    Thanks so much for watching everyone! Hope you enjoyed this mini update on my beloved tree monitors! Basil is making normal progress and is as shy as most tree monitors usually are. I am patiently working with him every few days and pleased with the results I am seeing. I wanted to share the clip of him choosing not to eat in this video because it shows how they can be really shy and that's okay! He ended up eating all those crickets later on when I took the camera away lol. Take care all and see you in tonight's (Feb 2/21) livestream @7:30pmEST or on Friday!

    I think my most interactive reptile is my California Kingsnake. Cal is not your typical kingsnake that bites everything thinking it's food. He's super mellow and very inquisitive. I walk in the room and he comes up to the front. I'll open his terrarium, and he'll let me give him chin rubs.
    Love seeing Sabzi and Basil. 😍 They're so beautiful.

    Both of our male caiman lizards are extremely interactive, but the slightly smaller one is more "puppy dog tame". The larger one isn't a biter, but he'll take off if he gets spooked by something. The littler one, I can pretty much do anything to and nothing phases him. The only negative is they have extremely sharp claws and they'll only get bigger when the lizards reach 5 feet long. They love to crawl on my arms and shoulders, so I'm using covered in scratches. Small price to pay for such amazing interactions. 🦎👍

  • @Kittyintheraiyn

    I think it's possible that she tore her claws digging crickets out of the upper corners? When she was trying to get them out she's using the hand with the missing claws to do it. ANYWAY, SABZI is SO GORGEOUS. I love watching your videos of her so much~

    The prey thrash she does reminds me of water monitors and how they smash snake heads and necks when they eat snakes. Maybe also it's just instinctive for her to ensure that whatever caterpillar she would be eating doesn't have spines. I think she just likes doing it, but it may be programmed behavior as well. I have no idea, but it's fascinating to watch and speculate.

    QOTD: we have cats, so yes, they’re extremely interactive! One example is that every time I go to the bathroom, I get a bathroom buddy. One of them either uses the litter box at the same time (mirroring actions is a common technique cats use to bond with other cats or other animals). Or they climb on the counter or in my lap!

    Just out of curious why does Sabzi mush her face against things when she eats crickets?

    • @Reptiliatus
      @Reptiliatus  3 роки тому

      She is reorienting the prey to straighten it into a position that goes down her throat straight :).

      Haha she always does that and never falls. It’s crazy. At this point I don’t worry as much as I used to 😅.

    Is it easy taking care of a Green Tree Monitor?

    • @bugloverspiderlover8490
      @bugloverspiderlover8490 3 роки тому

      I wouldn't think so,reptiles are a ton of work,that's why I don't have any more,even the anoles are a nightmare to make completely happy. That's why I keep tarantulas now,low maintenance,no exotic vet needed,no expensive set ups,no supplements on their food,all they really need is substrate,a water bowl,and food one or twice a week and they are good,some species have certain needs,like higher or lower humidity but the basics are pretty much the same.

      I try to handle my Uromastyx more but they are too young and sporadic. The bearded dragons still take the cake for handleability
