excellent video, excellent guide. Came here to find out about some heroclix of lanterns I didn't know about. It's all about the constructs, they reflect the personality of the green lantern, any lantern. It's my favorite superhero in DC and I grew up with Hal Jordan because of the Superfriends, Justice League and Challenge animated series reruns here in Mexico when I was like 6 and the image of Hal in my mind is that of the pepsicard and the Secret Origins episode
Years ago I came across a picture of Batman with a Green Lantern ring. My first reaction was saying out loud "Holy shit." Knowing that Green Lanterns harness will power, I was thinking that there are not to many characters in comics that have more will power than Batman. Great list, I have been out of comics for awhile, and I sometimes wondered how many Lanterns there were. I used to think 4 + Alan Scott.
I can't see him bookmarked so idk if you've mentioned him. Human and presumably originally from Earth but who knows. Jediah Caul from the Threshold series. If memory serves he dies in that series. However in the Convergence event something weird happens. He appears, alive, as a background character in his GL suit. Guy Gardner appears in his RL suit. Over the course of the panels of the main story of that event, maybe the final battle, idk, they inexplicably swap rings. Guy goes back to his old GL classic appearance, and Jediah has like a RL variant of his GL suit. An absolutely obscure character from an absolutely obscure series, but in my head he's alive, perhaps as an independent RL separated from the corps, just as he was as a GL. And maybe he'll wear a green ring again one day.
This is the list of lanterns from earth that i knew before this video: Hal Jordan Guy Gardner John Stewart Kyle Rayner Simon Baz Jessica Cruz Alan scott Alex Nero Dexstar Rancor (the human red lantern) Black Hand Carol Ferris Jade
Great video! I learned a lot though I have been doing my own research and there is one Lantern you missed. Alexander Nero yellow lantern psychotic human enemy of Kyle Rayner. Don't know much about him.
@@2ndClassNerd Not that I know of. But they introduce more Human Lanterns every few years. There’s a half Human GL being introduced into the HBO show, and I could see her being folded into the comics. But even if they don’t, there’ll be others.
It’s really funny cause when I saw Cary wren I was thinking that she looked like Kyle and then you said “she’s a descendant of Kyle Rayner” 🤣 Kyle is probably my fav lantern so it’s cool seeing a descendant of his. Also this is such a great video I had no idea about all of these extra lanterns and it’s so cool to see!
I love a lot of these lanterns, even the one-offs human lanterns, but I had no idea donna parker existed. Ironically, my way of bringing Tai Pham into DC continuity was to give his grandmother a very similar story to Parker's (have Sur give her a ring in secret which she gives to her grandson). In that case, I would make Parker an alias for Pham's grandmother but she keeps the ring at the end; however, her connection to John and the corps would be erased for Tai to join later on. At the same time, I like the idea of connecting Tai to Jong Li who, as far as I remember, still had his ring at the end of the story. In this scenario, Tai is a part of a lineage of Lanterns on earth that has been protecting Earth in secret for centuries. I would maybe even connect Li's ring to Alan Scott, making it that, after the events of Dragon Lord, Li found out that he was meant to protect Earth from Yalan Gur and once Gur was defeated and Alan's ring started its journey, Li kept the ring and gave it to his descendants until Tai finally used it in public and was discovered by John Stewart. Because Tai's ring would be so old, maybe it would be different from the other corps rings and would have a connection to Alan's ring (maybe Tai's ring flairs up when in proximity to Alan and Jade's starheart). Tai Pham is such a great concept that I wish the writers tried to connect to or at least reflect main continuity better. But for me, the main, current lanterns are the big 6, Alan and his kids, Jo and Teen Lantern (and Tai if they did a great job implementing him into the DCU without messing with the continuity of the other 6 lanterns).
It's a lot of fun to theorize ways to work these characters into the same continuity. We may have to settle for Tai being in his own world of the Multiverse, but that means he could still cross over. Though I really like the idea of linking him to Dragon Lord.
@@MosaicComics For me, Tai Pham is such a great concept that I feel is wasted in a parallel universe. I've always liked the idea of teen lanterns since most human lanterns are in their 20s or 30s-40s so I appreciate Tai and Keli, although I want someone to explain and develop Keli (will never forget how little Bendis developed the character in 2 years beyond her being from Bolivia). For the longest time I thought Dragon Lord was elseworlds until I saw that the logo was missing but I really want concepts like these to be used and melded with the main/popular universe. Green Lantern is so expansive but writers like Morrison and Snyder forget about. Not only haven't we seen the other human lanterns in the last 2 years but also the emotional spectrum (I miss Saint Walker, Atrocitus and Arkillo so badly).
@@kenlsten4651 Well Morrison's run ends in March, so anything could happen after that. They're trying really hard right now to sell the idea that everything DC has ever published counts as part of their greater omniverse, so as far as I'm concerned that means we could see Tai again anytime, anywhere, as long as someone has a good enough idea for a story. Whatever they do, I'm just looking forward to the greater Green Lantern universe getting opened up again.
@@MosaicComics I completely agree (I've been dying for Morrison's run to end for so damn long) but I want Tai to be put into continuity correctly and with care like Johns did with Parallax. At the same time, I really don't want any new GLs. Since Simon was created, we've seen 3 new human lanterns created in 10 years while Kyle was the newest lantern for 17 years and there just isn't enough books to carry all these lanterns every month. I would rather DC focus on at least the main 6 lanterns and solidify the positions of the other lanterns. With the omniverse, the irony is that I think GL has never really been rebooted. While they might ignore or retell stories like Hal's origin, the history of GL is pretty much the most intact corner of the DC universe.
I read the new guardians and a bit of the hal mini series that came after and up to the latest battery explosion. I'd love to see a new series combining all of the lore from all the previous books.
Alan Scott Green lantern with a red shirt and boots. Never could figure that out. Weakness-Wood Ok he was the first one of his type. If he's used more going forward he needs a new updated uniform. Nice video though! I enjoyed it!
