Just wanted to say thank you for this video. I've never commented on a video, but this is probably the most helpful video I've run across on UA-cam. I have a 2006 Silverado 1500 paired with a Kenwood double din radio and backup cam. The instructions that came with the kenwood were not very helpful. I watched this video 5+ times to figure out what I needed to do and saved money from having professional install. Everything has been installed for 3 months and no issues. Thanks again for all your help! I know this video has not only helped me, but tons of others as well. Thanks again!
I have a bit of a problem I am working on installing a pioneer mhv s215bt into a 2004 silverado and i cant figure out which wires from the Chevy to connect to the pioneer do you have any knowledge about this?
I do agree I have been doing the same since I was 14 for family and friends (installing) audio stuff but I have been through a lot of medical (cancer & 2 motorcycle accidents) issues and my brain is deteriorating I’m installing a Pioneer AVH-W4500NEX my daughter has one I feeling in love with it and installing front and rear cameras and I’m going to install an Audio Control AudioControl LC-5.1300 with my Audio Control AudioControl DQDX Black 6 Channel Digital Signal Processor I am waiting on my door speakers to show up all of this is stressing me out and I have had to what happened several of your videos to reassure myself! Thank you guys y’all are awesome
04:16 - The installation that he shows here is not RP5-GM11 I REPEAT IT NOT THE RP5-GM11 - LOOK AT MANUAL AT 04:16 ---- THE INSTALLATION HE DOING IS A RP4-GM11 ....
learned something new, didnt know you can reassign the buttons on the steering wheel to answer/end call. have the same setup so gonna get into this today. great video as always
Awesome video...No bull crap Bla bla bla...straight to the point and yet detailed at the same time! Thanks, Helped me figure it out. I wish everyone made videos like this.
Great video! Thinking about doing this in my 04 z71, this could come in handy. Just not sure about what way to go with stereo on a truck thats not my daily driver anymore. Like you might guess the factory speakers have seen better days.
Ha! This is the video I've been waiting to see. I have a 2005 Chevy Suburban. Now I can comfortably make sense of what harnesses I need. The PAC Audio website lists dozens of harnesses and adapters for this vehicle. This makes it very difficult to determine which harness/adapter to use. Now I'll be able to listen to great audio when I'm out looking at rocks! Great video. Keep up the good work!
Present Radio Pioneer AVIC W8500NEX I know this video is from 2 years ago. But if your not going to retain Onstar couldn't you just splice into the factory Onstar microphone and use that one. That's what I did and it's been working great I have had no problems with calls or anything. As far is it 2 USBs I repurposed the 12v outlet thats on the passenger side with a 2 port dual USB 3.0 male to USB 3.0 female Aux flush mount. And the HDMI with a male to female car flush mount extension cable.
For future use I would really suggest maybe you list the actual parts used with a valid link in the description section because no point of going through all that detailed information talk if there is no link or text to Google
04:16 - The installation that he shows here is not RP5-GM11 I REPEAT IT NOT THE RP5-GM11 - LOOK AT MANUAL AT 04:16 ---- THE INSTALLATION HE DOING IS A RP4-GM11 ....
I believe I have the rp5-gm11 and was wondering if I could bypass the plugs for speakers being im installing new speakers along with an amp? The truck has the bose stereo setup and onstar.
back in the day those ground loop isolators used to nuke the lower frequencies. i stopped using them a LONG time ago due to this. have they improved in design so as to not sacrifice frequency response now?
Great Job as usual! Here's a question. I have the Bose setup already, and honestly it sounds pretty decent to me the way it is. But I would like to improve the whole system using the least invasive process as possible. What are you're thoughts? I would like to just throw in a regular single din head unit. So I imagine I have to follow the same process with the RP4 right? After that is done, can I replace all the factory Bose speakers to similar after markets and get some improvement? Or do you think that could mess something up? Not sure if the Bose speaker setup works with various impedances/loads, etc. on the factory amp? Let me know what you think. thx.
Just did my05 Monte Carlo. What a joke, and that PAC RP5 interface made all my speakers less than half volume and all distorted and crackling. I bypassed one speaker from the interface and that one sounded great, so I sent the interface back and got a basic harness and a steering wheel control harness and made it work. No chimes, factory amp, but it sounds great. Idk why everyone says you need an interface to bypass the amp. I just left it hooked up and every speaker works fine. Amp not working but leaving it plugged in makes the speaker connection. New stereo pushes more watts so the amp isn’t a big deal
Ahahahah the creepy little yes from the girl that obviously owns the truck at 16:22 ahahahah that's soo cool. I remember as a kid watching my dad teach me how to install subs in my old 1995 Z71 and me saying yes in the same way...ahahahha 😁
Did you hook up all three of the green wires together for the bypass you the green on the bypass the green on the radio and the green on the pac harness just curious
Good video. I own a 2004 sierra 1500 crew cab with a rear seat audio control. After installing a kenwood dmx906s and axxess axdis-cl2 noticed that there is no rear audio and the unit doesn't turn on and the rear speakers run through that unit. Wondering I missed something? Everything else works fine and tried replacing the control module even and the other ones do the exact same thing
Thx for this video and the other one about PAC RP5-GM31! Your giving me hope i can succesfully remove the standard radio ( Cadillac escalade esv 2007 ) and keep the origonal buttons and so on! Just need to figure out a good headunit! Good luck with the channel!
Great video men!! I have the same truck that you guys just installed the pioneer in. Mine has the bose system with the stock DVD player on the top. Can the be intergraded into the new system??
Guys great video! I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge! I'm working on a 2005 Chevy avalanche with an rp5-gm11. I was meticulous when I was connecting the wiring but when I plug in the harness the car will not start? I don't know if I have a defective rp5-gm11, or if there's a problem with the Ken bus, or if the antitheft is engaging? I just wanted to ask you if you ever ran across this problem or if you can offer me any suggestions? Thank you again and keep up the great work guys!
Awesome video, will this be a base to use on a 2005 Trailblazer with Bose system (no subwoofer) without steering controls. I want to start an upgrade to a Kenwood DVD, back up camera and not use the bose amp (changing to a better amp)?
Hope you can help. I have a 01 chevy tahoe. The factory amp is behind the glove box. I installed a aftermarket stereo a few years ago and worked fine. My factory amp does not work anymore. I do have the accessory wire from the stereo wired in to the factory harness. Pink wire on the plug that is not used anymore. My question is. If I bypass the amp as show in the video you did on the red avalanche. Will the factory subwoofer still work? Or is there another bypass that needs to be done? I do have the bypass kit like in your video
I have a 2005 Yukon XL. I just ordered everything you showed here to duplicate the install. Two questions... #1: Does the OnStar still work as normal? #2: My truck has factory DVD and I use the RSE input to play the audio through the truck speakers. Will this kit account for that or is there an additional aux wire set that I have to connect?
You guys make some of the best videos. Do you connect the RCA's from the PAC module to the aftermarket radio or just use the wires for the factory speakers? It is a Bose system.
Same question I don’t want to use all the rca inputs on my radio can I just wire it up using the harness from the radio and still retain the factory system.
Not sure if this is monitored still but just purchased a 2004 yukon denali with typical pain in arse things to install a aftermarket head unit steering wheel controls, rear DVD and radio, Bose, on star. I already have a jvc double din from previous truck that got totaled. It has bluetooth etc. Question is the RP5 GM11 the best one for the job? And by having steering wheel controls and a mic for hands free, do you just use a y spliter? Not really concerned with on star but my truck has a mic in headliner for onstar
I'm using this exact setup, 06 GMC sierra w/bose, pioneer AVH-W4500NEX, and RP-4. The micro bypass specifically states to only connect it to the radio only, am I supposed to connect it to the rp-4 harness as well? Also does the pioneer ignition (red) get powered off the RP-4 relay (red)? There's no standard red ignition wire included on the RP-4 harness. Also is there a reason you didn't use the speed signal? Thanks for the help! Your videos are awesome 👍
Question: I ordered the same RP5-GM11 Class 2 data-bus with 24pin and 12pin harness. I have Bose system and want to keep my steering wheel controls but the only problem I have is that I don’t have the front and rear RCA cables like you have. Looks like I only have a red and white male connectors. I noticed you have 4. I don’t know if they have different versions and do I need them.
Wait. So the steering wheel controls are part of the 24-pin adapter? Which pin/wire is the swc? I feel like this could work with a separate 3.5mm male input into a stereo that had the custom button input
I used a os2x and a swi-rc should I have used something different seemed like the best fit since I have a Yukon with Bose and rear entertainment and I wanted everything to work as if the factory radio had never been touched
Hi I have a 2003 avalanche with Bose soon going to install double din with nav it looks like there is a microphone in the overheat console can I use that mic and do I need a satellite antenna or can I use the on star one also want to do back up camera do you hard wire it in or is it wireless Look forward to hearing from you so far you have the best channel out there thx for your time
You will have to use the new mic that comes with the radio. If it has factory XM you may be able to use a Sat1 to retain the factory antenna. The OnStar antenna will not work for that. We only use hard wired cameras, wireless do not perform well.
Great videos, I've watched several! I've got a 04 Tahoe 6 disc Bose, with rear DVD player and wireless headphones. Will the RP5 kit work to keep these features?
Ci did everything you did in this video and everything works but if the radio is not at 25 or louder the radio starts flashing amp error and the radio goes black I have a 04 Chevy Tahoe z71 I installed a pioneer AVH X390BS
I have a 2003 Silverado 2500hd. I have the Am/FM CD Tape player. I do have steering wheel controls However, I only have ONE wiring harness (although there's a place for TWO on the back of the OEM radio) and the micro antenna wire. Every video I've seen has at least one other wiring harness. Am I missing something here?! I'm wanting to install a JVC (KD-X370BTS) single DIN stereo with Bluetooth and Spotify capabilities. Do I need the interface? And if so, how do I hook it up with only ONE wiring harness? Thanks, your video was VERY informative!
Quick question, hope you guys can help. I have a 2004 Chevy 2500hd. Had the PAC-2bose module and it went out after I spliced in a remote wire for aftermarket amp. So I purchased a bee module. The RP5-GM11. How do I wire in the remote wire for the amp or should I wire it to a separate ignition on power source? Thank you
Omg dude I'm going crazy. Here first time dealing with car stereo I just can figure it out what to what do you connect thr blue wire out of the 5 wire in to the stereo pioneer connector?
Hi, you keep mentioning the reverse senseor and brake lights wire etc! Are these Chevy Silverado radio wires mixed with the transmission or or anything mechanically? First time I've heard of this.
I have the RP 5GM 11. I am installing an aftermarket, subwoofer and amp but I’m still using the door speakers and tweeters at the moment until I decide what speakers I will install there. Do I need to bypass the amplifier since I’m using aftermarker for subwoofer? I was going to just retain amplifier with the sub said it would powered the door still head out a little bit of extra power until I get upgrade but then I started taking will it interfere with the subwoofer and the mono amp. I also saw that there is an RCA input, which I do not think I actually have anyway, but for the Bose system to be plugged into the back of the head unit which my mono amp needs. to cause any electrical issues. They don’t see any instructions on that particular scenario.
do you have any install videos with the new OS-2X. i did a install couple weeks ago with no issues on a silverado 2007 classic kenwood stereo and today doing a install on 05 silverado same stereo radio comes on and functios but ,3 seconds later lost sound. played with the wire harness thought that was issue cause sound came back again and then shut off. Pulled connectors yellow wire, red wire, blue antenna /amp wires and ground wires and soldered all them. same issue first turned on and now no sound again. thinking os-2x is bad?
Awesome vid! The one bit of info that is missing-and, quite frankly, missing from the instructions and every other video I can find on the internet is where to put the PAC brain. Do you just stuff it somewhere and hope it doesn't rattle? Do you try to stick it to something with Velcro? I'm looking at the empty radio bay of my 2004 Chevy Silverado w/ OnStar and I sure don't see where an RP4 (much less an RP5) plus a couple noise filters would even fit behind a full-length double-DIN head unit.
I was told that I needed the os2x module for my 06 Tahoe with on star and bosse system. I install everything the way it was labeled. So I cut the car on and the radio comes for about ten second and cuts off. It does this about 5 times and then it works normal from that point on until I cut the car off. And at that time it repeats the same process. Just want to see if you have ran into this problem
I purchased a pioneer stereo similar to that one, and also got the modules to retain steering wheel controls and on star and all that good stuff, but they had trouble installing or setting up the modules, with the volume button on the steering wheel it changes songs, and with the seek button it'll change the source, what could it be?
What is the difference between rp5 gm11 and rp4 gm11 I have an 04 Silverado HD with onstar which I dont use and Bose which I want . I bought the rp5 ? Great channel
En k lugar se encuentran para ver si me pueden instalar un sonido en mi carro yo estoy en las vegas pero no se ustedes en k lugar esten... Y muy bueno su vídeo se ve k son muy profesionales en su trabajo Saludos des de las vegas
I have a question, I have my 03 Silverado, and I bought a real nice boss audio double din radio, I don’t have the Bose system so I just went with the harness adapter, all the wiring is done correctly, but the radio will not turn on, to make sure I did it right, I hooked the accessory wire to the constant and it powered up and played music just fine, but when it’s wired correctly it won’t come on, I’d hate to have to rip out the radio every time I need to shut it off, any pointers?
You folks are great. I have a 2005 chevy 2500 HD lt. Looks exactly the same. I installed a cheap unit....Boss...please no rude comments, lol. I cannot get it to turn off once I leave the truck unless I do it manually...and now the truck dash where speedo is, the lights stay on. Any ideas on trouble shooting for me. cheers.
Great Video! I have used this vid for hooking up my new AVH1500NEX radio in my 2004 Silverado. I also put the RP4-GM11 for the steering wheel controls. Should I use the Bose amp? Would it sound better if I used the power out of the radio itself? I replaced the front stock speakers with some JBL Club 6500C speakers. Do I need to use the crossover that came with the new speakers or will the crossover in the new radio work? Thanks! Bryan
1:07 what do you mean by C2R and RP4? At this very moment I’m doing a RP Advance and this harness even though is for a 2006 Silverado doesn’t look nothing like yours so I’m here wondering if I do need that black little harness you stuck back into the dashboard.
What harness do I need if I’m i stalling aftermarket radio in my 06 sierra with Bose and onstar but I don’t need the onstar just the Bose can I get by with a regular harness?
What harness should I use if I have a 2004 tahoe with Bose, Steering wheel controls, and rear dvd and radio? I would like to retain all of those functions. I don’t need onstar. Please help me find the correct harness.
UA-cam should hire this dude to edit everyone else’s how to video. He is quick to the point and dosent repeat the same thing over and over and he still gives you all the info. Thank you

The kenwood instructions have nothing to do with the stock wiring in this...
IV been installing all my own radios for the last 18 years this is by far the best break down vid ever much respect brother keep up the good work 💯
I have a bit of a problem I am working on installing a pioneer mhv s215bt into a 2004 silverado and i cant figure out which wires from the Chevy to connect to the pioneer do you have any knowledge about this?

Its a shame because thats the one I was needing
easy install just annoying to cut that back piece
Excellent video Gentlemen - in the process of replacing my 06's radio - short and to the point without any fluff - it is greatly appreciated.

Literally had that ringtone for years now... great video guys very informative and easy to follow.
Where the hell are they located. Finally somebody that knows their stuff! I need a radio installed in an 05 Tahoe!
This is going to help me so much on my install tonight in my 05 silverado
How did it take you?
How long did it take you?

Great video man. Appreciate it gonna save me money on my install for sure.
Great Video, Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge.
Outstanding guys. Perfectly timing I’m sure Paul had something to do with this one haha
+Mark Lengal thank you
Dean. When you and Fernando programmed the OnStar button to answer the phone on the radio does this cancel the OnStar?

that steering wheel cover hurts to look at lol
I'm hoping that and the sock on the shifter is something they put on to keep it clean.

All depends on the stereo you buy I never had a problem replacing a double din with a double din in my 06 Silverado 1500
Does using the RP4 allow you to retain fader controls in the new tuner vs the RP5? I have the factory Bose system in my 2005 Suburban.

Great video men!! I have the same truck that you guys just installed the pioneer in. Mine has the bose system with the stock DVD player on the top. Can the be intergraded into the new system??

I'm wanting to install a JVC (KD-X370BTS) single DIN stereo with Bluetooth and Spotify capabilities. Do I need the interface? And if so, how do I hook it up with only ONE wiring harness?
Thanks, your video was VERY informative!
What's the difference between the pac harness you guys used over the axcess gmos-04 ? Pros?cons?
Quick question, hope you guys can help. I have a 2004 Chevy 2500hd. Had the PAC-2bose module and it went out after I spliced in a remote wire for aftermarket amp. So I purchased a bee module. The RP5-GM11. How do I wire in the remote wire for the amp or should I wire it to a separate ignition on power source? Thank you
What is the small black harness you tucked aeay and didn't use?
Omg dude I'm going crazy. Here first time dealing with car stereo
I just can figure it out what to what do you connect thr blue wire out of the 5 wire in to the stereo pioneer connector?
So u only have to hook up the one big plug coming from the truck what is the smaller plug for
Hi, you keep mentioning the reverse senseor and brake lights wire etc! Are these Chevy Silverado radio wires mixed with the transmission or or anything mechanically? First time I've heard of this.
For back up camera, and disable TV screen while driving
Everyone in the comments looking all humble and scared, but I’m an electrician so this is a cake work job to me 😉😉. Piece of cake
Can I still install the radio with out the bose harness portion?
Awesome job here. Thank you so much. This is going to be so helpful
I need to know if an Atoto A6 will fit in my 2006 GMC Sierra
do you have any install videos with the new OS-2X. i did a install couple weeks ago with no issues on a silverado 2007 classic kenwood stereo and today doing a install on 05 silverado same stereo radio comes on and functios but ,3 seconds later lost sound. played with the wire harness thought that was issue cause sound came back again and then shut off.
That's why they hacked the opening
Where are you guys from I need to install this to my truck
Do they have one for just steering wheel controls

Does this retain the chimes also?
Where do you connect the steering wheel blue/yellow wire to Kenwood ?
I have a question, I have my 03 Silverado, and I bought a real nice boss audio double din radio, I don’t have the Bose system so I just went with the harness adapter, all the wiring is done correctly, but the radio will not turn on, to make sure I did it right, I hooked the accessory wire to the constant and it powered up and played music just fine, but when it’s wired correctly it won’t come on, I’d hate to have to rip out the radio every time I need to shut it off, any pointers?
Can you one with factory navigation?
Thanks! Bryan
How much was labor to do this job?
Supper good like your videos , i try to connect one an don’t have any speakers sounds on a 2003escalaled what can i do to fix the problem thanks
Is the rp5-gm11 an updated version of this harness?
Do you guys have a video on installing a double din and subs and amp in a 98 Silverado c1500 extended cab ?
Metra makes a double din replacement dash for that truck
1:07 what do you mean by C2R and RP4? At this very moment I’m doing a RP Advance and this harness even though is for a 2006 Silverado doesn’t look nothing like yours so I’m here wondering if I do need that black little harness you stuck back into the dashboard.
If you need steering wheel controls RP4
Great job like watching you guys I have 04 Silverado were do you mount the cam
Rich Armintrout, you looking for stock look or a good location?
Great video
What harness do I need if I’m i stalling aftermarket radio in my 06 sierra with Bose and onstar but I don’t need the onstar just the Bose can I get by with a regular harness?
Welp, just when I thought I could do it by myself😣😂
Do you need an RP4 for an aftermarket radio to work in a Silverado or is it just to keep your steering wheel buttons working??
I would say yes. It is for accessory power, lights, reverse, VSS, break
What harness should I use if I have a 2004 tahoe with Bose, Steering wheel controls, and rear dvd and radio? I would like to retain all of those functions. I don’t need onstar. Please help me find the correct harness.
