Hi you guys! Some of you wanted to see how I DIY these thrifted pieces to look like aged pottery. Let me know if you have any questions, and let me know which is your favorite piece! Thank you for watching!
Hi, I love your aged pieces and I would like to repeat the process ! Would you tell me the name of the material and how to mix it to get the texture ? Thank you very much ❤
I just stumbled across your video today while I was inside cooling off...let me just say WOW!! I am a crafter upcycler, thrifter, decorator...I'm follow several UA-cam channels. But I'm VERY impressed with this one from you. I've watched multiple videos on how to get that aged earthenware, antique pottery look. Yours was really very good! For a couple reasons- you are easy to understand, to the point, very clear in your instructions and you show what your doing but not 25min of rambling on about it. I didn't FWD once! I'm going to check out the rest of your channel now! 👍🏻
Hello Chelsea, oh I throughly enjoyed this video. Thank you so much for going into detail on how to age an texture pieces and give it that old world look ! I would have to say your lamp is my favorite along with the small vessel in the last part of your video. Again thank you for taking out the time to show us all. I hope you have a wonderful an blessed week to come, take care 💖🌷
Good evening Chelsea! All of your thrifted diy pieces look like high end dupes! They’re all beautiful but, I especially like the small white one with the dark color peeking through. Thank you for showing your techniques! 💕
I love all of them, but if I had to chose, it is the last one. The compound gives softer movements and I like the lighter color. Good job, can’t wait til the next dyi!
Another great video of you sharing your many talents. I love that you share exactly what you do from start to finish and then how you displayed it in your home. You're the best Chelsea. 👏 Have a wonderful week.
One of the best DIY for vessels that I've seen. The lamp has exactly the look I'm hoping to achieve with my next project, so that was my favourite. You've given me the confidence to get to it. Thank you so much.
She's not kidding about doing think layers. I learned that the hard way and ended up throwing my first try away (it was a recycled jar, so no biggie). Keep in mind you can create texture/depth with the paint after you do a layer of joint compound.
Wow!! So well done!! They all look like you bought them from Pottery Barn or other high end store but without the hefty price tag. It is a Win, Win!! They look great in your space!!
Hi Chelsea 😊 Beautiful on all them , I especially love the ombre brown/ redish one! I have several that I thrifted & have done this too , they look stunning ❤ Always a pleasure, my friend xo
I had no idea you painted those pieces in the living room redo. Wow! I am going to give it a try. Love it. Looks like pottery barn or west elm. Amazing work. Girl you have an eye for design. Peace!
Hi there, just found your channel while looking for a technique like these, they are beautiful...thanks for sharing....Watching from Canada.....Take care...cheers !!!
These are beautiful! You are so very talented. I attempted one pot. It was a major fail. F.A.I.L. I think I had too much baking soda and didn't blend enough. So envious of yours, they look like you bought them like that. ⚱
Thank you! I know the mixture can be a little tricky to get used to, especially because it makes the paint dry so quickly. It helps if you have a damp paper towel handy. You can use that to smooth spots that aren’t blended well 🖤
Great video, Chelsea! I so appreciate you sharing the process in such an in depth way. I have several pieces I want to use this techniques on. Also, I must apologize, I hit the dislike button by accident so it has been corrected. Thanks again for showing so much detail. Next warm sunny day, I plan to give it a try.😊
Pam, thank you! It was a little tricky to edit because I know it probably felt a little repetitive because there are so many layers. And no worries on the button! ☺️🖤
Wonderful video!! Thank you! I really like the pieces you chose. The shapes all transfer so pretty into "pottery"! Can you tell me what kind of paint you use? Does it matter?
Nice transformation on "all" pieces! Gave me some great ideas. What if you used a "matte" finishing spray on the pieces? Less of a shine? or does it still come out a bit shiny?
You did a great job! All of them look amazing but my favourite is the lamp! I loved the moody, rusty look of it. I just wanted to ask you if you used baking soda in the paint you used when blending the colours or was it just in the base coat? And did you use acrylic paint or the one we use on furniture or walls? Thank you!!!
Thank you! ☺️ I used baking soda in all of the paint, even the accent colors. It keeps the texture consistent. I used both types of paint actually. It doesn’t make a difference which you use, I just used what I had on hand.
Hi. Nice video. Can you give me a bit more info on when an how to use the baking soda mixture? I also wonder if mixing it with water before adding it to paint would be helpful.
Hi Robert! As long as your vessel is cleaned and dry you can use the baking soda mixture. Definitely do not use any water!! It will dilute your mixture and you’ll have a wet mess on your hands that won’t stick well. Just stick to the paint and baking soda.
Just beautiful!! I’ve been going around doing this to some of my old pots & vases I’m so glad I kept them and now I can decorate my new home.. Q?: is this color Rich Black by Folk Art Acrylic Paint? Lastly I’m using some clear matte Krylon flat spray paint to seal these diy’s after completing.. Is that ok to do? Thank you for sharing 🎉
Thank you! I’m not certain which black it is, but I always choose the truest black I can find. It’s totally up to you if you want to seal your pieces, just use the seal in thin coats if you decide to do it!
Had that exact small green one! I aged mine with whites and greys. It turned out beautiful, but sadly my cat knocked it over and broke it just a few days ago. I hope I can find another one. All of these look great!
It depends on the piece and what I’m using it for. If it’s for dried florals and you won’t see the inside, then no. I typically do the bottom with just a basic coat since you won’t see that either.

My mother in law used to love to create aged vessels. She used to add coffee and cinnamon to pieces and it really gave it another much older effect

Thank you for the kind words, Karalyn! These DIY’s are definitely a money saver compared to the authentic pieces for sure. Appreciate the support 🤗
This is the best remake of vessels I have seen! ❤

Kathy, thank you! I was worried the white pot may be too simple for the video, but sounds like that is not the case. ☺️🖤
I love all of them, but if I had to chose, it is the last one. The compound gives softer movements and I like the lighter color. Good job, can’t wait til the next dyi!

Wow! Who would guess that those are the same pieces! I love them all!! I want to try this, you make it look so easy. 🖤
Thank you! It’s definitely beginner friendly if you do the prep steps and work on one piece at a time. Doing a bunch at once gets a bit chaotic lol 😅

Can you tell me what kind of paint you use? Does it matter?
Thanks Sue! I just used what I had at home, which was craft paint and a sample of wall paint. As long as you avoid glossy paint you should be fine!

Had that exact small green one! I aged mine with whites and greys. It turned out beautiful, but sadly my cat knocked it over and broke it just a few days ago. I hope I can find another one. All of these look great!
That sounds like cat mom life for sure lol. I hope you can find another one!
very nice thank you!!!
Nice! What is the name of the sealer?
Hi! What is the name and colour shade of the dark brown paint used in the reddish vase?
❤
Enjoyed the video. Supporting. See you soon
Hi would have loved if you could list the paint you used????
Do you cover the bottom and inside of each vessel too?
It depends on the piece and what I’m using it for. If it’s for dried florals and you won’t see the inside, then no. I typically do the bottom with just a basic coat since you won’t see that either.
What is your day job? You are very talented. ❤
Thank you! I am in social work ☺️
what paints you used?
can you provide a product list?
Do these pieces have to be sealed? From Ga.
They don’t have to be. I have pieces I did a few years ago that weren’t sealed and they’re still the same as the day I did them ☺️
