    You rock. I’m dealing with the same thing. You don’t need the background music. No one, ever, says, man I wish that how-to video had music in it. Never happened. As a creator, you want it to be more attractive in every aspect. As a sound engineer, who is literally addicted to music, I’ll be the first to tell you how golden silence can be. Not so much silence itself, just less distraction from your words and even the content when you aren’t speaking

      I've pretty much come to that conclusion about the music as well. I appreciate the comment and support!

    Thanks for the info and taking the time to put it here. I'm 85 yr. old and haven't painted a car in 35 years. Got a truck that needs some cosmetic work, so been watching u-tube to learn the changes that have been developed---- and WOW!!! 3000 grit paper!!! I once used 600 and thought it cut about as good as a piece of "waxed paper"

    I painted the drivers door on my Mercedes SLK yesterday and the result was disappointing. However, it's mainly just because the clear coat I used was so underwhelming and lacking in shine. Having seen what you achieved with the two stage wet sand and then good polish, I am 100% confident I can get a much better result, when I re-address the job tomorrow. Thanks so much!

    I just had some panels come out like that. I was using high solid clear and a new gun I was trying instead of my trusty W400(which I know how to set up for clear and it doesn't let me down). Bur the dust specs...always. no matter how much I clean, tack, wet floor....
    But bad orange peel, texture, bleah! That does not make me happy! I ended up sanding the panels and flow coating with the W400. Still gotta denib. Still gonna buff. But what a difference going back to my normal gun. I need to stick with what works.

    How do you remove orange peel on just base coat ? Thanks

    • @GarageNoise
      @GarageNoise  Рік тому

      Some peel in base coat can be sanded out after clear coat. If it's real bad 600 and apply more base

    How do you know if you sand through the clear coat?

      You'll see a discoloration in that spot.

    Just wondering wouldn't a 3000 grit sand paper be good enough to buff after? Thank you

    • @GarageNoise
      @GarageNoise  Рік тому

      Absolutely, even the 2000 could be buffed. I really just like to limit the buffing time with a finer scratch. Appreciate the comment and support!

    I had the same problem and I did it like you should. But instead of a nice shine it all looks dull no matter how how I polish it idk why

    Do you sand it after the clear coat or before it when u see the dust and orange peel?

    Thanks a lot . This helps! Planning to do the same this weekend. Just a question... My car door paint is a bit dark from the stock paint (30 percentage darker) . Can I make it dull by using sand paper (1500 grid)? Will this work ? Appreciate your expertise feedback. Thanks.

    • @GarageNoise
      @GarageNoise  4 роки тому

      Unfortunately no , color sanding or wet sanding will not change the color of the paint. The way to fix this would be to blend into the adjacent panels with color and clear those panels. Thanks for comment!

    Excellent video brother. I do have question, How do you fix bumpy paint jobs? Much appreciated and blessings from Los Angeles ✌

      By bumpy do you mean trash ot orange peel or something else? If you have clear you should be able to wet sand and buff it out.

    What’s the key to spraying with minimal orange peel seems like no matter what I do it comes out textured

    • @GarageNoise
      @GarageNoise  2 роки тому +1

      Getting glass like clear comes down to air pressure in relation to paint volume. So if your getting orange peel , you have too little air pressure for the amout of paint that's coming out of the gun. Other factors can effect this like what temperature your painting in or is your compressor producing enough air. Check out this video hope it help! Thanks for supporting the channel!

    What pad and compound did you use after the 5000? Thanks

    • @GarageNoise
      @GarageNoise  2 роки тому

      I use a soft foam pad. The soft is typically the black. 3m pad but if you buffing 5000 the brand doesn't really matter. I've switched over to wizards finish cut. I like it, doesn't leave so much filler behind . Good question,thanks for watching brother!

    Wow, incredible paint work‼️ I took my SUV to shop and he didn’t do a good paint job on my entire ‘19 highlander. I don’t have that orange peel, just on couple small areas. it’s missing that glossy/brightness look like yours. after watching your video now I have high HOPE.am just a beginner but can definitely follow your video. this will save me lots of money!!THANK YOU 🙏🏼 🙏🏼

      Thanks for the comment! Happy to help, let me know if you have a question along the way. Remember you can sand thru the clear. If your orange peel isn't to bad i would recommend starting with 2000 grit wet sand paper.

      @@GarageNoise both happened, the paint became really dull compared to what the initial coat should look like

    • @GarageNoise
      @GarageNoise  4 роки тому

      If you have clearcoat over your paint, color sanding will not effect the color. If your car is painted with single stage paint, meaning there is no clearcoat over the color then color sanding could effect the color. Even then if it's a solid color with no metallics then it should not change the color unless you wet sand thru the paint. If its a heavy metallic color single stage paint I would not wet sand it. A good way to tell if its single stage paint or not would be to buff a little. If color comes off on to the pad it has no clearcoat. Hope this helps thanks for watching and for the comment

    Just a quick question. When you transitioned to your DA for the finer grits, did you use water or dry sand?

    • @GarageNoise
      @GarageNoise  3 роки тому

      I basically dry sand everything. The only time I wet sand is when I cutt and buff clear. That is just what I've found works best for me.

    After buffing, should we put clear coat or it is fine to leave after this stage?
