Great video. Not many people realize that the 2011 Japanese tsunami had a major detrimental impact to SCV’s development. People often blame the dev’s for SCV feeling rushed and incomplete, but they really should be blaming Mother Nature.
Ashlotte was confirmed canon earlier in SCV too, she was the one who brought back Astaroth's core to the cult after Maxi killed him which was used to make the mass-produced Astaroths. Also, IIRC, there's a Broken Destiny-era character relationship chart that confirmed that the SCIV bonus characters are canon. Incidentally, both Olcadan and Edge Master sensed Angol Fear and were prepared to deal with her, but she left the planet before anything happened.
I knew Scheherezade was on the relationship chart, but I didn't know about the others. And I forgot all about the Ashlotte plot in SCV! Thanks for the info
26:25 If I wanted to be SUPER generous, I always assumed the Catching Sophitia bathing scene was a reference to her Greek aesthetic; there's a Greek myth of some dude (I think he gets struck blind or turned into a donkey or something weird) creeping on a nymph bathing in a stream.
Hellbound was written by Masta Ace, Eminem is one of two guest rappers, but in the days of Kazaa/Limewire/ect was labeled as an Eminem song. It's one of his best verses in his whole career, and he don't remember doing it.
You just answered my comment of why he is on the thumbnail picture. Of course it was a Masta Ace song and MC Skittles has done a version of it that people favor over the original.
I'm surprised there wasn't more trivia about costumes and weapons, like Cassandra with Valkyrie no Boken, Sophitia and Tower of Druaga, or even Mitsurugi and Haohmaru. Not even something like Harada himself being in SCV as an NPC you fight. I guess that stuff is more surface-level?
In the last Witcher book based on chronological order of events (Lady of the Lake) Ciri ends up in universe similar to Soulcalibur so I see connection but to make Geralt so important to make it canon and on main cover brings joy and some negative emotions since I see game is not selling well how it deserves to sell.
The great thing about Angol Fear is that Keroro Gunsou’s tone is wildly different compared to soul calibur. It’s like if Tekken included an Invader Zim character
amazing video, this scratched a huge lore itch ive been having lol. honestly you could probably make a whole half hour video just about acht and the servants of souledge. we have information about zwei in the johan greatblade library entry and we even have information about vier in the "sword of the inquisitor" library entry. we know that sechs also exists but we have no description of them as far as i can tell. my guess is that sechs will be the servant of azola just like how zwei is the servant of durer. and ALSO if you read about the great wolf in the sc6 library, you get to read a description of him that sounds awfully familiar to ein 👀 i am SO excited to see what happens with the servants of souledge
Would’ve made sense if they put Lizardman into the game, due to the lizardman race being an option and in one of the stories you fight a lizardman using lizardman’s fighting style
There’s also a complete set of Lizardman armor worn by some CaS that can’t be accessed by the player. It really feels like he was planned to be included and got cut late in development.
Its a shame that there's no reference of Calcos, the Oblivion Knight. For those who don't remember, Calcos(yep, just like Aeon's surname) was the boss of a dungeon filled with lizardmen in SC2's Weapon Master Mode
Huh just found your channel. Didnt know there was someone who cared about fighting game lore as much as me. Especially when it comes to my favorite fighting game soulcalibur.
If sc6's dlc names weren't throwaway, then it's quite sad. I only recently found out that there is unfinished Edgemaster's style in game files, which supposedly crashes game due to weird bugs. This makes atleast 4 dlc characters being cut so during 6's late-ish developement, sadge.
No mention of the SC1 Guest Character that got cut? Or the female Edgardo from the same book as the one you got Headless Frederick from? Also Taki and Pyrrha were also in Queen's Gate
@@Silvershire My first thought was because someone forgot to properly translate the romaji but I decided to dig a little deeper before I replied to check and to be sure I wasn't off on that assumption. And you actually are on to something, I concede! We actually do see two distinct spellings of his name in the Japanese text too! At least according to the wiki, I don't know if I would be able to find JP screens of the bio pages anywhere to be sure but it seems like a lot of effort for someone to have made those up for the sake of fooling people on a wiki page. Anywho, there is "マキシ" Which is written in Katakana, a form of Kana used mostly for foreign words, I.E. that would be "Maxi" and "真喜志" which is in Kanji and would be typical in a Japanese name, and would be "Makishi". And to round it out, it makes sense, since his father is noted as being a merchant from a part of Japan that at the time was still considered a tributary of the Ming Dynasty.
The series also features sweaty ridiculously ripped men in loin cloths or very tight pants 😂 Not that I’m complaining, I appreciate the eye candy and it’s still pretty tame compared to some of the DOA costumes 😂
Amazing iceberg. Always thought Soul Caliber has some of the most interesting trivia and lore in fighting games. Now will you excuse me, I will have to sue you for stealing my Smash joke that I made back in my Klonoa Iceberg video. "Just Kidding"
That would be amazing, but unfortunately, the game is all but confirmed as done at this point. It’s been almost an entire year since the last DLC, and Motohiro Okubo recently left Namco.
seidou is actually canon! you can read about him in the new legends of project soul artbook. if i remember correctly, hes an imperial samurai from ryukyu who wants maxi arrested. youll find his name mentioned in one of those artbook relationship charts
17:04 StumbleBee's video did not hold up to scrutiny after all. Read the comments. He is missing many parts of the claim like how it is possible the rumor actually got started in Soul Calibur 2 not 3.
u/Cyber-Phoenix01 on Reddit has pointed me towards some proof of the Seme Com Dungeon Drururaga fact (and honestly it wasn’t all that hard to find, I’m just bad at research). I can confirm that it is a real thing.
Also just a small rant but i hate that they made viola canon in sc6. Shes the most pathetic excuse of a soulcal character next to zwei. Both of them show the worst aspects of V. Especially from a story aspect as memory loss implemented that way is so lazy. And it really just invalidated all of amys character progression. I hope that since 6 is a different timeline that viola only exists in that different timeline and doesnt actually appear again.
Also the known FPS Destiny reference Soul Edge the first time you get the sword you'll have it in the three elements Solar Void Arc and the solar element blade named Sol Edge ua-cam.com/video/vH3q2dybXT8/v-deo.html

Im still playing soul calibur 6 to this day and i enjoy it alot
What are you still doing in the game that you find fun, if I may ask?

it was the myth of Actaeon where the hunter named Actaeon, saw the goddess Artemis bathing she turned into a deer. His hunting hounds killed him
it would make sense for soulcalibur and tekken to be in the same universe, Heihachi was a guest character in the ps2 version of soulcalibur 2
Was wondering why Eminem was in the thumbnail, then i remembered the Hellbound song with Masta Ace and it all came rushing back lol
Grteat video!! Also I wish they would start making SC7 already

Well, I had to draw the line somewhere. There’s a ton of SC trivia out there, and this is already one of the longest vids on the channel.

Welcome to the channel! It’s a shame there’s not more fighting game lore content, but at least that means there’s a niche for me to fill.
“This is a gross representation of the Soul Calibur series” yeah they should have went with the Ivy outfit that consists mostly of strings 💀
hey bro nice video, very fun and informative. I really wish we got that season 3 for VI but whatever, the soul still burns! Cheers!
26:11 Nah Soul Calibur is the least sexist game to exist. Both male AND female get the sex appeal
Awesome video, can u do some videos about the lore and curiosity about the characters developments?
Thank you! That’s definitely something I could do. Is there something specific you’d like?
I seen Bayonetta and immediately clicked this cause I really wanna know the context.
Lol I was lucky that some Bayonetta news came out right before my Bayonetta-related video… That’s why I put her front and center in the thumbnail
Besides Polecalibur you can play Soulcalibur II with the Donkey Konga Bongo I tried it.

Wow excellent video, I learned a few new things. I looked up that soulcalibur 2 concept art and made it my computer background
Thank you! I’m glad you liked it.
Lol I'm sure someone else has said it somewhere in the comments, but "Makishi" is just how you say Maxi with Japanese phonemes.
Yeah, but lots of characters’ names are said differently with Japanese phonemes. Why would that pronunciation only appear on Maxi’s bio?

You forgot about the Soul Calibur 2 statues made by McFarland toys that agreement got spawn in the game Todd also designed Necred but solid vid
Thanks

_everybody gangsta till someone said : “where talim?” Or “where tf is talim?”_
maybe Setsu and Seidou can appear future games, hopefully
It’s possible! VI includes a lot of super deep cuts to obscure Soulcalibur lore that I figured would never be referenced again

We need Soul Calibur game with gore and brutality of Mortal Kombat, stage shifting and dead traps etc....btw krushing blow = lethal hit 😉
i wish they'd bring back violas fighting style, even if she isnt tied to amy. azwel's mage style is nice and all but i prefer viola's
I hope we get SCVII next year
That seems unlikely, but it would be awesome!
Im a big soul calibur nerd my self next to street fighter & dead or alive

bruh, what happened to my comment
IDK, I checked the “Held for Review” comments and I don’t see anything there. UA-cam must have just glitched out. What was your comment?
@@Silvershire Same thing I said on reddit, the proof about Nightmare appearance in the CreatureCards article
Oh, my bad, I was looking at the wrong username. Now I’m twice the fool.
Nintendo need a new Soul calibur Game also they also could add Link again.
Why is MC Skittles or M&M’s, whatever his name is, on the picture thumbnail? Please tell me he nothing to do with Soul Caliber
One of his songs samples music and voice lines from Soulcalibur
Imagine making fun of Soul Calibur when you watch Big Bang Theory right?
Lol for real
Obscure? What about theories? Or is that covered? Watching.
