Awesome work.. straight glass finish without a buff that's all of our goals at the end of every job. I have the euro spray gun it's pretty decent. As long as it's clean after every job, it will work great for a long time.. well done, maybe in a few more weeks, I will start my shop for the booth.
I recently became an automotive painter at a body shop in Portland Maine, without having any prior schooling or training. Had a unique opportunity to learn from a body tech who used to be a painter and be fast tracked to take over as the sole full time painter for our shop in February . I have to say that without your videos and constant rewatches of them I would not be where I am already. You’re amazing for helping the enthusiast and the young people in the industry.
Brian, you are a real master of your trade and an excellent teacher, too. I was a body shop painter way back in 1970 using acrylic lacquers and enamels and I find your videos to be quite fascinating as well as the advances in the technology. Kudos! Keep it up!
Great job and great advice. I am a retired painter and it’s nice to see someone doing it right. I see so many “painters “ doing things the wrong way on UA-cam. You’re not that guy!
Brian, I really appreciate you sharing your wealth of knowledge with us. I've been a DIY painter for many years but you offer so many tips and trips that I've noticed an improvement already after watching just a few of your videos, Thank you!
I just painted my first black car since I did a complete respray on a brand new Mercury Cougar for a dealership back in the early 80's that came in with acid rain damage. Thanks to your channel I laid a super smooth finish. As for the Cougar...well ford set the bar pretty low back then so no comment.
I'm old school (siphon gun) use a Binx #7 . Been soaking up all the info I can get from you on every video you post on shooting with gravity fed guns. To me you are the GOAT! Thank you.
Nothing wrong with old school. Those old Binks and Sharpe spay guns turned out plenty of fantastic paint jobs. I have adapted to the new stuff and it is nice. But paint is still only as good as what is under it.
Found you a few months ago. I cannot say thank you enough. You have lined out all the info needed to pull off fantastic results for a confident novience. Cheers!!
Brian one of the best take aways for me on this vid is not to freak out spraying base when you see some sand scratches. I’m used to single stage and it covers a lot of sins! I’m breaking my truck into sections and on the first one I freaked out stopped the show and wet sanded my hood after two coats of base then came back the next day applied a third and coat then two coats of clear. My hood did come out like glass very excited! I set up my pro lite with a 1.2 and T110 cap. Thank you for your knowledge!
“Having a spray booth does not grant you the right to think you’re gonna have a clean job” I wish that was plastered on billboards across America.. definitely top 3 misconceptions about painting
I have been watching Paint Society for over a year and the lessons, tips, product reviews, gave me the confidence to do more. So I just painted my 1st full car in urethane base/clear last week. But I really learn a lot by doing it; like watching a video on how to swim you, learn by getting into the water! But it would I would have never jumped into the water in the first place without Paint Society's videos. (and BTW the job came out OK, Not good-- not bad-- but much better than how the car looked before.)
Love your channel, I have been watching you for a long time. I’m 💯 percent veteran and now that I had both of my leg surgery and getting better can’t wait to buy a spray gun and try doing it myself as a hobby. At 62 and always wanted to learn it and now getting strong can’t wait. I hope , I can get some advice on what I need for a setup. Thank you for your videos.
You're videos have helped me with 3 car paint jobs done under a carport, each turning out epic, after cutting and polishing. I'm about to clear a carbon fiber fender for a Honda, and watching this video helped me clear out the cobwebs! I'm also floored that the Lexus ES300H did not come with a metallic paint job! My Lexus GS400 still has a beautiful 25 year old pearl white factory paint job, with rainbow sparkles in between the base coat and clear. I repainted the bumper and hood: base, pearls, clear, and each turned out ok on the 3rd attempt. Too much air flow, dust and bugs!
@@PaintSociety Brian, you can't even imagine how many Pro's, and especially DIY's you've helped over the years! Good gravy.. I need to seriously invest in a decent gun. I think I've gotten carpal tunnel from sanding all the orange peel from this fricken rustoleum turbo. Tried to go the cheep route, now paying for it. Literally and physically. Thank you for all your videos. Informative and humbling...

I just painted some trim for my cabinets in my garage full of sawdust and drywall dust using a plastic $50 paint gun/compressor powered by a motor that sounds like a cheap vacuum and it came out great.
Amazing painter love your channel brother, would love to no more about your journey as a painter brother, I’m a apprentice in Australia just trying to make it, haven’t got my chance to really work at a good shop with a good tradesman until recently I moved to a shop now I’m getting a chance to paint more, but my problem is I either spray dry or to wet and get runs, happy I found your channel sir and I am learning so much from your wealth of knowledge once again thank you you are appreciated
Love my DV1-B Basecoat gun. No gun out there lays metallics or pearls like the DV1-B. Tell you another really awsome gun that does almost as good at base but does better than the DV1-C clear gun at clear is that Ani 200 Black Skull Edition i have been playing wìth that comes with digital manometer guage and 3 air caps, one for clear, a WB for base, and an hvlp cap. Brilliant spray gun
Very nice job. I really like the detail you put into your videos. I’ve only been watching for about two months now but I have already seen a couple of things that I need to improve on and one you mentioned in this video is patience 🤷🏼♂️. Thank you for sharing your expertise with us. It really does help
Back in the '70's...(yeah that old...) there was this guy who painted Coke machines for his father-in-law. My brother asked him if he'd spray his 1970 Mach 1 Ford red. He said sure. We wet sanded the gloss away, taped it up,and put it in his garage......no vented spray booth, but he did have flourescent lights on the walls and ceiling. He sprayed it with DuPont acrylic enamel......single stage, and it looked like glass when he was done. That still is the best spray job I've ever seen.
What was the trick with gun setting, paint mix ratio or application process.for that ultra glass finish off the gun. What thinner % do you use compared to TDS on the clear coat? Great channel by the way. Thank you.
I’m doing a restoration job which includes complete bar metal and epoxy primer the car. Im wanting to do base and clear on the panels but could I use single stage in the door jambs and areas not seen as much. Underside of trunk and hood etc.
Great video Brian! I see that you went over the same areas on the car on the 2nd coat of clear and really layed it on heavy. I'm doing a matte clear currently. Is that advisable for all clearcoats? Thanks again!!
Good morning Brian Congratulations on your Son. Been watching your channel for awhile. Paint my first job metal fence post s. I used a 3m gun that a buddy gave. Super easy to clean just like you said. I bought the Astro gun you recommended. Will use it to paint a Cj-5 jeep I have.

Can you tell me where to buy microfiber cloth to wipe down the car, tape to use and the plastic sheets you use to cover the car? Thanks for a great channel
Hello Brian! Was wondering if a gallon of primer, gallon of base, and gallon of clear is enough to paint my 2005 honda civic coupe. Thanks for your videos they really help me.
Brian after watching your videos for months, im now doing my paint project on my car. I hope everything goes well at the end. But one question Brian, my primer is very dusty after the aplication and why is that?
Love your Channel man! As a used car dealer in clearwater, I started to learning how to paint small stuff or touch up small scratches cause of you. #Keepupthegoodwork
So I own a Devilbiss Tekna Pro Lite. Spraying clear and base with trigger depressed what should base and clear be roughly at for psi? Also i noticed when you were setting gun up for clear you pulled trigger all the way back and then turned knob in till it just started to advance trigger and stopped there. Do u fully pull trigger all the way open when spraying clear with the optimal psi. Love your videos! So much valuable information. Keep it up!
Hey Brian, would love to get a static gun... will any of them work for paint? I have an old sharps hvlp but it's suction fed. Use an older Sagola gravity fed mostly. Looking to buy a dedicated clear gun as well as basecost gun. Can you recommend a couple? Thanks Dusty.
