It was only an accidental combination of these creative principles that led to what it led to. But people connect and diverge, they don't have to meet the expectations of others. Your post remembers me of Van Halen, which was never the same after Dave's departure, lacking his showmanship. In the other hand, Dave's lounge and superficial solo act, had nothing to do with what VH was about
Just like The Beatles went on without John Lennon ... and then without George Harrison. The reality is that as soon as Roger and David went their own separate ways, Pink Floyd ceased to exist. Roger knew it. It's sad that David didn't. He basically wanted to capitalise on the Pink Floyd name which he has continued to do because much of the audience have no clue about the true history and spirit of the band. Back in the 1990s, I saw David, Rick and Nick perform together as "Pink Floyd". But with no Roger, the band lacked "soul". And has continued to do so except for one bright unexpected moment at the Live 8 concert.
David Gilmour is brilliant, and Pink Floyd is one of the 3 greatest bands ever, but I want to hear much more about Richard Wright and Nick Mason as well. They were perfect for Pink Floyd, and I can't imagine the band without them.
"The Wall" and "The Dark Side of the Moon" elevate Pink Floyd into a realm of their own, so it's important not to overlook Roger Waters' contributions.
The fact that an AI Voice is telling the story of David Gilmore and Rogers Waters is the very thing Pink Floyd would have written a song about. Both Gilmore and Waters are so incredibly talented and creative. Pink Floyd was considered "Classic Rock" when I was a teenager. Now , I am 49 years old and still listen and appreciate Pink Floyd Albums like I did all those years ago. To this day, the Gilmore guitar tone and his approach to playing solo pieces gives me chills. Waters is a pure master wordsmith , and Gilmore can make a guitar sound like nobody.
Former band mate? Roger Waters was one of the founders of Pink Floyd. Gilmour was brought in later to help out and then later to take place of Syd Barret who could no longer function as part of the band.
Now Gilmore is my favorite of the band. But we already know all this. If I wanted to see another documentary video about David Gilmour there’s hundreds of other videos better than this one out there. What about their break up? I didn’t see really anything about that than the stuff we already know about it. You kind of wasted all of our times.

Barratt did not agree to leave Pink Floyd. The others had decided he had become a liability and one day in early 1968 they simply did not pick him up on the way to a gig and at that point he ceased to be a member. He turned up to a gig a few weeks later and stood in front of the stage, just staring resentfully at the other members of the band. They did not see him again until he turned up unexpectedly while they were recording Shine on Crazy Diamond in 1975, where he again said nothing and just stared at them, despite them expressing their delight to see him again.

Dont forget the other band members encouraged Syd to take drugs in the beginning to help bring out the artiste within and suggested using him like a lab rat by having him locked away from the outside world and continue writing the songs for them to sing until he was out of reach
Newsflash, You start this out by stating that Roger Waters nearly brought Pink Floyd to it's knees, but Roger was the one who put Pink Floyd on the map as awesome as Gilmour is at guitar and can write songs he can't write the load of work Waters can and did so without Waters there would be no Pink Floyd after Syd got kicked out, now the guitar in those songs are simply great due to Gilmour but you have to have a great song to frame those solos in and Waters wrote 75% of their catalog so he did the complete opposite of bringing Pink Floyd to it's knees although Roger made questionable decisions along the way like kicking Richard Wright out was plain stupid but who knows what arguments they had behind the scenes, and then you say Gilmour is the vocalist for Pink Floyd which was not true pre 1985 as he was co-vocalist with Roger but not sole vocalist until Roger left in 1985
I always preferred Waters because he was the one who made Floyd great, and his solo career was also great, but to hear he may be antisemitic... well that just makes me like him even more.
@@jsullivan2112 I disagree sir! Roger was heavily involved in creation the best PF albums. DSOM, the Wall, wish you were here and Animal. Granted, he was difficult to work with but how could you dismiss his role in PF!

I have to admit that I did Love the direction that Waters took the band but it pains me because Waters is a Total A.H. I think that Wright, Mason, and Gilmore were the core of the band and you can just See their 'connection' to each other when you watch them play. Gilmore, of course, has a talent that Far Exceeds just regular guitar playing. Some of his solo's can bring on so much emotion that eyes will begin to leak. Just like the Eagles harmonies cannot be recreated, same with Floyd, their music is hollow without the 4 of them together.
Roger Waters is Pink Floyd
Your ass
Ultimate argument in our house hold was either pro Waters or pro Gilmour....in the end (and it's near/ is Gilmore.
I mean his last albums were written by his women Mrs. Gillmour
Who was puzzled??
Don’t get me wrong I love PinkFloydBut I could never stomach Roger Waters and his solo efforts like RadioKaos
i agree with gilmour's wife. waters is a nut. some people are just out of their minds, he's one of them.
And after Roger left, the band was never the same!
After Roger left the band righted itself.
@@jsullivan2112 I disagree sir! Roger was heavily involved in creation the best PF albums. DSOM, the Wall, wish you were here and Animal. Granted, he was difficult to work with but how could you dismiss his role in PF!
@@Quantum-XF I hate Animals and the Wall, can't listen to them, so I guess there's that. They're so negative and cynical. Roger just needed therapy instead. Final Cut I still haven't bothered with, waste of my time. I can't stand Roger's voice and he started singing more on top of hijacking the band. I'll take the Division Bell any day.
You mistake me, I'm not dismissing his role, when they were A BAND, not a solo artist with a backing band.
@@jsullivan2112 I appreciate your reply and respect your opinion. But somehow I see a huge disconnect between our musical tastes. I’m not a mono Pink Floyd freak. Mu range in rock is pretty vast, I loved grunge, the Rush and alike . Somehow though, I find it bizarre when a seemingly rock fan. Says he hates the Wall album or the Animals! Peace
@@Quantum-XF That's fine, I know a veiled insult when I see it. Sorry I hurt your feelings lol. The fact you can't comprehend liking Rush and hating those two records says more about you than me. Stumped are we?
I have to admit that I did Love the direction that Waters took the band but it pains me because Waters is a Total A.H.
I think that Wright, Mason, and Gilmore were the core of the band and you can just See their 'connection' to each other when you watch them play.
Gilmore, of course, has a talent that Far Exceeds just regular guitar playing. Some of his solo's can bring on so much emotion that eyes will begin to leak.
Now, as far as this video goes.....Total Waste Of Time!
How much of Floyds music did Gilmore write Not much Waters wrote it all mostly
And he's got the right to talk of pink floyd
Let's take a painstaking look at Gilmore from birth.
Barrett left the band?? Barrett was fired. insulting for the band to dedicate Shine On to him
Yes, well, he did turn up at the studio when they were recording Shine On, so I guess that's why they made the dedication.
Yes Syd fan - but don't forget WHY he was told to go!
It's time that owners of these clickbait channels were charged with fraud.
F. This garbage . Pinks did survived after Waters, while Marillion drawn into shaite without fish . The wall is a masterpiece forever leaving the rest of the pop rock far far behind . Get a comfy position close your eyes and play the wall -
clickbait title, don't bother
the title is misleading
Gilmour is the 14th guitarist of all time? :))))
Nothing to feel sorry about. Pink Floyd opened our eyes in so many ways (and still do), that for sure all members are excused for their almost sad ending.
WHAT THE HELL IS WITH THE 21 MINUTE BIO? ANSWER THE BLOODY FUDGE'N TITLE.
My fault for clicking on a bullshit clickbait title. I should know better.
Never got to the point👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

What do you mean finally. You’ve told us nothing we didn’t already know.
This video is so unprofessional it should be deleted.
What do you mean finally? He’s made it clear for years.
Hey guys give this video a break. It's a good biography of david Gilmour if nothing else.
NO PERDER TIEMPO!!!
Gilmour NO habla en este video.
What's your point? You mentioned no new news on how RW destroyed Pink Floyd? This "cut" is a biography of Gilmore's life and music history.
