Thank you so much for these btw. Watching your Rage videos is kinda like going to Disneyland with my daughter for the first time when she was little. I could hear and see everything through her eyes: full of amazement and wonder! Your videos me back to '91 when I heard them them for the first time and remind me just how good RATM is - I'm down the rabbit hole... I definitely hope you get to see one of their shows when Zack heals up. Mind blowing
One day my brother, mom and I were talking in the kitchen. My brother, who is a guitarist, brought up Tom Morello. My mom was struck by the name and was like “I knew a Tom Morello back in the day”, my brother pulled up a photo of him and she just went “yup, that looks like him!” She excused herself, went down to the basement and came back with an old photo from the 70s of a tiny Tom Morello, with a big ole name tag that said “TOM” in case there was any doubt. He was middle school or early teens. His mom was a teacher at the high school and taught my mom’s African Studies class! Such a funny small world moment I’ll never forget!
… you then proceeded to play rage against the machine for her and she started breaking things and burned the house down. The only thing left standing at the end of it was that photo of Tom… The end
Rage needs people like you. I'm kinda old and it felt like Rage was screaming into the void. People like you give me hope. The message lives! Let's keep it alive! Thanks for the react!
@@kirktown2046 Grew up in Oklahoma and that shit is carved into mine as well. Out there the good ol' boys holding up that systemic oppression was your schoolmates father. Without Rage I likely wouldn't have ever opened my eyes.
It was current events then too, sadly. Systematic racism didn't just appear, it was baked in from the start, another system of control. Try taking an apple pie that's already baked and then remove all the flour. It has to be rebuilt better and made to serve everyone, and the ones who have stolen the levers of power will kill anyone they must to prevent that from happening because of greed and lust for power (and their version of "power" is just another illusion in itself, but they can't see). We have to do better for the next generations to be able to do better, and it starts every day with each one of us choosing to not stand by and watch while our fellow humans are abused and ignored or worse.
"Thats Tom Morrello turning a guitar into a magic wand" literally his entire career. Watching you discover RATM, the joy, the energy. Fuck man. Its beautiful.
"Do you know how good you gotta be to live up to a name like 'Rage Against the Machine'?!" is the best damned quote about this band I've ever heard!!! 💯😎
Shout-out to Tim Commerford. 70% of the heaviness of the riff comes from the raw sound and impeccable timing of the bass. Bass players don’t usually get the credit they deserve, but Tim really carries the band. I saw them live and they blew my mind!
Tom and Zach get most of the credit, but their bassist (Tim Commerford) and drummer (Brad Wilk) are amazing as well. Those bass lines just growl and the drums are always on point.
Legend has it... When they first played Lollapalooza, the other bands assumed they had a DJ until they saw & heard Tom Morello. The other bands were in awe.
Saw them at Lallapalooza & had never seen in Tom play. Definitely didn’t realize Morello was making that sound with guitar. Absolute madness when they played!
I was already a RATM fan (and playing killing in the name of on the radio and had already recieved a cease and decist for playing a radio edit...yet the record label also asked me for a copy of it to send out to other stations. lol...91/92 radio edits were not as common...we had to make our own) when they opened lollapalooza and I was at the socal show. I was like why are they opening? FIRST NOTE BOOOOOM! whole crowd jumping up and down till the last note. How do you follow that up? Front 242, Primus, Dinosaur Jr, Alice in Chains....Fishbone, Arrested Development, and even Tool. It was like being at a jazz concert with all those bands after RATM blew the minds of everyone as the opening act.
The only color that's ever mattered is green. and they got it and we don't. Because green is power. They LOVE to turn skin color against skin color, because the nanosecond the people realize its us vs them... we're dusting off the fucking guillotine.
First drum hit came in and bro already had the stank face lmao Edit: "Bulls on parade" is old school slang for riot police/police officers in the area.
That's what I understand, bulls on parade, it's about the cops pulling up, on your family, the pocket full of shotgun shells is the threat of violence.
@@michaelknudsen782 And of course, you can also read it in the other direction but to the same tone. The fascists love no rallying cry more than the Family, and they will always do so with the threat of violence close to hand.
The great thing about Rage Against The Machine is that they're still relevant. The sad thing about Rage Against The Machine is that they're still relevant.
@@SteveHupe rage against machine is still a good sounding band, but they quit raging against the machine a long time ago. And starting raging on behalf of the machine. When they came out they were against Clinton and Bush and then when Obama got in the CIA wet dream come true, they raged on behalf of his entire presidency, even though he was the worst American President we ever had to that point in time
@@Bozemanjustin Obama sucked, but when you say he’s the worst after W before and trump after you obviously drinking another brand of kool aid. Rage wasn’t together and was pretty silent for most of Obama, as well morello did call him out and called him a war criminal. Pretty on brand. And their latest tour they donated money from each show to local activist groups. They ain’t perfect, but who the eff is? They stayed hella consistent for 30 years and that’s pretty dope
I remember when this album was new. I was like 12 years old when Rage really took off. All their CDs had the Content Warning stickers on them for the lyrics so my mom of course wouldn't let us get them. So when I finally got my hands on a copy and heard it, it was amplified because it was forbidden. I was like, "what else are these people hiding from me?!?"
“That’s Tom Morello turning the guitar into a magic wand” This had me dying. You captured my energy when this first came out. We listened to it over one over and then dissected the lyrics.
right.. That's why these reactions are so fun to watch. Especially because a lot of these reaction channels are from a generation who normally shit on our music. I can't imagine they go back to the new shit with the same respect they had for it. Most of it is a joke. a cash grab.
Agree. It makes me so proud to be part of the same generation as them. I saw them "perform" at lollapalooza in Philly. They stood naked with duck tape over their mouths in protest. It was an experience, but 18 year old me was kind of annoyed and too young to appreciate how very 'rage' that was, haha.
It's cool as hell as a middle age white guy to see a young black dude have the same reaction to this song as I had when i first listened to it. Love it.
@@stephanerivest3166 I appreciate your perspective. But you are just plain wrong. Not only is system better in almost every aspect of music theory (valid argument Tom being the goat guitarist tho) however, california bros with a chip on their shoulders will never approach the depths of eastern European tragedy and it tells in the music
DOWN RODEO. You GOTTA. Not only is it an amazing song musically, but it's an incredible protest song. It was written after the Rodney King riots in LA, and when I saw people taking to the streets for George Floyd all I could hear was those lyrics. You'll love it!! (And I am LOVING seeing a true fan find this music. It's so exciting 😁)
"This music might give you a dose but you'll never come close to the rage built up inside of me" - Zach IS the rage. It's righteous and incandescent and now you've got a little piece of it too.
Just subbed because of your reaction at 6:33. “Ahhhhhh, what the fck is that sound!!” That’s exactly how us old heads reacted in the 90s. Digging your charisma. Keep it coming. ✌🏼
@@rancidcrawfishhe literally pulled up the lyrics you numbnuts. Why do you think there’s a bright white light coming from the bottom right? He opened a website that’s a white page with lyrics. Ever heard of common sense?
Fuck man, you just appeared out of nowhere and became my favorite “reaction channel” overnight. It’s awesome seeing you feel the exact same way about these songs I did when I first heard them 20+ years ago.
Gotta admit, it is nice to see someone else get just as excited and smile through this song as much as I did my first time hearing it. Catching some of the lyrics, and knowing I'm going to have to go back and literally study them, but allowing all that great music just flow through in the meantime. I've never seen someone else embody how I felt about hearing this song for the first time before. My friends would crack up because I smiled while listening to RATM... how friggin awesome is it to be able to hear such great musicianship, expressive freedom, and be educated all at the same time?
I heard this in middle school just over 20 years ago and I had the same exact reaction. In Highschool i used to drive around town with my brother and we would roll down the windows in the car and play Rage full blast. Screaming “f**k you I won’t do what they tell me,” at people walking on the sidewalks. 😂
I’m 27 so I’d imagine we’re about the same age. I remember being at a protest after the killing of Ahmaud Arbery where somebody was playing this off a speaker. Immediately I was like “yoooooo what is this?!” and ever since RATM has been that band for me. They just tap into a certain feeling that’s hard to express especially as a young black dude growing up in this world. They are the truth
Can't express how fucking stoked I am to see younger kids digging this. I was 18 when the album came out and we all talk about the band now. This is fucking wild.
Love the way you feeling this shit and the enthusiasm and passion you put into your review. I'm a mid-50s age black man, lifelong hip hop head, who was intro'd to RATM in the early 90s by some white cats I knew back then. I've been preaching about their greatness ever since. MFs was wayyyyy ahead of their time, talking about police violence, white nationalism, homelessness, human trafficking, racial injustice, etc. So happy they finally got inducted into the Rock and Roll HOF.
Im around your same age (except I’m a white dude) I love his passion for music and in my opinion the music around the 90’s was some of the greatest of all time! It’s nice to see some of the younger generations appreciating and enjoying some of the great music we had around that time.
22years, they did Renegades, their FU to the record company they owed an album too. All covers. They do an epic duo with Cypress on the hidden track (14) How I could just kill a man

I am in my late 40's and still love RATM! So many of my peers now "Tolerate the Machine" and it makes me sad. Seeing a young man discover RATM gives me hope for the futre that the RAGE lives on.
Bro I'm 40. I've been listening to RATM since my freshman year of high school and I can tell you that no other band has influenced my attitudes and my character and my views and understanding of the Machine in which we all live as much as they have. They were among the first ones to wake up from the Matrix and tried to attract people through incredible music to hear the message and wake up themselves. And I can tell you THAT IS THE RIGHT WAY 2 TO REACT TO RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE SONGS
Reel it back in bro. There is no Matrix, but they woke you up to social injustice. I already had known about it though being where I was from. None of us are raised to trust the gov or cops. We knew they would fuck you over.
Not my almost-40-year-old self bouncing around my living room scream-singing along to this at 9pm on a Wednesday. It infuriates me that their message is still so painfully relevant today - classism is as old as civilization - but I love seeing you discover and appreciate them all this time later. Your energy is contagious.
Rob, you've GOT to do Down Rodeo by Rage. It has the hardest hitting first line I've ever heard in a song. I've heard it since it came out and I'm STILL not ready for it to be the first line.
Hey these guys are absolutely right, this song will have you yelling. That first line will fuck you up, it might be the coldest shit they've done. Down Rodeo is a fucking ANTHEM.
Mega-subbed!!! The concept of Bulls on Parade I always felt had a double meaning. The bulls of wall street, a “bill” market, the elite showing off their power. Or the bulls stampeding and trampling everyone under them. “They rally around the family, with a pocket full of shells (spent bullets). “ How certain political groups will claim that they are protecting the sanctity of family while their real purpose is the promotion of weapons and death (but “those who died are justified” right?) It’s all about the oppressed and marginalized, how power and money is corrupting. While most black folks don’t listen to this music yet, it was written about Black Americans, to a white audience but I think the hope was always that black youth would hear it and get justifiably angry at the realities they face by simply existing. It’s about the poor white, the Latinos, the black and brown people in this country. Politics will seek to divide you and tell you that a white rich person is just like a poor white person and that the division is race not wealth, but the reality is that “poor” and “rich” are the biggest defining factor in how your government treats you and what opportunities you have at your disposal. The color of your skin or your heritage may increase the likelihood of you being in that situation by various means, but once you’re there that puts you way behind the rest of the starting line.
Exactly what Fred Hampton and other civil rights heroes were talking about in the 60s and 70s before the government and cops murdered them in cold blood or threw them in prison on bullshit false charges. Rich white Americans get terrified when the working class unites across racial lines and works together. "That's why they call it the American Dream, because you have to be asleep to believe it."
Class is the real war. Race, gender, sexuality, religion, culture. Those things are real, but as conflicts they are a distraction. Divide and conquer. That's what it is. Poor and working people of every race, gender, religion and sexuality have more in common with each other than they do with the people running the world. They know that, but the last thing they want is for us to know it. As long as we're at each other's throats, they can get away with anything. If we ever came together, they wouldn't be calling the shots anymore. Of course it's complicated, but this is a UA-cam comment. You gotta read books to get the full picture.
My prayer tonight is that one day I will enjoy something, anything even half as much as you enjoyed this song. One of my favorite bands, I'm glad you enjoy them.
As others have said, Down Rodeo (row-day-oh) is another banger. Wake Up, Know Your Enemy, pretty much the whole debut album is fire. Zach’s got two or three features with RTJ, too. Good stuff. It’s a different vibe, but looking forward to some Beastie Boys on the channel, too.
RATM is funk, is hip-hop, is hardcore rock. These dudes are unique and forever relevant. Loving the content and the energie you give back in the reactions, keep em' coming!
Honestly, man… your reactions track closely with the reasons for this band’s success. You are genuine, and honest. I imagine it would be hard to fake that. Seeing young dudes react to this music for the first time- the same way we did- is an amazing thing. Keep the fire lit. 👍🏼
I love the growing love affair you’ve been cultivating with Rage Against the Machine ❤ I’m in my early 40s and this whole-ass channel makes my punk heart sing
Zack's voice is barely contained, tightly wound fury. The intensity of his vocals and the delivery is unbelievable and that's before you even get to the still-relevant lyrics he's spitting. Also, the rhythm section of Rage is incredible. Brad Wilk on drums and Tim Commerford on bass absolutely kill it. And Tom is awesome too. I saw them live last summer and they absolutely destroyed. Check out "Down Rodeo" or any of their live performances. They'll blow your mind.
It’s fun that UA-cam recommended all your RATM videos in order. From “I don’t know if this’ll be any good” to knowing all the members of the band and digging into the lyrics, this was the best transition to watch.
The size of the smile on my face as you react is enormous!! Like objectively I’m a random middle aged white lady doing Christmas crafts at my table, but I’m also rocking out and singing along. Watching you react is like listening to it myself for the first time again which is amazing!
I saw them in ‘93 and it was SO amazing! The were the first band to play on the Lalapalooza tour that year (or at least at the show I saw). 3:00 in the afternoon, outdoors in Nashville in July- at least 95 degrees out and they had that whole place MOVING! Never seen anything quite like it again.
Don't sleep on the rhythm section, not just on what they do but what they don't do. Brad and Tim are so tight and in sync, with specific moments of silence brings even more emotion and fire
It’s great to see someone react for himself and not the people watching. No guard, no pretense, no act, just you and the music. Refreshingly Raw and honest, thanks !
This song holds a special spot in my heart for me. I was a 12 year old Brown kid in LA when this album came out. My older sister was always introducing me to rock and metal bands (may she RIP I miss you sis) and she took me to concerts as a kid. So she bought the CASSETTE for, brought it home, and told me I had to listen to it. She left my room and bro…I’m surprised I didn’t fuck that tape up because for the life of me I COULD NOT stop rewinding and listening to this song over and over and over again. It made SUCH a big impact on me. I was TWELVE bro. There never will be another band like RATM.
Same! I was a lot younger but my sister introduced me to them and System, it influenced me so much. I reheard the bands in college and it affected my political ideals. I started protesting, marching for things I believed in and got trampled by politics, police and people who believed in oppression. I'll never forget being spit on and stomped in a protest and thinking, this is is the machine keeping me back while I raged. I marched at Prop 8 and I marched for George Floyd. Always stand against oppression of any kind. Complacency is the enemy of the free.
All four of these dudes are perfect for RAGE! They live up to the name. Truthfully, i wish they would come back with more rage. We need it in these times.
They have classic after classic. It's so cool seeing more people discover them. The groove they have is so deep. Tom has such simple but catchy riffs. It really makes you want to ride around just causing mayhem.
I love seeing people experience these things for the first time. This shit changed my life as a teen and helped me process bullsh*t being perpetrated. It used to be that people, regardless of ethnicity, used music to tell people things were bad.
I saw them live, and I'd never seen a person look like he would explode like a bomb, but Zach seemed like he was doing his best his entire performance to completely explode. Honestly, it was staggering to witness.
Best live show I've ever seen. The energy in that stadium was FIRE. Zac had a broken foot at the time, but couldn't contain himself and started jumping around. I felt high for days after that shit.
10 seconds into the lyrics, I want to see your face, "Whoah! What did I just hear?!?" Yes, they're spitting hard truths in that song. Then plead the fifth, cause you can't plead the first? Omfg. So much hard truth in that banger. Highly recommended.
As a white kid from Idaho, ive heard this song 1000+ times and it STILL gives me goosebumps. That said, your reaction is so genuine and I loved to watch it. Subscribed. Keep it up bro!
This song still to this day goes harder than probably anything else I've ever heard. I was in middle school when I first discovered rage and the fire has never died
I used to rage with them in my youth, but who would have known that these many years later... I would feel the rage more than ever🤯😠😡🤬 More relevant today than ever!! Thanks for the honest reaction!!!!!
Your reactions are the most inspiring of any reaction video I've seen on this platform. Your passionate appreciation for the quality of music you're hearing is contagious and helping me to rediscover music from my youth. So thank you.
I have not gotten this much enjoyment out of watching someone love this shit like I do, you blow the other first time hearing channels completely out of the water!!! I swear this is THE ONLY ONE that I'm watching from now on, you fucking rock dude!!!
Brad Wilk on the Drums. Tim Commerford on the Bass. And you already know Tom and Zach. Hell yeah man!! They are absolute fire, and perfection!! Up next: - Down Rodeo - Wake Up - Sleep Now In The Fire You ain’t ready.
Same here, saw them on 8/22 in NYC. Had tickets to see them back in 2001 but the show got cancelled and they broke up a month later. Never thought I’d get the opportunity again.
Pretty much every song on their 3 main albums hits this damn hard. They all are bangers, and they all have something to say. Zach is always spitting fire, and the band is always beating down the walls. Brad Wilks is on drums and is always silly solid in everything he does. Tim Commerford is there every step of the way slaying on bass, too! All four of them made a cultural phenomenon that unfortunately had their message lost in how great they rocked.
I got to see them play their last show in Chicago in like 2000. The entire All State arena was jumping up and down for the full 2hr show, it was unreal the energy in the stadium. What was more impressive was Zack's ability to scream the whole time!
@@HollywoodRobTV rage was like that. Bars soooooo deep you really gotta pay attention. You gotta try Down Rodeo next. I promise you its a banger and so on point politically that its nearly impossible to ignore.

One of my favorite things on UA-cam is watching people discover Rage for the first time! Your reactions and energy are so close to what I experienced back in the day. I was too young for their first couple albums, but when I was introduced to them, my world changed. It’d be a long video, but it’d be awesome to see you react to a full album with lyrics. I’m sure you’d have good commentary even on the songs you’ve already reacted to. Please rage hard enough the camera unfocuses when you’re feeling it, that was awesome and very fitting 😂

Love these RATM reaction vids. You’re right about Zach. Owned the stage and absolutely killed even when he had to sit the whole show because of a fucked up ankle.
i absolutely love seeing people's eyes opened with RATM, especially when the songs touch a real part of their life. RATM go hard. they once did a show on BBC, and were told they weren't allowed to say "F**K you i won't do what you tell me" in killing live, and they did that shit anyways. can't tell a MF what to do
@@ericcowsill7821 It literally proved in that moment how out of touch with reality the BBC were, completely missing the point of what RATM stood for BY SAYING "please don't say fuck you" it's literally so low IQ to the point that it seems unconscious, like they were robots without a thought process just programmed to treat every guest a certain same way
You'll be happy to hear that literally every song by Rage is a complete banger. They are the only band to have an all-hit song library, IMO. React to "Down Rodeo".
There are many bands with that distinction. Obviously it is subjective, but, there a few bands I can think of that their whole catalogue is must listen. 🍻

All of us in the 90s in our teenage years feeling the rage. RATM was therapeutic for that teenage angst. Also they obviously had very powerful messages in their lyrics. I bet their concerts were INSANE!
Got to see RATM three days after they debuted this song at the Big Day Out Festival in Australia. Check out the official video, it's full live footage from the festival. They went so damn hard! At the end, through the wave of disorientated crowd, my kid brother emerged - no shirt, and one shoe missing, gave me the biggest hug, and screamed "best gig ever!" And I totally agreed
Everyone says Killing is their fave, to me this song is the best representation of them because everyone, from the sick bass line to the flow, the guitar and drums, they all shine together seamlessly. Down Rodeo and their cover of Ghost of Tom Joad a deep track, should be on your list, even if you don’t make videos for them
man, I have loved this band since I was a kid, but you got to reignite my passion even stronger than before. My man, you sure know how to react to a good song
Stumbled on this reaction, and your excitement reminds me of my first time hearing them in the early 90’s. Great to see the new generation getting a taste of rock royalty
It's pretty scary how prophetic the lyrics were, hey? WAY ahead of their time. I've been in love with this band for 30 years. Great reactions, your enthusiasm is infectious.
They were NOT ahead of their time…. most people didn’t know what they were singing about because media wasn’t showing you and you didn’t know there were issues until social media showed you….
Well, America is fucking conservative to the core, even their most liberal sons are conservative in their deepest depth. Conservative means no change, keeping the status quo, and America has been like this for more than a century (there's a reason the rest of the world hates America).
Bro I’ve been watching this series and I really appreciate when you get into the lyrics. I’m in my mid thirties now and so much is still relevant and a lot of rock bands have a social message that people need to hear. The boomers are on their way out and it gives me hope seeing the young ones also feeling the rage.
Just watched this and your first listen of "Killing in the Name." One like and sub isn't enough. Your enthusiasm is great and it's really enjoyable to see these songs still get people's attention.
“Rally round tha family with a pocket full of shells” is a brilliant reference to the European settlers who arrived on US soils and quickly realized that the Native people they encountered used wampum as their form of currency. Wampum is necklaces or strands of beads created out of seashells and were highly valued. The settlers took advantage of this fact and Native people by presenting them with countless “shells” to essentially rob them of their goods, natural resources and labor.
Rage Against the Machine was passion from the heart released through music. Raw & to the point. Most people today fear getting that real. Oh! And that sound was him turning the guitar into a turntable scratch sound. Brilliance!
Glad you discovered Rage. Pick scrapping across the tiny grooves on a guitar string with a little waah pedal and you're playing the scratching guitar sound. Morelo is one of the legends in my world.🤘
What Tom does to make that sound is that he pulls out the audio jack from his guitar while it's still live and runs it along his guitar strings like a guitar pick, creating his iconic sound. Check out "Guerrilla Radio" and "Renegades of Funk" along with Prophets of Rage, a "supergroup" featuring Rage, Audioslave, and members of Public Enemy and Cypress Hill
Actually the 'DJ scratch' sound he made on this song was by using the toggle switch and sliding his palms on the strings. The one you mentioned using the audio jack was a different song I believe, because I've seen it before too.
I hope Rage gets a revival in popularity because I feel like musically, we need this to come back for your generation to absorb it. I'm loving your reactions!
Darkness (of greed), Calm Like a Bomb, Maria, The Ghost of Tom Joad, Mic Check, Revolver, Roll Right, Born of a Broken Man, Guerilla Radio... Man the list of absolute bangers from these guys goes on and on. Please do them all!

"They don't gotta burn the books, they just remove 'em." is when lyrics go from fiction to current events.
“Weapons not food, not homes, not shoes, not need just feed the war cannibal animal” always hit hard for me too
"History never repeats itself, but it does often rhyme." - Mark Twain (just to throw a literary reference at a book-burning reference).
Welcome to Florida.
Or ban your voice from Twitter, Facebook or UA-cam. It’s basically the same thing but the left is ok with it so long as it’s done to opposition.
"Thats Tom Morrello turning a guitar into a magic wand" literally his entire career.
Watching you discover RATM, the joy, the energy. Fuck man. Its beautiful.
It really is the perfect way to describe it. 😂 Fucking nailed it
Gets me so hype to listen to a song i've heard a million times, ratm for fucking life
It’s fucking pure joy.
"What the fuck is that sound?!" I laughed so hard at this! His joy is pure and contagious!
For real, love this dudes energy
"Do you know how good you gotta be to live up to a name like 'Rage Against the Machine'?!" is the best damned quote about this band I've ever heard!!! 💯😎
Fuckn photocopiers 😂
agreed😂😂😂😂!!!
They definitely don't undersell the hype!!🤘🏼
Shout-out to Tim Commerford. 70% of the heaviness of the riff comes from the raw sound and impeccable timing of the bass. Bass players don’t usually get the credit they deserve, but Tim really carries the band. I saw them live and they blew my mind!
Absolutely 💯
Exactly, that heavy groove he’s bumping his head to is coming from Commerford and his Musicman bass
I've seen Audioslave live, and Timmy C. absolutely plays hard and heavy!
I was hoping someone mentioned Tim and his bass.
@@PicassoSenseithis album used a jazz bass
Tom and Zach get most of the credit, but their bassist (Tim Commerford) and drummer (Brad Wilk) are amazing as well. Those bass lines just growl and the drums are always on point.
Timmy C is my favorite bassist.
YES!
Omg I couldn’t agree more! Brad is a powerhouse!!!
Tim is a beast. His bass tone on Renegades of Funk is just naaaasty especially on I'm Housin'. Soooo dirty.
If you are in the know about bass players.. you know Commerford. My God, he is in the top ten ever in my book. Just try keeping up with that.
I still remember telling my friend , "Dude, no, that's a fucking guitar!"
@@ftvalentine7475 Yeah i've seen a few react channels who were gobsmacked when people realised he was making those sounds with a guitar.

“ These motherfuckers are a cheat code!” Man, I about fell out of my chair with that one… That’s brilliant!
40 year old Rage fan. Listen and trust. They are a band for the people. Poor isn’t a color.
It’s always been us against them. They have everything and we have nothing to lose
That part!
The only color that's ever mattered is green. and they got it and we don't. Because green is power.
They LOVE to turn skin color against skin color, because the nanosecond the people realize its us vs them... we're dusting off the fucking guillotine.
"These motherfuckers are a cheat code" is my new favorite phrase.
Agree. And WTF is that sound? Lol
Came to say this!
Almost fell out of my seat when Rob said that. I love his reactions.
First drum hit came in and bro already had the stank face lmao
Edit: "Bulls on parade" is old school slang for riot police/police officers in the area.
Can confirm, bulls was slang for the filth. At least here in Western Sydney. But i think we picked it up from Yank cop shows.
That's what I understand, bulls on parade, it's about the cops pulling up, on your family, the pocket full of shotgun shells is the threat of violence.
Just think of fred hampton and where he was murdered n by who
@@michaelknudsen782 And of course, you can also read it in the other direction but to the same tone. The fascists love no rallying cry more than the Family, and they will always do so with the threat of violence close to hand.
They never lose relevance, after 30 feckin years, they're still on point.
I loved them then, and love them now
The great thing about Rage Against The Machine is that they're still relevant. The sad thing about Rage Against The Machine is that they're still relevant.
You misspelled the word fucking, you're talking about rage against the machine you don't hold back
@@SteveHupe rage against machine is still a good sounding band, but they quit raging against the machine a long time ago.
Them explicit content warnings were the absolute worst thing the censors could have done lmao
“That’s Tom Morello turning the guitar into a magic wand”
This had me dying. You captured my energy when this first came out. We listened to it over one over and then dissected the lyrics.
ayy yo, dead hahah
Yea this dude is hilarious lol
That captured that guitar sound better than I've ever heard. It is a fucking magic wand.
Homie said, What the Fuck is that sound 😂🤣
Best comment ever.
The thing I love about these Rage reactions is “WE ALL FELT THAT WAY” when this was fresh out. Awesome to get to feel that again.
Yesss!! These are the songs that are so good you wish you could hear them for the first time all over again
Hearing the whole uncensored track on live radio in the UK is a moment that will always stay with me! It was a rebirth!
right.. That's why these reactions are so fun to watch.
Especially because a lot of these reaction channels are from a generation who normally shit on our music.
I can't imagine they go back to the new shit with the same respect they had for it. Most of it is a joke. a cash grab.
Yess!! Exactly!
I always liked this quote:
"The 90s made the 60s sound like the 50s." Rage was one of the core reasons. Rock on, man!
This is so accurate haha
That is so true
It's cool as hell as a middle age white guy to see a young black dude have the same reaction to this song as I had when i first listened to it. Love it.
😂😂😂 it's awesome isn't it. I'm almost 50yo chick and his rocking out is a joy.
Rage Against the Machine is the greatest band of all time. Truly the GOATS.
Lars Ulrich says RATM had the greatest 3 album stretch of any band.
Bangers for sure. But system of a down takes gold
Yes!
@@Mr.Incognito11 not even close, I love system but hey do not hold candle to the brilliance that is RATM

💯 I love it cuz growing up me and my metal homies was into hip hop too but none of the black homies would EVER bump the white boy shit, lol!
100%
DOWN RODEO.
I want to see this one!
Down Rodeo gets me so fuckin pumped! I'd love to see this one!!!
Truth.
DOWN RODEO
Ditto. Lyrics so strong even 90s radio wouldn’t touch it.
"This music might give you a dose but you'll never come close to the rage built up inside of me" - Zach IS the rage. It's righteous and incandescent and now you've got a little piece of it too.
Eloquent
Just subbed because of your reaction at 6:33. “Ahhhhhh, what the fck is that sound!!” That’s exactly how us old heads reacted in the 90s. Digging your charisma. Keep it coming. ✌🏼

Thanks, fam! I'm gonna do other types of content too. I didn't really expect this stuff to spread so quickly at all lol
@@HollywoodRobTV yeah for sure, your reaction videos are excellent - some reaction UA-camrs just don’t get their Lyrics.

Bulls on Parade is code for the cops in their riot gear…very appropriate for any BLM protest going on.
Rage don’t fuck around👏🏻
Sad that this came out after Rodney King & society still on the same racist bullshit.
Can't express how fucking stoked I am to see younger kids digging this. I was 18 when the album came out and we all talk about the band now. This is fucking wild.
I'm in my mid thirties and RATM spoke to me in my adolescence, homie. I knew they were telling the truth 25 yrs ago
that moment when you unpack one of the most powerful songs of all time. these lyrics are a work of art.

I am in my late 40's and still love RATM! So many of my peers now "Tolerate the Machine" and it makes me sad. Seeing a young man discover RATM gives me hope for the futre that the RAGE lives on.
Hope, but at the same time despair. I was a teenager when they raged about this and nothing has changed! Fuck!
Crass did it for me, but love ratm
Not my almost-40-year-old self bouncing around my living room scream-singing along to this at 9pm on a Wednesday. It infuriates me that their message is still so painfully relevant today - classism is as old as civilization - but I love seeing you discover and appreciate them all this time later. Your energy is contagious.
OMG- you killed me with the line "Morello turning that guitar into a magic wand" So true!!
Rob, you've GOT to do Down Rodeo by Rage. It has the hardest hitting first line I've ever heard in a song. I've heard it since it came out and I'm STILL not ready for it to be the first line.
THIS ONE you gotta do it ASAP
This. 100%
It’s soo good to see someone genuinely react and get it. Really get it.
Down Rodeo has the hardest lyrics I’ve ever heard
Def do Down Rodeo.
How certain political groups will claim that they are protecting the sanctity of family while their real purpose is the promotion of weapons and death (but “those who died are justified” right?)
It’s all about the oppressed and marginalized, how power and money is corrupting.
Ex-fkin-xactly!
Even the stuff off renegades is good
Beastie boys sabotage!!!
Yes. Everything about this. Yes.
Wake up is THEE greatest rage song, that song is the one that really woke me up, which is ironic but it did
RATM is funk, is hip-hop, is hardcore rock. These dudes are unique and forever relevant.

Honestly, man… your reactions track closely with the reasons for this band’s success. You are genuine, and honest. I imagine it would be hard to fake that.

The way he makes that guitar sound like a turntable is in-fucking-sane
I love the growing love affair you’ve been cultivating with Rage Against the Machine ❤ I’m in my early 40s and this whole-ass channel
makes my punk heart sing
I know right!?
Did we think it would get to be like this?
Idk, it's so inspirational, all over again!
This is poetry to my ears. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
That rhythm section is terribly under appreciated...if those two weren't so in the pocket tight...Tom & Zachs ,out of the box style could not shine!
Nobody is better than them. Saw them live in 1991. It was amazing. Glad a new generation is seeing the best of GenX.
I'm a Millennial and was *just" thinking about how many dope GenX musicians there are
Don't sleep on the rhythm section, not just on what they do but what they don't do.
It's beautiful watching someone discover their new favorite band. Your energy and enthusiasm are so great. You've earned my subscribe.
They have classic after classic. It's so cool seeing more people discover them. The groove they have is so deep. Tom has such simple but catchy riffs.
It really makes you want to ride around just causing mayhem.
Finally. A music review that matches the energy and badassery of some of these great bands. Cheers, bro ❤
I love seeing people experience these things for the first time. This shit changed my life as a teen and helped me process bullsh*t being perpetrated. It used to be that people, regardless of ethnicity, used music to tell people things were bad.

+1 for Down Rodeo (with lyrics up)

Seen them in concert a few months ago, energy was off the fucking charts! Rage and Run the Jewels.
That’s a bucket list lineup shiiit!
Same here, saw them on 8/22 in NYC. Had tickets to see them back in 2001 but the show got cancelled and they broke up a month later. Never thought I’d get the opportunity again.
I’m pretty sure they aren’t gonna be doing anymore live shows; which fucking sucks because I really wanted to see them.
You are god damn lucky
“They rally round the family with a pocket full of shells.” Hiding behind family values to further political violence. You know who THOSE people are.
AH! That makes sense and is fire af!
@@HollywoodRobTV rage was like that. Bars soooooo deep you really gotta pay attention. You gotta try Down Rodeo next. I promise you its a banger and so on point politically that its nearly impossible to ignore.

@@jarrodstaton4753 its 100% what i mean about POLITICAL violence. its not direct or even obvious. it comes from policies that inflict suffering and misery on others. case in fact an IOWA bill that allows 14-17 y/o to work in mines and other dangerous jobs.

I'm 50 and just became a huge fan of your reactions to bands from my 20's. I wish my daughter could hear music the way you do!!! Keep bringing it! Maybe dive a little deeper into the styles pouring out of the radio in the late 80's through the 90's. Your straight shooter approach...on point!
“That’s Tom Morello turning a guitar into a magic wand!” I love that!
Love these RATM reaction vids. You’re right about Zach. Owned the stage and absolutely killed even when he had to sit the whole show because of a fucked up ankle.
i absolutely love seeing people's eyes opened with RATM, especially when the songs touch a real part of their life. RATM go hard. they once did a show on BBC, and were told they weren't allowed to say "F**K you i won't do what you tell me" in killing live, and they did that shit anyways. can't tell a MF what to do
Which cracks me up, considering what he’s saying and then they tell him not to. Really? What did they expect. Awesome clip to watch
@@ericcowsill7821 It literally proved in that moment how out of touch with reality the BBC were, completely missing the point of what RATM stood for BY SAYING "please don't say fuck you"
it's literally so low IQ to the point that it seems unconscious, like they were robots without a thought process just programmed to treat every guest a certain same way
You'll be happy to hear that literally every song by Rage is a complete banger. They are the only band to have an all-hit song library, IMO.
React to "Down Rodeo".
There are many bands with that distinction. Obviously it is subjective, but, there a few bands I can think of that their whole catalogue is must listen. 🍻
@@jayclue8581 Word. On second thought, Zeppelin doesn't possess a "miss" with me.
I was a 13 year old girl when their debut album came out and my mind was literally BLOWN !!!! 😆😆😆🙌🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 The shear ENERGY people !!! The MESSAGE !!! Just fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Down Rodeo and their cover of Ghost of Tom Joad a deep track, should be on your list, even if you don’t make videos for them
Down Ro- deo!,,,!!!
My three fav rage songs. Nail on head.
Down Rodeo is so fuckin cold ...
Same.
man, I have loved this band since I was a kid, but you got to reignite my passion even stronger than before.
Or how much things never change... Throughout history.
They were NOT ahead of their time…. most people didn’t know what they were singing about because media wasn’t showing you and you didn’t know there were issues until social media showed you….
not prophetic, just shows how little we have actually advanced as an union, as people.
Brilliance!
Love these reactions. There hasn’t been a band like Rage before or after them. I regret never seeing them live.
Glad you discovered Rage. Pick scrapping across the tiny grooves on a guitar string with a little waah pedal and you're playing the scratching guitar sound. Morelo is one of the legends in my world.🤘
Can't wait until he gets to "People of the Sun", where Morello plays the main riff with an Allen wrench.
i'm 47, first heard RATM since grade 10. your enthusiasm is infectious, love it! you clearly get it! keep on getting it!!!
Wake Up by Rage is a lyrical masterpiece and easily one of my favorite songs. Love this band, and yeah, we know what bops are lol.
Your reactions to their music is why I am here. The power of music truly transcends time. Cheers from Canada.
@@f4rensabriI always figured it was just his pick on the low E.
Is that other one you mentioned the bit from Revolver?
@@foszter I don't quite remember, it's been years ago since i saw that trick
I'm so happy to see this, it literally gave me chills to see you hear the first time!! There will never be another band like them, ever!!
Darkness Of Greed is way underrated, one of my favourites
Bro, i just found you on my feed and your reactions are fire. I love how genuine you are. So many reaction videos are dudes just sitting chilling listening to the songs but you put all of yourself in these reactions. I hope at some point i find that you have done some Falling in Reverse. Their mix of metal, rap, and rock is amazing.
One of my favorites, HOW I COULD JUST KILL A MAN, an old Cypress Hill song. I love your reactions to Rage.
