Ozzy Osborne, former singer of Black Sabbath before being kicked out and going solo. This is one of his most famous songs. It's about the Cold War between the US and the USSR. Randy Rhoads, not seen here was the guitarist on the studio version and one of the best guitarists ever. Randy Rhoads was on the first two Ozzy albums before his life was cut short by a plane crash. Check out Ozzy - Over the Mountain.
This concert had a lot of bands for 3 days over Memorial Weekend in 1983. It was between 90 - 100 degrees all 3 days. Each day was a different genre. Saturday was New Wave Day. Sunday was Heavy Metal day. Monday was general rock day. It was held at an open area in Southern CA. It was like a modern day Woodstock. Put on by Steve Wozniak who is Apple computer co-founder. Because it was so successful, an actual venue now called Glen Helen music venue in Devore CA. I live close to downtown Los Angeles and it's a 2 hour drive from my house. I saw No Doubt there in 2004.
The late, great Randy Rhoads version will never be topped, but I understand the need to carry on and over the past 41 years, Ozzy has kept Randy's name and music alive. I highly recommend the 1981 version of "Mr. Crowley" to see Randy at his best. Live performances of Randy are rare, making them priceless. May he RIP
Less than a month away from his 75th birthday now, (born December 3, 1948), Father Time has significantly slowed Ozzy's row for a few years now. But at his peak whether fronting the legendary Black Sabbath or his own band, Ozzy has mastered looking about as well adjusted as any rock star out there that's still above ground at playing that "Diary of Madman" persona that he spent years perfecting to the hilt. All the while more than happy to do his worldwide traveling and touring as the Crazy Train's most famous and well known rock n roll psychopath.
There's a live version of Mr. Crowley you should check out with Randy Rhoads....like a live in studio performance. Jake E Lee (the guitarist here) isn't bad but....he's not RR, he did an admirable job trying to fill mighty big shoes.
@@larrywalker5374 Doc says my tinnitus probably dates back to getting crowd-stuffed into Lemmy's floor speaker as Motorhead opened for Blizzard of Oz (1981). A weak link, but Ozzy could be implicated for both.
One of the "Godfather's" of Rock. Took a lot after the death of "Randy Rhoads" Jake E. Lee had some serious shoes to fill and, he did. He would go on to other bands including the one I'm about to drop. Look/Listen in on, "Badlands" tune - "Winter's Call" no one has done this tune. Super fun and fab reactions. Peace
This is from the “Us Festival “ that Steve Wozniak from Apple Co. put together. That’s Jake E Lee on guitar and the incredible Tommy Aldridge on drums * Tommy was a big drum influence on me as a younger drummer, his foot work is crazy good, Original guitarist Randy Rhodes had unfortunately & tragically passed by this time , he was very gifted. Nice to see Ozzy actually move & hop about the stage.
That was Jake E Lee’s first gig with ozzy I was at that concert ..been a jake fan ever since ..seen ozzy with Jake 2 more times…best concert ever US festival 1983 I was dragged to that concert ..I thank my brother everyday..never forgot it..please if you do a reaction of “ Bark at the Moon “ original video you’ll see that same guitarist Jake tearing it up especially on the solo..my favorite solo 🙏
Lulu stealing rhe show 😂😂😂 I never did go see Ozzy play live but love his music. He's an odd Englishman in life and while on tour but put him on stage and he's brilliant. Catching the whole family on Streaming somewhere "The Osbornes" is a good watch for the 3 of you. He's played with Black Sabbath, their War Pigs live version is must see stuff, hia solo stuff was amazing and he's even done a studio song with Post Malone.
I've seen him in concert three times; twice as a solo artist, and the other time was during Black Sabbath's 13 tour (the band's last studio album ever). And Ozzy actually did TWO songs with Post Malone.
This video has jake e lee on lead guitar at the 83 us festival the one with Randy Rohads playing is much better jake is a awesome guitarist but Randy is legendary
"Crazy, but that's how it goes. Millions of people living as foes. Maybe, it's not too late, to learn how to love and forget how to hate". I sure hope he was right.
Check out the studio version, and you will almost definitely recognize thos song. This one sounds way different without Randy and being outside. As everyone has said " Check out Black Sabbath." He has a duet with Lita Ford you would probably like too. More of a ballad. People always asked to get on your shoulders. Especially back then. It was nothing for some strange girl to tap your shoulder and ask.
Pretty much any rocker, whether a musician or a fan, they all had BIG hair in the 80's. That's includes girls and young women. Go look up 80's hairstyles.
Was there and I was able to get up very close and shout out to Ozzy I knew he could hear me. I had a loud voice when I was 17🎉🎉 Y'all enjoying yourselves 🎉🎉
Wanna see cool ? Check out his "Bark at the moon solar eclipe" No other musician in history has pulled off that. Daylight when the song starts, goes dark, then daylight when the song ends. Nobody can beat that !!!
There are so many stories about Ozzy. One of the most famous ones, and it's on film, is of him biting the head off a bat. Someone threw a bat on stage and Ozzy grabbed it and bit the head off thinking it was just a plastic toy, but it was really alive. And if you watch the documentary called The Dirt about the band Motley Crue, they claim he snorted a line of ants once. Definitely not a movie for Lulu (Even I was shocked by some of the things they did and I'm 54).
I might be rong but that dont look like randy rhodes the orininal guitar player for this song he was killed in a single engine plane crash i think just a few months before this, randy is considered one of thr greatest ever thst died early, thry were in knoxville tn doing stunts in the airplane and it crashed
Nice reaction, ladies! For Ozzy, or his former band, Black Sabbath, you need to have the lyrics up. Believe it or not, they're always about love, happiness, or warnings for humanity. A really poignant song (also a warning) is Revelation, Mother Earth is a MUST. The song names are usually and intentionally misleading to throw people off guard...Children of the Grave is a prime example, and another MUST. (especially for folks of Lulu's age)
Ozzys real name is john michael osborne he was known as ozzy long before black sabath, he got his first tattoos in jail a pair of smiley faces on his knees and ozzy on his knuckles
THANKS LADIES FOR THE VIDEO I BELIEVE THIS IS OZZIE WHEN HE WENT SOLO OZZIE AND HIS WIFE SHARON AND SON HAVE A SHOW ON THEE TRAVEL CHANNEL THE OSBORNES WANT TO BELIEVE
People trying to get on stage you say? I worked load in/out for one of his shows in Ames iowa, talked with one of the roadies who spent most of the day hand sewing a backdrop back together after the night before when a fan jumped from a mid level and caught the drape and ripped it about 15-20 feet. They ended up wanting us to stay for the show as extra security. Sure enough. Ozzy says a one point. "There are no rules. Do whatever the f you want" The show was 3/4 stage so no one was supposed to be behing the set. But when he said that the rush was on. I caught one kid by the shirt collar after he had on leg over the wall and it was a 12-15 foot drop to concrete floor behind the set. He wised up and didn't do it after i told him the night befoer so kid did and the roadies down there would pick him up and throw him out the back door whether he broke something in the fall or not. And wouldn't you rather see the rest of the show?
For a different side of Ozzie try his song " Changes". It's about losing someone you love and what one goes through. It starts solw and stays that way but is beautiful.
@@KathyLuluandDonna thank u for replying. Y'all are doing real good with Master Class bands. Stick with it. Life is too short for mediocrity. Live good.
I heard a country version of this song about ten years ago, as the opening of an episode of the Revolution series, and I have to say that, for my musical tastes, it was better than the original
If your looking for a big crowd the biggest crowd in history was the mosscow freedom concert 3.5 million ozzy played that concert but ozzys demons got the best of him that night after heavy drinking ended up in jail for assaulting his wife and manager sharron
Jeez, who recommended this version? You have to hear it with Randy Rhoads playing the guitar, the guy who wrote the song. Sound guy had the keyboards turned up way too loud in the mix as well

Randy Rhoads was the best thing that's ever happened to Ozzy.
Whoever is on the keyboard at this concert went f*ckin nuts😂 the song doesn’t normally have THAT much synth but he went with it and it worked😂

Jake E. Lee never tried to fill Randy's shoes , he just did his thing and he is a badass. Randy is my hero but Jake is great in his own rite.

Those are really good sodas. Lol
I think Lulu's mixing a little moonshine in her Jarritos. Fun reaction! That was a stage-hand behind the drummer, prolly fixing something.
definitely a drum tech, probably bring something to drink since it was an outdoor gig.
