Thank you for your clear and precise instructions. At 88 years old I learnt how to remove, clean and put back together my Dyson V10 animal. Last weekend after watching your video, I removed my very old Dyson DC8, cleaned washed all the parts except the paper gasket in the Radix and put them together. The suction is like nine years ago when I bought it. Having been a DIY addict all my life it was easy to listen to your instructions and absorb them. If you are not a DIY enthusiast it is advisable to watch and listen but let an expert look after your expensive equipment.
Thank you for the detaild video. I dump the bin in my V11 outside to keep dust out of the house. When I wash the filter, I dry it in front of a small fan and its completely dry in 12 hours. I've discovered a really simple way to thuroughly clean the inside of the vaccum without disassembling it, using an electric leaf blower. Again outside, remove the dust bin and rear filter. Blow off the fitter (you still should wash the filter occasionally) and blow out the dust bin and the red gasket area that seals to the vacuum body. Next blow out the vacuum body. Point the blower directly at the perforated metal on the vacuum body and blow out the dust and alternate with blowing air directly into the end of the body (where the tube and brushes attach) and then direct the blower air into the back of the vacuum where the filter attaches, to blow through the vacuum. Do this several times. It creates an enormous dust cloud, so make sure no nearby windows are open. I also blow out the vacuum metal tube and floor soft roller and rug brush and scrape out any dirt that does not blow off. Its probably a good idea to wash off the roller and floor brush after blowwing off. Compressed air with an air nozzel should work well for this too. Just don't set the pressure crazy high.

You have no idea how much this video helped me when I got my Dyson. Now I deep clean my Dyson V10 about every 6 months. I actually go as far as taking the rubber gaskets off to get all the nasty dirt out and use an air compressor to blow all the dust out of the main part. Thank you so much! If anyone is worried about putting it back together, just take a couple of photo's so you remember where everything goes. :)
When you put the screws back in, to make sure they go back into the spiral cut they made when they were put in originally, and do not cut a new spiral, gently push the screw home, then rotate it anticlockwise (backwards) until you feel, or hear a slight click. Now screw clockwise and the screw should go in very easily as it has found the original groove. This works anywhere that self tapping style screws have been put in plastic holes, and helps ensure that multiple uses do not tear out the hole and in effect, strip the thread out. I was taught this by a NASA engineer, Gordon Plews while discussing disassembling Roomba robot vacuums.

When opening the "main compartment", a plastic bag can be handy to help minimize the "dust cloud"... if you've got a vacuum with a *bag* , or a whole-house vacuum (we just moved to a place with one; love it) , you can use one vacuum to clean the canister, and that will get most of it... you can just slide the cylinder down, without "popping it open" , and put your *other vacuum's* nozzle in the hole... suck out most of it, *then* pop it open to complete. A shop-vac could also be used. I realize *eventually* , you're going to have to empty something nasty (whole house vac, shop vac, etc.) , but this approach helps minimize those "episodes". Thanks for the video! Nice shirt.
An excellent demo as it shows how to replace everything after cleaning it. Every time my vacuum pulses I take my V10 apart and there is usually a pile of fluff coming out of the hole on the cylinder barrel. I was surprised there was none in your vacuum.

Very nice, detailed video - thanks very much. I like to clean mine after each use. Excellent video clear instructions if you find it difficult to strip down the main body if you have a local tire car tyre repair shop you could ask them to use their air pressure to blow it through that will get rid of the majority of the dust you’ll find most people are helpful.
Thank you so much! My filter light came on and I had no idea how to clean everything internally, you have possibly saved me a repair bill! Truly thank you!!!

Dyson are aware of my videos, but wouldn't normally recommend someone like me as i don't work for Dyson. Glad it was helpful for you, thanks for the great feedback
Great video; very clear and easy to follow. Didn't know you could pull the battery. That is a good thing given the decay that occurs in batteries over time. Too bad Dyson doesn't make that a snap off design and so you could have a second battery charging.
You’re explanation is so clear that It gave me the confidence to clean my v10 on my own. However, I think I would not venture into unscrewing as this is way beyond my capabilities. But thanks so much!
Excellent presentation but surprised how much cleaning is required which may challenge the average person. I'm a retired tradesman and question the integrity of the sales pitch over the unsaid cleaning requirements. Thank you for your video.
Thanks man, i managed to fix mine after watching this. Never cleaned the area under the 4 screws, so one day he started to pulsate. After cleaning all is ok.
Thank you so much, excellent video , I was having trouble cleaning it, but after watching this video I have a better understanding how to take care of my new Dyson v10
Great vid, thanks. Just one point: just before putting the 4 screws in place, I found that the wires had got caught in a seal - I could tell this because the top bit didn't fit securely, it rocked a bit. After a few attempts I managed to bend the wires so they stayed where they should as I refitted the grey thing - no more rocking so it was ready to be screwed back together.
EXCELLENT PRESENTATION! Completely solved the problem by opening up the 4 screws and extending the cleaning by brushing out the accumulated dust. Also a great comment about replacing filters that have been washed too many times. Thank you and Happy New Year!!!
I would also recommend getting an extra filter. It helps a lot to have a dry filter as the other one needs 24 hours to dry. Great video. Thorough and easy to follow. Though i did not see you clean the little cavity on the main vaccume when you removed the bin. My dyson is pulsing. But from what i can see from your video , ive done all that was needed to clean it, so its probably a battery issue
Great video, very clear instructions. I panicked a bit when I put the barrel back and it stuck........the red ring was folded. I don't think I'd go as far as you did but my vacuum is much cleaner. Thanks.
Thanks for the video. I successfully managed to clean my vacuum. In total, it took close to an hour as there was so much dirt and dust accumulated around the filters.

Thank you so much for your clear instructions, this is THE ONLY helpful video on UA-cam on how to really deep clean the filter.
Great to hear it was helpful for you, thanks for the feedback 👍
He has such a soft, soothing voice.
0:55 - check how he says twists. Twisstsss... 😍
Kim Davis - lmao bitch stfu with that nasty attitude no alpha man would want you anyway.
Can someone translate into English please ?
This helped me fix my V10 which had stopped working. Thanks very much!
Excellent instructions. Simple, concise, so glad I bought this machine!
Привет! Как работает пылесос после два года использование??
Thank you so much! My filter light came on and I had no idea how to clean everything internally, you have possibly saved me a repair bill! Truly thank you!!!
Glad I could help!
The best instructional video I’ve watched on how to clean anything. Well done. Thank you very much for taking the time to make this video. Clear, concise, well shot, and excellent pace, efficiency, and timing. Reminded me of military training practices. I’ll go thoroughly clean my Dyson now.
Have you sent this video to Dyson?
Dyson are aware of my videos, but wouldn't normally recommend someone like me as i don't work for Dyson.
Glad it was helpful for you, thanks for the great feedback
Everytime I come to clean/service the V10 I always forget and everytime your video comes to my rescue!
Happy to help!
Great video; very clear and easy to follow. Didn't know you could pull the battery. That is a good thing given the decay that occurs in batteries over time. Too bad Dyson doesn't make that a snap off design and so you could have a second battery charging.
One of the best videos I've seen in a long while, fully serviced my V10 with easy, well done.
Great to hear that it was useful for you.
Well done!! This makes my life a whole lot easier! Dyson should have these kinds of instructions with their machines.
Dyson would rather you buy the newer version than tell you how to maintain the one you currently own.

DITTO!
You’re explanation is so clear that It gave me the confidence to clean my v10 on my own. However, I think I would not venture into unscrewing as this is way beyond my capabilities. But thanks so much!
Glad I could help
Excellent presentation but surprised how much cleaning is required which may challenge the average person. I'm a retired tradesman and question the integrity of the sales pitch over the unsaid cleaning requirements. Thank you for your video.
This really is a lot of cleaning and not many people would be too interested in doing this much for the fear of damaging it.
Thanks man, i managed to fix mine after watching this. Never cleaned the area under the 4 screws, so one day he started to pulsate. After cleaning all is ok.
Thats great well done, thanks for the feedback
Thank you so much, excellent video , I was having trouble cleaning it, but after watching this video I have a better understanding how to take care of my new Dyson v10
Great vid, thanks. Just one point: just before putting the 4 screws in place, I found that the wires had got caught in a seal - I could tell this because the top bit didn't fit securely, it rocked a bit. After a few attempts I managed to bend the wires so they stayed where they should as I refitted the grey thing - no more rocking so it was ready to be screwed back together.
Thanks worked perfectly after cleaning. I appreciate the time taken to produce this guide.
truly mean this with my entire soul thank you so much i was getting so frustrated but then i saw this video and finally got my vacuum to work
No problem glad it was useful for you. Thanks for the great feedback
Very comprehensive. Easy to undertand. Thks for your time. Great job!
Excellent straight forward advice, dyson works better when I followed these instructions
This is the ONLY video you need to take care of your V10!! Thank you!
EXCELLENT PRESENTATION! Completely solved the problem by opening up the 4 screws and extending the cleaning by brushing out the accumulated dust. Also a great comment about replacing filters that have been washed too many times. Thank you and Happy New Year!!!
Great to know the video was helpful for you. Thanks for the great feedback and Happy New Year to you too 😁
I would also recommend getting an extra filter.
Thanks.
Very helpful, many thanks. I bought mine two weeks ago; I love it.
Thanks for the video. I successfully managed to clean my vacuum. In total, it took close to an hour as there was so much dirt and dust accumulated around the filters.
Great to hear it was helpful for you, hopefully the suction has improved since the clean.
Great video… especially the inside part of the filter where you take the 4 screws out. The amount of dirt in there after 1 year is unreal 👍👍
Absolutely grateful for your informative guidance to bring about an easy result. Thank you
Thank you. We’ve had a v10 for about 8 months now and I really need to give it a clean. This was very helpful.
Glad it helped!
Yours is the first 'How To' clip I've watched. Really good. No need to look at another. Thanks
Excellent video demonstration. Thanks for the help! Now I need to go back and review it to see what "special" screwdriver is needed
Thank you, so much!
I learned that dust may prevent the canister from opening. I thought I had a defective vac!!!
I'm thinking this is my problem too. I contacted Dyson for help.
Very common. Mine too.
Cathy Diamond , I have the same problem. I am curious what did the supplier say? I was thinking to contact Dyson because of it.
@@ioanaman1390 - Shortly after I wrote, thanking the guy for posting his video, my Dyson completely DIED.
I was NOT able to talk to ANYONE at Dyson (the outgoing message, when I called, blamed Covid). Then I went to Dyson’s website + I was “walked through” some diagnostic tests. I discovered my 2 month old Dyson had a dead battery. When I applied for a new battery, on line, I received a NASTY email saying that the battery died because I did not clean the filter . . . (I DID clean the filter . . .)
I was SO ANGRY, with Dyson blaming ME for the battery dying, I packed up my Dyson + sent it back . . .
Bought an Aposen on Amazon - way cheaper than the OVER RATED Dyson’s.
I am DONE with Dyson, forever!!!
I always come back to this video when I need to clean my V10. Excelent tutorial video. Thank you sir.
Great to know the video is helpful for you ☺️
Excellent presentation, clear and precise
A simple man, simple video, simple explanation. All yotubers should come for a lesson here!
Simple man 😆 thanks for the great feedback 🤗
You have been so helpful in teaching me how to maintain an excellent performance from my Dyson 10 Animal vacuum. I really appreciate it. I love this vacuum cleaner. It is the best I have ever owned. Now I will be able to keep and use it for a very long time thanks to you.
Very good video I had big problems empting the rubbish but after cleaning it works better now. Thank you so much
Thank you . Clear and concise instructions. Well done.

Very clear and concise description of how to clean the Dyson 10. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful for you. Thanks for the feedback
I have watched several of his videos. He is very thorough and I agree with Samuel- a soothing demeanor.
yes Smoooth operator
Best Dyson v10 maintenance video. Thanks !! It is really helpful.
Thank you from Singapore.
Very helpful. Ours is like 6 years old. Never thought to replace battery. Good show. Thx
Thank you for the video it was very helpful. I have found that the slide to empty is a bit stiff so it was good to know that is normal. I will keep this link handy so that I can refer to it when necessary. I am pleased with the vacuum cleaner so far.
