Thank you Emma for covering this. This case is not talked about enough despite a documentary and dramatised docuseries done about it. I only found out about this case this past year and I kid you not my heart sank hearing about the 4 victims. Anthony wanted to be a world famous fashion designer, he wanted to see his name in bright lights on his branded logo and his work sold in stores, Gabriel wanted to work for the NHS being a translator which is vital when it comes to helping people of non white descent. Daniel was known by his family as a well mannered young man who had his whole life ahead of him. And the most heartbreaking part is Jack Taylor who wasn’t even openly out as gay or bisexual, he was still figuring out his identity and sexuality which Stephen took more than advantage of. My heart breaks for every single family member who was told that day that they were dead. The confusion, the grief, the heartache and pain the suddenly overwhelms you. I applaud Jack’s sisters for being so relentless in pursuing justice for their brother. Familial love is unconditional and they proved that wholeheartedly. Homophobia and double standards definitely played a part, they thought of these young gay men as promiscuous and prone to drugs and sex which is an incredibly frustrating and harmful stereotype and it was extremely unprofessional that they contributed to that stereotype. Your job as the police is to SERVE PROTECT and KEEP our communities safe. The double standards being that if the victims were young girls being drugged and dumped in the churchyard you can best believe they would be on the case like flies on cow pat. Like Jack’s sisters said, the police have blood on their hands and need to held accountable. That was such a powerful statement and I remember feeling chills down my spine as they said it because they’re right. Despite Stephen being permanently incarcerated, the trauma and grief still follows them to this day and the police contributed to that trauma and grief by not protecting them enough. I’ve personally experienced homophobia at the hands of police when in a domestically abusive relationship. For some reason the initial officers didn’t believe that being in a lesbian relationship could result in a violent and threatening situation for me, despite the fact that my abusive partner was 6 foot, to my 5 foot 4 and I was bearing all of the hallmarks of abuse both physically and psychologically. I’d made multiple reports to the police and they either failed to attend, or outright laughed at me on one occasion. I was told that I should “hit her back” by one officer. It was so frustrating, terrifying and re-traumatising. Fortunately I was in contact with the local DV team, and once relocated, the police in my new area took it very seriously.
OMG Willowmoon, your story is horrific!! For an officer to tell you to "Hit her back"?? That's blatant Homophobia because they would NEVER tell a female victim that who is being abused by a male. Hi Emma, my dad is a hillsborough survivor. The police had to come to the house as his statement had been altered this was before the last inquest. What the families of the 97 have had to endure and the surviors themselves since 1989 has been an utter disgrace. Sometimes it seems the police have a free pass to just do what they want and they know they wont be held responsible. A cover up from the top to the bottom. This is by far one of the most shameful cases of police incompetence, in my opinion! (Spoiler... James Prout deserved better and I think you could do that, I'll warn you though it's heartbreaking and it stayed with me for a very long time. 💕 ) (Also if you're ever lost for cases that aren't really covered all that much, which i doubt it but the cases of Alex Skeel, Emani Moss, Adrian Jones, Jessica Lunsford, Tom Somerset-How and Fan Man-yee, also know as the Hello Kitty murder case are a few, as well as the serial killers Gary M. @@LEMON_STARFOXI have actually, I was very impressed and glad someone has finally given James case attention in the way it should, but I definitely still wanna see Emma do it, not only for her empathetic nature, but her theories and opinions in general x
This case hits hard... 2006 a good friend died in Sydney in similar circumstances. Same thing police ruled it as an od until years later when someone else died. The person responsible still walks the streets
I think that ANYTIME you administer a drug to any person, unconscious or NOT, death is always a huge possibility, especially if they’ve never had it before and you are frigging violating their body and giving them a dangerous drug knowing dosing is always different person to person’s body chemistry. You’re guilty of all these things! Especially add another charge if the person is underage because MINOR’S CANNOT CONSENT!
Never heard of this one before- thank you Emma for opening my eyes to such an atrocious cop investigation! And RIP To those young men who have lost their lives way too early- healing vibes to all the families ❤
Can you please cover the Trudoux case? I’m interested in your deep dive since the show I watched was vague on the background of the perpetrators. LOVE your content that I recently found. Even crimes I know of I watch your videos of because I always learn something new. Thank you.
I covered this one on my own channel but I'm sure you're gonna do a better job emma. This case means alot to me. As I only lived around 10 minutes away from Stephens flat in barking. And I was the same age as the 4 guys. It was creepy finding all this out as me and my friend who I lived with at the time would often sit outside that church having picnics in the summer. But again thanks for doing what you do and covering this case emma. ❤
Just added your channel always looking for new crime channel love Emma but on the Mondays Tuesday Thursday Friday Saturday do like to fill them days in ❤
Hi Emma, thank you for covering this case so well. I have heard of Steven Port and his murders but was not aware of the police incompetence. Just shocking that in this day and age the LGBT community is still discriminated against. 😮
His name is pronounced Anthony with the 'th' , his mum argued with the liaison officer over the mispronunciation. It was one of the reasons his mum felt the police weren't interested
I remember that from ‘Four Lives’. Every time the liaison officer pronounced the name wrong, it convinced me that the police saw investigating Anthony’s death as an inconvenience to them.
My daughter is gay and has been stalked and harassed by an ex for years. She finally plucked up the courage to go to the police and was told; “You don’t seem the type of person who needs help from the police”. What the hell is that supposed to mean? They did absolutely NOTHING, and it’s still going on to this day.
This case ANGERED me, the complete lack of care from the police is disgusting, they should have been sacked, and put in prison, themselves! They delayed justice for this poor men, who lost their life's by a vile predator 😡 glad Stephen finally got caught!! And what an amazing friend Gabriel had, John doing his own investigation to help solve his friend and others murder! R.I.P to the victims, my heart goes out to them, their families and friends 🙏🏾💔❤️
Hope all is going well in Thailand and in general! You’re still the best! Love my new KENNY’S CRIME CULT red T-shirt my mum got me for my 30th yesterday. She also loved that you called her “lovely” when writing out the address. Thank you! Speak to you soon. All the best xx
I'm of an age that I remember that drug as being called "the date r*pe drug" too. This sounds alot like what's happening to young men over the years on Rainey Street in Austin Texas. The police also say that the men found floating dead in the same lake as accidents or drownings even when one or more young men have obviously been beaten. So many others have reported being drugged while in bars but luckily had friends with them when hey left. That would be a good case for you Emma to cover. Love from Kentucky USA 🇺🇸.
i hope you're having a wonderful time in Thailand Emma. It's completely infuriating that the police haven't been made accountable for their failings in this case, those poor men and their families deserve better. Thank goodness Port can't hurt anyone else now.
This case is infuriating. Colin Ireland happened a couple of decades earlier, and the police were onto him after the first death. He was so much more sophisticated in the way he covered his tracks, and he killed in different areas. Not sure how much credit to give the police for him since he called in his first kill and made sure they knew it was murder - but Port also called in his first kill. The fact that the cops ignored all of the obvious signs, yeah people should have been fired from every stage of this case. Incompetence is a fireable offense.
I'm a huge true crime buff because I always wanted to be an investigator however I started having kids at 17 and had 4 by 23 so that was never an option. This guy is unbelievable.
Barking police and Ilford police very rarely take notice of any calls. I am disabled, 57, and live on my own, and one night had to call Barking police, someone was trying to get in my bedroom. When the person ran off they left a hammer and a screwdriver, two other flats had their windows tampered with. The police said that they would send someone round, so I sat up all night, but no one came. I went to Ilford police to hand the items in but they didn't have enough staff to deal with me and told me to go to Barking police, they said they would send someone round and for me to hold onto the items. After 12 weeks and lots of calls to the police i realised no one was coming round. I held the hammer and screwdriver from August 2019 to February 2022 and not one officer from Barking or Ilford visited me. The majority of people round here don't even bother calling the police because they don't turn up.
Living on the border of Barking and Ilford and I am also a gay female it's known that if anything happens to a gay person don't even knock on Barking or Ilford police door.
As a gay male, If I was using Tender, I would of swiped away from Port's profile because he is grotesque looking! Was Port using a real picture of himself to get these young men. Also, with GHB you need the right dose to cause overdose on. Being a club person(going to gay dance clubs /bars) from age 15 to 33. I have used various club drugs, including GHB 2 times. The first time I used GHB I felt a intoxicating and felt giddy. The 2nd time I used it I passed out while putting my keys into my car door. My friends had to carry me back to the apartment I was partying at. Both times I took it with friends. Using it to commit suicide, you would need to get to the place we're you wanted to die at and know the right dosage to kill you because it would render you dead in 20 minutes. And it is a low probably you wouldn't put it back in your pocket. I have never heard of a overdose happening were I live in Seattle WA. Also never heard of a overdose from Ketamine back in the time I was clubbing, which was a club drug back in the day. Scott V/Seattle WA

Port's flat was across the road from Barking Abbey. I hate living around here and don't feel safe at all in the area. I am stuck here medically and am desperate to go home to Stalybridge, which will be in a box unfortunately. The police could have walked to Port's flat in 5 minutes.
Wherever you are can be okay. I was in a seriously haunted home with local harassment. I prayed to Jesus and did positive things in my own space...and...important bit...changed all the locks and put window locks in. Ut became safe...I couldn't leave or move.
A person close to me was using hook up apps in the London area at the time of these murders and I was always petrified for them and warned them to let someone know where they were was as they weren't swayed not to meet strangers! The police categorically failed these victims, clearly due to their judgements about the community!
@Deano87,I did send Emma a message a few months back recommending she watches that and she said she would, that was an unbelievable case and maybe in the future Emma might look into it.
As the mum of a young gay man , who is vulnerable due to his drug taking - this one was my toughest watch yet . I believe that men like Port , targeted those who's deaths he knew would go largely uninvestigated. He got away with it again and again, and then some , and still nobody really gave a damn other than the families of these young men. My heart truly goes out to them, I am so so sorry 😢 My heart also goes out to poor Barbara the dog walker, how traumatic! Thank you for giving these victims a voice Emma , I see you feel that same quiet rage for these (many injustices) that I do 😢 Condolences to all the families of the men involved. As for port , (he doesn't even get a capital P) It's my personal opinion that if he'd not been caught by chance he'd have quietly moved away as the heat was getting too much and just started doing it all again. IF THEY'D LOOKED AT THAT LAPTOP 4 LIVES AND MANY RAPES WOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED!!! (Just saying, London met 🙄😤😡)
I have to say, I've watched several docos on this and needless to say I was disgusted with Port every single time, but you really gave us insight, esp the testimony of so many people not mentioned in the other docos. Thank you, Emma! x sad indeed that those 3 other young men could have been saved from their fates had the police done a better job than a grade schooler -_-
I've seen this case before it gets my blood boiling everytime the way all the young men were dismissed was disgusting and disrespectful to them and there family and friends. The pathetic excuse of a human got his just deserts in the end as he had to be involved. Best video I've seen of this case. Would you do the case of
Emma taking a stand against stereotypes for once. Its so weird how she can say this and then not understand why people dont like it in other situations
I think that of all true crime cases this has to be up there as one of the most frustrating, the police incompetence (deliberate or otherwise) is astonishing, I would be totally embarrassed to be part of that police force.
I agree with you Emma. No person can be so stupid to repeat the same "mistake" again re the drugging to death / placing bodies in the same place. If the police had been competent, they'd have picked up on it by at least the 3rd victim. The bottle of ghb was his signature. Of course he could be as thick as pig shit, but we've seen intellectually challenged serial killers take better care not to get caught. This is another stain on the met police, and it's shocking how bad the institution is in London. I do feel for those in the met who do try to be good police officers, but the system is a mess.
Every criminal has the right to a defence, right? Well, every victim has the right to a proper investigation, regardless of gender, sexual preference, etc.
Listening to this case reminded me of Dahmer murders where the police dont take the murders as serious due to homophobia , very unfair and frustrating.
It is shocking that this man was permitted to be free to commit more murders. All the crimes pointed to Port, & the fact he was left to continue to murder more victims, shows a serious lack of action by the police. Port clearly has murderous intent.
I started uni in 1998 and 5 of my friends were drugged with GHB and violated. So tragic and prolific at this time. Not to make light of this at all but I also think we should start a petition to codify the "tuna slap". Best of luck to your son!
Could youdo a case that happened in preston in the 80s anout the Thompson sisters.its deeply disturbing and no one has ever co ered it.there is a book about it. 40 years of domestic horror that ends in murder. It was so bad that the judge gave the women only two years probation.
I'm not shocked in the slightest by the failings of the police in this case. Because it's the Met. That tells you all you need to know about why it was handled so badly!
Thank you for separating BIG differences between two consenting gay adults vs illegal criminal violent behavior. Clarifying that Emma doesn't think all gay people are p*dos or criminals is VERY important. Thank you for relating this to reversed gender and sexuality roles of victim for empathy/sympathy. Consent based kink vs violent illegal ideas w/date r*pe drugs is VERY different concepts. Most doms and subs won't be willing & able to try "sleeping bois" based off safety issues and personal basic human respect . Crime is crime ( no matter the gender/sexuality of victim). k*lling anyone is bad too. Also, be careful meeting up with strangers/at events as a teen or adult. Please, tell trusted people where you will be or uber/lyft/ taxi links (etc) for safety. someone's " just in case" might happen. R.I.P. to victims of the r*pe and violence. None of those young gay men deserved that bad attention and treatment. RIP to victims & family. That was a terrible flawed neglected homophobic investigations!! This happening while being out or not outed to public as gay is very scary too. This is still a date r*pe and substance crime with no consent.
Emma...I can't stop imagining you having a tank somewhere in your home housing a giant Tuna 😆 Oh this Stephen Port case has infuriated me ever since it happened! The failings of the police were MASSIVE!!!!! There is definitely a stigma attached to gay guys who use Grindr. I have a Grindr account and like to chat and try to make friends, also have the odd bit of fun very occasionally and lemme tell you, there are some PROPER oddballs out there it's quite frightening! The tragedy of it is that for many guys who like to keep their sexuality either private/secret, apps like Grindr can be the only way to connect with other men. What happened to these vulnerable guys at the hands of Port was such an injustice because like you say, the red flags were all there after Anthony was first 'found'. I once met a guy who kept me locked up in his flat for the weekend miles away from where I live. Luckily I managed to escape after finding the hidden door-keys when he was sleeping... never ran so fast in my life! There are many more Stephen Ports out there. Awesome deep-dive on this one Em, as always thank you ❤
It is a case, in my opinion, of the police thinking that these young men are homosexuals and druggies, so, well....... they got what was coming to them! Absolutely awful. Those young men are people, sons, brothers, cousins or even uncles. Their deaths are no different to anyone else's and the police should never hold judgement EVER. Awful, my thoughts are with their families, very sad indeed.
I agree with family…I think the police just couldn’t be bothered to investigate because the men were homosexual. Which those officers should be ashamed of their prejudice and lack of respect for everyone not just those who they feel deserve justice!

Have you also ever thought of doing more historical ones? Like Peter Kurten, H.H Holmes, etc, i think that would be really interesting and different to get your take on those historic cases x)
I’m not sure if the documentary you watched was with Danielle Kirsty- but she did a UA-cam video on him and it was really well done and spoke about James with respect
You should do your own. Sounds like you are very knowledgeable about the case and other cases.
Let’s us know how your son does in competition!
@@marymorris8690I'm not going to lie, I've definitely thought about starting to do true crime, history and lgbtq+ figures on my channel, but I'm quite a soft-spoken person, so I'd definitely need to get a microphone first 😅❤️
@@LEMON_STARFOXI have actually, I was very impressed and glad someone has finally given James case attention in the way it should, but I definitely still wanna see Emma do it, not only for her empathetic nature, but her theories and opinions in general x
Great job once again Emma.
There was a tv drama about this case. The family actually solved the case, not the useless police.
Thank you Emma,..... Brilliant and sensitively reiterated.
Never heard of this one before- thank you Emma for opening my eyes to such an atrocious cop investigation! And RIP To those young men who have lost their lives way too early- healing vibes to all the families ❤
What planet you been living on then ? a very well known case ..
They did a mini series about this case as well. Worth watching. Called 'Four Lives'
For some reason, this case always just leaves me speechless.
Can you please cover the Trudoux case? I’m interested in your deep dive since the show I watched was vague on the background of the perpetrators. LOVE your content that I recently found. Even crimes I know of I watch your videos of because I always learn something new. Thank you.
Hi Emma. I live on the beautiful Isle of Wight, can you cover the disappearance of Damien Nettles please, off to order some merch! xx

Im surprised the police didnt suspect the dog walker finding two bodies !! What a case. RIP those poor young men ❤
Hi Emma, thank you for covering this case so well.
Correct
My daughter is gay and has been stalked and harassed by an ex for years. She finally plucked up the courage to go to the police and was told; “You don’t seem the type of person who needs help from the police”. What the hell is that supposed to mean? They did absolutely NOTHING, and it’s still going on to this day.
I’ve followed this case before, but didn’t know about how oblivious the police were from the beginning. It’s actually terrifying
This case ANGERED me, the complete lack of care from the police is disgusting, they should have been sacked, and put in prison, themselves! They delayed justice for this poor men, who lost their life's by a vile predator 😡
glad Stephen finally got caught!!
Thank you Emma!
i hope you're having a wonderful time in Thailand Emma.
Rest in peace Anthony Walgate, Gabriel Kovari, Daniel Whitworth and Jack Taylor ☹😭 P.S. I LOVE your videos Emma ❤🤓
Hi Emma! Could you please cover Randy Stair's case? It is a very tragic, yet very interesting case. Lots of love! ❤
Emma can you do Dunblane i know you dont like covering shoorings but i think this was such a stand out moment in the uk
I love your skits when you mock the terrible incompetence of the police, reminds me of Philomena Cunk.
No cases anymore shocks me but this case makes me so sick🤢so angry 😡and scary, as for the police what a horrible disaster and disgusting disgrace
Would love to see you do a story in the West Memphis Three. I recently watched the devils knot base on the story. So sad
Already done this episode my lovely. It in my playlist x

Absolutely brilliant coverage Emma 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💖
Thanks em. Stay safe everyone.
Oh Em I'd love you to do the case of what has just wrapped up in court called take care of Maya ❤
@Deano87,I did send Emma a message a few months back recommending she watches that and she said she would, that was an unbelievable case and maybe in the future Emma might look into it.
@@debsheels856 wasn't it just so so sad and justice was served but at the life of her poor mum 🥲
My heart truly goes out to them, I am so so sorry 😢
My heart also goes out to poor Barbara the dog walker, how traumatic!
Thank you for giving these victims a voice Emma , I see you feel that same quiet rage for these (many injustices) that I do 😢
Condolences to all the families of the men involved.
Love the new style jumper’s, time to start saving 😂❤
Well researched
It bothers me that they didn't even bother checking Stevens alibi after Anthony's death
Would you do the case of
Erica Murray
Hello why what did I say? Did I upset you sorry. Erica Murray would be interesting if you would cover??
Ive heard about this case before, and my heart goes out to the families of these poor young lads 😢
Just been reading a book called A life Stolen which links to this case it's by Sarah Sak, the mother of one of the victims
Anthony Walgate, I would recommend the book
Thank you Emma xx
Emma taking a stand against stereotypes for once. Its so weird how she can say this and then not understand why people dont like it in other situations
I think that of all true crime cases this has to be up there as one of the most frustrating, the police incompetence (deliberate or otherwise) is astonishing, I would be totally embarrassed to be part of that police force.
Thankyou for this case. Also, I live with my father's suicide too. It's had a profound impact on my life. Thanks for being you ❤
please look into case of bad guy Basil Borutski, and so so separate and different case of Jeffery Baldwin.
💜 Thank-you for the way you do what you do
I agree with you Emma.
Hes quite dedicated! Im proud of he and your family...how old is he emma?!🎉 Ty for vids.
Every criminal has the right to a defence, right? Well, every victim has the right to a proper investigation, regardless of gender, sexual preference, etc.
Happy New Year Emma. We can see a UA-cam award behind your sofa. What does it represent?
Creators get those when they reach 100,000 subscribers. It’s an award from UA-cam, the next one is at 1 million.
Absolutely horrendous 😢
Listening to this case reminded me of Dahmer murders where the police dont take the murders as serious due to homophobia , very unfair and frustrating.
R.I.P. All of the victims that the police simply don’t care about!
Ports victims were ignored as, “gay men doing gay things”. They didn’t care!
NEED this hoodie !
The behaviour of some police has me gobsmacked!
See you in Weston-super-Mare on your tour, in May!
Jeez , didnt anyone or cctv notice Port lugging around these bodies?! Beyond useless police 🤦♀️
10,000 watched but felt not to tap the ‘LIKE’😮??
It is shocking that this man was permitted to be free to commit more murders. All the crimes pointed to Port, & the fact he was left to continue to murder more victims, shows a serious lack of action by the police. Port clearly has murderous intent.
I’ve literally just watched something on iplayer about this case!
1:06:16 the tuna conversation LMFAO!!!!!!!
Sounds interesting
This case is humiliating can't believe the police did nothing solve the crime good on Jack's family so frustrating for all involved ridiculous 🙄 😒 😢
Hello Emma! I thought you were wearing a Krispy Kreme shirt when I first saw it. Their logo is identical. Interesting change to it 🙂
Essex Police are renowned for their incompetence. They are however shit hot on speeding tickets.
Im suprised they didnt blame the dog walker
Wow what a case you cannot get your head around the bias of the police and the lack of investigating alsi not informing the family 😢😢😢😢
What an awful human being. It’s unbelievable that the police treated these murders as unconnected when even a child could connect the dots.
Emma...I can't stop imagining you having a tank somewhere in your home housing a giant Tuna 😆
Oh this Stephen Port case has infuriated me ever since it happened!
