Is The Kelly Screamer Lead Trumpet Mouthpiece Really A Miracle? Kurt Thompson
Hey Kurt, I'm on another account, but I'm back again asking you to review the metal version. It's available on the Kelly website. Thank you!
I’ve had good success at longer gigs with a Kelly plastic 7C mouthpiece and a V cup mouthpiece. The plastic is much softer and it helps preserve my chops. Also, the V cup is a very hard size to find but it’s wonderful.
Good to know
They are good played on a kelly screamer for years. Then I found the Conti condolli Marcink, better still. At the end of the day and Kurt will tell you this, it’s not the mouthpiece but how you use your air and minimal pressure
partially true yes, but...you forgot the most important component!
Do you think it would be good for like I inside concert gig I have one but I've never played it at a concert always play the monette
Not sure. I mostly play indoors regardless. If it is pep band, rock, pop, commercial, jazz, big band then....yes! If you are thinking of using it for concert band, wind ensemble, trumpet choir then...no!
woah this was posted yesterday?
I guess you could say that. How were the donuts?
I'm not a first trumpet player at my high school but I really want to be able to play higher than what I can right now I struggle to reach about a fourth line d and I feel like I should be able to reach a lot higher being in 10th grade and having done trumpet for at least 4 to 5 years by now but this year's the second-year we've had a band director who really wanted to help us with the higher notes the band director I had when I joined help me really learn the basics and how to actually play it in all that the second and directory had which was the band director I had for my rookie year of marching band was just too lazy to really teach me anyting really and last year we had my new band director join who actually really does try to help me and I know I should be able to reach higher notes sometimes I'm able to pop out a top of the staff note for our show but that's because I pinch and I'm hoping there's a way that I can be able to teach myself I can play higher notes without having to pinch so basically I'm asking can the Kelly screamer mouthpiece teach a person to play higher notes without having to pinch their lips?
I'm also really shoving the mouthpiece into my lips to reach the top of the staff know when I can reach it
Minimize pressure, just work on long tones at the top while working on embochure and range
How about a Reed Mouthpiece like Eddie Harris.
hmmm
3 months after this video COVID hit. Sadness
How about even sadder: Just one month after this one: ua-cam.com/video/_mAOsAukjlQ/v-deo.html
A flatter rim is more comfortable for me, how is the rim on this one ?
Very comfortable, but terms like flat, round, sharp many times are based on the player. I think the Bach 5c is a very sharp rimmed mouthpiece. Others feel it is very comfortable. You need to get one to find out.
@@TRUMPETSIZZLE Thanks I have one on the way. Already have their flugel deep V and like it.
