Found this only today. Been listening to this song for the last five decades. This version is the best. The word sublime came to mind before I even saw the other comments. Sublime indeed!
To me most of the Simon and Garfunkel popular songs are manifestations of spirituality in pure form and puts me in a state of prayer. That Andy Williams so gently added his presence to this rendition resultimg in more perfection should not be a surprise.

Followers of shredding will not understand the complexity of fingerpicking where EACH finger of both hands has to follow its own rhythm independently yet have to create a composite rhythm pattern. It takes more practice time to learn Anji by S&G than Stairway by Zeppelin.
@@diffbreak2366 Anji was written by Davy Graham. Paul Simon got much of his influences from playing in England back in the day, hence Scarborough Fair (ask Martin Carthy - Paul Simon used Carthy's arrangement and didn't credit him. Bob Dylan also used Carthy's arrangement of Scarborough Fair for 'Girl from the North Country' and a year later 'Boots of Spanish Leather', after a meeting with Carthy in London, in 1962).
Art Garfunkel’s voice had such an effortless, open quality to it, and great range. Simon’s writing was second to none. And Andy Williams was such an amazing vocalist himself. Great stuff.
I know right? Art looks like he's not even trying whenever he sings - no straining or facial expressions of effort - just this unreal clarity that's like pouring water whenever he sings. What a gift to be given and personally I'm so glad he shared it with the world. Him and Simon together are just à match made in heaven .
These three are my favorite Singers. Even before S&G, I used to sing by heart all Andy's hits. Lovely Voice and Great Performances. Fortunately Internet saved these precious gems to us ...

Paul Simon said Artie had one of the purest, most beautiful voices he'd ever heard and it inspired him. Andy Williams also had a beautiful, sweet high tenor voice.
Love ❤ Andy, Simon & Art. "Scarborough Fair" is from Heaven. It is a communication from all loving souls that have passed to be shared with all of the souls still present & able to listen. ❤

That was beautiful. Andy Williams was a fine singer and musician and such a nice man. I met him once at Western Recorders in Los Angeles. He was a big star at the time and I was just a lowly roadie, but he couldn't have been more gracious and warm.
Long time fan of Simon and Garfunkel's but never heard this before. this is absolutely incredible and Andy Williams is a perfect fit for their voices in Harmony and he actually adds something to this to where now I am spoiled for life and this is my favorite version of this song now. I wonder if Andy ever did anything else with them if not it would be a shame. They could have easily made an album together because the three of their voices together are just incredible. Not sure if Simon and Garfunkel's egos (or record labels) could have handled that but we would have been spoiled nonetheless. In any event I am so grateful to have found this treasure!
When I was a kid.. I loved Paul Simon.. but always loved the harmonies. As I am now a Grandma.. I see Art Garfunkel as a angel spirit on earth, cloaked in a human body. And Paul Simon.. POET.
I was born in the late sixties-my parents were Simon and Garfunkel fans and I was fortunate to grow up hearing this song often. It never, ever gets old-always amazing every time I hear it. Somber and haunting yet hopeful at the same time. This harmonizing is beautiful. Reminds me of safety and simpler times.
Damn... they sound great together. I never would have thought it before, but I wish they made an album. Simon, Garfunkel, & Williams. I'm sorry it never happened, but at least we have this to enjoy!

Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme Remember me to one who lives there She once was a true love of mine
You've got some lines missing... Are you going to Scarborough Fair? This is better than Simon and Garfunkle alone and Andy adds a sweetness to it. Their voices are beautiful together. Heart heart :)
I would love to have this on DVD to listen to.
I would say this is one of the best songs I have listened too in my whole life. Andy Williams effortless vocals make this song a masterpiece and so much better than the Simon and Art Garfunkel original.
Yes. Agreed.
Because they can do 3 part harmonies and they are all genius musically
Andy Williams is bold and smokin'!!!!!
I wish they had recorded this version in the studio at the time.
My apologies to Andy. I always despised his shows and never took time to listen, but now I know that he can sing and I am sorry I never gave him my ear.
3 of my favourite singers love ❤️ from Ireland
Found this only today. Been listening to this song for the last five decades. This version is the best. The word sublime came to mind before I even saw the other comments. Sublime indeed!
me too - absolutely stunning
Me too and it's amazing..... Wow is the right word
Me too!
Andy Williams had the voice that he could sing with anybody
It's the greatest medieval sounding ballad of all time
I think people forget how incredibly talented Simon and Garfunkel were.
To me most of the Simon and Garfunkel popular songs are manifestations of spirituality in pure form and puts me in a state of prayer.
That Andy Williams so gently added his presence to this rendition resultimg in more perfection should not be a surprise.
The most hauntingly beautiful song.
For fuck's sake, this is so beautiful. They are all smiling that smile when you know you are making art.
Mr Simon almost lost it 'bout 1/2 way thru. I thought he was going to laugh-sing the line
Paul Simon is a genius.
He didn't write it.
@@DoodlesMusic He did write Canticle though, didn't he?
People asked... Why would you listen to old songs?
Answer: THIS!
Stupid people - this is true music!!
You are so right. Andy Williams has an amazing voice and Art......no one sings more beautiful than Art Garfunkel. No one ever. Together they are amazing. I could listen to this forever.
jasphy Badilla I often feel I am the reincarnation of someone with very good taste.. Harrison is my favorite Beatle, nobody could play like Stevie Ray, and fuck I miss Chris Cornell... l owe my current existence to music, good music, music that not only makes you feel alive, but at times keep you that way. \m/
Because they are GREAT SONGS.... Makes me feel young , again
jasphy Badilla
Another answer is:
All songs get old.
Anyone 2022? Goddamn.. So beautiful... wished we where living in this time...
I've been listening to this since I first discovered it, about five years ago. For that matter, I've been listening to S&G since _Parsley, Sage, Rosemary & Thyme_ came out, and their work still finds my turntable and CD player regularly. And to have Williams join them? I mean Get Out Of Dodge! Truly transcendent!
2024 September 2nd
Andy Williams called Simon & Garfunkel "my brothers" Andy was absolutely touched by their profound talent!
I love the liquid-sounding quality of the guitar.
Paul Simon might not have the in your face soloing virtuosity, but he makes in beautiful arpeggios and fingerstyle phrases.
@@ezzong , hey man, you mean he don't shred on a 24 fret PRS?
Paul Simon didn't write Scarborough Fair.
These three are my favorite Singers. Even before S&G, I used to sing by heart all Andy's hits. Lovely Voice and Great Performances. Fortunately Internet saved these precious gems to us ...
This is TALENT. Beautiful and very deep song. Awesome voices and melodies. Best duo ever.
Gorgeous blend of men’s voices- absolute perfection.
Never a more beautiful song was written. Andy did it justice.
It's musical poetry , Quintessentially English .
Very old traditional English song ❤
This is absolutely unbelievable, an absolute perfect masterclass in harmony. Literally gives me goosebumps every time..
Me too! I just came across this now and I'm speechless! Such beauty is breath taking and ethereal and also seems as it can't be real its that perfect. Divine.
@@gottawonder9091 Its profound grace and beauty is overwhelming. I have watched this ten times or more and each time I weep.
Richard you are so right!
Art had the most beautiful, poetic voice
Paul Simon said Artie had one of the purest, most beautiful voices he'd ever heard and it inspired him.
Andy Williams also had a beautiful, sweet high tenor voice.
Love ❤ Andy, Simon & Art.
"Scarborough Fair" is from Heaven.
It is a communication from all loving souls that have passed to be shared with all of the souls still present & able to listen. ❤
Andy Williams had one of the smoothest voices I've ever heard. Beautiful. He was perfect with them.
You come back and listen in a thousand years it's still the finest ❤
I never heard Andy Williams singing with Simon and Garfunkel, His sweet voice went extremely well with this beautiful song. It was magical to me. Thanks for posting it.
Beyond words. R.I.P. to my friend B. this was one of his favourite songs
Andy Williams and Simon and Garfunkel fan who lived in Scarborough (England) with a true love of mine!
Like Andy Williams said...they didn't need lights and dancers and all that. Pure, raw talent. That's all that's needed. And they had it. Mesmerizing.
One of the most beautiful songs ever written. Art and Andy are awesome together, you can see how much they enjoyed singing together
They didn't write it though. But I agree
Amazing! Andy actually added to it to make it even better, and that's not easy when it's already great.
Agreed.
to me, this video displays the brillance of art garfunkel...he is masterful
Tom Price - and Simons range isn't bad, but his guitar playing is so good
being a duet or a band is more of a chemistry... so, eventually both play a crucial role in the outcome ;)
When I was a kid.. I loved Paul Simon.. but always loved the harmonies. As I am now a Grandma.. I see Art Garfunkel as a angel spirit on earth, cloaked in a human body. And Paul Simon.. POET.
Incredible and perfect blending of voices...warm, velvety and comforting.
Even for my french ears, it's sound incredibly. I love it.
I love how happy Andy is during this performance.
It’s hard to believe how great tv used to be. What a fantastic performance.
I was born in the late sixties-my parents were Simon and Garfunkel fans and I was fortunate to grow up hearing this song often. It never, ever gets old-always amazing every time I hear it. Somber and haunting yet hopeful at the same time. This harmonizing is beautiful. Reminds me of safety and simpler times.
beautiful version of this. I swear Art Garfunkel can sing with anybody
When you have true talent, a stool, a light, a guitar & mic is all you need.
Damn... they sound great together. I never would have thought it before, but I wish they made an album. Simon, Garfunkel, & Williams. I'm sorry it never happened, but at least we have this to enjoy!
It would have been perfect
Simon, Garfunkel, And Williams?
They did sound phenomenal together!
The best version of this song anywhere, 3 breathtakingly talented men and Andy Williams helps turn this already great song into something truly celestial.
one of the most beautiful songs of all time
Andy Williams has the greatest voice ever. This is America.
The absolute genius of these artists from back then!
Growing up my family rarely missed watching The Andy Williams Show, it was one of the highlights of our week. My dad bought a few of Andy's albums, I remember them well. Though I didn't own any of their albums, I was and remain a Simon and Garfunkel fan. This performance with Andy Williams is truly classic. Thanks for sharing it here.
Lyrics: (Feel free to correct me and have fun)
Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
She once was a true love of mine
Tell her to make me a cambric shirt
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
Without no seams nor needle work
Then she'll be a true love of mine
Tell her to find me an acre of land
(in the deep forest green)
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
(Tracing of sparrow on snow-crested ground)
Between the salt water and the sea strands
(Bedclothes the child of the mountain)
Then she'll be a true love of mine
(Sleeps unaware of the clarion call)
Tell her to reap it with a sickle of leather
(Blazing in scarlet battalions)
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
(Generals order their soldiers to kill)
And gather it all in a bunch of heather
(A cause they've long ago forgotten)
Then she'll be a true love of mine
Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
She once was a true love of mine
🌲🌷Kai: THANK YOU SO MUCH, FOR THE LYRICS ! How kind of you to share them with us.
I think it’s candlewick shirt.
You've got some lines missing...
Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
She once was a true love of mine
Tell her to make me a cambric shirt
(On the side of a hill in the deep forest green)
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
(Tracing of sparrow on snow-crested ground)
Without no seams nor needlework
(Blankets and bedclothes the child of the mountain)
Then she'll be a true love of mine
(Sleeps unaware of the clarion call)
Tell her to find me an acre of land
(On the side of a hill, a sprinkling of leaves)
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
(Washes the grave with silvery tears)
Between the salt water and the sea strand
(A soldier cleans and polishes a gun)
Then she'll be a true love of mine
Tell her to reap it in a sickle of leather
(War bellows, blazing in scarlet battalions)
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
(Generals order their soldiers to kill)
And to gather it all in a bunch of heather
(And to fight for a cause they've long ago forgotten)
Then she'll be a true love of mine
Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
She once was a true love of mine
@@Pluggit1953 No, it's cambric, which is a finely-woven cloth - originally linen, later cotton. Now known as 'Chambray'.
Thanks
I have fond memories of Scarborough , North Yorkshire , England 🏴 🇬🇧
Once you've watched & listened to this, you can never let it go. As fine as music can be, particularly as 3 voices & 1 guitar are singing & playing 2 songs simultaneously. Andy Williams just adds another layer of perfection.
