I've been a fan of Maiden since 82. My son and his friend took me to Nikko MacBrains restaurant which I didn't know existed. He came in and ate and I left Nikko alone. Went outside to have a cig and as he left he stopped and talked to me a hour. I ended the conversation I had to go home. He was very humble and thanked me for being a fan like 30 times. A great down to earth guy. The whole restaurant was covered every inch floor to ceiling with no spaces with gold and platinum records. He even has a drum set there and will live play the drum tracks.
July 3rd, 1985, I got 2 backstage passes with tickets to see Iron Maiden at the San Jose Civic Auditorium. It was their 'World Slavery Tour'. My roommate at the time was related to a woman named Tamar who married Dave Murray, Iron Maiden's lead guitarist, in April in Hawai'i. While at that show, I met Cliff Burton and Kirk Hammett while waiting at the backstage entrance. Nice guys, but I gave them space because it was their night off and I didn't want to be a pest. Once I got backstage, the only member of the band I met was Maiden's bassist Steve Harris. I asked him to pass along my thanks to Dave for the tickets and passes. Steve was a very humble, nice man who was exceptionally polite and apologized that the rest of the band couldn't make an appearance. They had a show in Sacramento the next day and had to take a midnight bus to their next venue. He was only able to hang out for about 10 minutes before boarding the bus himself, but I'll never forget how he took the time to sign some shirts and shake some hands while the bus was ready to leave. And while I'm strolling down memory lane, R.I.P. Paul Di'Anno. Killers was the album that started it all for my friends and I.
Every Iron Maiden song is a story or a history lesson. More please. May I suggest a few of my favorites? Rime Of The Ancient Mariner, Sun And Steel, Wasted Years, Still Life, Die With Your Boots On, Aces High, Quest For Fire, and Revelation
The song is a perfect reflection of what anyone going to their death would feel. The music speeds up like the heartbeat as you come to face your end; until it’s over
Great Reaction! I'm seeing them this Saturday in Brooklyn🤟2 songs that showcase Bruce's incomparable voice . Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (Live at the NEC 1988) & The Talisman (En Vivo!)
My favorite song by Iron Maiden. Clive Burr (R.I.P.) will always be my favorite drummer for Maiden. Nikko might be more technical, but CLive's drive, passion and his beats were just so catchy and groovin'. Lucky to have seen Maiden 7Xs from 1982 through 2014.
I remember when I first heard Hallow by thy name, when I was 15 when I was getting into heavy metal and it really blew my mind, it’s definitely one of their best songs from one of their best albums even though I would say that fear of the dark is my favourite song by Iron Maiden. I had the privilege of seeing them live in 2010 and they played it and it was incredible.
The finger pointing up was meant for the mixer, he couldn't hear himself in the monitor! Total voice control! You know how hard it is to hit the notes when you can't hear yourself!
Glad you loved it. That instrumental part in this turned up loud on headphones is just sublime. Bruce held notes for ridiculous amounts of time back then, matching the studio recordings most times. There's a ton of places to go from here from some fantastic live stuff to album cuts that don't get played so often.
The singer on Iron Maiden's first two albums, Paul Di'anno, passed away the other day. It would be nice to see a reaction of some of his material when he was in the band. Maybe Phantom of the Opera or Remember Tomorrow from Live At The Rainbow
2nd favorite band, Iron Maiden and Rush, were my 1/2. Loved them both!!! Number of the Beast is one of their best. The late Vincent Price does a monolog at the intro. Great!
Aces High - Power slave (Title track) - 2 minutes to midnight - Moonchild - The clairvoyant - Seventh son of a seventh son (Title track) (One of their best songs ever). Start there and see what happens !!!!!!
I saw them for the second time (of many) just a few days before this performance when they played in Bristol in the UK - they were, as always, fantastic 🤘
You hit a couple of the best live track today between this and Pink Floyd, these are amongst the best bands ever and will be listened to until the end of time. Awesome stuff! Enjoy. 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶
Best Metal band. Best IM album. Best Metal song. Best Maiden line up! The amazing Clive Burr. Pure technique. The best metal drummer Rest in Peace Clive
Saw them in Denver last Saturday and the week prior in Phoenix... these guys live are just special and always have been. Hearing Alexander the Great live again, was just amazing.
Ok, here’s one of their very early Head Bangers and one of their most popular songs! Run to the Hills! Classic MAIDEN. There’s the original video or you may be able to find another good version. I can guarantee the original music video for sound quality and it does have live concert footage too. Almost all MAIDEN videos show the band playing live which is appropriate. At one point in their career, they had the world record for most touring dates in one year. Oh, one more thing. Bruce Dickinson, the singer was a world class fencer, a historian and a commercial level pilot who flew the band around on tour in their own jumbo jet! You can find pictures of him in his pilot’s uniform. 😆 ✈️
Me and my identical twin brother who I lost 11-17-2023 went to see them in Concert.. What a Show!!😎🤘😪... You,my dear are Absolutely Beautiful Woman!!!❤
Just saw them in Portland on the 14th, for them being in their 60s and 70, they still put on a great show, Bruce might not have the voice that he used to, but he is still great, thanks for the smile. 🤘UP THE IRONS 🤘
66,000 people at pine knob also known as DTE energy music Theater 2003 I heard all those fans before Maiden took the stage screaming maiden maiden over and over again till it was deafening then these guys started going it was like watching a soccer match on stage with the insane amount of running around and energy
Just bought tickets to see therm in Charlotte November 13!!! It will be my 4th time dating back to the killers tour in 1981 in Pittsburgh! Nice way to bookend my Maiden experience! Great reaction Red!! May I suggest The Trooper as your next song! Be peace!!
Saw these guys in Atlanta in '83(2nd concert, I was 13) Bruce's first tour. Quit Riot opened. Fast forward 41 years and I win tickets from local classic rock station KKFM-Colorado Springs to see em in Denver a week ago Saturday and for guys in mid S60, running around the stage just as you would expect and nothing less, not to mention, Nicko who played his heart out, just a year after stroke(Inspirational!!). I was in la la land.
I saw these guys 18 times from their very first tour on up! I was a manic in the 80’s! Pretty much all I did then was go to concerts. IT WAS A SCENE! Stories for days. The 80’s were incredibly LOUD! Not like today, it was NUTS! EVERYONE was stoned and half drunk. Drinking and smoking were standard operating procedure at all Rock concerts. Thousands of these maniacs in one building! And then the band shows up! 😆👍
OHHHH YAAAA!! The debut album for this singer Bruce (the siren) Dickinson!! I mentioned on another reaction I went to this concert not hearing of them to watch The Scorpions and I have to say they blew the Scorps and I bought their concert shirt!! Sorry Klaus! 😢 Great Job Neighbor! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎🎸🤟🏼
Bruce Dickinson (the lead singer) has his pilots license to fly 757’s (their tour jet) and type rated even the on the 747 which they used a couple years ago on their tour. They called their tour plane ED Force One. After Eddy their main icon in the 80’s
This was the first year Bruce Dickinson was the singer of Iron Maiden... recorded in March 1982 just before the release of their 3rd album 'The number of the beast'... which charted at #1 in the UK and carried Iron Maiden across the world to N. America, Japan & Australia, in addition to the UK and Europe... It was also the last album and tour to feature Clive Burr (drums) who was fired in 1983; he passed away in 2013 after a long battle w/ M.S. Original Iron Maiden vocalist Paul Di'Anno passed away in Oct. 2024... (R.I.P.) He was famous for the 1st 2 Iron Maiden albums before he parted ways w/ the band, burning out from drugs and alcohol as Maiden's touring demands took a toll on him... Steve Harris (bass) was worried because Di'Anno was popular and very distinct on vocals and any major change could have ended Iron Maiden. However, Iron Maiden had 2 huge strokes of luck - 1) vocalist Bruce Dickinson was more than willing to leave his band Samson in 1981 and replace Paul Di'Anno on vocals because he had seen Iron Maiden live and thought he could do better in that band... His high range vocals streamlined Maiden's sound away from punk rock and into classic heavy metal. 2) Maiden secured the services of producer Martin Birch (producer of Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Rainbow, etc.), who was invaluable on their 2nd album 'Killers'... and was able to make the adjustments in the studio to incorporate Bruce Dickinson's vocals into Iron Maiden's music and helped create the iconic album 'The number of the beast' in 1982. 'The number of the beast' was also the first album on which guitarist Adrian Smith contributed music to after joining Iron Maiden for the 2nd album 'Killers'...his songwriting was essential to Maiden's success in the 80's.
Please do more Iron Maiden! I have been a fan of theirs for a long time. Their best songs (imho) tend to be about literature or history, and worth reading up on before listening (ie, read The Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Dune and check out the history of the Crimean War or the Battle of Britain) and it won't spoil anything. I mean they have a song about Alexander the Great and the lyrics are basically lifted from a child's encyclopedia but dang that is a great track... RIP Paul!
Love your reactions on maiden. I am an maiden fan for a long time its one of my favorite bands of al time. Love it you want more songs. Listen to Rime of the Acient Mariner its a song that last 14 minutes and it is great you will love it too. But there are so many good songs of them you will find out, Keep going on with your reactions i love it.
back in the day they used to play in one off our local pub's called the ruskin arms east ham east London see many a good band their and the bridge house canning town
You are so good and analyzing a song that I always lister twice to pick up what you said ❤❤ You are brilliant and beautiful and just an extraordinary woman💯💯💯💯 Red you are a beautiful Big Chicken 🐔🐔🐔🐔 Like you I don't scary movies and stuff either 🙏🙏#redsarmy #beautifulfuncountrygirl #35K #heartofgoldwithmetalinhersoul #bestbadjokes #redheadedbarbiedoll
My favourite album is Seventh son of a seventh son but UNFORTUNATELY there is not a single version of any songs on that record that is good live. So if you do it, please do studio only and from beginning to end ! 🔥🔥🔥🔥⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡🔥🔥
@ … lol, you wouldn’t believe the amount of artwork I’ve done for bands asking me to create a similar style character for their bands. I’ve probably done atleast 5 different metal ghouls in my career
And just think that Bruce, the singer, has a pilots license . Not just a little light aircraft license,oh no a Jumbo Jet license, and files the Iron maiden Boeing 747 around the globe when their on tour.!!! Incredible British metal band, legendary, in fact. Have you noticed yet Red that the tunes are all story based, like some of Rens stuff.?! Rhyme of the ancient mariner, run for the hills. Highly recommend. 666 "the number of the beast" again mind blowing beyond belief.!! There's literally just too much to mention and suggest. After all, they did make a good few album's.!! 😁🇬🇧🏴🇬🇧✌️🤙👍❤️🇺🇲
I was only 20 when that tour was going on beautiful lady my number one favorite redheaded girl on earth by the way when I was 21 1983 I was dating a beautiful redhead girl down in Florida perfect Southern Belle
You definitely need to listen to Queensryche Take Hold of the Flame live in Tokyo 1984. Only metal vocalist I would put above Bruce. 4 octave range and operatically trained. You will not be disappointed.
Loved the reaction. This is my favorite song but only this video, the studio version is much to slow. Plus Bruce Dickinson is my favorite singer. Now i know you already reacted to 'Rime of the Ancient Mariner', but you watched the wrong video, you should always watch older Iron Maiden when Bruce's voice was at it's best. So I think you should do a reaction to this video of 'Rime of the Ancient Mariner' from 1985, you can really hear Bruce's opera like voice in this version. It rates up there with the 'Hallowed Be Thy Name' video you just watched. It is written about the poem of the same name by Samuel Taylor Colleridge back in about 1780-90. Another must watch.
