  • I Had a guy message me and told me he had a wrecked GSXR-1000, he wanted to get rid of it to make the wife happy so I went to check it out and we made a deal and it was significantly cheaper than a bike from COPART but the bike was badly wrecked.
    In this video I stripped the frame down so i could send it off for powdercoat.

    Oh my gosh - you never fail to impress me with your innovative approach to problems - I've seen plenty of people weld nuts to broken studs - but that "washer and socket" approach - a first for me - and I've been tinkering with bikes for forty odd years! Great stuff Benjammin - best of luck with the move - rest assured we'll all be here waiting for you once you're done! 👍🤩

      the socket wasn't the best option really lol but it worked and i have a TON of extra sockets so it wasn't a big deal to ruin one but thanks!

    keen on starting my first rebuild. found a 2000 R6 (technically not a rebuild because electronics and mechanics are working but I want to modernise the bike and replace everything that needs to be replaced)
    so I'm watching learning the different parts and what to tackle first along the journey. Thank you for being so detailed in your explanations!
    All the way from South Africa

    Congrats on the new house. You should definitely film the move of your shop stuff and how you set up the shop in the new place. Would love to see it during the set up process and focal walk through of where you put everything and how you organized it all. 🙏

      For sure! We have a ton of work to do on the house per our contract but after I’ll definitely get my shop set up nice and film it.

    Powder coat looks great! Too bad the build gets held up by shipping, but that’s part of the rebuild game. Good luck with the new house!

    Nice! buying a house best decision you can make ! I haven't been able to make any videos because of buying a house you will probably understand once you do. but I will be back soon. Not going to lie welding the header bolts made me scratch my head 🤣 but nice job!

    • @Benjamminoutdoors
      @Benjamminoutdoors  2 роки тому +2

      I know! We actually have to repair a lot within the first 30 days per the contract so I’m ganna be pretty busy…
      And yeah lol I don’t like the idea of drilling and retapping so the welding broken bolts is my first go to.

      @Benjamminoutdoors  2 роки тому +8

      you're right, I'm not a pro this is all for fun and I'm constantly learning. but I'm curious what was SOO wrong that I did exactly? Because the only thing that I see that I did that professional mechanics wouldn’t do was use the impact driver and using a dead blow hammer for the bearings. I don’t have a hydraulic press right now so I can’t really help that and the impact driver yeah I know it’s not professional but it’s not like I hammered the bolts home, most things I snuggle them up and then come back with a ratchet. if you’re not an idiot then you won’t strip things out. I’ve never stripped a bolt with the impact driver. I also don’t have a small torque wrench so I can’t torque the small stuff, A professional shop can afford everything immediately, but it’s taking me about five years to accumulate what I have and I still am missing a ton of tools, I’m not rich I can’t just buy every tool a shop has right away at least, it’s a process.

      You prob can’t even change your own oil without using a video someone like Ben made, I bet money on it. This guy has more mechanical skill in his left pinky than you ever had in your whole life. I wish you could watch a “professional” mechanic work on your vehicles, it would blow your mind, you are so sheltered.
