Korn is considered Nu-Metal, they were the pioneers of it. Slap funk bass lines. Turntable inspired guitars. They took metal to new places. Also, lyrically they were rawer than a lot of metal contemporaries. I've been working through a lot of childhood trauma and Korn helps because Johnathan's been through it too.
Especially a song like Daddy. That is almost impossible to listen to for me, it's less of a song and more of a tattoo on his heart. Oh, my dear, sweet Summer child... you realize I have to make you another list now, right? I used to use this to drown out arguments at home and quite often fell asleep to this or harder shit.
When I discovered Korn, I was kinda shocked and thrilled. I traded CD's with another platoon member in basic training one weekend, and I wanted something "harsh". The other guy said "yeah, they're pretty harsh". Korn absolutely delivered. Smash some turntable skills together with brutal, angry metal; and stir in some 80's and 90's rap presentation, and you end up with some amazing sounds completely unlike anything the world ever produced. The only other band that ever affected me as much was Nirvana. Also, "I write sins not tragedies" is an amazing song, NGL.
As far as Korn goes, "Freak on a Leash" was great and really popular. If you want to wander off beaten path a little, "Did My Time" is my favorite but you may want a kick bag or something to hit close by the first time you hear it.
Oh we on Korn now? Check out the remake they did of the old funk song from Cameo, "Word up". Decent take by a metal band on a classic black song. But the best 2 Korn songs a down south nigga like me ever heard coming up in them late 90s/early 2000s was....No One's There and Trash. Korn didn't do masks they mostly looked like a more goth/part hip-hop Cali type. Main singer had a lot of rap influence. They basically started the nu metal/Linkin Park phase where metal all were rapping and had Djs like bands Limp Bizkit and Incubus. The late '90s - '00s really had a wave making metal with some 'groove'. If you ever wanted to trying something a little harder, but still considered "groove metal", I really recommend Lamb Of God, specifically the Ashes of the Wake album. It checks the 1. Anti-government/war protest album, 2. It goes HARD at every turn. FILLED with guitar solos lol, 3. It's literally Groove Metal by genre. (The title song is almost entirely instrumental. You'll want a lyric sheet for anything else; it's a different vocal style)
Songs like this are on my play list on my cell at work while I'm either bagging ice or refilling the cooler. It helps me focus on what I'm doing & gives me energy to push through & get things done.
Another great video, Korn was my band in the 90’s and 2000’s and their catalogue is amazing, check out these other Korn songs: Shoots and Ladders, Adidas, and Clown
The band was actually afraid of this song... It's mostly because of the weird "disco" drum beat, which was so different from the rest of their catalogue (much heavier metal). Anyways, they were genuinely afraid that this song could be death of them because they thought their hardcore fans would hate it and consider it too poppy for their standards. "Got the life" ended up becoming one of their biggest hits.
If you get a chance for another one of their songs, their first big hit was Blind. Another band you should should check out in the same genre that has some bangers is the Deftones. I would start out with My Own Summer for them.
@RobTV I love Korn, and there's too many songs to suggest! Just to throw a couple favorites out there, Coming Undone and Freak On A Leash are awesome. Also, you could check out the Queen of the Damned soundtrack. Korn's frontman Jonathan Davis wrote (and, I believe, voiced) all of the songs that Lestat (the vampire main character) performs in the movie. Edit: Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, you'd have to watch the movie to hear Davis's renditions, because a cool thing they did for the soundtrack was to get other famous singers (David Draiman of Disturbed, Marilyn Manson, Chester Bennington of Linkin Park) to cover the songs for the released soundtrack CD.
Goodness, you are reliving my teens and 20's with RAGE and now Korn. Hell yeah! These groups and stuff like Disturbed and Rob Zombie was stuff I would listen too before I played hockey. On the car ride to the rink. Talk about being pumped up.
Something to consider. When Follow The Leader came out, we were all getting round in cars with massive subwoofers and trying to shake them tf apart with heavy bass - Korn used 7 string guitars tuned down with specially made amps and had a massive low end growl that you won't necessary get on pc speakers and headphones.
If you like guitar solos you need to react to eruption by Van Halen. It is just Eddie Van Halen on stage doing a guitar solo for 20 minutes during a break during a concert.
Yo Big Hollywood! Good shit to you and Uncle Valle wit the Capcom Cup draw it was mad fun. Can you try listening to Disturbed “the sickness” or “stupify”. You will love them if you like Korn and Slipknot
Korn will bring out that inner FGC in you Rob! Should check out their song 'Falling Away From Me'. Also would love to see you thrown on Ghost (Square Hammer) or A Day to Remember (The Downfall of us All)
I 1,000% played this on my cd Walkman, headphones blaring on the bus & walking the hallways in high-school. Sometimes while tripping on lsd. Yep. The 90's were nuts.

The “ahhh come on!” Killed me lmaooo
A new Korn fan is born every day, lol
Looking forward to the Freak on a Leash reaction video. The music video is my favourite of all-time.
🤣😂🤣😂 you got me crying 😭 over here on this one. Comedy. Song always been heat 🔥
Bruh...that metal...it's starting to get ya. You're starting to really "get it". What an awesome thing to watch. 🤘🤘
i think rap music seem to appeal to the more physical sense where metal seems to appeal to a meditation and bobbing your head is peripheral thing
This ones a Gem. Gonna be fun to watch you run this one man. All around great. groove lyrics, suspension all of it. Easy listening.
Love it! BLIND AT WOODSTOCK 99 NEXT PLEASE!
Loved the reaction. You need to check out Freak on a Leash it’s probably their most iconic song!
I'm here for KoЯn every time❣ Saved my life. Next one I suggest is Freak on a Leash, but don't stop there!!! Had so much fun with this!!!
1997...I was 16yrs old..n introduced to Korn🤘🤘🤘still jamming em🤘🤘🤘🤘
If you get a chance for another one of their songs, their first big hit was Blind. Another band you should should check out in the same genre that has some bangers is the Deftones. I would start out with My Own Summer for them.
@RobTV
I love Korn, and there's too many songs to suggest!
Ice Cube and The Pharcyde are on this Korn album. Great fucking band.
Dude you're my new favorite UA-camr. Period. LOVE korn, rage, beastie boys!💜💜💜
Homie has his head phones on backwards. 🎉 I love your energy and everything about your reactions I’ve watched.
Everyone needs to hear Korn’s MTV Unplugged album. That venue was charmed.
Your reaction was me in junior and high school. Incredible emotion but also sick beat drops and the best grooves
Listening to this stuff in the 90's in HS we just built up the energy till after class. It was a learning process.
I remember watching them live on MTV for Woodstock '99 as a kid.
If you like guitar solos you need to react to eruption by Van Halen. It is just Eddie Van Halen on stage doing a guitar solo for 20 minutes during a break during a concert.
"You can't just play this and sit there chillin!" LMFAO I love these reactions!!! Going through them in chronological order.
I’m old…listened to this in my late teens- really enjoy your reactions 😊
Love these reactions! You all know the next one has to be "Freak on a Leash"!!!
Your reaction was amazing 🤘
First hear corn as a 12 year old and never went back 😍
Just found this song a few months ago and it gets me in my old military kick in doors type mentality 😂
Yo Big Hollywood! Good shit to you and Uncle Valle wit the Capcom Cup draw it was mad fun. Can you try listening to Disturbed “the sickness” or “stupify”. You will love them if you like Korn and Slipknot
Thanks, family and bet! I've heard about Disturbed a few times now. I'll do one of or both of those songs for vids!
Korn will bring out that inner FGC in you Rob!
Should check out their song 'Falling Away From Me'.
Also would love to see you thrown on Ghost (Square Hammer) or A Day to Remember (The Downfall of us All)
Metal is always had a special place in my heart . It's woven in my soul.
I 1,000% played this on my cd Walkman, headphones blaring on the bus & walking the hallways in high-school. Sometimes while tripping on lsd. Yep. The 90's were nuts.
Korn is my favorite band of all time so im glad you liked it 😊😊😊
