@stella Mason I’m most certainly not gen Z 😅 Neither was I trying to push an antinatalist agenda, or anything. I simply have no interest in the topics of pregnancies or babies, and have decided not to become a parent myself, but I’m not ‘opposed’ to it. Was just my way of saying that Swayze can make any topic interesting, especially after being away for a while.

Fun fact relating to what you said about the epidural: Your peripheral nervous system has 2 kind of inputs that it delivers to the brain - nociceptive stimuli which refers to dull, pressure sensations and noxious stimuli which refers to sharp, painful sensations (and temperature sensation). So each of those kinds of stimuli travel differently along the spinal cord to the brain which is how the epidural can just target and block the noxious (painful) stimuli) while maintaining your ability to feel pressure!

Yeah, chronic fatigue sucks but the best part is you can lie down all the time and not feel bad, lighten your chore load, and such.
Also, yeah, your kids are definitely in the age where the fascination is with daddy and you are chopped liver. I love this stage. Send him off with my bf. It seems to start as soon as they realize who is willing to roughhouse and who is interested in grosser things.
Basically unless we are cooking, reading, playing cards, or outside to play you could take me or leave me. That's what I want to do anyway. It’s definitely cheaper than buying formula and I do believe it has the awesome benefits, but I don’t buy that it promises longer sleep, combats all of the infections known to man, etc etc. with that said I am hoping to breastfeed but im not gonna let everyone shame me for not being able to. I’m finding that people are relentless in trying to give you unsolicited advice, and that definitely brings an unwelcome amount of guilt.

Just wanted to say one thing it’s totally totally normal when a baby cluster feeds at the start, they are turning on your milk ducts in your breast and telling them how much to produce. To advocate giving a bottle then is bad information as this interferes with milk production. (The first two weeks are vital to turn on milk ducts)

I just have to say that breastfeeding can be a good thing, in case anyone is wondering. I nursed my first child for nearly 3 years. I didn’t have latching issues and it was never painful. It was a quiet and peaceful time I got to have with my baby. The first couple months were tough because they were big and needed to nurse frequently. Pumping at work can be annoying, but I think I only did that until they were established on solid food. Try it and see if it’s a fit for you. Again, it can be a very special time with your baby. Unfortunately it’s not a fit for everyone.

Video idea, or at least a point of discussion. You mentioned you ate a lot of peanut butter and I noticed Kroger on your big jars. They have a fair amount of hydrogenated oils on them which I have come to believe are bad. You once said you don’t care if you’re eating “natural” peanut butter. You’ve always been well informed by dietitian sources. So what do you know about partially, fully hydrogenated oils and whether or not to be concerned.

    • @moondog7694
      @moondog7694 Рік тому +1

I know that Lead Safe Mama says on her website not to eat peanut butter that is in plastic jars, because the peanut butter must be heated in order to be put in the jars, and it heats the plastic, so the plastic gets into the peanut butter. So, you're eating plastic. This is why she recommends that if people eat peanut butter, they get it in glass jars. Hopefully the glass doesn't contain lead/plumbum, a neurotoxin! Also, I heard that valencia peanuts are grown in a drier climate, so they are less likely to have bad mold, which is aflatoxin, which is unhealthy for humans to ingest.

'Considered a chemically refined oil, canola goes through stages - such as bleaching and deodorizing - that involve chemical treatment'
'Several animal studies link canola oil to increased inflammation and oxidative stress.'

I also have 3 kids and I am done. Everyone of my pregnancies was high risk and barely made it alive. My oldest son is now 22 yeare old. I have been meat free since 1994

Congrats! Do they do internal exams all through pregnancy in America? I hated them during labour so I can't imagine having them any earlier 😬 I feel like the hospital promotes breastfeeding so much to counteract any negativity mothers get when they're so vulnerable, as it feels like most of the negativity comes from people they know rather than society generally.

Apparently I'm just an awkward sod with IVs and cannulas. My body rejects them after a couple of hours and finding a vein is nearly impossible. My veins are tiny and go off in weird directions.

When they put the iv in your arm….and tell you it doesn’t hurt (after they pull the needle out but leave the plastic tube in your arm)….it still hurts with that plastic tube and I hate moving my arm when that is in it. They just don’t seem to understand.

I actually had a non dairy cheese from Trader Joe’s that has actually cheese in it. Finished it but was quite a bit disappointed. Maybe products that are advertise as vegan but are not… or what you eat in a day as a mom of 3?

they should call the non dairy creamer casein dairy creamer. I’ve also seen on labels that coconut milk contains milk but there is no mention of milk solids or whey or casein.

Re: the breastfeeding and sleeping thing. Breastfeeding is protective against SIDS...because breastfeeding babies constantly wake up overnight and never sleep deeply!

Woo! 🎉So glad you’re doing well and healthy.
I have an interesting question for you (if you ever do a q&a): I love kimchi, but my local Korean market only sells non-fish oil ones in small plastic jars, while giant bulk portions with fish oil are sold in big plastic jars. I buy the big jars to save plastic and gas. Do you think there are times when the environmental implications of a purchase outweigh animal welfare? Especially when it comes to a trace amount of a trace product, like the fish oil

Is there really only one grocery store near you that sells kimchi? Where I live, many non-Korean grocery stores sell kimchi.

@@moondog7694 there probably are, I haven’t looked, but nothing in that bulk size. It’s literally the size of my torso
