I never thought he could top Pulse but he did. The light show isn't quite the same, but the performance at this show just speaks to me on a different level. How is this possible, this 70+ year old guy getting better and better by the year?
Incredible performance! Consider that David Gilmour was 70 years old at this concert! God, I love that guy! BTW: this was the first rock concert performance with an audience in this ancient amphitheater. Prior to that, Pink Floyd had filmed an hour-long music film here in 1971, "Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii", from which Echoes is probably the most famous song... Check that out too - it's absolutely breathtaking!
I share your emotion sir. I sit here in my 71st year with tears in my eyes, thinking of those good times gone by, a life lived quite full, of mistakes made that cannot be changed, lessons learned that should have been learned far sooner. I sit here alone now wishing the grass was greener and the lights brighter. Take care of your family sir and hold your friends dear. This is what David and the power of this song brings to you.
David was around 70 years of age at the time of this spectacular concert. It was about 22 years after the legendary Pulse Concert. I wish I had been there.
This Pompeii concert was amazing. I was fortunate enough to see him on this tour when it came through Chicago in 2016. I had just become a Pink Floyd/Gilmour fan the year prior and never expected to see him in concert. It was a thrill.
Sat front row center for Pulse. Have seen Floyd 4 times and David Gilmour live once. There’s simply NO drop off with David. A true artist and force of nature. What a privilege to catch live. Thanks to all members for 50 plus yrs. What a beautiful ride.
High hopes is my favourite pinkfloyd song, followed closely by wish you were here. Ive even got a division bell tattoo they were my fathers favourite band and i grew up listening to their music my whole life.
I think when it comes to Pink Floyd often there's two camps: Roger Waters camp and David Gilmour camp. I certainly understand how huge Waters was creatively for Pink Floyd and he's a very talented performer; I wouldn't turn down an opportunity to see him live. But to me this man is Pink Floyd. Maybe a little unfair to Waters but Gilmour is the face, voice, and sound of Pink Floyd to me! Still loving your reactions Adogg; keep 'em coming!
David was playing what is called a lap steel guitar, widely used in Country music and Awesome when David sits down and makes it sing, Glad you're enjoying the Pink Floyd journey !!
That's called a pedal steel guitar kind of a combination sits like a piano but you play it like a guitar. You can make beautiful slow sweeping noises with it with either a glass or metal slide instead of a pic! You should check out the song "One of These Days" in the 94 Pulse concert for more use of that pedal steel gituar by David!!
Dave the only person to play in the amphitheater twice This concert was the first with attendance since 79 AD. his last concert and last time playing " comfortably numb" This is his solo without the BIG lighting production. Keyboards Chuck from Allman Brothers and Greg Phillinganes Micheal Jackson music director, drums played with Crosby & Nash, Kenny Logins Joe Walsh, Chester Karmen, played with Madonna. Duran,Duran, Seal, McCartney. this was Dave's final concert. recommend any song . This is HIS playing not the Big Lighting from the Floyd concerts.
This is a profound experience hearing the story, the music and how you reacted. I think it's safe to say that we all must have had similar experiences or thoughts of coming up.
Pink Floyd never disappoints EVER!! Pompeii was the best show I think they ever did n I saw them live in 1994 in Nashville at Vanderbilt stadium. That was mind blowing!!!! Its cool as hell to watch u react to music I've been listening to most of my life...Many thanks to u sir!! Keep on rocking Bruthr!!!!
The extended acoustic solo at the end puts this above the Pulse version for me. But my favourite version is the Royal Albert Hall concert. Makes me tear up every time I hear it. Its just so beautiful. One of Gilmour’s many gifts is his ability to express so much emotion in every note he plays.
"Comfortably Numb" from this show will blow your mind... the great Chuck Leavell (pianist from the Allman Bros. & Rolling Stones) sings the plays... but the guitar solo by David Gilmour is DEVASTATINGLY awesome!
I was lucky enough to see Pink Floyd When they did animals in1977. The before sound "not band* was Brian Eno. My friends had know idea who he was. Brian Eno & John Cale - Spinning Away"
Adogg I finally got it to work. This is going to be fun. Music is and has always been my passion. When UA-cam hit the market I felt as I was given the best gift ever. I have studied music many many years so I'll be requesting music as far back as the 30s. I love all genres of music. So we're going to have some fun. Music has powers of healing almost better than the legal prescriptions. I just watch this on Science channel about music holds healing powers and how it works! So let's keep the feel goods coming!
I feel that David and the band just kept getting better with time. They always drew you into the concert and music were you could not just listen to it but experience it as well.
I wish I had that same feeling. For me, it peaked in the first half of the seventies. I liked the Wall, but thought it was worse than their preceding albums. And after that, I lost interest in any of their new material. The band never seemed fully together really after that and I just focused on their older material. But I think all this stuff is still really good. That can't be denied.
love your reactions, Gilmours a God, but you should know there is more to Pink Floyd...Try the studio versions of a couple of songs off of "The Wall", that features Roger Waters on vocals and songs with his unique perspective, Try studio version of "Hey You" of course equipped with an epic Gilmour solo
my favourite version of this song. this was a great concert. i recommend that you react to more from it, especially an anti-war song [appropriate, atm] called In Any Tongue. it contains one of my favourite guitar solos and a great performance by the amazing backing singers
That's a Electric Guitar they are big in Country Band's. If you really want to Appreciate. Need to listen to the Album all the way Through. To understand what he's trying to tell You. Great Show
Great reaction vid! I too am a massive Pink Floyd/Gilmour fan, but if you do truly like storytelling you should also check out Mark Knopfler. He is also an incredible storyteller. Songs like So Far From the Clyde and Dream of the Drowned Submariner hit pretty hard when you listen to the lyrics.
Adogg, Sir, Please take a few minutes to listen to the Jackie Robinson of country western music, at the time the one and only Charlie Pride. In his beginning he was the one and only in country western music, a true pioneer. You will understand and your reaction will show it. Enjoy.
KEEP TALKING from the 94Pulse concert... go aDogg! Also, ONE OF THESE DAYS...and you have not done SORROW yet? Dude...the 94 live Pulse Sorrow is off the charts unbeleivable
If you haven't seen this performance yet, I recommend watching it. Slightly more intimate and just as beautiful: ua-cam.com/video/TDfKRDYE3w0/v-deo.html

I beg you get a quad system and listen to Pink Floyd in quad, you will NEVER FORGET IT!!!
You can really feel the life experience and wisdom he's gained since Pulse. Really beautiful and moving.
I never thought he could top Pulse but he did. The light show isn't quite the same, but the performance at this show just speaks to me on a different level. How is this possible, this 70+ year old guy getting better and better by the year?
He actually put Division Bell out in conjunction with Pulse. Saw the concert a couple times and we all loved the new music.
Incredible performance! Consider that David Gilmour was 70 years old at this concert! God, I love that guy!
BTW: this was the first rock concert performance with an audience in this ancient amphitheater. The most tasteful guitarist ever my man!

Astonishingly brilliant. All of it. The song, the music, the storytelling. The atmosphere. Your reaction!

David was 48 at this show October 20, 1994
@@MrObelisk2290 That is not correct. He was 48 at Pulse in 1994. This concert was in Pompeii, Italy 22 years later.
@@keyrat1753 sorry hard to watch the video, yes I saw him in Chicago two months earlier, he was 70 .

David Gilmour gives a VOICE to strings like no one else.

Division Bell, top 3 Pink Floyd album
You are right. Gilmour is a hero. Just amazing. It's hard to put in words.
High hopes is my favourite pinkfloyd song, followed closely by wish you were here. Ive even got a division bell tattoo they were my fathers favourite band and i grew up listening to their music my whole life.
I have a couple tattoos, too. One is my profile picture ⬅ The other is a kind of modified prism and rainbow. ✌🏽
Heck yeah brother! My favorite Pink Floyd album! I've got the cover art tattooed on my left upper arm!

one of my all time fave floyd songs up there with the older classics by them! so much emotions and sorrow with hope!
So glad to see younger folks enjoy the music of the older generation. So glad to see that you enjoyed it. You got to subscribe
For a real treat, check out his live performance in Gdansk. Epic Gilmour!!

Wow. Nearly cried during this song ❤
Hell yeah man. I am a devoted Gilmour fan, and I think your take on Dave hit right on the head of my feelings. Rock on brother.

Just in another realm musically
Lovely choice 🎧✌️🎶
David Gilmour is The Man! Da Real Aadog, this whole concert is dope! Check out Run Like Hell, the light show is 🔥🔥🔥
Run Like Hell is my favorite from the Pompeii concert. That shit rocked still in awe of it.
I was lucky enough to see Pink Floyd

I grew up with this band, you have to understand the lyrics!. They are a very intelligent band.

Hey Da Real Dogg. I figured it out. I'm now a paying customer! Love your two channels.
The version from Pulse live at Earl's Court is my favourite. But it's all great when it's pink Floyd and gilmour
One word (LEGEND)
at 8:50 how did he possibly make that sound echo so perfectly😢😢
LOOKS EASY HAHAHAH AMAZING GILMOUR SKILLS
Only took 45 years for the audience to finally turn up.
The Zenith of music.

Adogg,
Sir,
If you enjoyed Pink Floyd's steel guitar section, try Santo and Johnny "Sleepwalk."

I don’t think there’s nothing that he can’t play up there on stage.
Would love to know...how his lyrics touch you... maybe be specific..as far as you're comfortable sharing ❤️❤️❤️
