Thank you for a thorough guide on how to use it too especially emptying the vacuum because I am a Support Worker and one of my clients had this vacuum. I was able to figure out how to get it off the docking station, vacuum using all the attachments but I couldn't work out how to empty it from all the dust and dirt. I asked if she still had instructions, unfortunately she had not kept the instructions. When I see this client tomorrow morning I will be able to empty the vacuum of dust and dirt in the bin for her before taking her on the Shopping and Community Support. Also next week on her Domestic Support I will be a lot more efficient in using her cordless Dyson vacuum throughout her apartment. Much appreciate this information
I use one everyday. Four indoor/outdoor dogs. One sheds like crazy. This vacuum handles all of their fur with ease. A longer battery life would be nice. It lasts a decent amount of time on the lower setting. The higher setting is extremely powerful. Easy maintenance, lightweight. Very maneuverable. Got one for $249 at Lowe's. Highly recommend if you have pets. Your home will always been clean because this vacuum is so convenient to use.

I bought the v7 motorhead during the Black Friday sale at Target and love it but it didn’t come with all of the attachments. Instead of buying the attachments separately I just ordered the v8 from Dyson and will return the v7. My house isn’t huge so I can normally get what I need done before the battery runs out. I highly recommend this especially for people who have pain/medical issues.
We just bought this on Black Friday and ran into a few bugs. So, googled V8 Animal to see if others had same problems and found your video as being the most recent. You certainly clarified some of the issues that we are having and we found it may be more operator error rather than the vacuum. Going to check out some of your approaches tonight when we get home and see if that resolves it. Thank goodness for UA-cam.
My Mom has an Orick Stand up Vac and a Miele Canister ..She just purchased the Dyson V8 Animal Because of this video..She wants something light.. She paid $224.99.. Oh and I just had to go buy the Hardwood floor main attachment for ($105.00) Thanks for doing this
A great review, love your details about care and cleaning. I vacuum till it needs to be recharged...then allow it to cool for 15 mins. then pop it into the dock. I do not recharge when the battery pack is warm. Thanks for your video. :D
I have a V8 origin and and older V6. I love them both so much. Entirely worth the money. I use them all of the time. Truly the easiest way to clean with Dyson. I got the v8 for $249 at Target on sale. Only reason I got a second was because I needed to replace the filter and couldn’t wait for the delivery. I love it that much.

As I was looking a lady came up and grabbed one and then there were only two left, so thought I would get it and I could always return if I don’t want it. This review was good and positive, so I have charged it up this morning and will be vacuuming soon!

I appreciate you taking the time to make such a detailed video. I did have one question though, I have fake hardwood floors. I forget what it’s called, but it’s just the standard flooring that looks like hard wood, but it’s not real. Can I use the regular head on my floors or should I get the additional felt head that you can buy??
Nola Girl Thanks so much 💗 Are your floors scratch resistant, or do they scratch easily? A lot of the fake wood floors are more durable than wood, eliminating the need for the soft head.
Expensive for what it is, needs atleast a 4500-5000 mAh battery, but it's VERY convenient if you don't have wall-to-wall carpeting. There's also a tube attachment you can find on Amazon that makes car cleaning much easier since cars are basically 80% crevices and nooks.
Hows it holding up so far and would you buy it again ? It have any charging issues ? Really sounds like it needs to be redesigned with a 30 minute rapid charge like cordless drills have Dyson.
Always wanted this vacuum. Bought one on sale today at Sam's club. Got it mounted; charged for 3 hours. So disappointed right out of the gate. On high setting, it only lasted about 8-10 minutes. I vacuumed the Living Room Rug (7x9). Proceeded to Master Bedroom... Only vacuumed about 4x4 area before dying. It had a full charge. So very disappointed. Wasn't expecting the 40 minutes as advertised... I figured I would get 20 minutes out of it.. But OMG... not even 10 minutes. Back on the charger. (UPDATE) Just got to the point in the video where you explained the max power lasts about 7 minutes. I will try the lower power and see how that does for me.

Hi Coral - thanks for the fantastic review! I am considering purchasing this vacuum. How does this vacuum do on tile floor with grout lines? How does it handle debris that is pushed up against the baseboards - is it able to grab, or do you need a broom to sweep debris away from the wall/baseboards?
jenpen1517 The majority of our house is tile and it works great on all our floors - no issues with the grout lines. And I don't have any problem at all with picking up dirt against the baseboards.

Thanks for your review ! My Gf and I got this for Xmas from her uncle and I've been using it. I'm also a clean freak especially when I'm home alone lol. When I first unboxed it I couldn't use it because it had to charge ,so I did that and instead used my regular vacuum for this session. The first time I used it I realized it took HOURS for it to completely charge. After it charged I used it on our wood floors and sofas . It must have been 20min after that I realized it already had low battery! I remember the box said it last up to 40min so I was taken aback on how fast it died. I got to hit a little bit of a room for a test run ,but that was it. I charged it again completely and used it the following day. After I vacuumed up my Husky's fur and did a little run in certain places of the apartment ,I again realized that my battery had already gone down one battery life in less than 10 min. I thought maybe I got a messed up one so I decided to come on here and see some reviews . It turns out the battery life just sucks. It works really good when it's charged , but like you said , if you are going to do a deep clean make sure you have one of those big regular vacuums. P.s No relation to the guy below me .lol

As you have long hair, are you having to detangle your hair from the brush bar all the time. I hate that about my v6 a long haired girl and Mum in the house and I’m constantly removing the brush bar to get hair off and out of the bearings

Enrique De León that's tricky. I totally understand your concern - I use command strips all the time to keep from making holes in the wall. I think it might be a little too heavy for them though. It's worth a shot, but I would be careful that the vacuum doesn't get ruined if it falls.

Hello!! Ive got cats too! But every time I clean the sand that falls of the litter box using my vacuum, it does suck the sand in, but when i turn it off the vacuum just spits out all the sands that it sucks in. Is this dyson litter sand friendly??????
I do sometimes have issues with cat litter. The trick that I've found that works well is to hold the trigger for a few seconds after you're done vacuuming up the litter. This seems to get the litter all the way into the dirt collector so it doesn't fall out when you release the trigger.
Amazing review; we have a cat too 😺. Here's my 2 cents on V8: Bought this 2.5 years ago, love the vacuum. However, I've had two issues till date: 1. Hardwood floor attachment (Absolute version) stopped working. Seamless Dyson customer support got it replaced within warranty 2. Battery time reduced to 45 seconds. This time it was out of warranty and Dyson doesn't offer any help. Here's the surprise: they said batteries to run out after 2 years of extensive use. So, expect to spend $129+tax+shipping on battery every 2-3 years

how well would you say it functions for long human hair? do you shed a lot of hair? cause I do and A LOT and I worry my long hairs will make the vacuum get constantly stuck and I that I have to clean it too often :/ that would be annoying! DX

It's called 'Laminate' flooring...
You'd be better off using the soft power head. Why take the chance of scuffing your floor?

2. Battery time reduced to 45 seconds. This time it was out of warranty and Dyson doesn't offer any help. Here's the surprise: they said batteries to run out after 2 years of extensive use. So, expect to spend $129+tax+shipping on battery every 2-3 years

JJ Le Bon Wow $250 is a good deal for this vacuum! I haven't seen the new animal yet, but I haven't even had this one for a year yet, so I'm sure I'll stick with this one for a while.

how does this work on the wood floors?
I've never used it on wood floors. But I've heard it works well with the fluffy head - the regular head can scratch hardwood floors.
Can you hang this vacuum and do you have to buy a different attachment?
The vacuum comes with a dock that is made to be mounted on the wall and it comes with all the mounting hardware.
how well would you say it functions for long human hair? do you shed a lot of hair? cause I do and A LOT and I worry my long hairs will make the vacuum get constantly stuck and I that I have to clean it too often :/ that would be annoying! DX
It does have a Post filter under blue cap on end by back of handle
Check the battery problem reviews. Mine is already short lived after 9 mos.

I’m totally going to buy this sometime within the next few months! I live in a two bed, two bath apartment and corded vacuums just drive me crazy lol plus I just got a cat too so it would be helpful to be able to vacuum up some litter and toilet paper that she decides to tear up 😂
