  • I Had a guy message me and told me he had a wrecked GSXR-1000, he wanted to get rid of it to make the wife happy so I went to check it out and we made a deal and it was significantly cheaper than a bike from COPART but the bike was badly wrecked. In this video I cleaned the frame around the damaged area and broke out my tig welder to start this sketch repair!

      I will be riding this and torture testing it like wheeling it and setting it back down hard and work my way up to high speeds, and I’ll go from there.

    • @Benjamminoutdoors
      @Benjamminoutdoors  3 роки тому +11

      The reason why they are saying good job is many of my views are from foreign countries, many of which don’t have plentiful parts for all these high performance bikes so they have to pay a fortune for parts or repair what they have. I like to gear my videos toward my viewers which means repairing and not always replacing cause not everyone has the luxury of being in the USA where parts are “cheap” (this GSXR frame would be like 3k or more), but many people around the world do have welders. All that said it Doesn’t mean this is technically the safest thing, I’ll definitely be torture testing it but there is a significantly more aluminum there than there was before so I don’t think I’ll have any issues. If and when I sell it I will be disclosing all information on the bike and the repairs that were done.

      I agree that the frame is scrap better buy used frame on eBay for $500 then all this ‘useless’ welding. The frame did have major force on it and nobody know how the original weddings and. The structure of the frame is inside .

    First of all good job. Secondly I'm alittle concerned about that repair next time you should just plague weld it nice. Run some beads and don't worry about the original appearance. Aslong as you run nice welds who cares. The way you did it would not fly if you we're trying to get a rebuilt title.

    This frame will never be the same. Heat shock and probably the different kind of alluminium. And also thickness of material and hardness of the material is really different from original and surely very different from the left side of the frame. This bike never be the same and on track use the stability in braking and cornering will be bad. The only way to repair vehicle is by using OEM replacements.
