It dawned on me today that I’ve had my dyson for two years and never cleaned it 🤦🏻♀️ Then I found your video and I thank you.
I’ve had my v8 since 2018! Still going strong. I admit I only clean it like once a year and I have to come back to this video every time 😂 thank you!
I love this vacuum so much and I totally forgot where I placed my manual on how to clean it, so thank you so so so much for this. It is disassembled in front of me right now and it's naaaaaaasty.
*Works great and is lightweight **MyBest.Tools** Comes apart for cleaning/fits back together easily. It replaced my carpet shampooer. Great on hardwood as well.*

Thank you for this video however I spoke to Dyson team and they advised me not to use any detergent when cleaning the filter as it can damage it- we should only be using cold water!
If the smell of the filter is a problem, Zoflora do a antibacterial spray in a can which is a very fine mist and in different scents. That way you aren’t washing it in the detergent
I know this video is over a year old but it helped me with my vacuum when I had an issue after dumping the canister. Thank you I love your content.

Thanks this video helped me clean my Dyson v8 perfectly. However, there is a minor catch you might have missed mentioning. While putting the collector box back into the handle, there is a lever in the handle that needs to be rotated anti-clockwise; otherwise, the collector box's lid will not close after being attached to the handle.

I saw other tutorials to clean my v8 but yet never done it (I have got it for 6 months ago), your video really has boosted my intentions to do it. Love your video as always!
Where all your hair gets caught at the end of the head, you can use a quick unpick that's used for sewing to easily remove the hair. It's much easier than trying to navigate scissors around. This goes for your other rotating head as well!! 😃

Great video! Well done on not getting the contacts wet, I notice many people do and it’s annoying! Just to say you shouldn’t really use the soft ‘fluffy’ head on rugs and carpets, the other head supplied similar to what the V6 came with is designed for carpets and rugs. Spot on using the soft head for floors though.
P.s. could u do an update for Jackson.. I loved your monthly updates when he was younger. It would be good to see his typical day and night routine as well as what he likes playing/ how u entertain him. Thank u xxx

I bought a dyson when they 1st came out (member the grey & yellow thing 🤣😂 showing my age!) I now have a Shark & ive had nothing but problems with it since i got it. Think ill be investing in 1 of these.

Good overview, thank you. With the bin, I would avoid wiping down its inner lining. The residual dust acts as a lubricant for the mechanism.

Oh my gosh! I know so many who think I’m crazy that I clean my cleaning supplies! Absolutely love this. Some vacuums have such weird crevices where you need special flex scrubbers. I’d really love to get one of these for convenience!

I clean mine also quite regularly.
Same concept of washing your bath towels. No matter how "clean" anything stays, dust will always settle in.

Apparently the canister latch was fixed in v10. Call Dyson to replace your canister so you don’t get dirt and dust spilled all over you. Good luck

I am on my second V8 animal and luckily I kept the old one. It comes in handy when I wash the filters as I use the old ones and can allow a lot of time for drying without having my vacuum out of order whilst I wait for it to dry.

The middle purple part also comes apart. So once pulling out the long cylinder part there are three little notches. Push each one with a blunt knife and the actually purple mesh comes away from the frame

Craziest thing that you make it look easy and I cannot for the life of me remove the battery from the main piece. 20 minutes, will not pull apart. you do it so quickly, i've rewound this 100x.

I can't believe someone made an official complaint I just saw the other video, they are just jealous don't let them get to you. My fav thing about you is your positive attitude, you inspire so many people. Thank you for the video!! One question though: do you know how to clean the cap of the head bin, specifically the dirt stuck in the rubber rim? I used an old tooth brush but it's not very effective:(

When cleaning the long filter flip the end off and remove Centre to take out the Gung in the middle which causes the " pulsing problem"
I just cleaned the center blue filter (the long one), which I have not done so far thinking "oh... but it still looks clean" and couldn't believe the amount of dust that accumulated there. This tip alone may be fixing the constant pulsing problem we were having... We'll know tomorrow when everything dries out and we re-assemble. Thanks!

Hi Emily! Great video! I have the v6 and am seriously considering upgrading so it was interesting to see how you need to care for the v8. It looks a bit more fiddly than the v6 I reckon...
Also, randomly I was at a dyson event on Saturday and a dyson rep there told me it is a common mistake to clean the filter the way you did... she said to clean it dry first, tip all the dust out by knocking it upside. Secondly run it under water like you did but up the other way... she said otherwise you get damp dust clogging up the filter and you may as well not have bothered! I thought that was interesting as I always did it the same way as you.
