Just received my V8 in the new year. As someone who used a heavy plug in cheap-o vac for many years, this is a game changer. Not having much cordless experience, I can’t really compare to other brands, but I’m extremely happy with it. It has turned an arduous chore into something I actually kind of enjoy! And with three girls in the house, having a brush that doesn’t constantly clog with hair is a big plus. Thanks for the video, appreciate the cleaning tips and, equally important, your always pleasant & relaxing narration 😊. Keep up the good work!
This man is very nice and talk in an easy way to let second language person such as me, Chinese feel very comfortable to understand all the instructions 😊
I bought this today after having a V7 for the last four years, my v7 wasn’t broken, I loved it but it was just heavily used and tatty. Hoping the v8 will live up to expectations. Amazed how much it picked up first use even though I’ve vacuumed once today already!
Cordless Dyson are perfect for people like me who need to vac a lot with kids and a dog. I like to keep on top of it. I don’t think it would last long enough if I didn’t vacuum often! With my v7 I could get my whole house down with battery left! With this one I just did my whole downstairs with 1 bag of power!
I love my Dyson V8. I was a bit disappointed when I realized it wouldn’t stay on on its own. So I researched and found a handy dandy device on Amazon that solved my complaint. It works perfectly!! This video was great! I appreciate you going over cleaning and filters! And your voice is very pleasant! Thank you!!!!
@@lords-electrical I currently have one, super cheap from amazon UK, because more than 2 years ago we had no options in Ireland. I would have made an investment on Dyson, but just because of the trigger thing, it is a deal breaker to me. It pains the fingers to keep on holding it. BTW, great content as always
We’ve got an old V7, which is almost the same, give-or-take a few bits. It’s generally good but the two things I don’t like is the suction isn’t great on the lower setting and the fact there is no option to leave the power switch on continuously, until you turn it off. I’ve no idea why the trigger system is preferred as it can make your hand ache when used for long periods. I echo the advice to get a spare filter. You can pick them up for peanuts online and it’s worth it.
Just started messing with mine and i love it but not crazy about the trigger. Feel u should have an option to lock it on and also it will not work on a high pile carpet
Great Video very easy to understand just pulled the whole thing apart and got it back together Thank you for your help keep up the good work bought mine about two months ago very happy with it no more dragging elec Dyson around the house having to use 5 different power points
Didn’t know there’s a 2022 updated V8. Very chuffed as I bought one 2 days ago. Beautiful machine. Read the comments re: switch vs trigger. I prefer trigger always. So I can stop & start easier. I guess with switch on all the time whilst using, you’d have to keep turning it on & off which will be a huge nuisance to me. Also, as the Dyson man in shop pointed out, people will tend to leave it on whilst moving furniture or cushions or stuff on the floors, so the run time will be very much reduced. Good point as I’ll be guilty. Tx for the video. I’ve subscribed today. An avid Dyson fan.
Very nice tutorial. Fairly succinct and clear.. In the model I just purchased, the smaller hair removal tool for furniture is different. Does not have coin removel slot access but a lever that lets you release brush for cleaning. Mahalo
Great video and simple instructions. Just ordered the Dyson V8 and this video helped with my decision to get one. I currently use a canister vacuum that is several years old. My daughter said we should get a new lighter one and here I am. Hoping this will make my entire family enjoy vacuuming. :-)
I got an idea for a video for you. What about a video on how to clean your fridge. The back of mine is looking quite dusty. Wondering the best ways to clean all the fins and such. Keep up the good work👍
Other than the colour, have dyson changed the spec at all in terms of power or runtime? This model has been around for years now so would be surprised if it’s not been upgraded at all. Thanks 😊
Not really, the design and features are the same but the filter design at the top is slightly different and the colour but apart from that its the same
Thank you for this video. With the advent of all these new cordless stickvacs, I am concerned about the negative effect on the environment when we have to dispose of all these toxic batteries. In your opinion, which manufacturer has the best process for taking back a dead battery from the consumer? And which company has the most robust recycling program for all the batteries they cell?
Nice easy to follow video, thank you. just one question, is it a good idea to turn off the main switch after the vacuum is fully charged, so as not to overcharge. I know some electrical gadgets recommend this.
Great video thanks. I’ve bought a v8 absolute which I love. Previously inherited a v7 animal which I’m giving to someone but needs new drive head. Can you advise where to buy one please and how much they cost. Thank you. Have subscribed.
If I had not found your excellent videos I would have returned it. I was LIKE OMG ITS A SHITE PUZZLE !! No instructions ! I don't want puzzle. I was ready to SEND IT BACK. To saved Dyson a sale. Without instructions you wont keep the sell.
I have bought new V8 machine recently and have already contacted you re it isn’t working. The handle to empty bin isn’t working, and the motor came out of bin. Having watched you tube video it is still impossible putting the machine back together. I have had a young electrician watching the video and he cannot get it to fit back in. Over the years I have had 5 Dysons and been very happy with them and the service. I do not expect a new model to be so fiddly, especially for older people. I would like this machine to be replaced as it is of no use to me. I’ve asked if anyone else has this model who could perhaps show me how to take it apart, even your technician on my first phone call said she found it tricky at first.
This sounds very odd that you say the motor has come out of the bin, have you tried to contact Dyson to see if they can help, as if it is under the 2 year warranty they should be able to sort it out for you.
i have just pulled mine apart after watching video had bit trouble putting it back together but after gently trying drum has to be right out to fit motor back in all good now great little machine@@lords-electrical
Had mine for a year. Now I need to know how to fix it. Dyson's "customer service" is, well, less than helpful. They have a recording of the sound my dyson makes - it revs and then dies. I did everything they said and it is still not working. A lot of money for a vacuum lasting a year!
If you have one of the Absolute models then it will more than likely have the direct drive head which has standard bristles and is ideal for carpets and hard floors, and the soft roller cleaner head which is mainly used for picking up larger particles on hard floors.
We just got this thing, and if you use "max" on the power the thing lasts about 10 minutes. Don't believe that 40 minutes garbage. Considering a return at this point. It might last the 40 minutes on it's regular setting...who knows. Works well...but I have to get more than 10 minutes out of it.
WORST COMPANY DO NOT BUY FROM THEM YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! I cannot return my item because they won't pick it up!!!!! They sent it to the wrong address when details were correct!!!! Customer service is awful!!!!! I have opened a case with Paypal and now have to pay for the return myself!!!! Worst online shopping experience ever!!!! AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!
we have lge home found it does the lot no worries heaps better than my Dyson elec having to drag it around the house and plug it into 5 different power points
The worst vacuum cleaner I have ever owned. Complicated, runs out of power before I have cleaned my whole house even when it's been fully charges. Absolutely not worth the money. Cannot recommend it.

By far, the BEST review on this vacuum that I’ve watched. It arrived in the mail today and I’m a visual learner. Thank you for being so thorough.
Great to know this was useful for you. Thanks for the feedback 😀

Ohhhh what it is??? I just bought this hoover and the fact that it’s not staying on unless I push the button reaaaaaaally bug me!!!!!!!!!!
@noemieleboeuf9361 It's not a Hoover. It's a Dyson. Silly rabbit!
What is this handy device on Amazon?
Most thorough demo. I’ve had mine for awhile and didn’t know about taking it apart like that. Thanks!
Glad the video was helpful for you. Thanks for the feedback
I honestly think it is more convenient and comfortable to have the button to switch on to stay on without holding the trigger.
I agree, and i think as new models come along from Dyson they will start to have a proper switch on there rather than a trigger.

Nice easy to follow video, thank you. just one question, is it a good idea to turn off the main switch after the vacuum is fully charged, so as not to overcharge. I know some electrical gadgets recommend this.
You wouldn't normally need to switch it off as it will stop charging when it has fully charged anyway.
Ok thank you for your prompt reply
Thank you!!! I've got a v8 today!!! I love it!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Great to hear. I am sure you will love it
Excellent presentation. Thank you

The 2 main places will be either Dyson direct or companies like Amazon. Here is a link for one that looks popular on Amazon amzn.to/4fk4k7C

Hey all! I am finding it very difficult to vacuum carpet with this V8. Is there something I am doing wrong??
The main issue is when it is being used on high suction. Hopefully moving it to low suction may help 🙏
Where I could find the Manual v8 ? . Thanks
You can find the manual here www.dyson.co.uk/your-dyson. Input you machine details and it will bring up the instructions.

Can we wash the filter parts ?
Yes you can but just make sure you let them dry properly before you put them back on the vacuum .
Great job

My Dyson v8 came with two main motor heads to vacuum one has a softer bottom why is that I can’t find a video to explain it .
If you have one of the Absolute models then it will more than likely have the direct drive head which has standard bristles and is ideal for carpets and hard floors, and the soft roller cleaner head which is mainly used for picking up larger particles on hard floors.
How would this compare to the v12 or v10?
The V10 has a longer runtime than the V8 at 60 minutes rather than 40 minutes on the V8
V12 has a smaller dust bin, V10 is heavier and louder
Very helpful
We just got this thing, and if you use "max" on the power the thing lasts about 10 minutes. Don't believe that 40 minutes garbage. Considering a return at this point. It might last the 40 minutes on it's regular setting...who knows. Works well...but I have to get more than 10 minutes out of it.

Anything above the Dyson V10 is too heavy for more than 15 minutes of use. Stick with V7 V8 V10
Hair Removal Vanes ftw
Very disappointed with the suction power!
That's a shame to hear 😕
I agree ☝️
Don’t like the trigger finger switch.
A common comment which is why Dyson are starting to make some vacuums with a proper button now
Only ever had one Dyson, I wouldn't have another it wouldn't pick anything up not even a hair,

Found them absolutely useless for a large home. More of a dust buster than a vacuum. Maybe ok for a small apartment.
we have lge home found it does the lot no worries heaps better than my Dyson elec having to drag it around the house and plug it into 5 different power points
The thing last 5 minutes on max😡

The worst vacuum cleaner I have ever owned. Complicated, runs out of power before I have cleaned my whole house even when it's been fully charges. Absolutely not worth the money. Cannot recommend it.
That's a shame to hear that, but appreciate the honest feedback
Avoid this vacuum - it has an unserviceable, unreplaceable battery.
Is this the V8 Slim Stick? 🥹
How can I know or see if I buy the upgraded version of v8? They look the same and want to buy the upgraded one, please help 🥹
The latest version is the V8 - 2023 but there is a newer model coming out which is the V8 advanced 24 so may be worth hanging on for that model
