I got RP5-GM31 from Crutchfield and they also sold me a USB cable that plugs into the factory harness to the back of my new radio and it works with Android Auto!
Man! Thank you so much for making this video! I’ve spent two days trying to figure out what I did wrong. I hooked everything up but my sound was super low. That’s when I watched your video and saw that there was a plug in for amplified and non amplified on the p5 adapter thanks to you pointing it out in the video. I took it apart and checked, I had it plug into the amplified instead of the non amplified ( my truck doesn’t have a built in amp). Once I switched it my sound was back to normal! Thanks again!
Thank you for making this video. This is the only one I've seen that references the rearview camera in the mirror. Excellent explanation of how everything wires up.

Thanks for the info! I saw this video the other day, but watched so many that day. When my radio and kit (I went with the iDataLink Maestro RR) came in, I didnt have the connector for the video feed at the radio plugs as mine, like yours is in the rear view mirror. So I spent 2 hours today trying to find this video again to find the location and colors for the video feed connector. Anyways, that info helped out tremendously, and the video works flawlessly on both my in-dash and my mirror!
A little later but uhhh do I have to install this chime box, it’s very digital sounding. (Mine idk about yours) sounds like shit. I prefer the stock sounding chime. No dropping or anything. It was installed and I noticed the different sound right as I turned out of the installers place.
I had the same issue with my radio shutting off when receiving a call. It was also super loud when it was ringing. Disconnecting the Bluetooth on my phone fixed the issue.
My inter face on one of the spots to plug in has a sticker over it that says set radio select switch before connecting vehicle harness what dose that mean

There is a harness that can be purchased that plugs in next to the parking brake that enable the backup camera to work on both the mirror and the deck at the same time.
@@CHI-TOWN_FELON_ I haven't done enough research on it to know exactly where to get it. Or any specific brands that sell it. I came across a threat one day reading about it. I just know the price was around $50. I lost interest after that.
Went to replace my radio and the guy before me repinned the entire harness from the truck. So far it's been a nightmare but I've got my basic wire. My issue now has been what does the signal wire from the truck go to, or if anyone can find the pin diagram for a 2012 GMC Sierra SLE with Bose and OnStar. I removed onstars chip due to OnStar being dropped this year back in June. Will be posting a video soon of the aftermath lol
So I just did this in my truck and everything works good other than the hands free calling. It's like the Mic isn't picking anything up I don't know if it worked beforehand because I never tried it. Would I need to put the Mic from the pioneer radio in?
Austin Black you don't plug the steering wheel controls into anything. The interface links the controls to the stereo remotely. You just have to set what each button does.
Did you have to jump wires (yellow and black I think) it was on the second set of instructions and the page was in color. I believe it says “important for double din installation” I was wandering about that because my harness looks different from the color instruction sheet
@Limited Automotive Is there no way at all to retain the factory Bluetooth mic? I hate the fact that I'll have the aftermarket mic pinned or clipped somewhere when one exists neatly above the door. I have a 13 Sierra so everything should be identical to the 11 Silverado in the video.
Douglas Stewart I only had the basic model to install. But I'd like to think that if installing one that was onstar compatible, you just might be able to. I'm not 100% on that though.
I cant say for the traverse it may be different. But Every model I have seen on both aftermarket stereos and aftermarket cameras are purple with white stripe. Is the SWC input the same thing as a W/R input? I purchased a PAC RP5-GM11 to use with a Pioneer AVH-1330NEX, and the head unit does not have a jack that says SWC. - Thank you!
No my subwoofers, the SWC (steering wheel control.) The new Pioneer has a W/R port (wired remote.) I assume that would be the same thing so I could control the new stereo from my steering wheel.
Ah! That makes sense. Yes, the Pioneer stereo has rica jacks labeled SWR and SWL. The W/R port is a 3.5 jack. Thank you for your help! The stereo should be arriving next week. Can't wait to get started!
i installed the same rp5 gm 31 kit with jcv double din everything works fine but the left side front and rear speakers has no sound the right side works fine. i double checked the speaker wiring for the left side and they are weird correctly. anyone knows what can cause this issue?
Why does Chevy and GMC need that adapter? My gf has a 2012 Sierra and i have a 02 Tahoe. My hahoe has the factory sub and amp so i knew the tahoe needed the adapter cause of the amp but the Sierra she has is nothing special i figured it would be just another stereo install.

I'm sorry I hope you understand the question maybe I wasnt clear enough. If I don't tie into the lines on the driver side, will I still see the backup camera on the mirror? I don't really care to have it in the radio so if I can just not do that and still have it work, I will.
How did you get mute/play button to work.
If you're referring to the one on the steering wheel, they have to be programmed.
Is regular rca or is a amplifier RCA?
Standard rcs cables will work as long as the stereo has the connections on the back.
great video man. you answered quite a few of my questions!
Best video I have seen by far.
Thank you
You definitely helped me out. Thanks man
Did you have to do any sodering
I normally use butt splice connections. But you can solder as well if you prefer.
Hey Justin i have a 2013 chevy silverado and i just bought the gm-31. only problem im facing right now is that the radio i have doesnt have a place on the back for the SWC or the blue and yellow remote wire. Is it possible that the jack would work in one of the Aux-RIN or LIN.
Ok thanks alot justin I will give that a try.
Chris check with PAC audio they will hook you up. They have wiring diagrams for every vehicle they support and every radio they support.
Thanks for the video. Amazing work. Question, did you plug the reverse input signal wire to the harness as well? Purple/white? Thank you.
I don't believe I did
were do you purchase wire to wire in back up Camara
excellent video, it will be very helpful.
I have a question, will the backup sensors work with this module?
What kind of connectors did you use with the RCA plugs for splicing your rear camera to your after market stereo?
I used the T-tap wire connectors. You can find them at any auto parts store.
Thank You
Hey Thank you info
But do you have problem with accy. Position I had mine installed by bestbuy they said that function is obsolete now because of the gm31 harness
I didn't have the option for it
If only someone made a video explaining how to install a GM door chime module into 1991 GM pick up, I prefer how the warning chime sounds on these later model trucks . Tired of the annoying ass one my truck came with . Anyone have an idea ?
Is the RP5-GM31 will work with my 2014 Silverado?
This one was purchased in 2016, so I believe it's set up to work with that year model as well. I would double check just to make sure.
did you connect the mute wire to the brown loop on the interface?
That's my question now!! I cant find a clear answer on how to handle the loop brown wire for the onstar. I certainly dont have a yellow/black wire on my pioneer wires
The harness part from the pac module that’s taped up with the relay bypass cannyou do another video on how that connected this video is exactly what I’ve been looking for
Been thinking about updating the video in the future
How long does the rca cable have to be?
Does this interface work with factory xm or do you need the tuner box?
If the stereo you're using is compatible with the XM, then I imagine it would work. It even retains the onstar feature.
Are you using the Pac Cam-gm51
No, name is in the description.
Where did you get those connectors? I've been everywhere looking
Water getting into the doors
Why does Chevy and GMC need that adapter? My gf has a 2012 Sierra and i have a 02 Tahoe. My hahoe has the factory sub and amp so i knew the tahoe needed the adapter cause of the amp but the Sierra she has is nothing special i figured it would be just another stereo install.
Who makes the best interface ?
If there's a better one or three than this one, I haven't heard of it.
What if i need the steering wheel control im missing that part
What do you mean missing?
Did you have to purchase a module for the XM radio ? Fella at Best Buy was trying to sell me this module along with the RP5-GM31 kit. My double din is XM ready and my old stereo has XM
David Stiff mine wasn't xm ready so I didn't have to get anything else.
If your new radio is XM ready, that means it will work with the extra XM tuner, the radio does not have an XM tuner built in
How do you move the number on the side?
On the side of what?
Thanks for the video man help me figure my problem out.
Angel Torres no problem. Glad it helped you out.
No problem. I'm glad it helped.
Were yo harness for the aftermarket radio
Plugged into the radio
How do you change the xm satellite channels?
depending on which radio you have it may not come with xm
Dude I have so much problems trying to program it with my original steering wheel controls
Are you pushing the controls in order that the instructions show?
@@ramzsgarage316 yes I’m having so many problems with it since I can’t program it
Fuckin bad ass man!!!! Worked for my duramax too cheers
Thank you , Great Help!
No problem
