I used to do this a lot and would suppress my negative thoughts until I read up on yin/yang. Now I look at negative and positive thoughts as being one thing that needs balance. Yin (black, negative) is stationary. It has a lot of substance, but isn't going to move or dissolve unless ying(white, positive) comes along and carries it away. So anytime I think of a negative thought, I will do something or think something positive to flush the negativity away. Now I embrace the negative when it shows because it can tell us a lot about us, but it needs positivity in order to be dealt with properly.

Hello Everyone, I’m in my fifties. It started from when I was a kid at the age of four years old. For some apparent reason no one liked me. Until this very day I get the same energy from many people. It’s very depressing and bothersome. Because of this I have negative thoughts all the time. In closing, I’m Not a mean person. I have good intentions for anyone. I see the world as full of hate and not to be trusted. This is why I prefer to be in the company of animals.
You hit the nail right on the head for me when you mentioned job interviews. I finnished a second college diploma almost a year ago and I’m trying to start a new career. Ive had several interviews but no luck landing a job yet. Every time I leave an interview I find my self thinking “oh, I should have said this” or “damn, why did I say that?”
After going trough something challenging we can either learn or lament - One is helpful, one is not so much. Are you able to learn something for the next interview instead of beating yourself up?
Julia Kristina, I do try to learn something and better prepare myself for next time. But I also have learn to ignore that lingering voice that is there every time I don’t get a job that always asks “why? Was I not good enough?” Even though I know I am. I did amazingly well in school, going way beyond my own expectations. I do know I am capable.
Ppl.. stop putting so much importance on ur own identity and just BE. Once u lift up these expectations for yourself and being healthy And alive is enough for u..u will feel all the negativity and pressure fade away. Its a really liberating!! Put that ego aside and just Live!!
I usually ask myself 'Why?', so I can find the root of my negative thoughts and then, ask my self, "is this thought real or true or is it me sabotaging me?", "Is this thought possible?". I end up having an small debate with myself, sometimes I win, sometimes I don't. But I do my best with it.
I cannot just replace a negative thought with a positive one. That's like telling someone to smile whenever they feel down hoping they'll feel better just because they're smiling. It would be just a lie. You HAVE to believe it or you'll feel you're lying to yourself and the negative thoughts will come back again. I feel the only way to deal with it is looking for the root of those thoughts. Most of the time they are not even possible. Like, feeling no one loves you. Like.. Do you really think that's possible? that anybody in this world loves you or is it you sabotaging yourself? If so, why do you think you feel like no one loves you? Is it because of a low self esteem or why could that be? And so on, you can keep looking for the root of your negative thoughts until you find out if they are irrational or not. Of they are irrational, looking for what's making you think that way and make a effort to solve it. If they are not, same, make an effort to find the will for looking for a solution. Both of them requires a will for getting better. It's not easy. But it's a process we need so we can learn how to overcome those moments.

linda justice : so sorry to hear about that, Linda. What I try to do is to take things just one day at a time and then life feels more manageable for me. I also try to remember another of Julia's tips that works really well when I'm having circling negative/anxious thoughts : I use her "I don't" tip and I say t myself : "I don't let other people's false perception of me derail my life/day". And any other iterations of the "I don't" tip ...... "I don't let other people's pettiness stop me from enjoying my life". Also, recently I have been doing a Breath Cycle meditation that was created by a young British woman, Sian Clifford. She set up a non-profit called, Still Space & I believe there is a website where you can download a guided meditation. Alternatively, Sian has posted several videos about it on You Tube, in which she guides you through the principles of Breath Cycle meditation. I have been doing it over the last two weeks and I find it takes my brain to a different place and I just feel more positive and happy. Search for Still Space on You Tube & u should be able to find it. Finally, I have recently subscribed to The Chopra Well on You Tube - it's Deepak Chopra's channel & recently he has been talking about the meta-human and how our conscious minds do not make up the totality of who we are but that there is a space we don't go to that's in our subconscious / where we are at a point of "pure consciousness" - where there are no thoughts at all & we are just "being" and are connected to the global consciousness - that is, connected to all living beings ..... It's worth thinking about these things, because there could be a level of consciousness that we are not tapping into. ...... Well, I hope that last bit about pure consciousness has not put you off. ....(!) .... And I wish you well in your pursuit of finding happiness and joy. Best wishes, Andrea. (PS, I have also practised Transcendental Meditation for 23 years, which is very healing for any physical ailments and helps you to assimilate any anxieties that are bothering you. I learned it through the Transcendental Meditation Association, which was founded by Maharishi Mohesh Yogi) - they also have a website & have teachers all around the world. Have been Gaslit by one of my children for about 21 years and it was horrible. I would let all the untrue accusations cause me to constantly criticize myself and finally about a year ago I started telling myself that I was not guilty or deserving of the accusations and lies and started researching the things that were being done to me. I now tell myself that I will not accept these thoughts any longer. I was and am a good mother to 3 children and 7 grandsons. I am worth something, I no longer let this child think for 1 minute that anything they say or do affects me, because that only gives them the power they need to continue gaslighting and then I get on with my day. @@juliakristinamah About that... If my wife didn't have fantastic insurance, my therapist wouldn't be getting paid either. But, if I was in Vancouver, I surely would kick him to the curb for you. Lol. (I'm so loyal, huh?)
I have done this. For sure. J
I cannot describe in words how much your videos touch me and help me cope.I have anxiety and have negative thoughts often.I will have an anxiety attack sometimes in front of friends,at partys, even at work. Then I often have negative thoughts about myself after the fact about me having those anxiety attacks. These thoughts are not helping me or anyone else you couldnt be more right.I just wanted to let you know I love what you do and I really appriciate you making these videos.❤
Yes,i usually do that when i get a bad grade. And yes,i most of the times cry not because of that grade, but because i bully myself in my head,or compare myself to others.I would love to see a video about comparing yourself to others, and how to stop it.I really need that.Amazing video,as always ❤
I agree on the video about comparing yourself to others. I do this constant in both my work and personal life.
Hwvr 123 I have the same issue of comparing myself and it’s soo bad 🙁 yes it would be great to have a video on in 🤗
Thank you for your response. I am always glad when my comments reach people in a positive way. Thanks again for your response
So glad to have you here! I appreciate you.
Hello Everyone, I’m in my fifties. It started from when I was a kid at the age of four years old. For some apparent reason no one liked me. Until this very day I get the same energy from many people. It’s very depressing and bothersome. Because of this I have negative thoughts all the time. In closing, I’m
Not a mean person.
Self put down thoughts always come into my head. Thank you Julia for this hack. It's time to stop.
Yes it is! Keep me posted and let me know how it goes.
I literally used this advice while I was watching the video. Thank you found a new tool to ground myself. I appreciate it.
Your videos have really helped me, I watch one every morning. thank you so much Julia.
Ppl.. stop putting so much importance on ur own identity and just BE.
@@skellyyy707 stop with the what ifs
Thank you so much I'll try that !
Yes it needs stop. Not that negative mindset. Keep the bright side.
Very helpful ! Thanks so much. I have traveling Anxiety and panic.
Marla, Practical action is needed to reprogramme the subconscious mind. Your breath is directly related to your mind [brain] causing negative thoughts-anxiety-stress. For a relaxed life sit on a chair, back erect, hands on lap with palms upwards, eyes closed, be still and observe your natural incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for around 5-10 minutes or more. Slowly negative thoughts will reduce and relax the mind. During your daily activity keep observing your breath consciously. Do the above meditation daily to feel relaxed. Positive affirmations for 5-10 minutes before sleep are also very effective to reduce negative thoughts. Best wishes. Shyaaam Sir. -Counsellor.
Thanks for another great video. You always have great advice and a very soothing delivery.
Nicholas - that really means a lot. thanks for taking the time to say so.
Mine try to eat me alive every day - feeling loved by others is extremely hard for me after being rejected by my birth and
adoptive parents...
If you were rejected by both your birth parents and adoptive parents, please believe me when I tell you that says everything about them and nothing about you. You are wonderful. Believe that!
linda justice I'm so sorry that happened to you. You deserve much better. ❤️
I could imagine that would be really painful. For something deeper like this, you might find using self-compassion healing and helpful.
linda justice : so sorry to hear about that, Linda. Best wishes ! ❤️❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 Andrea
i''m sure you are an amazing person--Love yourself & take care!
I have problem with negative thought, always thinking the worsted about things...and moving forward, being at peace with my self
Yup I have been there with the bad negative thoughts but now with your help I am going to try and change the bad habits of this, thank you Krista.

I get bogged down trying to remember how I did something yrs ago and it torments me trying to remember how I did a task or drawing or process and I feel like my brain is locked on to it ,,,,and I'm stupid if I can't remember ,then I start to try and work out everything I see like ,so the mantra is this thought useful ,is a clever way to stop this habit,Thanks a million for the trick Julia
Hi. I know that sometimes "worrying " seems so productive. I have caught myself believing that going over things in a negative way really is helpful.
How else do you so call solve
The issue? BUT then I realize
This way of thinking Is so HARMFUL.
I love the question "Is this thought helpful or harmful?
Or this way of thinking helpful or harmful. Thanks for a quick way to stay on top of going into "worry".
Really enjoy your energy.
Yep...often. Your videos are really helpful, thanks.
Lana! So glad you're here and really grateful they've been helpful.
Hello! I have commented on a few other videos. I am using your videos as a tool to help re-program my brain & my thinking. Thank you!
I feel really negative thoughts about not only myself, but also others close to me who tend to make me feel bad about myself. I learned that these thoughts tend to affect other relationships in my life as well.
Yes, this happens. Especially with the hormonal shifts from monthly cycles can make things even worse. It is something that needs trackinf to understand it is only hormones and will clear away in a short time. That is what i have been dealing with. I use clean eating and exercise to keep my thoughts positive as much as possible. Great video!
Dear Julia Kristina,
Thank you so much for posting this video. It's been immensely helpful for me!
Thanks for the video Julian I’ve been struggling with anxiety a lot lately and it feel so scary and it makes me feel so guilty, but it s time to get control of my life again.
All your videos are wonderful. Could you please do a video on how to handle unwanted advice? I am a happy person who minds my own business. Not a lot bothers me. The one thing that bothers me is when someone starts telling me how to live my life. Thank you for taking your valuable time.
Great suggestion! I'll put it on the list.
Centsible Living With Money Mom I usually say, “well, you’ve given me something to think about....”
Thank you. I really appreciate this.
Thank you for your kind response.
Why would anyone not like this? This is good stuff and very helpful. Thank you!
It's still hard and sad at times but I'm doing much better than I was.
Elizabeth Hamilton you’re not alone😩
Good for you👏
@@sassysandie2865 Thank you. It's good to know I'm not alone. When it's your child, not just someone you know, you can't just walk away so you have to find the things to do that help you not let them get to you. It really is helping me. I also pray for this child every day.
@@lisapeterson729 Thank you for your support, Lisa
Elizabeth Hamilton I’ve sadly walked away for the most part😩
Very useful. Thanks. I'm going to ask this question 5 times today in order to practice applying this technique.
Thank you for this helpful question. I have a deep core of shame that is there for many reasons and I’ve been working through this with a wonderful therapist.
This video has definitely helped me. Definitely covered the majority of the areas in my life where I struggle alot.
I have been struggling with career. I was planning on studying physician assistant. And I had to work in a medical field for clinical hours before that. And that is when covid happened. I worked through the worst of it. Lost 50 patients. Then I quit 3 months ago. I couldn't do it anymore. But I didn't start my PA degree. Every time I thought about it, I got panic attacks. I am reconsidering my whole life now. But it takes time, and I don't have a plan. And in my mind I have this negative talk about being a failure. And I think everyone else sees me as such. I am going to spend a month with my family soon, and I can only imagine all the negative comments that I will get.
DETECTING PATTERNS is KEY for those of us in transition from past harming patterns. WE
need to key into the specific phrases that continue to give us an un-easy gut
reaction. TIP: 1. Make an inventory of these statements. 2. Make it mandatory
to combat this with WORDS TO YOURSELF that are accurate and kind. 3. Create and
recite an affirmation each morning, specific to you, detailing you deserve
happiness. BEST PRACTICES and WISHES to us ALL!
I am 100 percent ready to change my thinking and my behavior which will change my life
I am tired of the lies, fighting and hate!
Julia Kristina, you truly are a angel from above.... Tha k you for ALL YOUR VIDEOS X
I’ve had and still have those thoughts. Now I’ve been work on them and building up my toolbox. Thank you. There still there but not as bad. Instead of days and days of those thoughts, it’ll be one or two days out of the week. As opposed to daily like it used to be.
Thankyou julie ive just described... Hope i can get help here as im not getting it from anywhere else. 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks again. I’m sure that you have a lot more information that I would find useful

I love all the very positive, productive ways/manners/perspective /attitudes you clearly present and convey on how to deal with our personal issues and with other people and as we engage with the world in general. i have watched a couple of your videos and I love the way your energy comes off as very bright but lately, it seems that your energy has been dulled a bit. i do hope that you are taking very good care of yourself as obviously, you care about the rest of us, hence your helpful , useful videos. Hello and thank you! Your videos have been so helpful.
I have a new job at a nail salon. It's a profession that I only learned a year ago. Everytime I mess up or even get the slightest critique from a client or my boss, I have these thoughts that I'm not good enough. Or that my boss doesn't like me. So this question is something I can really use right now.
You just described how i really feel. Thank you for this💓 starting my healing journey
Wow! Great tip! I worry that if I go talk to a girl I like she may be rude to me or ignore me or dismiss me.
my negative thoughts made me feel like i’m not good enough for my boyfriend and i don’t deserve such a caring partner who’s willing to go through everything with me. and i ended up pushing him away because i think he will be happier with someone else. when all he wants to be with is me and only me.
Loneliness is kinda my issue! And those are exactly the thoughts that I have about it!!

Thank you!
One of my anxieties is hosting an event, like Thanksgiving which takes me a week to prepare for and break down afterwards. Plus it has to be perfect, of course! I think those negative thoughts and feel overwhelmed. Definitely experience time anxiety! My therapist told me to say to myself, "it's only a week and then it will be over. I can do this." A big help!
Lately I have been taking things personal and having trouble letting those thoughts go. I end up dwelling about a particular confrontation and take more time meditating it out.

Hey! So kind of you to say - really glad it helped.
Good to know im not the only one in the world with this trouble
This happens a lot often than id like to admit BUT I've been working hard on stopping the negative thoughts spiraling by doing the same technique that you mentioned! If not sometimes I say out-loud or in my mind "stop" in order to pause the thought process. It usually works! :)
I gave the negative thoughts a voice, well actually they always had a voice (my old man) but now I hear it recognize it and am able to dispute it most of the time. Sometimes he whispers though, and that is sneaky.
