have an 05 tahoe, and after inquiring about a system overhall running me $300+ for radio install alone, I'm glad i found your videos and now have the knowledge to install myself and save me a little bit of money now. These videos were absolutely fantastic, best tutorials i've ever seen on here.
You broke things down very clearly, Thanks much Tahoe Steve. I was wondering IF I needed another wiring harness/interface because I bought another aftermarket head unit/radio. I learned, I dont, because the harness and interface is dedicated to the car's year, make, and model, not the radio/head unit.
You basically told me everything I needed to know! These wires were bugging me the F*** out 😂 thank God I found your video THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
Great video! My last stereo came with a plug and play harness. Gonna try this on my 05 tahoe with the bose and Sirius and on star this weekend. Wish me luck!
This is part is no longer available, do you have a recommendation for a substitute ? Axxess AXGM-04 AXGM-04 Data Interface for Select GM 2000 Through 2013 Vehicles
I installed a single din stereo in my 04 tahoe with the steering wheel controls, crutchfield had all the wiring and adapters to retain steering wheel controls and it was fairly simple. Seemed a little intimidating at first but after I got started connecting wires it wasn't bad at all
Thank you so much for this video. Unfortunately the "Axxess AXGM-04 AXGM-04 Data Interface for Select GM 2000 Through 2013 Vehicles" isn't available anymore , any suggestion on what else could I get for this setup? Thank you.
Think I’m going to T my ground into the chassis. I know the harness has one but I don’t think it would hurt to do this.I think both the unit ground and steering wheel module could both benefit from being grounded to chassis right?
I have a 03 Tahoe that did have bose at one time plus steering wheel controls. The last install with pioneer with amp blew. Only half the channels work now. My daughter drives it most of the time. There's a short and they never did steering wheel controls. I got the scosche gm2000 kit now I'm need a pro😳
What about if I’m adding the steering wheel with controls in a one that doesn’t came with it? With aftermarket stereo already and not using factory wiring? Will be the same parts?
The headunit goes out to the existing factory amplifier. There are generally some important things to keep in mind though like having the volume set to roughly 3/4 of max on the old headunit so the amplifier isn't set too low or high etc. Recommend watching a video specific to bose systems.
Hi, I have an 03 tahoe. I'm installing a touch screen in. I can get the radio to power up and work but it's loud even on low volume, and getting feedback noise through the speakers. All stock with bose and steering wheel controls
Hi Mr. Tahoe Steve,If you run a 9 wire to an amp, should I connect all 3 of the blue/white remote wires together -from the aftermarket radio harness to the Axxess harness to the 9 wire going to the amp? Thanks
We have the same vehicle same setup, you didn’t say anything about the Orange wire, just the Orange and white. It looks like you have it taped off. Instructions said to hook to illumination, but also said to do the same with Orange White, so, I just attached the Orange and White from the Factory Harness Side. And taped off the Orange wire, let me know if I’m supposed to connect the Orange to Orange White connection.
Did that work bro? I watched video 10 times but I also have 4 orange wires coming from every end.....I feel dumb but I have no idea wich orange goes to wich and wich ones are taped off only 1 of the 4 have a white stripe coming off the car side...help
I have a pac module. Installed it works fine for a little bit then it always blows the inline 2amp fuse. Never fails any ideas on why it would short out ? Any advice helps
i have the steering wheel interface, and in mine it has extra green and green/ black stripe wires.. along with extra purple and purple/ black wires.. Do I put the two purple negatives and positives with the one purple etc?
I did everything that you suggested however my radio has a very loud whine now. Do you know how to fix it because it is so horrible I can't even listen to music?
I have the same question. I have factory bose amp. So do I use the speaker out or the line out on the radio. My thinking says I should use the line out since it's connected to a external amplifier. Anybody have any thoughts on this delimma.
Question, I have a 2011 chevy malibu and I used the gm Lan Axxess wiring harness and I have the swc module and it doesn't work with my atoto sa102 head unit or the unit I had before. That said I found a video saying you don't need it if the radio supports it, but the issue is I don't know what wire to even attempt to attach the loose swc wire from the head unit to the car's wires. In the video I found for a Ford it was a light blue and the red accessory wire from the car to the swc wire from the head unit. Would you happen to know which wire(s) is used for swc in the 2011 chevy malibu or gm vehicles of the time? Thanks.
I did everything you did except the SWC and my speakers only work when the vehicle is running and I guess my amp isn’t turning in because my speakers cutout when turning the radio to a higher volume
Hi man, thank you alot i was really confused honestly and didnt know where to start from, till i found you vid, but i still afraid to do one step, i have same kit i installed all on my trailblazer 2009 LR, except the SWC, i dont know how to do the cutting and stuff if you kindly can help me?
I have GM schematics but only up to 2004. On a 2003 Tahoe, the amp is turned on with a signal from class 2 serial data. It is the .ORG wire from the radio into the network connecting many items to this serial data line. When the radio is turned on, a wake up signal and VIN number is shared on the single wire. This includes the amp under the center console at the back. The amp turns on and the radio drops it speaker output to pre-amp low lever. If you can find a schematic online with everything the same, check power to the amp at the fuse block first. The radio get louder the faster your drive because it get a vehicle speed signal from the same wire. There is a diagnostic flow chart for amp not turning on, but if it has power, check the serial data line which can be any color. Under the dash (Or somewhere like that) they use a “Splice Pack” which has 10 wires or so, but the flat side has a metal one piece connector. When removed, a digital multi meter to ground and touching an active class2 wire will read 4.5 volts on the DC voltage setting. Class2 is quickly moving from 0 volts to 7 volts DC. The mete cannot read real time, but will show an average. So average is 1/2 of signal voltage. Ground to radio turned on, is 4.5 Vdc. If nothing, it has to be checked. The amp is hard to get to and produces no serial data until turned on via serial data. Only the right color wire from amp to the splice pack can be checked using resistance or ohms. It should read 1-2 ohms to splice pack when disconnected. This is why they use a scan-tool from the factory, a TECH2. In body, entertainment or radio / amp, special functions, here you can push a soft button to change volume or other functions. Take a clear close-up digital photo of the RPO code sticker in the glove box. These numbers and letters tell what the vehicle was built with. Go into a dealer and strike up a conversation with a tech. Offer him/her $10 for a 6 pack, but they will use their computer year, make, model then print the wires for radio & amp. It’s simple! Steve I dont know if you're still replying on this but maybe some one else might. My 05 Yukon has rear DVD on ceiling, I plan to follow your total install for you daughters Caddy. Did this work with DVD if she has one? Thanks great videos
I have a 03 avalanche with steering wheel controls and Bose. Do you think this would work for me? I’m not sure if the 7 inch screen is to big or if it will fit.
Hey man I've wired a decent amount of IoT type things. Ethernet runs and such. Understand the concept. I wasn't able to get the interface I needed for the Pioneer 160bt from Walmart. They have the GM2000SW instead of the GM3000SW that was needed. On the interface box it said Pontiac something through 2012. Figured I would take the chance bc I'm dumb lol seems it will work though. Can you tell me what's going to be the issue I come across before I get to it or what is the difference between the interfaces please? Best wiring video I've seen. Been on here for hours man. I have a 2009 Pontiac G6 btw sorry. Thanks man! Great video.
extremely helpful video. ONE THING do you have a video showing me how you solder everything. ALSO do i have to solder? what if i dont have a soldering gun? Thanks friend definitely subscribed
I do not because i am not that great at soldering. No, you don't have to, but it is peace of mind not having everything crimped when you shove it all back in the dashboard.
Because the mint green parking brake wire wasn’t used, you won’t be able to adjust the picture settings in the Pioneer. (Brightness, contrast, hue, etc.) Does anyone have a video on wiring that one?
Steve you did excellent job explaining and showing the process. I know you said you do not have a backup camera, why not get one since you have a port for it. Do you have a DVD player and how does it connect?
I've made cables like these before and have to use a magnifying glass takes several hours for me to do. Looking at tv I was thinking how easy this would be if I could see like this.
Will this work on a 2004 Silverado. Mine has a steering controls and I bought the kit and I guess it just does the warnings and chimes but not the steering controls. The back of my stereo does have the female 3.5 connector
What if I’m working with an ‘02 Cadillac Escalade and want the steering wheel controls and the Bose speakers to work? I’m not coming up with anything that will work and I really want to swap in a Bluetooth headunit.
Hey Steve! I have a green and grey wire left after connecting all the speaker wires, that says steering wheel control... where should I connect them too?

It's comments like yours that keep me motivated to keep making videos. Thanks so much!
After looking for some info on that kit i bought i couldn't find it. Your video of this install explains a lot. Thanks.
You broke things down very clearly, Thanks much Tahoe Steve.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
By the way it worked just like you explained and I was working on a 04 hummer h2
Great video! My last stereo came with a plug and play harness. Gonna try this on my 05 tahoe with the bose and Sirius and on star this weekend. Wish me luck!
Did you try it out ?

thanks for watching. definitely not as hard as it seems when you pull everything out of the box
Thank you Steve, some how my radio is staying on I'm my truck so I'ma have to find out why an this was a tremendous help.Thank You
I Cant find the wire you ordered that you didn't need for the radios that don't have a 3.5 mm jack
You can get buy on amazon
I feel like I'm watching a card trick.....
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂That was funny.. lol
Any videos on bypassing the bose amplifier completly and putting in a 4 channel amp in its place. Thats where I'm at..
Thank you so much for this video. Unfortunately the "Axxess AXGM-04 AXGM-04 Data Interface for Select GM 2000 Through 2013 Vehicles" isn't available anymore , any suggestion on what else could I get for this setup? Thank you.

How did you get your Bluetooth to work without connecting parking wire? Did you grounded?
How does the bass sound coming from the new unit? Did you have to bypass the existing amp or does this harness take care of that?
The headunit goes out to the existing factory amplifier. There are generally some important things to keep in mind though like having the volume set to roughly 3/4 of max on the old headunit so the amplifier isn't set too low or high etc. Recommend watching a video specific to bose systems.
What wires did you use if you where using a backup camera
i am doing the same but also using backup camera do you have another video or know how to explain how to do it?
Your video help me a lot! Thank youuuu
I'm so glad!
Lol😂 thanks for the knowledge and humor. It was all perfect.
Hi, I have an 03 tahoe. I'm installing a touch screen in. I can get the radio to power up and work but it's loud even on low volume, and getting feedback noise through the speakers. All stock with bose and steering wheel controls
Absolutely awesome video help me and my son on his 2003 Tahoe!!!!!!!! Thank you 🙏

Hi Mr. Tahoe Steve,If you run a 9 wire to an amp, should I connect all 3 of the blue/white remote wires together -from the aftermarket radio harness to the Axxess harness to the 9 wire going to the amp? Thanks
Where does the Jack plug into the back of the radio?

Thanks so much I been so intimidated by this . Your video great 👍
It want work if u use just a harness ubwamt have any sound because of the Bose factory amp
There is a video showing to bypass Factory amp and it explains that it does work when you bypass the amp.
i have the steering wheel interface, and in mine it has extra green and green/ black stripe wires.. along with extra purple and purple/ black wires.. Do I put the two purple negatives and positives with the one purple etc?
I did everything that you suggested however my radio has a very loud whine now. Do you know how to fix it because it is so horrible I can't even listen to music?
Now what ify 05 escalade has navigation, is it the same
2004 chevy tahoe no audio with walmart interface and bose system. Video? Advice sir?
Did you figure it out?
Does this use the factory amp?
I have the same question.
I have factory bose amp. So do I use the speaker out or the line out on the radio. My thinking says I should use the line out since it's connected to a external amplifier. Anybody have any thoughts on this delimma.

I'm color blind and do installs. Thank god I haven't had a issue but I do have to ask my wife every now and then if I'm matching them correct
Did everything and my steering wheel buttons don’t work on my 2006 Tahoe do you have any suggestions?
Nice work, we will be at SEMA Thank you for the content
Have fun!
Thanks for the info. Did it today!
I did everything you did except the SWC and my speakers only work when the vehicle is running and I guess my amp isn’t turning in because my speakers cutout when turning the radio to a higher volume
😂 that’s true if your not color blind it speaks for itself 😂
Do the parts have names ? Or they r just called this guy right or this part or this guy's right here ?
I can't get my aftermarket amp and sub to work with factory amp bose in 2005 tahoe
See I did all that and mu radio stays on I have to turn the power off in my 05 chevy silverado 1500

My JVC does not have the 3.5m jack for the steering wheel control. Can you please provide the link to where I can buy the jack? Thanks
you mean the head unit itself has no place for a 3.5?
What about if someone cut the factory plug from the factory stereo wires 😩
Hela appreciate it bro. 🤙
Glad to help!
Steve I dont know if you're still replying on this but maybe some one else might. My 05 Yukon has rear DVD on ceiling, I plan to follow your total install for you daughters Caddy. Did this work with DVD if she has one? Thanks great videos
Our car did not have one, hopefully someone will chime in.
Did you use the factory bose amp.
If so do you used speaker out to radio or line level output?
I have a 03 avalanche with steering wheel controls and Bose. Do you think this would work for me? I’m not sure if the 7 inch screen is to big or if it will fit.
03 starts a new gen so I'm not 100% sure. Perhaps someone else will chime in.

My 2005 tahoe has the steering wheel controls. Do you think all this would go with that too?
it should but i am guessing. check with crutchfield or the like for a more definitive answer
Will this work for 2005 Chevy Tahoe
Im replacing the Original Touch Screen
Do you have to have the steering wheel control cuz I don’t want to use them so can I just not buy that part
I'm not 100% sure, but I don't see why not.
That was funny when you act like the video was over LOL good job though keep up the good work
thanks!?

I just ordered everything. Almost $500 I hope it fits 😬🙏🏻
best of luck!
Good video!!!
Thanks!
do u have to Sauter or can u use wiring harness connectors?
You can use wire harness connectors, I just prefer to solder so that I never have to worry about shorts
Because the mint green parking brake wire wasn’t used, you won’t be able to adjust the picture settings in the Pioneer. (Brightness, contrast, hue, etc.) Does anyone have a video on wiring that one?
you can wire it to ground, or buy this thing called a ground loop
Great! Thanks.
glad to help
Hi i have a question
Steve you did excellent job explaining and showing the process. I know you said you do not have a backup camera, why not get one since you have a port for it. Do you have a DVD player and how does it connect?
Key 1 grey and key 2 brown where do they go?
I have the same question, did you get it resolved?
The axgm-04 is unavailable
Did something wrong :( only back 2 speakers work very quietly.
It's never as easy as it seems.. I'm about to pull my hair out next week attempting this
So all the money in car audio in accessories.?! Not installation or price of stereo
Prices for all items in description. You will pay more for installation
Thank you 🙏🏻
You’re welcome 😊
So I'm standing about 2ft from a 55' tv watching this....
Ok. Ill bite..... and?
I've made cables like these before and have to use a magnifying glass takes several hours for me to do. Looking at tv I was thinking how easy this would be if I could see like this.

Will this work for a 2011 GMC Acadia slt with 10 speakers?
I have a 2008 Cadillac DTS I'll hook up all the wire to my CD player put my CD player is on but my amp is not coming on what do I need to do
