if my best friend and i made a great bunch of music together, then my best friend died.. i wouldnt want to play that music very often anymore. then, 30 years later, that best friends son got on a world stage to play his dads part in reinacting our music in front of me... I would cry my eyes out missing my friend and loving his son. life is both painfully long and brutally short.

It was Mike Pinder, who was friends with the Beatles, who helped them buy their mellotrons that first appeared in Strawberry Fields in 1967. By then the Moodies had been using the mellotron for some time. Many months before they even recorded the Days of Future passed the Moodies had recorded Night in Satin for Airing on the BBC using the mellotron. In fact, Justin once said that it is that lost recording that is his favorite Moodies version of Nights. When John Bonham died, Robert Plant looked after Jason Bonham looked grieved with and looked after him all through his childhood and still does. Heart was a Led Zeppelin cover band playing at The Pipeline and the Aquarius in Seattle. Lots of history in this glorious performance.
The greatest female rock voice of all time was 62 when she sang this! As a youngster, Ann Wilson had a studder and turned to music as a coping mechanism and for fulfillment. We are all so lucky that god, or whatever higher power exists, blessed her with the studder.

Whoever arranged and rehearsed this needs to be commended. The coordination of choral, orchestral, and rock musicians was superb, and Ann Wilson's singing was a masterpiece of control, build, and intensity.
I think we all cried listening to this. I grew up with Zep. So many memories. One day we will all be gone. But this masterpiece will live on for many generations.

The amount of talent & giant balls it took for these two women to take this on is both staggering and disturbing. Glad they went big as there is no other way to cover what is arguable the greatest rock song of all time. And nothing but respect that they included Jason. He deserved to be there for his dad.
Story goes that RP said that he wanted Jason in the box with them to represent his father. Jason politely declined as he had a gig already scheduled that night. RP insisted, but again, Jason said he couldn't. So when they announced John Bonham's son Jason and he walks out, shakes his drumsticks at them and RP stands up and points at Jason. IMO it's almost like RP is saying "OH you meant this gig".
My favorite is 4:23 when all three surviving members react to the choir reveal. That hits me right in the feels all at once. They were already witnessing a great performance of their most famous song, and that is the icing on the cake! This entire performance is amazing. Those that give this a thumbs-down are dead inside (or trolls...same thing).

It's amazing how much Jason looks like his dad. That great smile they exchanged was heartfelt because John and Robert were mates from a previous band before Zeppelin.
I swear that it's my exact thought: behind those eyes and tears we can feel what they lived preparing the song, singing it, and performing it on stages all over the world. In addition to the year when they have sung it, they eman by those eyes and tears that time flies and memories remain.

Robert plant was like a mythical being in his youth. ❤ Jimmy Page was out if this world. They all grew in such sophistication and class. They still look incredible.
There is a story behind this. In the early 70's Led zeppelin were playing a concert in Vancouver. After the show they wanted to go to a local club. Their manager told them there was a local band that did an amazing cover of Stairway to Heaven & that they should check it out. They decided to go. The name of the local band was Heart.
My dad just turned 68 and he used to tell me all about this. I forget the name of the club, but he and his buddy would go there every single weekend and watch Heart perform. He told me that the minute he saw them play, he knew they were going to be big. Apparently, they use to close EVERY show with Stairway to Heaven. They had come up from Seattle with their boyfriends (who were dodging the Vietnam draft), otherwise, I might have had one of them as my mother (or so my dad claims LOL)!

I have always been a fan of Heart and when I heard this cover and the power behind her, it was absolutely a religious experience! I can only imagine what it must have been like to have been in that audience! This was so stunning!
Listen when they ascended to the crescendo,the final layer of the song,after already giving it the professional choir treatment and brought out the additiinal choir wearing the bowler hats that John used to wear,Robert was VERY CLOSE TO SOBBING like a baby 😭😭😭. I mean HE ALMOST COULDNT 🛑 HIMSELF. They made Jimmy Paige cry. Jimmy F&cking Paige! Anne and Nancy are rock and roll Goddesses themselves. I think song absolutely can be about race, or ethnicity, or culture. Only others who've been through your experiences can sing to you in your own language. But this is definitely one of those times that music transcends everything to touch everyone.
I've watched this a hundred times and my eyes haven't remained dry yet. Jones, Plant, and Page personify humility and grace.... not bad musicians either. Page's spontaneous excitement and Plant's tears make this an incomparable moment in music history... and of course, Heart, Bonham, et al is nothing short of spectacular.

I'm a guy in his 50's now and I gotta say, Heart was one of my favorite concerts ever! Saw them at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas back in the early 90's and they just ROCKED THE HOUSE! They were amazing here too! 🎤👩🏻🎶🎸👩🏼

With that said, yes CRS's version was basically a carbon perfect copy of LZ, but possibly with alittle extra zing. So honestly, I'm not sure I like one more than the other, only Heart's version sticks out as something special in it's own way. But thank you, I am now hooked on CRS.

Watched this at least 15 times. The choir was phenomenal and the bands reaction is spectacular. Every part of my life in the 70's had Led Zeppelins aura around it.
I met and hung out with Robert Plant years ago when he stayed at the small hotel I worked foron the Washingtons state coast. He was playing in Tacoma and he gave . entire staff tickets to his concert in Tacoma. One of the best memories of my life.
They must have worked VERY HARD rehearsing for this song. Hat's off to Ann and Nancy, the band, orchestra and the choir! Mostly thanks to Led Zepp for the creation of this awesome and fearless music! This is one of my favorite videos on UA-cam no doubt!

There is a story behind this. In the early 70's Led zeppelin were playing a concert in Vancouver. After the show they wanted to go to a local club. Their manager told them there was a local band that did an amazing cover of Stairway to Heaven & that they should check it out. They decided to go. The name of the local band was Heart.
My dad just turned 68 and he used to tell me all about this. I forget the name of the club, but he and his buddy would go there every single weekend and watch Heart perform. He told me that the minute he saw them play, he knew they were going to be big. Apparently, they use to close EVERY show with Stairway to Heaven. They had come up from Seattle with their boyfriends (who were dodging the Vietnam draft), otherwise, I might have had one of them as my mother (or so my dad claims LOL)!

Fabulous tribute to Led Zeppelin
Listen when they ascended to the crescendo,the final layer of the song,after already giving it the professional choir treatment and brought out the additiinal choir wearing the bowler hats that John used to wear,Robert was VERY CLOSE TO SOBBING like a baby 😭😭😭. I mean HE ALMOST COULDNT 🛑 HIMSELF. They made Jimmy Paige cry. Jimmy F&cking Paige! Anne and Nancy are rock and roll Goddesses themselves. They are arguably the best female rock band in the history of music. I challenge you to name a better one. The last layer of choir with the bowler hats made me want to cry as well so i can only imagine what Robert feels like. These men deserve this. It has to feel very close to God to be worshipped in this way by all of the other humans you encounter. This is the most legendary tribute ive ever seen i do believe. Its so cool to watch it again

The original Zeppelin was clearly blown away by this incredible rendition of one of their greatest songs.

I think song absolutely can be about race, or ethnicity, or culture. Only others who've been through your experiences can sing to you in your own language. But this is definitely one of those times that music transcends everything to touch everyone.
I've watched this a hundred times and my eyes haven't remained dry yet. Jones, Plant, and Page personify humility and grace.... not bad musicians either. Page's spontaneous excitement and Plant's tears make this an incomparable moment in music history... and of course, Heart, Bonham, et al is nothing short of spectacular.
Guitar soloist Shane Fontayne is also brilliant 🎶! He's pretty much underutilized touring with graham nash.

I'm a guy in his 50's now and I gotta say, Heart was one of my favorite concerts ever! Saw them at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas back in the early 90's and they just ROCKED THE HOUSE! They were amazing here too!

@@haluwazone299 Dude... that was Awesome! But, I do have to admit that in some ways I like Heart's version alittle better ONLY because it was slightly different and her vocals are in their own realm. With that said, yes CRS's version was basically a carbon perfect copy of LZ, but possibly with alittle extra zing. So honestly, I'm not sure I like one more than the other, only Heart's version sticks out as something special in it's own way. But thank you, I am now hooked on CRS.

Watched this at least 15 times. The choir was phenomenal and the bands reaction is spectacular. Every part of my life in the 70's had Led Zeppelins aura around it.
I met and hung out with Robert Plant years ago when he stayed at the small hotel I worked foron the Washingtons state coast. He was playing in Tacoma and he gave . entire staff tickets to his concert in Tacoma. One of the best memories of my life.
They must have worked VERY HARD rehearsing for this song. Hat's off to Ann and Nancy, the band, orchestra and the choir! Mostly thanks to Led Zepp for the creation of this awesome and fearless music! This is one of my favorite videos on UA-cam no doubt!

Heart has been hugely influenced by LZ forever. They always do a Led Zeppelin song in their concerts. Being a huge fan of both, I can say it's a real treat!
