the same harness as me. That's why you have tge issue
I’m having the same problem any solution yet ?
@@mrkrabsthegoat8088 Best Buy ended up having one in stock And it worked perfect
It requires the harness I used in the video
What steering wheel are you using with buttons on it also what stereo kit is that man ?
Stock steering wheel. All parts are in video description
What year is this truck? Im wondering if i can upgrade a 2001 chevy silverado steering wheel to a 03-07 steering wheel with controls would you have any insight about that?
No you can't easily
you can with ease. you get your steering wheel control programing unit and you program it to the unit your retaining. if they both have the features. they will work
Which wires did you tap into with the aux Jack wires? Do the colors match up? Thanks
Been a while and pretty sure I showed that in the video
@@TWAMotorsports I tried to scroll through and figure it out, there’s no exact shot of the connections. Thanks though! I’ll figure it out hopefully
It's been so long I can't remember and I sold it so can't go check
Where did you get the middle center kobe
Facebook marketplace
Do you have the link to the face plate if you I appreciate it!
Do*
Its listed in video description
Nice truck
What size is the tires and rims??
22. All parts listed in video description
Could you install a backup camera with that?
Yes
So were the swc factory in this exact truck?
Yes
What pac unit is best for factory amp/sub, Steering wheel controls???
Depends on vehicle. Pac has a search on their website
@@TWAMotorsports Ive got a 03 tahoe z71, factory amp, bose, steering controls. I figured the one you showed here would work but wanted to make sure.
It should work unless you want to keep onstar
@@TWAMotorsports perfect
What head unit, doesn't link to same unit?
This is a bt160
I just did this and my service air bag light came on. Any suggestions?
Wow. Lose ground somewhere would be my guess
I have a 2006 chevy Silverado and instaled a new radio with abcd interface and its making a static nose when i press volume up any help
Generally a ground issue
@@TWAMotorsports I change the ground to the truck chassis and still doing the same thing
Back of passenger side head ground
Would this work on a 99-02?
No
I have the same radio in my old Jeep
Good for.the money in my opinion
Which radio harness please
Listed in video description
Would you consider selling your white Obs Chevy let me know if you ever do 👍🏼
Sure. Bring me 15k and its yours
I bought one of the DMH series Pioneers for my 2010, basically exactly like this.... Unfortunately it's been sent back to Pioneer twice for "repairs", and still is a P.OS.. this kills me. I've used Pioneers for years now issue, but these DMH radios are hot garbage. They won't buy it back, only attempt a "repair", which involves them factory resetting the unit which might work well for a week or two. The unit freezes constantly, randomly increases or decreased volume, turns off audio to random speakers, etc...
I sure hope others have had better luck, I am absolutely pissed with Pioneer over their handling of my issues.
I haven't had that issue thankfully
No need for any bypass or any hardware at all for a pioneer in motion video there is a built in bypass to the actual head unit.
They old school methods of grounding doesn't work anymore
@@TWAMotorsports the grounding method never worked and that’s not what I was talking about there is a secret menu to enable video in motion!!
Oh. I gotcha
@@ssmith2980 did you use the method holding at the locationsoexactly for set time and it worked? With that method done I will wire the ground to franc or do I still need to run it to parking brake?,
@@dabloesco yes I used this method no need to hook the wire up at all when using that method, I don’t have it connected at all.
Algorithm.
👍👍
I was hoping that was the green truck! I wanted to see how you put the column in with steering wheel controls. I know you can put a 2006 Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade/Denali complete cloumn in, but I dont think you can use the steering wheel controls in an older 99 to 02. Guess I will have to go with the wireless type of control, only thing is they look like an ugly afterthought on the wheel.
Sorry no. I am not planning on that swap.
99-02 caddy's came with steering wheel controls. You can make them work..
So did these in denalis
@@leviwoodring6101 Thanks.
@@TWAMotorsports Thank you.
You're gonna miss the volume knob...
I do like volume knobs.
