Your vases turned out amazing! Be sure to clean the vases first with rubbing alcohol to makes sure there's no sticky residue left from removing the price tags.. Natural oils found on your hands and fingers can effect how to paint adheres to the surface, as well. Thanks so much for posting your great tutorial!
@@Dezdamoonbear yes I agree. But how to seal them? And if it is wax how to you maintain the vases in future? I’m a bit skeptic about if the paint is gonna stay on the glass and if you can ever wash them
Nice job they look amazing. If you want to stop the paint from sticking to your hands and nails. Put hand lotion on your hands before you work. Let it dry really well. When the paint gets on you, it will wash off really easy.
I have used acrylic paints on pots...try it. Gives a dry look. I used green yellow red. Only I made lines form left to right and blend colours yo give a kind of marble effect.
I have your solution to moving your vase that is wet with paint. Pending the size, use tongs or jar retrievers that have rubber on them. Insert and open, then move. If they don’t have rubber grips, hot glue non slip cupboard liners or mat liners if you don’t mind letting a pair of tongs go for these projects. Hope this helps! Love the paint colours you chose! They to will go with my decor.
Great video. To help you move your vases when wet put a couple of plastic cups in the opening so you never have to touch the case but you'll be able to move the around...but I love your work!
I've been watching a lot of these, as I am going to be trying it for a gift, and most are using baking powder instead of baking soda. It seems to make the paint thicker. But I LOVE all the colors of your vases! Beautiful 😍
I loved the video because I was looking for how to paint on glass bottles and I didn't know that baking soda was added to the paint, thanks for the technique. I going to continue following you.
Hello I loved your diy because I am literally always trying to make glass look more boho or “farmhousy”. But wanted to make a small suggestion, I literally was watching another diy right before urs, and a woman was showing how to diy ur own chalk paint and she showed 3 different ways and wich one was the beat and what one was really not much of a difference.BAKING SODA was the one that was not a big difference except for a more thick mix. Then she said she has also heard of people using corn starch and that gets very clumpy, she then showed us on a swatch how mixing baby powder wich was her hack, and it looked so amazing . Wich brings me to ur diy, I think a little corn starch ,baking soda, and baby powder, all mixed together, with a thick, maybe even clumpy consistency, spread all over the vases would look so chic!!!I
Thank goodness that I found you on here I’ve been looking for a tutorial on this and you are the best one that I’ve found by far ! Thank you so much sweetie .
Beautiful! I think doing the multiple layers with different paint/baking soda thickness makes for a really natural look! I cannot wait to try this DIY.
It works much better if you cut up a sponge and pounce it on vs brushing it. That way you get a more raised textured look and you won’t have to do so many coats either.
Hi.. these look beautiful. Can you please link all the brands of the color paints and paint brushes that you used while painting these glass jars? This will be a great help. Thanks!
Just a little help with Mesa.... pronounce it may~sa. It’s meant to resemble the taupe/beige/reddish colors of the American southwest high dessert colors like the Grand Canyon. 😉
Hi there, quick question were your paint samples satan? Or did they have a gloss in them? I want to make sure I get the right ones to achieve these looks. Thank you. 💗
Hi, these are so gorgeous ! We don t have this brand were i live, is this a paint for walls or something else ? I really want to recreate this kind of vases 😍
Would this work on a plastic vase? I have a cat that loves flowers. She recently broke my Nippon vase on the day I got it because she wanted to smell the flowers. I can not stay mad at that lovely little floof monster for loving flowers. I would like to create vases that are monster proof lol!
Can I give u an idea so you can move the vases after you paint? Place them upside down over a plastic disposable cup. Mayb if you dab (NOT BRUSH) paint on it would give it a nice clay texture? Just a thought
Baking side gives texture n. Ames vase look like pottery with a few coats of the paint n baking soda. When dry, lightly paint with brown, black, etc in different spots and wipe with cloth to get pottery look.
They look great!! Can you please tell me what paint are we supposed to use ? Is it acrylic or someother paint ? Please let me know planning on trying this out
Thank you! I used acrylic paint, flat and matte. I've attached one of the pain't I used down below, hope that's helpful. Let me know how yours turn out I would love to see! :) www.behr.ca/consumer/ColorDetailView/PPU5-14

Thank you for sharing! I have so many odd shaped vases that I want to update to my style. Loved the looks of these! 😍
Next time try to work not vertically, but horisontally, as in reality pots are made this way, i mean stripes
Smart
Great tip...thanks 😊
How cool!!! I wonder if they can be lightly cleansed later on though?

What you're describing is a paint texture similar to chalk paint.
Definitely trying this. Thank you for sharing
Love the colors, I have a very large glass vase, I'm excited to try this technique!
yay!
I use dollar tree spackle and paint and I do 2 coats. 1st coat I paint it on 2nd coat I blot it and it turns out awesome
I also dried with hair dryer in between coats
U have to make sure they are completely dry in between coats if you don't want the paint to come off

Very nice job 👍
don't you need to sand the surface of the glass first so the paint will stick?
I've heard people will paint a layer of modge podge first to give the glass grip. I haven't tested it but sounds about right
What paint is it acrylic maybe i missed that part

I used matte wall paint from Behr!

Buy more brushes or start with the lightest colour then you don't have to wash out the brush each time.
Thank you for the tip 🥰
What does baking soda do?
thickens the paint into a more ceramic look!
