    There is an intensity to Garfunkel's voice that makes it much more than just pretty. Simon is simply a brilliant guitarist. He can carry the entire concert with that one instrument like an orchestra.

    • @kalmia01
      @kalmia01 Рік тому +10

      Exactly, it's a special tension, as if he's declaiming a fundamental truth to people, a prayer or a poem, something we needed and were searching for, but were not aware till we heard it. Something crafted by the unique and poignant writing, and playing of Simon, and created by the perfect, misterious simbiosys of their two voices, of their souls...
      They are quite unique in music.

    five minutes into this and I am already astonished. These guys are not much more than kids writing and performing great poetry that helps define an era, and transcends that same era, as literature tends to do, which they put to notes on the musical scale. And then they sang that creation with a purity and simplicity that expresses it all.

      @@patriciabarnes7034 I grew up in the sixties, so I've listened to them all my life. I can't get over how beautiful their harmonies were, but the big thing that always gets me is Paul's guitar playing. How does he do that? It's like the highest possible level of folk guitar playing. He makes it look easy, but OMG that is top flight guitar playing.

    I always thought how still Art looks during his preformances. He gets totally lost in his singing... Total concentration and never, nor seldom taps his feet or shake his tail feather, so to speak. He looks like the shy intervert, yet, I think Paul is shy too but, there's something behind Paul's eyes, and a look on his face that is as deep and complex as an ocean.
    Love all the songs these two did together... Still do and still listening to them today Their voices were made to go together. March 2021.

    Foi pensado minuciosamente em cada detalhe de arranjo musical e vozes. Poderia estar horas ouvindo vocês meus queridos.
    São duas pessoas + dois talentos +dois personalidades +dois momentos...permanecer por longos tempos, será impossível não haver alguma divergencias, mas perduran com o tempo o mais precioso que existe em vocês que é o carinho, a amizade e a cumplicidade. Um foi o escudo para o outro i incondicionalmente. Independe do grau de apoio, mas se ajudaram mutuamente e daí são os melhores. Isso também há uma fatia de humildade para conquistarem o mais alto posto de reconhecimento perante o publico maravilhoso que os amam. Ademais dos mais belos atitudes de verem e servirem em ajudarem aos menos favorecidos pessoas por esse mundo afora. Meus Parabéns meus queridos amigos. Razão do meu grande amor por vocês e são de grande relevancia em meu coração. O respeito, admiração e carinho que sinto por vocês. Que Deus abençoa grandemente vocês e família. It's interesting how different the phrasing is in this performance of The Sound of Silence compared to the recording and many live shows. It proves how professional they were in each and every performance where they happened to be. Never missed a beat. Wish l was older when they were most visible because l would've appreciated them more.

    Sorry some feel the need to bash modern musicians. we need music! This is a wonderful example from the days of my youth.. And i love it when the young generation likes it too. But i mostly hope they love music that speaks to them. And am sad when the kind of music you like/dislike gets weaponized in the inane culture wars or destructive inter-generational strife.

    Hands down, one of the best duos to ever hit the music scene, Paul's creativity drawing from rhythms and melodies worldwide, and Art's stunning vocals second to none. Even after splitting up, they continued to move and exhilarate us with their individual talents, and I personally consider Art's solo efforts to rank his best, and among the finest offerings of that genre. I dare anyone to sit through his "Breakaway" album without getting misty eyed.

    Amazing....simply amazing!!!
    Totally captivating and no need for any ridiculous stage setting which now have to be compulsory for concert shows in order to over compensate and distract the audience from the lack of song quality and talent that they are observing. This is just two young men with real song writing and singing talent!!!

    In my 60’s now, and not in great health, but I always feel great listening to this timeless classic. It reminds me of my first girlfriend when I was a young boy, and takes me back to my youth listening to Simon and Garfunkel on my old turntable. I wish I could go back there one more time before I pass.
