Went to the cave yesterday inspired by this video. I am not an emotional person but standing there where so much drama and emotion took place damn near brought me to tears. Thanks Karl and Brett for this video.
First time I've seen the cave "in person" without all the rescuers and journalists. I was a crewmember on 3 different US submarines and the thought of being trapped on the other side of that water with the tiny crawl space is challenging. I got stuck in one of the advanced tunnels in the Chu Chi system in Vietnam and I was able to relax and I was pulled out by my ankles. lol After I had children, I was not able to do those crawl spaces like I could before. I suppose now that they are full grown and on their own, I might give it a try again some day. I'm living in Pattaya now so sooner or later I'll make it up there. Thanks for the tour Karl (and was that Brett Dev ?) !!
Cheers Mal, yes, myself and Brett have done a few videos together with another one coming out soon. I can’t imagine what it would have been like for them trapped in there. One thing I do know is that it must have taken a fair bit of effort for them to have got in that deep. Tbh I’m not much of a caver myself. I do remind going down the Cu Chi tunnels in 1996 and thinking I was doing well in the first 2 levels (widened) but not doing so well in the 3rd level (original width).
@@karlsthailand I might have guessed you would have been one of the few adventurous ones that would negotiate with the tour guides to get to the "special" tour at Cu Chi. lol It was in the 1990's for me as well. A foreigner had a heart attack down there and I think the tours are more or less the bland version now with the oversized tunnels... which is OK for me in my old age.
My pleasure. That place just blew me away. Honestly I don't think even that drone footage does it justice. It's one of those places that needs to be experienced first hand. I hope to return there sometime in the next few months. Cheers
Great video Karl (and Brett) I was staying in Pattaya as events unfolded and recall well the heart rendering scenes as the teams worked round the clock to rescue those poor souls. The sacrifice made by many and the ultimate sacrifice by one to save them was both heartwarming and uplifting. Being as one with the nation at that time was something that I will never forget. Thanks for the share and to Daystate Fox for making it possible.
Thanks, I was in Thailand too at the time and I must admit that I felt very proud that it was a British man that found them eventually, not to take away from a truly International rescue effort.
Great video Karl, great to see Brett joining you. Would love to visit that cave. Thank you to Daystate for your sponsorship. Don't forget to hit the like button guys! 🇹🇭👏
Thank you Karl, your videos are inspiring. It was really great to meet you and talk with you today at Le Pub. Hope our paths cross again, thanks for the pictures with you as well. Rick and Linda Bault.
Thank you for a really great video ! 👍🙏 A heartfelt saga of true heroic, brave, selfless courage to rescue those boys. A tale for the ages, really. The fact that they succeeded against great odds, was a testament to their determination. Again, thank you for making the effort to show us this. Best of luck & regards, J.Ryan.
My pleasure Joseph, yes, it’s a moving story with an arguably happy ending (one diver did sacrifice his life however). I have another video featuring a tragedy out in a couple of hours time. Thank you
Fabulous video Karl great scenery drone work editing the landscape looking out similar to our trip this week in Phrae the mountains etc We went to a cave complex, but due to the torrential rain we encountered, it was closed for safety reasons It's very poignant I imagine when you enter the cave system on your visit , the artefacts bring to life the amazing effort made to carry out the rescue. Thanks for posting 😊
Beautiful place, wonderful place to have a coffee any time of the day. I love to go into caverns, but every time I do I ask myself "How about an earthquake now, a rapid flood or a land slide that block the exit". I go inside anyway, is a trill for me. Nice video. Happy travels and stay safe. God bless you 👍🏿.
Yes, it’s blocked off unfortunately, plus I had a large backpack on as we were travelling. It must have taken quite some effort for them to get as far in as they did
another cracking video, really relaxing to watch, you've seen so much, it was not clear, did the fill in the entrance with rock, or cage it off? the mountain village is dope love it
Glad you enjoyed it! tbh I turned back once the concrete stairway ended and I saw the signs. My feeling was that it wasn't blocked but I could just as easily be wrong about that. Thanks
Probably but I’m not sure where from, you would have to ask. Although it’s not too far from Mae Sai it’s quite an altitude gain. Personally I would hire a motorcycle and enjoy the ride
Heard that the boys who got stuck in the cave, asked a guide if they could get out in the other end of the cave, the guide said no, you can't. But the boys tried annyhow.😓 The rest is known.
Just watched again Karl..... Brings a tear to my eye... The most feel good story of my lifetime I reacon..... Amazing the goodness and goodwill in people opposed to the negative shit politicians and world leaders etc.... Bring on the revolution I say 😇🤣🙏👌
Big up Daystate Fox for helping out.
Yes, indeed
Brilliant Karl ...I love and admire your work....Respect 👃
Thanks so much Terry

Glad you enjoyed it Glyn. Pha Hee really blew me away. Cheers
My favorite place in the Pha Hee and Pha Mee area is Suan Khun Puu Life Museum, absolutely stunning views.
It’s a stunning area villagefarang. I’ve returned many times since 1991 but that was my first actual visit to Pha Hee village
Karl, that drone footage from the mountain top was awesome!
Glad you liked it Man of Adventure. It was a fun place to launch the drone from for sure

Thanks very much. Yes, Pha Hee is incredible and I think your concerns about caves are shared by many
Nice Karl. It's a shame you couldn't explore much further into the cave system; Pattaya beach would have been good to see.
Yes, it’s blocked off unfortunately, plus I had a large backpack on as we were travelling. It must have taken quite some effort for them to get as far in as they did
brilliant karl, i loved that
Cheers Craig
Great video Karl, definitely on my list for next year 😊
Pha Hee is spectacular Mark….but a long way from Pattaya 😂
@@karlsthailand I’ll be in Chiangmai in June, but I’ll have to visit outside of rainy season to see the cave
Great vlog and an interesting epilogue.
Thanks very much Makin5468

Great video, but the tradegy is one of the lads who survived has recently died here in the UK whilst at a football academy
Yes Paul, I was very sad to read about that RIP
I am sure there must be a songthaew from Mae Sai going here? I can,t believe I never heard of this village before.
Probably but I’m not sure where from, you would have to ask. Although it’s not too far from Mae Sai it’s quite an altitude gain. Personally I would hire a motorcycle and enjoy the ride

I nene er knew that. Believe me it must have been some undertaking to get as far as they did. Thanks
Glad to see Bret wasnt wearing that dreary hat this day!
Too much motorbike riding on this day for that hat lol.

Yes, sometimes it takes a real tragedy before people pull their heads out of their own backsides Terry. Cheers
Hi Karl,
I drove to these beautiful places in December.
I hope you don't mind my asking how old are you. You look fit. 😀
It’s a stunning area isn’t it? I’m 59 years old
Hi Karl,
At 59 you're in top shape 😀
I'm 56 this year
Dom (1 in 13 wild boar team) died at London
RIP.
Yes, it’s very sad
