Man it's crazy how much crossover I hear about in rock music so far. Just like how Chris Cornell went from Soundgarten to Audioslave. That's dope as hell
@@HollywoodRobTV Also Kurt Kobain told him he wasn't able to cowrite or make any decisions in Nirvana because Kurt said it was his band and didn't want anyone sharing the spotlight
@@HollywoodRobTV Quite a few artists actually do this. Trent Reznor of NIN. Jon Crosby of VAST (first album only). Even Prince would do this at times. It's insane how much talent some people can contain within themselves.
The Drake comparison is spot on. Foo Fighters are absolutely a radio-friendly rock band. If Dave Grohl knows anything, it's how to write a damn hit song.
I have a photo of myself and Dave Grohl on my wall. Ran into him at a music store in Springfield, VA in 1996. I was playing an electric drum kit. I stopped momentarily and heard a guy say "Those things are pretty cool." I look up and it's fucking Dave Grohl standing there talking to me!!! He was so damn cool. He chatted with me and my brothers for a few. And he took MY drumsticks, sat down and played the fucking drums, RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME WITH MY FUCKING STICKS!!!!!!!!!! One of the coolest moments of my life.
Yeah, Foo Fighters are a great baseline for "just rock" at this point. They embody it basically perfectly. Sometimes they cross in to hard rock, but rock is the best one.
Foo Fighters were one of the greatest live acts I've ever seen. The singer, Dave Grohl, is a really cool dude, too. 🥰 glad you liked this one. All their stuff is good, tbh.
Yes, they are phenomenal live. I actually saw them open for the Red Hot Chili Peppers back in 2000 or '01 (can't remember which) and they blew the Chili Peppers away! I love both bands but the Foo Fighters were always incredible live. Yes, I'm fairly certain most people know that Dave was the drummer for Nirvana. No?
Dave Grohl once broke his leg while playing a show, like the first or second song, had his band play some covers while he went to the hospital to get some treatment, went back to the venue about an hour after he broke his leg and then finished the set that was like 2 hours long while a medic helped to keep the leg stabilized. He is an absolute legend and the very definition of a rock star, but he's also super humble and down to earth from what I've seen in interviews and such. The rest of the band are also legends but Dave definitely is the front man. RIP to Taylor Hawkins.
As far as I’m aware he didn’t go to the hospital mid-set. I believe he went backstage and the medic put on like an aircast or brace to stabilize it, then he came back out to finish the show while the medic held his ankle in a stable position for the entire rest of the set. They reunited a few years after the event on a talk show I think. Either way, they’re both badasses in their own respects. Dave for finishing the show with a broken ankle, and the medic for holding his foot stable for the entire thing so that no more damage was done.
If this was like 3 or 4 years ago (I could be wrong on that timeline) he had like a throne built for the rest of that tour that held his leg in a good spot and played the shows from it. That was a super fuckin cool show. They did a cover of Bad Moon Rising as a full lunar eclipse was coming up over the mountain directly behind the crowd. Epic show.
The coolest part about that was his reasoning. He felt bad thar working class people spent there hard earned money to come out to see the show. He said he couldn't let people like that go home disappointed after spending their wages to see him.
And it's the best album they ever made. Last album included. "... Nothing Left to Lose" included... "Color and shape" included... "One by One" included... Every other album is amazing, and they rock. But there's something on the first album that just grabs me by the balls and say: "LISTEN TO ME!" You may disagree, and that's cool. Have your opinion. This is mine.
Unfortunately for this band, they lost their drummer Taylor Hawkins last year. Now Taylor was really one of a kind. In my opinion, one of the single most electric, tight and incredible drummers of this generation. He played drums like no other and he will be deeply missed. You should really look into him. He has a fantastic singing voice too. The man had endless energy
If you can, go to a concert. Fly wherever you need to go. I went to the concert in Boston and people were crying. The way Dave sings the songs live stirs so much emotion, you will cry.
I’ve been writing music and touring for 15 years. Foo fighters is one of the most difficult bands to cover and do justice and it’s solely bc of Dave grohl. His intensity is so insane. Then throw in the fact you have to play the guitar part at the same. Dude is the unmatched.
I saved up babysitting money just to buy their first album the day it was released. I still remember the "this is f'ing awesome" feeling listening to the album over and over on my walkman 🤣
You could argue they are alternative rock since they carried that sound from the 90's but they have been one very few bands from that era that have managed to stay relevant throughout the years.
I loved at the Foo Fighters show I went to how Dave basically said we came for music not to hear him talk so they were going to play music for a long time instead of talking a lot then proceeded to play a three hour show while barely talking.
I've never heard of radio rock. In the 80s the goal for more pop oriented bands was to sell out arenas so the term "arena rock" was invented. Bands like Bon Jovi fit this description. Foo Fighters continues in this vein but the real genre of these bands is just Hard Rock. They continue the tradition of pop oriented hard rock music like AC/DC, Aerosmith and Bon Jovi just with 90s/00s flavor.
"Radio rock" - Dude, the appropriate term is Alt-rock. I don't know if they were ever truly thought of as Grunge; I feel like that label is only there because people saw them as sort of a successor to Nirvana. Definitely grunge-adjacent at least, though.
I was hoping you'd get to the Foos at some point. They have been my favorite band for nearly 30 years. Theirs was the first concert I ever went to as a teenager and my first mosh pit and crowd surfing experience. And I'm not white! 😆Seeing them live is incredible and you should definitely go for it. Of course it won't ever be the same without their drummer Taylor but I'm so happy to see them touring again with Josh Freese and can't wait to see them again. As far as genre goes I'd say they are the definition of hard rock, post grunge born out of 90's alternative music which the lead singer Dave Grohl helped usher in as the drummer of Nirvana. Their catalog is huge but some definite songs to eventually follow this up with would be "All My Life" "Monkey Wrench" "I'll Stick Around" "Run" "My Hero" "Everlong" "Something From Nothing" "Rope" "Best of You" and "Times Like These" That list gives you a wide spread along their history of albums. Looking forward to the next one you give a try to.
They were awesome when I saw them at Sonic Temple in May! Still working things out with Josh, a bit. Extra emotional because it was in Ohio. But 2 hours of banger after banger. My voice was gone by the end!
Can't go wrong with Foo Fighters. They had some adversity last year with the passing of their drummer Taylor Hawkins. But they are now back with a new drummer and new album. Rock on 🎸🎸🤘
Cool that you mentioned the "who are you?" part at live shows, because nowadays they just stop the music abruptly at this part and let the crowd sing/scream before they, it's so fucking nice
Their concerts were the only venue where I'd seen "kids" in their teens and twenties side by side with us geezers (50s+) , all on our feet, belting out the lyrics and punching the air. Pure awesomeness. I'm sure there are other bands out there like that ;), just from my limited experience.
Probably one of the top 3 concerts i've ever been into! Almost 2:30 hours of just pure and simple Rock n´ Roll! Not a fancy overproduced-concert (thank fkn God), and not too much bs talk!... just a fkn awesome band with great songs and great party/celebration vibe from start to finish! 🤘❤🤟
Foo Fighters live is ALWAYS a good show. Last time I saw them, they literally went for 3.5 hours, and seemed like they would have kept going if not for the fact that they had a show the next day and physically had to leave. So much fun.
Your Drake comparison is perfect, man. Yes, Foo Fighters is mainstream rock 100%. That doesn't make it bad. I like some Drake, I like some Foo Fighters. But they make commercial music that has to appeal to millions of people. I would never say either of the two are my favorite artists or represent their genres best qualities, but they are made to sound good; and for the most part, they do that. Perfect comparison. Proud of you for always being honest, and also using some of your knowledge to make connections (like nirvana)! Keep going, brother
When they were here in Sweden a few years ago, Dave fell off stage and broke his leg. But, he got the leg braced within an hour and returned to finish the show :) What a guy!

Loving all these reactions brother! Foo Fighters is one band that I tell everyone to see live. It's impossible to go to a Foo concert and leave unhappy.
The word is Grunge. Or maybe Post-Grunge. Foo Fighters are one of the last, most recognizable workhorse bands with a sound and history clearly rooted in grunge.
@@willtyler5118dad rock is not a natural taxonomic category, it’s whatever dads listen to. You cannot tell me that a category that has Foo Fighters, Queen, The Beatles, The Eagles, The Who, and Aerosmith is a natural group
Dave Grohl is one of my favorite musicians because he still fully embraces what it means to be a musician. It comes out in their performances and Foo Fighters is still one of the best concerts I've been to just because they really make the shows about the crowd experience rather than it being about themselves. The got on stage and were 11 songs deep before they even said anything. Dude just likes to rock out and play and it's just a richer experience because of it.
I saw them live finally probably five years ago, and seriously.....that show was worth every penny spent. Be sure ti see them live when you can. RIP Taylor.
Cal Jam ‘18. One of my top concert experiences of all time. Foo Fighters headlined and played most of the hits from their discography in reverse order. Left the stage and did some backstage video interaction with the crowd. Chris Noveselic steps into the frame and the audience LOST IT. They came back out and played six Nirvana songs as the encore. I looked around and everyone my age (41 at the time) was 😭
I would consider Foo Fighters as like a modern arena rock band, but they are likely number one or two in influence when it comes to most Pop Punk bands.
Bro .. I seen LIVE CONCERT .. SYSTEM OF THE DOWN, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, LINKIN PARK, FOO FIGHTERS, OZZY .. want to see RATM, REIMSTEM, PANTERA .. but congrats on you expanding your music history.. 🙏🏆👏🫡🥇👍
Their music is rock. It’s accessible. It’s a drummer’s band with roots in punk, grunge, and the Beatles. Their concerts are awesome. Lots of singing along and dancing/bouncing. I saw them in May, and even though they’re recovering from the death of their drummer, Taylor, and Dave’s mom, they put on a phenomenal show. My voice was gone by the end of it.
Just came across your channel and watched most of this playlist! I love what you're doing and I have a few suggestions. (Credentials: I am very white) One song I specifically think you would like: Thirty Seconds to Mars - "The Kill" A couple others you might like: Airborne Toxic Event - "Sometime Around Midnight" Dashboard Confessional - "Vindicated" Breaking Benjamin - "So Cold" Some legendary white songs (Go here for excellent guitar solos): Led Zeppelin - "Stairway to Heaven" Pink Floyd - "Comfortably Numb" The Eagles - "Hotel California" A good song if you're looking for some classic metal (More excellent guitar solo): Metallica - "Master of Puppets"
What's really cool is that if you learn about Dave Grohl, his favorite compliment of all time might be to hear someone who's listening for the first time say, "He might not be one of the most skilled or naturally talented singers I've heard, but it's one of my most favorite voices."
Card-carrying Honky here! I love that you are checking out "White" music. I did the same thing with hip hop, country, and metal--genres I used to dismiss but now enjoy. Keep up the vids and the organic reactions!
I've been to 100 rock concerts and the Foo Fighters blow everyone else away!! They're energy level is ridiculous! Check out they're live at Wembly stadium footage and watch who they bring out to do a few songs with!
I had the privilege of seeing the Foo Fighters live and while they were of course amazing their opener at the time absolutely killed it as well. Check out Royal Blood! They are a bassist and drummer from the UK with a very unique sound. Out of the Black is probably a good place to start with them.
The genre is called Post Grunge. This is the genre that came after grunge (Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden were Grunge). Nickelback were also Post Grunge.
I love how the music appreciation in you is starting to notice all the small rock genre differences and how ALL music has their own styles as well! KUDOS!
Went this song first released and they went on tour with that album I was working at the arena they were performing and my manager allowed me to go see the opening. They opened with this. It was fire!!! One of my favourite memories.
DEFINITELY see them live! Can't recommend their shows enough... best show of any genre I've ever been to. The intensity was off the charts.. every song is a banger
I do love seeing someone getting into FF for the first time, it's just so satisfying. The best part is that FF is never derivative. Does Grohl have the best vocals or talent on the guitar or drums? No, but it's a sum of all parts that makes FF legendary. I liked FF for a long time, but never considered myself a fan until i read about Grohl many years later and got to understand who he was as a man. Seriously, read into him some and you'll have a whole different level of respect for who he is. He's been through a lot, but has spent a huge part of his professional career making sure other musicians don't have to struggle like he did. And while I don't have kids myself, reading about how god damned great he is as a father is so good. He won't take shit from others, especially when it affects his kids.
This was my first hard rock song which make love rock since back then I didn't had access to internet and no one to recommended me this type of music... I became a Foo Fighters fan since then even though I only knew that song back in the day
You should see them live! Thankfully they continue to be one of the most active touring bands ever. These dudes have been doing this since 1994. That's a long time to be turning out this much awesome.
the last concert I went to was actually a foo fighters concert and honestly it was such an amazing experience... just feeling the bass in my body and having a blast dancing with my friends was awesome!
Loving the series so! Cannot wait to see what you get into next. It’d be great to see you react to “King for a Day” by Peirce the Veil. Song absolutely hits. Keep up the great work
I'm glad you're having good success! Your reactions are so legit, especially on the high-energy songs. While I like chill songs soo, you often capture the kind of energy I feel listening to a banger ass high energy song :D
Foo Fighters has arguably been the most popular, mainstream rock act for the past 20-25 years. They're a genre unto themselves. The singer Dave Grohl has been in the most popular bands in rock for most of the past 30 year with Nirvana and Foo Fighters (and others) For a video giving a taste of the live experience with a strong focus on the voice, try this solo accoustic performance of Tiny Dancer by Elton John on the Late Late Show from 1997 or something ua-cam.com/video/IVUSh6pKYdQ/v-deo.html
If you hit up Foo Fighters again, consider "All my life" ...the song as a whole slows down in the verses, but it hits so hard at some moments, it's sooo worth the time.
Foo Fighters are what I listen to the most and I actually saw them last week in Arkansas! They got a new drummer Josh Freese because the unfortunate passing of Taylor Hawkins. Josh Freese was the drummer from Devo, nine Inch Nails, Wheezer and more that I can’t name at the top of my head.
I Happened to come across one of your vids while watching reactions of Falling in Reverse and saw you reacted to a lot of the older early to mid 90s grunge/alternative rock and ended up watching almost all of them. I gotta say. Your reactions are fire. I like seeing people get hyped over a medium that expresses so many different themes and emotions. I'll be sure to sub and see whatever else you have cooking up. I would be interested to see you react to Miracle by A Day to Remember considering your stated likes in previous vids. Keep doing what you do!
Another great reaction Rob! You should get to Ren - "Hi Ren" I'm pretty sure it will be up your alley... he's a singer that is on the rise right now, all independent, no record labels... and to me he's a genius! Check it out

The word is Grunge. Or maybe Post-Grunge. Foo Fighters are one of the last, most recognizable workhorse bands with a sound and history clearly rooted in grunge.
It's dad rock, and I mean that in the nicest way possible!
Yeah, it’s definitely post-grunge hard rock, there is no other way to properly describe the sound.
@@willtyler5118dad rock is not a natural taxonomic category, it’s whatever dads listen to. You cannot tell me that a category that has Foo Fighters, Queen, The Beatles, The Eagles, The Who, and Aerosmith is a natural group
I like to think Foo Fighters is arena or stadium rock.
Post grunge is more bands like Seether.
I think seeing your rection to something like "hey there delilah - plain white T's "would be really fun
I looked around and everyone my age (41 at the time) was 😭
The lead singer and guitar player Dave Growl is the drummer for Nirvana. Talk about talent.
Foo Fighters make some incredibly likable music. And the band are super cool dudes
The Foo Fighters are just rock. Straight up rock.
Loving the rock reactions. Keep up the good work!
My favorite band 🤟
Just came across your channel and watched most of this playlist! I love what you're doing and I have a few suggestions. (Credentials: I am very white)
One song I specifically think you would like:
Thirty Seconds to Mars - "The Kill"
A couple others you might like:
Airborne Toxic Event - "Sometime Around Midnight"
Dashboard Confessional - "Vindicated"
Breaking Benjamin - "So Cold"
Some legendary white songs (Go here for excellent guitar solos):
Led Zeppelin - "Stairway to Heaven"
Pink Floyd - "Comfortably Numb"
The Eagles - "Hotel California"
A good song if you're looking for some classic metal (More excellent guitar solo):
Metallica - "Master of Puppets"
You should definitely see them live. They put on a hell of a show. I wasn’t even that big of a fan before seeing them live and it made me go all in.
KUDOS!
They are brilliant live and they actually started the concert with this song. Thank you for trying other music, Mate
Went this song first released and they went on tour with that album I was working at the arena they were performing and my manager allowed me to go see the opening. They opened with this. It was fire!!! One of my favourite memories.
That gym work really shows brother. Keep up the good work
DEFINITELY see them live!
3:25 - and that's the lyric where my handle comes from 🙏🏽
Glad to see you enjoying this classic tune from one of my favorite bands!
I highly recommend The Executioners feat. Linkin Park, Satic X - Its Going Down
(it's fusion of hip hop and metal)
This was my first hard rock song which make love rock since back then I didn't had access to internet and no one to recommended me this type of music... I became a Foo Fighters fan since then even though I only knew that song back in the day
I was fortunate to be able to catch thier tour when this album came out. Such a great show ❤
What a blast from the past. This song used to be on my running playlist. It gave me that extra boost I can’t explain.
Dave Grohl, the lead singer and guitarist of Foo FIghters, was originally the drummer for Nirvana before Kurt Cobain died.
My boy is looking good! Nice review. Totally rock for the masses cause it's that good.
Keep up the great work
The last time I heard this song (before watching this video) was at a Foo Fighters concert. Go see them! It’s a hell of a ride!
Congratulations on your page views! I remember your first video with Rage. Happy to see your views growing.
I'm glad you're having good success! Your reactions are so legit, especially on the high-energy songs. While I like chill songs soo, you often capture the kind of energy I feel listening to a banger ass high energy song :D
Getting into a good mosh pit is awesome. When you're done you will feel so good, so liberated.
Foo Fighters has arguably been the most popular, mainstream rock act for the past 20-25 years. They're a genre unto themselves.
The singer Dave Grohl has been in the most popular bands in rock for most of the past 30 year with Nirvana and Foo Fighters (and others)
For a video giving a taste of the live experience with a strong focus on the voice, try this solo accoustic performance of Tiny Dancer by Elton John on the Late Late Show from 1997 or something

If you hit up Foo Fighters again, consider "All my life" ...the song as a whole slows down in the verses, but it hits so hard at some moments, it's sooo worth the time.
"It sounds like it could be on madden" I think that encapsulates what you were looking for lol. Love Foo Fighters!
I'm SOOOO glad you like this one!!!
Funny you mention wanting to see them live. Just saw them last night. It was fantastic.
OMG FINALLLLLYYYYYYYYY the foo fighters is my shyyyyyytttttt!!! I was stank facing with you from the jump!
Who else thinks Rob needs to listen to some Muse? Maybe Knights of Cydonia or Time is Running Out?
He would love Hysteria
Loving how many comments you get in the first 5 hours. Channel is growing! Looks like you get quite a solid engagement % from the following you have.
Another great reaction Rob! You should get to Ren - "Hi Ren" I'm pretty sure it will be up your alley... he's a singer that is on the rise right now, all independent, no record labels... and to me he's a genius! Check it out
lead singer of foo fighters was the drummer for Nirvana. The world of grace and provisions has completed another circle of life and legend.
"i would like to see them live"
Foo Fighters are one of the best live acts in rock and roll. 2-3 hours of unreal energy
Now hear this songs to rock out.. PANTERA (WALK & DOMINATION live ) LINKIN PARK ( GIVIN UP) RATM (TESTIFY) METALLICA (who the bells tolls) 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 let’s go
I've broken 2 sets of headphones watching your videos 😂. Have to listen at max volume!
Let's go! Not a huge Foo Fighters fan, but I've been in plenty of mosh pits.
You're a wild mf then LOL. A friend of mine participates. I couldn't imagine
Haha my first concert was System of a Down opening for Fear Factory. Good times. Speaking of which, if you want more tracks for your crazy workout playlist throw Shock by Fear Factory on it.
Glad that you got an opportunity to hear this song, if i may suggest hero next
Loving your channel and vibe. I found you based on your reaction to "Killing in the Name of" and have been going through the rest of your stuff. It makes me love some of my music all over again seeing your energy. Thanks for letting us join in this mind expansion. Would love to see you do Living Color's Cult of Personality or Scorpion's Winds of Change.
Yes Foo Fighters is very mainstream. They're like that mainstream that even the underground snobs typically respect though. Really good job identifying that from the sound alone!
Seen them twice and they put on one HELL of a show!
Oh wow this is middle school vibes for me 😂 Love seeing these reaction videos!
