Thanks for the help. I’m running a 6.5 creedmoor ruger American in an mdt chassis with the magpul ai pattern mag. The cartridge nose dives as it’s being stripped and jams into breech face. I will try metal mags and tune them to hopefully remedy this headache 👍🏻

I'm firing 300 HAM'R through a Ruger American Ranch and an MDT XRS chassis. The polymer 223 AICS mags don't feed my handloads as smoothly as I'd like.
Gonna try a metal mag and see what's what.

MDT warns us about this problem and said anything over 2.870" without binder plate will require "feed ramp" modification as the round will slide forward on it's own and catch when loading.

If you pay attention during the video, you will notice the width between the feed lips is compared to an AI mag. The MDT mag does not share the same spacing. A binder plate has nothing to do with feed lip spacing. In fact the MDT mag feed lips are often more narrow at the front of the mag that toward the rear. This creates a locking condition that does noting to help the rounds release from the mag. Adjusting the MDT mag feed lips to the same dimensions used by Accuracy International solves the problem. But as I stated in the video... It solves the problem for the 308 rounds I'm using and other cartridges with different side wall taper may require slightly different dimensions for optimal performance.

@@PracticalTacticalAccuracy you should view the MDT web page and they state when using longer cartridges because of feeding problems the end may get stuck or jammed on the "feeding ramp" which will require an alteration to the ramp which alteration they say should be done by a GunSmith.
I use 6.5 creedmoor and have zero problems but again that cartridge is much shorter.
I gave noticed one thing though that as I discharge a spent casing the cartridges slip forward on their own pushing the bullet end closer and closer towards the feeding ramp.

@@DLN-ix6vf Nope... I'm real good but thanks anyway. Nothing misunderstood on my end. I don't need to pay a gunsmith to do what I demonstrated in the video. But you are more than welcome to if you are not confident to do it yourself.

@LØNGRANGE Sorry bud. I do not agree. I have dimensionally inspected a variety of mags from a variety of manufacturers. I have never ever had trouble with real AI mags, so the lip dimensions on AI mags are what they should be. When inspecting MDT mags I have found the lips to be closer at the front and farther at the back. Common sense will tell you that is the recipe for jamomatic. Having adjusted the mags as shown in the video, I have had zero misfeeds so I am certain I'm correct. But hey, if you would rather eff up your action to make it work with the mag, that's on you... help yourself.
