Thanks Michael , my pleasure. Tbh I’ve never really bought into all that “Like Thailand 20 years ago” stuff that everyone says about Laos/Cambodia. Yes there are similarities but they all are/were separate places with a separate feel to them.
Its been at least 12 or 13 years since I was in Laos and looks exactly the same . I stayed in that same hotel and took that ferry . It look like they changed the planks on the ramp or added more as is common. There is a casino up the hills but I forget where. It allows the Thais somewhere to go and gamble legally. Laos is still the poor neighbour of Thailand but lovely all the same. Really loved this one Karl just for the memories.
UNREEL!!! have been aware 4years of all those Islands in Southern Laos, I must get through that region B4 I kick the bucket , I guess all a man gotta do is take da thyme. Great Video Karl u musta had a grate thyme. UNREEL!!!
Great images, Laos is a beautiful country with beautiful people, haven’t been in the south where you are, only the central and northern areas, stunning scenery, the Mekong is special, walk across it in the dry, raging currents in the wet, good stuff as usual ❤
brings back memories, I spent a lot of time on bunk bed buses traveling from Pakse to Attapeu a long time ago and things haven't changed much. I probably did that trip around 20 times. Always a good time in Southern Laos. Thanks for sharing.
Glad it brought back some memories for you PB. The whole trip was a real surprise to me, a friend invited me over there out of the blue. It would have been nice to have more time to explore, maybe next time.
Awesome view of the river with the rapids. Where I live in USA, sierras mountains we have the same rapids but I have never seen rapids on a river that wide. It would be fun to take a Kayak down those rapids
The village looked very quaint as did the hotel and Indian restaurant...You can never appreciate the power of those rivers unless you are standing close by. The sheer sound of it can be overwhelming. Glad the clouds cleared to give you that view. Cheers Karl.
Went to Luang Prabang a few years back, loved the wooden bridge the locals built every low season as in the high season it gets washed away. Only downside is that bars close at 11pm. No exceptions😮
That zip line would’ve been wicked Karl, … The Village you past through was totally amazing …. Ohhh and Hey !! Always great to see and taste from an Indian Restaurant 😉✌️🙏
Cheers Tom, I really enjoyed this mini trip to Laos as it was totally unplanned. I’m glad that you enjoyed the results and that Indian restaurant was almost in the forest lol
