Break Free. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. -Romans 12:2 When the Bible speaks of the world, it’s speaking of a culture that is largely hostile to God. That culture is on television, in the music you listen to, and in movie theaters. It’s a culture that basically says, “Do what you want to do. Please yourself. Do whatever it takes. The ends justify the means.” But the Bible tells us, “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think” (Romans 12:2). Another version puts it this way: “Don’t let the world around you squeeze you into its own mould.” All too often believers allow the world to influence them more than they’re influencing the world. Secular thinking creeps into the church, and as a result, we disregard what the Bible teaches and live the way this culture tells us to live. However, we won’t find the happiness that we’re looking for. Instead, we’ll find emptiness, misery, and dissatisfaction because we’re out of God’s will. Someone once asked a concert violist how she became so skilled. She gave a two-word answer: “planned neglect.” In other words, she neglected everything that wasn’t related to her goal, which was to be a master violinist. If we want to be followers of Jesus, there is an element of planned neglect as well. It means staying away from the things that pull us away and drag us down and embracing the things that build us up and strengthen us in the commitment we’ve made. We present ourselves to God, but at the same time, we don’t conform to this world. Romans 12:2 goes on to say, “Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect” God’s will is good. Some people envision God as the ultimate killjoy. When things are going well in their lives, they think God wants to crash the party and make their lives miserable. Yet how far from the truth that is. God’s plans for us are good. The Bible teaches that God is good. It also tells us in Psalm 84:11, “For the Lord God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The Lord will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right” If the Bible tells us to stay away from a certain thing, it is for our own good. God is not trying to make our lives miserable. He wants us to reach our potential and live in the perfect plan that He has for us. His plans and purposes for us are good. Reject conformity to this world’s system and its self-indulgent ways, and instead be conformed to the image of Jesus. As you do that, you will begin to discover His plan for you. Don’t be afraid to surrender to Him. Don’t let this world squeeze you into its mold. Live the way that God wants you to live.
Brand new female characters from both brand new countries (such as Egypt, Ukraine, Russia, Turkey, Mexico, Vietnam, and New Zealand) and old countries (such as Japan and the United Kingdom), since we didn’t have any in Soulcalibur VI!
I forgot how much content SC3 had even compare to later sc games. Wished Chronicles of the Sword made a comeback. Such a cool addition that shouldn't get left behind for this game only.
I used to play SC 3 a lot as a kid! I've never played any of the games after that, because I only ever had a Playstation 2. Once I was able to get a PS4 though, I was so excited to get back into the series with SC6. Played it for a few hours, never touched it afterwards. I feel like SC6 lacks everything compared to SC3
The last Soul Caliber I played was Soul Caliber 4 because I was so disappointed that it didn't have the Chronicles of the Sword mode that I don't think I've played one since
11:42 Yoshimitsu is a title passed down from wacky samurai to wacky samurai over generations. His first appearance in a game was in Tekken 1, so he’s technically a guest character from Tekken, but he’s a staple in both series. Soul Calibur explores the lives of the first two Yoshimitsus, while the one in Tekken is many, many generations down the line.
to add to this, Yoshimitsu's clan is mentioned across both series when they clash in Project X Zone 2 in late 2015. A massive crossover tactical rpg game for the 3DS with character parties of 3 from multiple game franchises merging their current timelines in a single game so at that time it would be SC5 and T6/TT2. A solo unit and a pair unit. Natsu is the sole representative of Soul Calibur that can be paired with the duo unit, Kazuya and Jin from Tekken. Their post battle dialogue has Jin remarking her similarity to other ninjas he knows including Yoshimitsu which astonishes her to see his clan still exists in the far future.
SoulCalibur is such a special fighting game. Its a shame SC6's lifespan was short due to poor netcode and general lack of attention by the devs. I hope this doesn't discourage Bamco from making SC7 because 3D fighting games are sparse enough in today's landscape
For VI, the netcode was surprisingly fine, especially compared to previous iterations like IV and V. It was the lobbies and general lobby design that were legitimately terrible. Also, COVID. Namco has never pushed Soul Calibur as hard as Tekken into the mainstream, which is a huge shame, because it used to be on equal footing back in the arcade days. With the advent of more single-player focused content and less of a leverage on the competitive scene, Soul Calibur has always felt like the black sheep at Namco after SCII. They like it enough to fund it, but not enough to maintain its public image competitively. Here's hoping we get an SCVII, because God knows the soul still burns.
@@_Jay_Maker_I think it’s because Bamco supports Tekken more than Soul Calibur. It’s also the reason why it has poor netcode and support because Tekken’s more popular than SC at the moment
@@matthewchristian9591 the prince is also the ONLY enemy in the ENTIRETY OF SOUL CALIBUR 3 to have a purple health bar. pretty sure thats like 4 health bars. greatsword spam definitely undermines the difficulty though lol
Since Tekken is set in modern times while Soulcalibur takes place in a medieval fantasy setting, the first Soulcalibur Yoshimitsu was originally considered to be an ancestor to Tekken's Yoshimitsu; however, the introduction of Yoshimitsu II revealed that Yoshimitsus are willingly killed and replaced by a younger protégé as part of a secret ritual, in order to make "Yoshimitsu" appear immortal to outsiders. Therefore, the Tekken version of the character is implied to have inherited the mantle in a similar way
@@odiseusprime3698 Yeah, they share the same continuity. Heihachi's appearance in cements it, with his story being "One day training he finds a shard of metal buried, that turns out to be a fragment of Soul Edge lying dormant." "When picking it up, Heihachi mistakenly cuts himself on the fragment, his blood awakens the fragment which transports him back in time where the hunt for the soul swords were taking place."
The main story of SoulCalibur VI isn't focused on Kilik: It's focused on Soul Calibur and Soul Edge, and it's a retelling of the canon story of SoulCalibur. Instead of making a new story where everything is different, they kept it the same for the most part, with changes that aren't that big. The Aval organization exists, Groh helps Kilik, Azwel is trying to create a new Evil Seed, the future Cassandra that got lost in Astral Chaos arrives in the past and fights her past self. Those kind of changes. But the events of SC1 made canon by SCII stay the same: Kilik meets Xianghua and Maxi, they go fight Nightmare at Ostrheinsburg castle, Maxi stays behind to fight Astaroth and avenge his crew, Kilik beats Nightmate, Xianghua's sword turns out to be Soul Calibur, Xianghua beats Inferno, Kilik's Dvapara-Yuga is broken. You can't tell what happens to Soul Calibur and Soul Edge between Cervantes' defeat (Soul Edge/Soul Blade) and Raphael showing up to fight Nightmare (SoulCalibur II) without focusing on that.
SC3 my beloved. I loved 2 and its where my journey began. I brute forced my way with Spawn the entire weapon master mode to 100% and loved every second of it. SC3 though has so much content in its damn near criminal. It also holds up immensely well in pcsx2 emulators. It'll always take me back to an era where games really came out full to the brim with content and it was unique and fun
This is what happens when the main character doubles as being critical to the lore but treated like eye candy by the devs... people don't take her seriously
@@ubergamer2010 ehhhh nah. If that was the case Kasumi from DOA would be ignored too. Also, not taking a woman seriously because what she is wearing/looks like is not cool.
@@Niosai she’s still the main character that defeats inferno Cervantes in SC6 haha, her children were the main characters in 5 and her form was the main villain. And in 4 she was soul edges protector, and mother to its new host since 2/3. The Alexandra’s are the mishimas of SC they even have a wave dash! Haha
Actually, Amy was the youngest being 14 as opposed to Talim being 15. We did get 31-year-old Amy as Viola in SC5 but missed out on 32-year-old Talim. I guess possibly having a kid made her lose her wind priestess abilities.
Soul Calibur three has been one of my favorite games since I was a child, nothing in the series has ever interested me the way it has, and I'm so glad to see it talked about, even if it's only a portion of the video. Great vid!
Been a huge Soulcalibur fan for almost 20 years, first with SC2, and I own and have extensively played every mainline game in the series. SC3 has always been my absolute favorite; I'm largely an RPG player, and customizing characters (both original creations and recreating things like your favorite FF characters) has always had huge appeal to me. While later games, 5 and 6 especially, would vastly improve the overall quality of the custom characters and the options, SC3 has a special place for being the first and having special quirks and attachments; the alignment determining voices in SC3 was actually pretty huge. There were only 4 voices per gender for custom characters, one of which was an over-the-top old person, but the four sets of lines for each voice, Light-Hot, Light-Cold, Dark-Hot, and Dark-Cold, as I referred to them, made each voice sound distinctly unique and gave you 12-16 (depending on how much you could get into the over-the-top old voices) entirely different voices to help customize each character. Furthermore, SC3 had Chronicles of the Sword, the best SC game mode ever made, something I have literally spent thousands of hours playing, with the ability to make entirely new sets of custom parties with such a wide variety of weapons and skill sets; a game mode I love so much I became the world's only known speedrunner of that specific game mode. Four and 5 both disappointed for all the reasons Niosai mentioned here, with equipment controlling stats in 4 and 5 just not having any interesting content to use all those custom characters of, and the fact that with a new roster with new characters the new Eastern Trio (Quartet, actually, in this case) of Xiba, Leixia, Natsu (and old man helper Maxi) did pretty much nothing in the only story mode the game had meant there was no way for the community to become attached to these new characters. And after years of silence from the series, we finally got the new SC we all needed and wanted with the series-rebooting SC6, which was nearly perfection--the only reason I still rate 3 higher is because I am just that obsessed with CotS. Libra of Souls is an okay replacement, but still doesn't have the same feeling. But the characters, customization, stories, and everything else was the highest quality, and I had no issues buying those season passes to get the whole swelling roster. The only drawback seems to be that, while SC6 sold well, it apparently has not sold well enough to convince Namco to continue this awesome rebooted timeline and enhanced story, and 5 years later there's still not the hint of a seventh game coming. Naturally, a 7th continuing the series is at the top of any SC fan's wishlist, but I would also be satisfied if they'd give SC3 an HD remaster on modern systems similar to what SC1 and 2 received years earlier; not only because it's my favorite, but also because it's criminally unknown outside of the PS2-playing crowd of the day or real diehard SC fans. The fact that it was released only for PS2 while 2, 4, 5, and 6 were all released for multiple consoles means that any SC fans who never owned a PS console would never get it, and even among those who did, thousands accidentally unlocked a save-data eating bug that ruined their chance to really enjoy the game. It deserves a remaster to bring it back out for more to enjoy and rediscover today. My final genie wish for the SC series would be a standalone expansion of the Chronicles of the Sword mode, a game dedicated just to this gameplay style AND its world and lore, introducing fully fleshed-out and balanced versions of weapon styles totally different from the main SC cast with special focus on the inherently unique SC3 custom character styles (Tambourines, Grieve Edge, Wave Swords, we're looking at you). A more in-depth battle map and strategic battle system in the world of the nations of Grandall, Dalkia and Halteese with enhanced cutscenes and new modern voice acting and graphics, a fresh take on SC combat with different moves sets, and a more detailed look at this unique world they invented just for this game mode--that is my ultimate dream game.
@@AmotivatedIndividual I'm always down for as many characters as possible, even if many have to be added as DLC/Season Pass additions later--I'm not a big fan of Yun-Seong, for instance, but I was still bummed we never got him in SC6. More weapons would always be fun (SC2 was the big leader there, so many weapons!), and I've always been a fan of special effects on weapons--while I think I know the logic behind it, I was a little sad SC6 only had (random) effects on weapons for Libra of Souls and didn't have any special effects for use in story or arcade modes. I wouldn't mind them keeping 6's model for main story mode, with a SC5-light main story but then individual stories for every character so each has a presence and personality in the game. Game modes are the lowest in my list of desires, but if we're going whole hog and just saying 'Okay, extra game modes like survivor or coin mode/other mini-games from SC3 and earlier ones?' I say yes, give me those two, they're another fun distraction from the big content.
Soul calibur(first to recent: 3,4,2,1,5,6)got me into the idea of actually learning martial arts and history. Killik specifically(closest i got to without having to devote my life to a temple was Okinawan kobudo, but still loved it.) I loved how immersive these games felt and how much the characters stood out overall. Such a great series.
Fun Fact! All of Lloyd's weapons are named after the ones he can obtain in his home game, and some of his attacks are, of course, based on some Artes he has! It's also implied this takes place in-between Tales of Symphonia and Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World.
Soul Blade (Edge) was my first game on the PlayStation! My school friend had Soul Calibur on DreamCast, I played the later games here and there but moved on from gaming in my 20s. This series has always had a special place in my heart, and considering the rich history it’s shocking it hasn’t had an anime adaption.
Man, Legends breaks my godsdamned heart, an action-rpg soulcalibur spinoff is such a great idea, but it was so heavily held back by being on the Wii. I hope they take another swing at the idea sometime, but I doubt it. Anyways, fantastic video going over every game in this wonderful franchise, here's hoping we get the next game soon
You’ve glossed over this, but the reason why soul edge suffered a _slight_ name change was because back in the day there was a magazine called _edge_ that was suing anything with the name _edge_ in it…they’re gone now
Great video! I was happy to see you Stan Soulcalibur V a little bit. The game is criminally underrated and there's a lot of herd mentality going on there. It takes some getting used to, but the EX moves, deep combo and defense mechanics, incredible customization, creative new fighting styles, and some of the most beautiful and immersive graphics in a 3D fighter really make it a special game.
Someone may have mentioned this already but Nobuyuki Hiyama also voices Siegfried so you'd be having a funny VA mirror match with Link and Siegfried in the Game Cube SC2. Another notable character he's voiced is Hiei from Yu Yu Hakusho. He's a stellar voice actor as one would expect.
you are correct about soulcalibur legends if it were mapped to traditional controls. you actually end up having far more access to more combos and chains as a result as attacks seem to go beyond just one type of horizontal but even left and right swinging attacks for instance. as for opening direction in Soulcalibur 1, it’s actually an opening character replacement mode. You can replace Sophitia when she stands up in the grassy plains with someone else like Astaroth for instance.
Soulcalibur is my favorite fighting franchise ever!!! I own all the games (all first print and factory sealed), all the limited edition guides, all the soundtracks, prerelease promo discs and much more! I spent a lot of money, but i just love this franchise so much. My favorite will always be soulcalibur iii, it's just so rich in everything, soulcalibur ii is a close second, it was also my first ever game that i played of them all, i really want namco bandai to do a soulcalibur vii, i really do, i'll buy everything two times, one copy to play and the other for my sealed collection, my favorite characters are Ivy and voldo, they are so cool and unique, i wanted to say so much mroe but my broken english is.... Broken lol, thank you for making this video, it's always nice to see love for this series
absolutely love soulcalibur, even if i still haven't played IV and V, i just absolutely love this series it's so fun, so goofy, so serious, so weird, all at the same time, and even when at it's lowest, it's still entertaining! (well, i mean, it's the same with pokémon for me lol) really hoping we get a soulcalibur VII, and even more that it comes to the newest nintendo console, whether that be the switch or not
Sc 2 to 3 had some major changes SC3 introduced the concept that hitting a opponents i. stun opponent will allow moves that normally only stun on counter hit to apply the stun state. This allowed for that chaining stun combos you often see in 3-6. 30also change how walls work. In 2 getting hit into a wall dealt additional.damage and left you in vulnerable but you could tech off them to avoid follows while 3 lead to more combos either by getting stunned from getting hit into the wall or bouncing off it. Also getting hit while tech rolling from the ground was change. Moves that launch would not launch people who were caught rolling in 2 but could relaunch on people rolling or even ukeming/quick teching in 3
Great video! Soul Calibur is my favorite fighting game series, besides Mortal Kombat. I like how newbie-friendly the gameplay is and the lore is incredibly interesting. Same with the character creation, its one of my favorite features! My favorite will always be SC3 but I've enjoyed them all and I hope we get a new game in the future.
I didn't know there were SO MANY Soul Calibur games! it was a pleasant surprise, including most of them to my wishlist. It'd be awesome if they ever make one for the Nintendo Switch.
SOUL CALIBER !! Easily the coolest fighting game series outside of smash imo! I like your videos because they're informative and long: perfect to listen to while I'm doing other things!
On the subject of IV's opening, the gallery mode lets you put a custom character in place of the guest characters' segment, which is really something they should've made happen upon actual startup.
Finally some Soul Calibur V love! Its the game that got me into the franchise and while the story and new characters are the biggest issue fans have with V, it was my first game in the series so i have nostalgic bias for it, in fact its character creator helped me in becoming a character designer, take it how you may.
@@Niosai yea definitely doesn't, but I've never seen Darth Vader in a 2d fighting game until that point. It was an awesome experience nonetheless Edit: I know soul Calibur isn't exactly 2d but you get what I mean
Hello. What can I tell you? A simple thank you would not be enough for this nostalgia trip through one of my favorite video game franchises. As someone who played from Soul Edge to Soulcalibur 3, I can say that the latter was my favorite because of everything you could do. Many thanks and a strong hug.
I got a lot of content ideas for a sc7 game, but one of the ones I would love to see would be another chronicles of the sword, that would be epic af!!!
thank you so much for posting this video! soul cal has been my favorite franchise since i first picked up a controller at 3 years old! please make more soul cal content! i'm here for all of it!
In edge master mode, when you turned the page and the new weapon pops up and you get that satisfying blade clash sound effect, plus seeing how cool the new weapon looks? Pure dopamine hit.
I think the biggest mistake SC made was goung exclusive to ps2 in SC3. It feels like after SC2 the series had all the momentum and then like 30% of gamers couldn't even acceees the sequel. I know, that still the majority but sc4 didn't feel like as big if a deal and sc5 and 6 just flopped...
Thats factually incorrect. The entire world had a ps2 at the time. You are speaking as if ps2 was the minority when it was how most people played games. I love the GameCube but it just didn't sell.
As one of the millions who had a PS2 (the best selling game console of all time) it didn't matter to me that SC3 was Soulcalibur exclusive, but I feel the pain of the GCN and XBX SC2 fans who couldn't get their hands on it. They wanted to focus on maximizing the amount of stuff they could put in 3 and make it as awesome as possible (and in my opinion they did it), and since that meant they pretty much had to dedicate it to only one console the PS2 was the clear right choice, but it's also true that going console exclusive was still a bit disappointing for fans of the series overall. SC3 seriously deserves a remaster on modern platforms, for its original fans, for those SC fans who never had a PS2 to play it, and for all the players who had their save data ruined by the infamous data-deleting bug and permanently lost their playthroughs.
Yep. It's so sad I missed SC3 because I only had an Xbox at the time. That game seemed like a great expansion with all the new modes and even characted creation
the Intro song for Soulblade/edge is Called "Edge of Soul" and its a banger. Honestly would love to see a a modern cover on the song for a future game if they ever decided Soul Calibur 6 isn't where the series ends.
I have such a long story with soul Calibur. One of the first titles I got into as a kid. Even before Tekken. Introduced me to Yoshinitsu. And fell in love with Bandai Namco's games as a whole. Thanks for covering this
Ah, SC3, packed with one of the most infamous bugs of all time in thr Chronicles of the sword mode... Such good memories. But that save bomb bug was nasty
@@ZirixStrarstrider the savebomb DEVASTATED ME as a child, i had my first save bomb on the 2nd to last mission. and only found out what caused it after my ps2 no longer worked
@@Leeloo-Foxx I feel you. I was on Strife the time that happened, the first time that happened. And i was so mad, that i broke the case of the game in 'vengeance' Took me a lot of years to finally beat the mode completly, after i emulated it when i bought SC4 with my first PS3.
4:00 Does anyone know where Cervantes' second skin's icon comes from? AFAIK Cervantes had a greener second Pirate skin in the console game but he didn't have a second icon like that, instead he would have the masked Cervantes skin which I assume was the pre-Soul Edge version of him.
I'm not suprised he still didn't know that Broken Destiny's Gauntlet mode is supposed to be a follow-up to SC4's "Exciting! SoulCalibur Dojo" omake comic, since that's where the Cassandra & Hilde duo came from. Also, the dialogues each time you fail are hilarious and worth reading.
Soul blade and especially Soul calibur 1 on dreamcast were seminal moments of my childhood. SC1 in particular blew my mind at the time with the fidelity of the dreamcast port due to only being used to n64 and ps1 graphics. It was like seeing a good looking ps2 game years before ps2 would gain major traction and still holds up well today at much higher resolutions through emulation. I am sad soul blade and especially soul calibur 1 dont get the recognition they deserve despite being critically acclaimed groundbreaking titles. But i think that's largely because it was a bit too early for younger segments of gaming community. And they were only on one console each. Especially soul calibur which obviously was a dreamcast exclusive compared to soul calibur 2 which came out when ps2 gamecube and Xbox were all going strong. A much wider audience means much greater exposure after all.
Soul Blade was reasonably acclaimed for its time, at least enough to warrant a sequel. SC1 was where the series really took off in regards to critical acclaim though, and for good reason. SC1 is still talked about to this day as one of the best fighting games ever made. SC2 came off the success of SC1 but now it was released on platforms people actually owned, as well as the inclusion of the guest characters really helped push the SC series into the limelight. Unfortunately the series gradually faded from the mainstream afterwards. SC3's PS2 exclusivity seriously restricted its sales potential, and the reception from diehard fans didn't help the series' brand name. SC4 tried to pull a SC2 with the multiplatform releases and popular guest characters, but the damage was already done. Plus, SC4 was going up against heavy hitters like Tekken 6, Virtua Fighter 5, and especially Street Fighter IV. The gameplay was also beginning to feel stale in the eyes of most critics. By the time SC5 was released, the series was pretty much on life support and unfortunately it really showed when it came to how obviously rushed and lacking in content the game was (although this was the first and maybe only SC game to feature near flawless online versus). SC6 did the soft reboot thing, bringing back the most iconic characters and storyline from the original SC1 (yet strangely was still called Soulcalibur 6), yet unlike SC4 and SC5, the graphics were no longer as impressive as they once were, looking and feeling decidedly 'last-gen'. While critical reception was overall poritive, SC6 was hardly the big series rebirth that I'm sure Bamco wanted (and needed) it to be. While I appreciate the bigger focus on single-player content and the awesome character creator, the game really is just starting to feel 'stale', even for me as a longtime fan. So, back in the day, SC was definitely one of the most recognized fighting game series during its heyday, but the lackluster performance of the later games has kinda tarnished the reputation of the series as a whole it seems. Which isn't to say that the later games are bad by any means, but due to a number of circumstances - odd business and marketing decisions, the series has just been unable to keep up with the heavy hitters of modern times. Could the series ever make a comeback? Maybe. But I think it would take something like a 'true' reboot, with a new engine and graphical style, actually updated animations and meaningful new gameplay feel that doesn't feel forced or overly complicated (and maybe not be called Soulcalibur 7). Perhaps a reboot of the original Soul Blade/Edge? A man can dream.
I have been a HUGE fan since 2 and even today SCIII is still my favorite! It has beards in CAS and the amount of characters is insane! Crazy how they add less and less characters. They already have em. Use em.
This was so cool to see, Niosai! I remember being absolutely in love with SC4 when it came out, but that's probably because it's the first one that I actually owned myself lol. Keep on improving, and making great videos!
One thing I hope they do some day is a Tekken vs Soul Calibur game. Bringing Tekken’s massive variety of hand-to-hand fighting styles to Soul Calibur’s character creator system seems like it’d be super fun. Bonus points if they also have tag team mechanics, since both series have used them before, and that’d make both the crossover and the character creator elements extra fun.
I mean you kinda sorta get that with Heihachi in 2? 😅 But I totally get what you mean, it'd be a cool crossover and Bandai Namco owns all the characters so it wouldn't be a legal hurdle or anything
@@Niosai yeah, I was talking less “single guest character” and more “half the roster is Tekken, half is Soul Calibur” lol. Though I wonder who would get custody of Yoshimitsu? He was in Tekken first, but he matches Soul Calibur’s vibes a bit better, being a sword fighter and all. Or maybe the game would just have an odd number of characters, with him as the odd one out.
My older brother and I have been talking about this idea for years. It's probably only ever going to be a pipedream given how elitist hardcore Tekken fans tend to be. They look down on every interesting potential crossover besides Virtual Fighter.
52:17 actually the story mode of SCV isn’t even fully fleshed out. The writer had to cut out most of his plans for the story to rush the game out to release unfortunately. Also Zasalamel’s name could be found in the files, so he likely would’ve been playable if Namco didn’t make the devs rush the release.
Soooo something that ya didn't cover was Sould Calibur 2 Arcade's Conquest Mode. It's something that you can only experience in the Physical Arcade Only. It was basically like the Heros and Heralds from UMVC2 or even Mk's Factions. Basically you could raise your own Soul Calibur character from the main roster and have them "Defend" your Kingdom. The arcade did a pretty good job of saving your "Ghost Data" from matches. You could also try to takedown the other "kingdom's" Top fighters at any time. I was Top 3 for my Kingdom despite not having too much money to spend at the Arcade at the time Rank 1- 31,000 battles Rank 2 - 17000 battles Rank 3 - (Me) 570 battles :P . But I also won a few Tourneys back in the day so my Mitsurugi was a beast.
I can tell you more about the Chronicles of the Sword mode, but it contains spoilers to a well written story. I played the game mode so much that my character is Lv.90+ Broken!! Once again, SPOILERS: You started off as a cadet with 2 more skilled(dope) warriors Aeneas (clutch #1) and Riese (Rolling Thunder) and your mentor Girardot. Your tutorial starts with a battle against your rival Abelia (Loyal). You could follow her guidance, but if you're a veteran, you can get a dialog of Abelia frustrated that you split your unit up. I'm not going to full details because it will take a lot of typing. Your final graduation exam is a showdown against your mentor Girardot. Girardot will congratulate your unit and you're off to your first battle the next chapter. The difficulty does get intense by the progression of the story as you earn respect from your comrades by each victory serving your country and your name is being echoed across the land as many named you "Warlord". The name strike interest from many combatants who are eager to take a shot against the rising star of war and no one as eager than the fisty (Rival #2) firecracker Luna and her sailor scouts I-I mean Moon guardians haha. You clashed with her unit 4 times and each fight turned into rivals to something much more (love developed in a heat of battle) Did I forget that in the final showdown against her unit she's welding SOUL CALIBUR!! Oh I also forgot If you play or have Abelia in your squad Her and Luna also have a heated rivalry but Luna not interested in someone she already defeated and saved by the cadet, after the final showdown Luna and the Moon Guardians admitted defeat (for the last time) some thing is brewing in your own home country's kingdom. Your mentor Girardot investigated Emperor Strife. What triggered the investigation was the Emperor change of personality and actions it became more evil and more cold. As you returned from the battle your squad gained information that your mentor Girardot has disappeared and started a rebel army and not only that Emperor strife ordered you to not capture but to take the head of your mentor. Just like the cadet, I was also conflicted and confused. The cadet definitely expressed that in the dialog before the final showdown against Mentor Girardot. General Girardot is very strategic with his planning and will catch you by surprise if you follow his trap. If you get through his trap, he will have a trump card waiting. He has a battlefield effect that puts him on broly mode , so he ignores the player attacks but still takes damage. After the battle your mentor Girardot has given you one final question "what or whom are you fighting for and find your true destiny" after those words Emperor Strife strike the decisive blow to General Girardot ending his life...WITH SOUL EDGE!? Once again, both the cadet and I were shocked that the Emperor had the cursed sword in his possession!! After days or month of inner conflicting thoughts the cadet made his decision and changed his destiny by following his General footsteps and change history by dethrone The Evil Emperor Strife as the cadet disappeared from Emperor Strife's kingdom. I'm going to pause right there because I forgot to talk about the 3rd rival King Chester. He's pretty much the catalyst that started the war, he's a double agent and a snake 🐍 he only desired power and control of the kingdoms thus setting off the war there's more to his character in the story. Also Mooncalf (Luna's mother) her story is very tragic along with her relationship with her battle hardend daughter you could only fight her twice but sadly she was executed by King Chester before the third battle ever started (I have respect for her because she gave me a fight R.I.P 😢 💔 ). King Demuth, or should I say false King Demuth. As the cadet and the unit were kicking ass and gaining reputation, we were knocking on the mad king's door in his kingdom. He got betrayed and thrown in the mist of war by Chester and others lol. He was light work compared to his knight Hyle. Knight Hyle was tough, just like Mooncalf You. Are. In. For. A. Fight. Gladiator Style!! After the fight against those two, you will get ambushed because Chester or the leader, who name I forgot, will order the kitchen sink and throw it at the Warlord Cadet (first time playing 😱 vs Veteran 😅). Who else I'm missing, oh the queen just like the madness King Demuth she talked a big game but she was light work as well. Now, let's go back to the cadet and finish this great story. The Warlord cadet pointed his sword at Emperor Strife but before that he have to atonement his sins with the rebel army...starting with this Abelia, Sora from Kingdom Hearts Wannabe Shota ass Big Eye zabumafu looking brat named Feofan (No respect to that kid). With Feofan in the unit, the cadet created a ruckus that caught Emperor Strife's notice. The Emperor wants the cadet's head and orders his former comrades to go out and collect... The Emperor Strife Army vs. The Rebel Army, the flames of war are back on!! Aeneas, Riese, and other comrades are in disbelief and conflicted to go into battle against a comrade that they have gone through the trenches with their new General gave them shards of the evil blade to ease (control) their minds. After the cadet knocked some senses to his comrades, now they have known just how far gone Emperor Strife and the kingdom corruption. Aeneas, Riese, and the unit fighting together once again as they take on The corrupt Emperor Strife and his army. Soon, an unexpected surprise came to the cadet's aid, and it's none other than Luna who have gifted the cadet The Holy Blade Soul Calibur. She was following orders from the late General Girardot as he told her to look after the cadet (so he knew 🥹🫡). With Luna joining the ranks, the Warlord cadet unit has strengthened even more. There was one mission that ordered the capture of the cadet, so playing as yourself at that battle was one and done. Afterwards, it's a showdown against a conflicted saddened rival...Abelia. This showdown will end where it begins with the two, but this time, the landscape expanded for war. Just like the Luna fight you will get dialog from both Luna and Abelia but original choice is cadet and an emotional conflicted Abelia 1-on-1 for the last time in a battle which starts all conflicts, who is wrong and who is right? After the emotional battle against Abelia, she admitted defeat and joined the ranks of the rebel army. The next battle is against King Chester, the catalyst, for the final time. No more being mysterious, no more hints, This is him in his truest form as he no longer has any use for the Warlord cadet. After slaying another king, there's only one king left... Emperor Strife. The stage of destiny and history have been set. All the cast are here it's time for the final showdown to end all wars, the cadet vs. Emperor Strife. The battle is way intense. I recommend playing this on simulation until you are forced to battle against the corrupt Emperor Strife, but your unit has to survive against his toughest soldiers. After the corrupt Emperor Strife is dead by the hands of the Warlord cadet and the rebel army, the cadet disappeared from the flames of war in possession of both the cursed and holy swords. People are devastated by the memories of the terrible war but soon rebuild a new era. Abelia is seen helping with the rebuild but no signs of the cadet, which made her saddened. Next was Luna outside of her battle clothing with a dress waiting for the cadet. As other men returned back to their loved ones, there was a lonely Luna with no cadet in sight except for a statue in memorabilia of the Warlord cadet who had changed history and fulfilled his destiny. - Chronicles of the Sword: END
I have a love/hate relationship with the SoulCalibur series What I love are all the different characters, playstyles, art style and ease of entry What I hate is the lack of moveset consistency between games. For example, Taki's ground spark changes commands or properties every single game. You can go from one Street Fighter game to another and know that Ryu's Hadoken is the same motion with the same properties; this just doesn't happen in the SoulCal series
Opening Direction isn't just viewing the opening. As the name suggest, it allows you to direct the opening by changing which characters appear at different points and such.
Finally some justice for SC3. I never understood why it was disliked at launch or why it seemed to remain a black sheep of the franchise for many years. It’s SC2, but with tons of fun single player additions! What’s not to love?
man you made reinstall soul calibur 6 and play some Taki. I might have to plug in gamecube to just so I can experiance some Yun seong to. Great vid soul calibur is probably one of my favourite fighting games and really hope it doesnt get lost to history
Yeah Szc2 is my fav too in terms of the gameplay balance, perfect degree of depth without being overly complicated with unnecessary super meters and gaudy armor 'breaking'. It also featured my favorite renditions of my two mains, Cervantes and Siegfried/Nightmare. I also agree that SC5 wasn't the terrible game everyone ikes to call it - though I do understand the hate. The game is clearly rushed and unfinished. The roster is a joke and 2/3rds of the characters don't even have a story in any capacity. However I do feel like the gameplaynwas actually fairly solid, and I know I just dunked on the whole 'super meters' inclusion in the series, and while I do think they could have come up with something better, its inclusion here wasn't 'too bad'. Then again, I might just be more lenient on SC5 simply because I cheesed the f out of people online with Cervantes and especially Algol (and the fact that the online was actually good, let alone playable). Also the fact that my mains weren't cut, lol.
The only thing I’ll say about the critical finish system in SC4, is that it was pretty hype when you managed to get one off in online, although I only ever managed to pull it off once.
Allow me to fill in some blanks here: SC2 in the arcades had a special mode that was exclusive to arcades called Conquest Mode. It was basically a ghost battle type thing where you fought against other players' overpowered ghosts, which served to train your ghost. Depending on your ghost's performance you would obtain a percentage of land for your "nation". The mode was pretty much endless but it was always fun going into an arcade and seeing how much land your character had conquered while you were away. Also SC3 in the arcades had a few more characters than the console version, like fully-realized not-generic versions of Amy, Hwang, and Li Long. It also had bugfixes that were sorely needed in the console version and its own Conquest Mode as well. Unfortunately I never had a chance to play it myself, because it came out at a time where arcades were extremely dead.
Not only does Chronicles of the Sword have an immense amount of content but it also has an infamous glitch where you can lose all your data from corruption.
Totally agree with how good Soul Calibur VI is. I played it to death when it first came out, completing the Platinum achievement within the space of a week and playing everything each DLC character had to offer.
I actually deeply invested myself in Soul Calibur 4's RPG character creator. The trade off debuffs on cool looking equipment was frustrating but I came out the other end able to reach the end of the top of the soul tower and the bottom, it's survival mode. I just had nothing better to do while unemployed and ended up putting the most time into 4 out of the whole series, with 2 on the game cube being a close second.
The arcade version of SC2 had an additional mode called Conquest, where every player would pick a fighter and have that fighter join one of three armies. Each army controlled a portion of a map and you would select an army to challenge and fight eight characters from that army. Every victory would contribute to your army’s progress until only one army remained. What I loved about this mode is that all the characters in each army are made by the players. You aren’t playing against the players themselves (the AI controls them), but the AI tries to mimic your play style, so when your character is challenged, it is trying to play like you would. At the end of the your eight fights, there is a bonus fight where you get to fight your AI controlled character and see how you will be portrayed when other players challenge your army. Additionally, the more you play on that arcade machine, and the better your win/loss ratio, the higher your character advances in the army and the stronger they become. I personally loved the mode. I wish it was still around.
I can not tell you how many hours me and my friends spent on Soul Blade when we were kids. It was OUR fighting game. Each of us had our own characters we were good with and we practiced for hours and hours to get skilled enough to beat eachother. At sleepovers we would play all day long until 2am playing matches over and over again. I was Mitsurugi, one of my friends was Siegfried and one was Voldo. We rarely changed characters unless we were trying to counter a new strategy that the other came up with. Man, what an amazing game.
My favorite and now, only fighting series I play. Will say, miss Just Guards, wish they kept it. Love the story of Siegfried and Nightmare. Great great video
Fun fact: SoulCalibur II's guest character for the PS2 was originally going to be Cloud Strife, but for unknown reasons Square Enix backed out last second so Namco just stuck Heihachi in bc they were already making Tekken 4 at the time and already owned the licensing.
Thanks for making this video. I hope Project Soul reflects on their past projects to really understand what was good and what was bad to make a really awesome soul calibur 7.
@@Niosai Last year, Bandai Namco has renewed trademarks for such series as Tekken , Soul Calibur , Pac-Man , and Ace Сombat. Also for some reason they removed SCI & II from online marketplace, you can search for "Soulcalibur collection". But also yeah if it's an entire collection including all SC's it would be a bit too good to be true.
Though shown, he never mentions the first guest character of VI being Geralt of Rivia from the Witcher series. Even without the inclusion of Link, there were some crazy hype battles in Soul Calibur 2 HD between me and my friends. Hours would fly by as the controllers got passed around and someone would get on a hot streak and we'd wonder who was gonna take them down or how many battles in a row they would win.
SCV was the first SC my sister and I was introduced to, we loved it, we also love SCVI but we missed the story telling style of V; 3d and artwork style that felt more dynamic in sort way. But other than that we love it.
Finally someone understands and appreciates Soul Calibur 3's Chronicles Of The Sword. With newer games its easy to overlook this. But for the time it was perfect.
Chronicles of the Sword in SC3 is my favourite single player mode in any fighting game ever. Can’t even count how many times I’ve completed and replayed it
@Niosai I've only played 2 & 5 personally. 5 is essentially tekken but not as good, in my opinion. As for 2, while loved by many, I found it very difficult to play in regards to its controls and difficulty. It's honestly up to you if you want to tackle the series.
SC4 was my jam. I am/was an Astaroth main. Disciple, Algol and Nightmare were very fun to play. Maxi was the buttonmash character and raphael the noobstomper. Necrit from SC2 was cool. I have lots of fond memories playing GTA San Andreas or Soulcalibur 2. We listened to linking park played Magic and were outside a lot at the time. It must have been around 2002-2005.
SC4 and SC5 both had a LOT of DLC edit parts, all of which are lost to delistings, but most of it was copy/pasted from the previous games over and over.
I honestly hope Soul calibur 7 is a mix of tekken 7-8's combat galore but with soul calibur 6's narrative and char customization, because i really loved the story beats in 6.
Soul Calibur 6 is my favorite, 3 is a fantastic runner up. Nightmare and Xianghua have been my mains and favorites since 2. My favorite guest character is 2B.

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
-Romans 12:2
When the Bible speaks of the world, it’s speaking of a culture that is largely hostile to God. That culture is on television, in the music you listen to, and in movie theaters. It’s a culture that basically says, “Do what you want to do. Please yourself. Do whatever it takes. The ends justify the means.”
But the Bible tells us, “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think” (Romans 12:2).
Another version puts it this way: “Don’t let the world around you squeeze you into its own mould.”
All too often believers allow the world to influence them more than they’re influencing the world.
Romans 12:2 goes on to say, “Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect”
God’s will is good.
The Lord will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right”
If the Bible tells us to stay away from a certain thing, it is for our own good.
Hell yeah! If we could ever get Guts, Cloud or Sephiroth into a game, it would truly be a dream come true!
Brand new female characters from both brand new countries (such as Egypt, Ukraine, Russia, Turkey, Mexico, Vietnam, and New Zealand) and old countries (such as Japan and the United Kingdom), since we didn’t have any in Soulcalibur VI!
I think you willed Broken Destiny into a re release on PS4 & PS5. I'm just gonna say it.
I forgot how much content SC3 had even compare to later sc games. Wished Chronicles of the Sword made a comeback. Such a cool addition that shouldn't get left behind for this game only.
It's legitimately impressive. Kinda weird we haven't ever gotten any kind of remaster, though
@@d.o.1554it infamously had next to no budget
The last Soul Caliber I played was Soul Caliber 4 because I was so disappointed that it didn't have the Chronicles of the Sword mode that I don't think I've played one since

Yoshimitsu is a title passed down from wacky samurai to wacky samurai over generations. His first appearance in a game was in Tekken 1, so he’s technically a guest character from Tekken, but he’s a staple in both series. Soul Calibur explores the lives of the first two Yoshimitsus, while the one in Tekken is many, many generations down the line.
Super interesting! Do you think a Soulcalibur x Tekken could pull off 2 Yoshimitsus? 👀
to add to this, Yoshimitsu's clan is mentioned across both series when they clash in Project X Zone 2 in late 2015.
Yeah I still enjoy the game now and then.
I still play SC6 time by time but you're right, the lack of rollback netcode killed it
whats bamco? isnt it namco?

Chronicles of the sword mode in SC3 is super underrated and could of been a game in itself I loved that game mode and spent so many hours in it lol
Did you ever beat the prince?
@@matthewchristian9591Strife? lol the Great Sword discipline had some pretty nifty/busted moves ngl
@thorfinnskuII I can't remember his name it was the final boss of the game. It was ridiculous like 20 enemies then him and no where to heal.
Therefore, the Tekken version of the character is implied to have inherited the mantle in a similar way
I don't know enough about Tekken and Soulcalibur lore to know, but is it possible they're in the same universe??
@@NiosaiI would honestly like to think they are and it'd honestly be nice 😭
@Niosai honestly I don't know but the main antagonist of tekken was also in soul caliber so maybe
This needs to be pinned.
He probably played the kililk individualstory by accident
Impressive comment 🤝🫡
Soul Calibur doesn't get enough love as a series. Fantastic video
Agreed! And thank you :)
SC3 my beloved. I loved 2 and its where my journey began. I brute forced my way with Spawn the entire weapon master mode to 100% and loved every second of it. SC3 though has so much content in its damn near criminal. It also holds up immensely well in pcsx2 emulators. It'll always take me back to an era where games really came out full to the brim with content and it was unique and fun
i still play it on pcsx2 to this day
Not mentioning sophitia in the notable soul edge characters is WILD. She’s the main character!
I guess I was more looking at the series' modern marketing than anything else 😅
@@Niosai she’s still the main character that defeats inferno Cervantes in SC6 haha, her children were the main characters in 5 and her form was the main villain. And in 4 she was soul edges protector, and mother to its new host since 2/3. The Alexandra’s are the mishimas of SC they even have a wave dash! Haha
@@Niosai But the reveal trailer for 6 was literally Mitsurugi vs Sophitia, the collector's edition came with a STATUE of her lol.
SC5: let's jump ahead a few decades.
Talim (who's the youngest character in SC): that means I'm going to be in the game, right?
This raises an interesting question: How is a new dimension functionally different from a new timeline?
Whoever directed SC5 should have been fired
Actually, Amy was the youngest being 14 as opposed to Talim being 15. We did get 31-year-old Amy as Viola in SC5 but missed out on 32-year-old Talim. I guess possibly having a kid made her lose her wind priestess abilities.
Soul Calibur three has been one of my favorite games since I was a child, nothing in the series has ever interested me the way it has, and I'm so glad to see it talked about, even if it's only a portion of the video. Great vid!
Really awesome to hear about your experience :)
Is there anything else you want from SC7 maybe even for the main cast? Ex. Modes, weapons or even story
15:00 - fun fact: Nobuyuki Hiyama also voices Nightmare
I believe he still does to this day right?
@@Niosai I THINK so!
Fun Fact! All of Lloyd's weapons are named after the ones he can obtain in his home game, and some of his attacks are, of course, based on some Artes he has! It's also implied this takes place in-between Tales of Symphonia and Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World.
Wait is Lloyd's story meant to be canon to the Tales games??
I agree 100%. They could make a huge RPG in the Soulcalibur setting, it just needs the right gameplay style.
Heh. Swing
You’ve glossed over this, but the reason why soul edge suffered a _slight_ name change was because back in the day there was a magazine called _edge_ that was suing anything with the name _edge_ in it…they’re gone now
I believe it was actually one specific guy who worked for a game company called Edge Games!
Soul Calibur 6 is definitely my favorite next to the 2nd game. Great video man, it’s POG to see you grow over the years 💙
I can't put the Uno reverse card gif in a UA-cam comment but pretend I did 😎
@@Niosai 💙
Broken lol, thank you for making this video, it's always nice to see love for this series
absolutely love soulcalibur, even if i still haven't played IV and V, i just absolutely love this series
it's so fun, so goofy, so serious, so weird, all at the same time, and even when at it's lowest, it's still entertaining! (well, i mean, it's the same with pokémon for me lol)
really hoping we get a soulcalibur VII, and even more that it comes to the newest nintendo console, whether that be the switch or not
Sc 2 to 3 had some major changes
SC3 introduced the concept that hitting a opponents i. stun opponent will allow moves that normally only stun on counter hit to apply the stun state.
BotW Link as a guest character would be legit
I'm as old as this franchise, but no matter how long it goes on. The soul will still burn
SOUL CALIBER !!
Easily the coolest fighting game series outside of smash imo!
I like your videos because they're informative and long: perfect to listen to while I'm doing other things!
If I can be the background noise to your tasks, that would be the greatest honor 😎
On the subject of IV's opening, the gallery mode lets you put a custom character in place of the guest characters' segment, which is really something they should've made happen upon actual startup.
I didn't even see that! I'm gonna have to go back and check that out
I absolutely love Soul Calibur 5. It was the first SC game I played and I remember spending hours just to make my own characters.
Some of these character designs really do actually make my soul edge
🤔
Glad you dont completely bash SC5, it had issues but I loved its design. Pity we didn't get the full scope of what they wanted to go with
Time is ripe for SoulCal 7
For real!
Let's hope it doesn't have a bargain bin budget this time and that they give everyone cooler outfits like Raphael he looked terrible in 6.
I would like a Soul Caliber collection 1-6 HD remastered
Mitsurugis fighting style Peaked in SCIV. I really wish the next game in the franchise has him feeling like that.
Finally some Soul Calibur V love! Its the game that got me into the franchise and while the story and new characters are the biggest issue fans have with V, it was my first game in the series so i have nostalgic bias for it, in fact its character creator helped me in becoming a character designer, take it how you may.
Having darth Vader as a cameo in this game was one of the best choices they couldve ever made.
While it makes no sense, it's still really cool!
@@Niosai yea definitely doesn't, but I've never seen Darth Vader in a 2d fighting game until that point. It was an awesome experience nonetheless
Edit: I know soul Calibur isn't exactly 2d but you get what I mean
What would really be crazy (but also cool) is if they introduce either RoboCop or Judge Dredd as a guest in a future title.
Soulcalibur III was so good.
AI Setsuka taught me humility.
She was a very thorough teacher.
Soul caliber 4 will forever be my favorite I remember staying up late at night doing nothing buy online battles lol
I love this series. I hope Soul Calibur 7 does happen. But if it does, I hope it does what Street Fighter 6 did for that series.
Me too, it really needs that shot of adrenaline
One thing you can cont on with the Soul Calibur series is amazing guest characters.
100%!
Soul Calibur 2 on the gamecube was my introduction to the series and made me a fan big time
I have such a long story with soul Calibur. One of the first titles I got into as a kid. Even before Tekken. Introduced me to Yoshinitsu. And fell in love with Bandai Namco's games as a whole. Thanks for covering this
That's awesome to hear :)
Ah, SC3, packed with one of the most infamous bugs of all time in thr Chronicles of the sword mode... Such good memories. But that save bomb bug was nasty
Thankfully avoided it all this time haha
@@Niosai I remember losing 3 memcards because of that bug. Also, everytime, around 50 hours+ of game progression. It was painful.
@@ZirixStrarstrider Yep. Same, had to unlock characters, stages, fighting styles, and recreate several characters too many times.
And i was so mad, that i broke the case of the game in 'vengeance'
Took me a lot of years to finally beat the mode completly, after i emulated it when i bought SC4 with my first PS3.
Soulcalibur 6 is so beautiful, I felt like they took the original game and gave it the Doom reboot treatment. Love it.
4:00 Does anyone know where Cervantes' second skin's icon comes from? AFAIK Cervantes had a greener second Pirate skin in the console game but he didn't have a second icon like that, instead he would have the masked Cervantes skin which I assume was the pre-Soul Edge version of him.
A tale of souls and swords, eternally retold 🔥 can't wait to watch this!
18:50 the exhibition theatre and the AI fights was first used in SC2 arcade/console while the game is in idle and no one is playing it
1:03:10 Yup, my exact problem with SC6. Along with the blegh netcode.
Use em.
Beard options would be awesome in a future game
@@GurrenPrime I'm sure he'd be under Tekken, but it would be even cooler to see 2 Yoshimitsu slots, one for each series and both play differently 😂
That sounds sick!
I can tell you more about the Chronicles of the Sword mode, but it contains spoilers to a well written story.
I played the game mode so much that my character is Lv.90+ Broken!!
Once again, SPOILERS:
You started off as a cadet with 2 more skilled(dope) warriors Aeneas (clutch #1) and Riese (Rolling Thunder) and your mentor Girardot.
It's a crime that Soulcalibur II Gamecube version with Link wasn't ported to Nintendo Switch
I think BotW Link could be really cool in a new game
I have a love/hate relationship with the SoulCalibur series
What I love are all the different characters, playstyles, art style and ease of entry
What I hate is the lack of moveset consistency between games. For example, Taki's ground spark changes commands or properties every single game. You can go from one Street Fighter game to another and know that Ryu's Hadoken is the same motion with the same properties; this just doesn't happen in the SoulCal series
I feel like most basic movesets stay the same across the games, but I'm also a pretty casual player so maybe I don't notice it as much?
Opening Direction isn't just viewing the opening. As the name suggest, it allows you to direct the opening by changing which characters appear at different points and such.
I remember making Nightmare take Xianghua's place and cracking up seeing him act all feminine.
I'd missed playing Soul Calibur 5...
hell yes been waiting for this one
SC2 will always be my personal favorite choice of the franchise
I love Soulcalibur! Thank you for keeping things alive. hope to get a new game after Tekken 8 is settled in
Me too! Thanks for the comment :)
@@Niosai np! Launched SC6 today after a few years to find it's not hard to find ranked opponents on the ps4 so that's great :)
The only thing I’ll say about the critical finish system in SC4, is that it was pretty hype when you managed to get one off in online, although I only ever managed to pull it off once.
It's a system that's super cool when you're actually able to use it!
It definitely caused rage quits on some people that's for sure. 😂 Soul Calibur 4 was honestly amazing.
@@dannychoppa717 yea man, SC4 was my absolute favorite, 6 was…….ok, wish it had a tad bit more content though.
Allow me to fill in some blanks here:
SC2 in the arcades had a special mode that was exclusive to arcades called Conquest Mode.
God I loved Chronical of the Sword mode, it could honestly be a spin off series.
Not only does Chronicles of the Sword have an immense amount of content but it also has an infamous glitch where you can lose all your data from corruption.
I've seen that, glad it didn't happen while I was making this video 😅
It happen's if you have older save file's from any other game and try to alter the data at all I.E. moving the file deleting them or saving.@@Niosai
Totally agree with how good Soul Calibur VI is. I played it to death when it first came out, completing the Platinum achievement within the space of a week and playing everything each DLC character had to offer.
I’ve been enjoying replaying Broken Destiny on PS5!
Hopefully they add Soul Blade to the classics list!
That'd be cool!
11:40 so out of what I've been told I heard that the soul calibur yoshi is the ancestor of the tekken yoshi
I really enjoyed playing all Soul calibur games a lot. I hope Namco doesn't abandon Project Soul and start working on Soulcalibur VII.
Me too! Let's see what happens after Tekken 8 👀
@@Niosai Yeah... maybe they will work on it after Tekken 8.
Im glad im not the only one who felt how sc4 got slowed down
I actually deeply invested myself in Soul Calibur 4's RPG character creator.
I wish I could've tried it 😭 I have no idea why they didn't include this in the HD remaster
Me too! I think the series still has a ton of potential
Good video! SoulCalibur is one of my favorite series
No, I haven't! Where can I find details?
And thanks! :)
You wishing for such a thing doesn't count as a 'rumor'. lol
But I do wish it was true too.
Holy shit. I can't imagine that trash fire being someone's first Soul Calibur.
Yikes.
Finally someone understands and appreciates Soul Calibur 3's Chronicles Of The Sword. With newer games its easy to overlook this. But for the time it was perfect.
Chronicles of the Sword in SC3 is my favourite single player mode in any fighting game ever. Can’t even count how many times I’ve completed and replayed it
Soul Blade was my first fighting game (Tekken 1, too) on the pS1. Great memories. Played all the series..❤
I think Virtua fighter was the game that introduced ring outs.
I should probably play those, huh?
I still run into players quite often.
2B is OP
